Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - dr bronners assorted scented castille soaps

Dr. Bonner's is famous for having a million uses for its product but here's what I routinely use it for: face body hands sometimes hair makeup brushes For my face, body & hands I dilute it. Basically I fill up an empty bottle about halfway and fill the rest with water. Because you're diluting it, it last forever. It effectively cleans away oil & dirt and since I use the tea tree oil one, it helps as a natural body deodorizer and prevents blemishes. I wash my hair abut twice a week but in between washes, I use this stuff to shampoo my bangs with. I use it full strength when cleaning my makeup brushes. Perfect product! I'll be buying it for years to come.

This is a great, vegan serum that women 25+ should use in their skin care regime. Some people recommend wearing a serum under their moisturizer, but personally I only use the serum (at night). I wake up with soft, smooth skin. I'm really hoping that this product (along with a healthy diet & exercise, etc etc) will keep my skin looking youthful as I enter my 30s :S

Cleansers -Nature's Gate - In the Beginning Gentle Cleansing Lotion

I found this at Marshall's and didn't even know that Nature's Gate had this advanced line. It was $10CAD and worth every cent! I also bought it at Winner's for $10. I use it in the morning and it leaves my skin soft and primed. Best of all, the ingredients are free of nasty stuff and vegan!

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)

THIS IS IT! (Agent 04) Sephora really helped me by giving me a bunch of tinted SPF moisturizers and this was the best, hands-down. It has a nice feeling going on (I just use my hands), with no stickiness, no weird smell, and it blends really nicely. Depending on the amount of coverage you want, you really don't need to use that much. The ingredients, as the product info explains actually are good for your skin and there's no nasty, scary stuff in there. Plus it's got SPF so it helps to reduce sunspots/wrinkles. My only complaint is that it's pricey!

Makeup Brushes -The Body Shop - Eyeshadow blending brush

I use this brush everyday, it's the best! I'm really not great at creating nice eyeshadow blends (ie: smoky eye look) but this brush really makes things easy. The bristles are really soft, easy to clean and best of all, cruelty-free!

as someone else said, the bristles stick together. Also, I found it's really hard to clean.

I actually tried this as a sample by recommendation in-store. While coverage as ok, it smelled like sunscreen and felt like sunscreen. In other words, it didn't feel like I was putting on nice makeup that would provide a nice canvas, but it felt like I was getting ready for a day at the beach. I'm glad I got a sample, I won't be buying this one.

Eyeliner -Shiseido - The Makeup Accentuating Creme Eyeliner Pot w/ Brush
usernameusername 1/28/2011 12:11:00 PM
This is the first cream eyeliner I've used and as someone who wears black eyeliner every day, I can't believe I didn't try this out sooner! The packaging is very minimal which is great. The product itself is high quality, of course. The key to avoiding picking up too much product which results in clumps and uneven applicable is to just take your time and you will be able to created a very fine cat's eye, too if you want. This is fairly waterproof - one day I walked home with snow falling in my face and I still looked ok when I got inside. No smudging or smearing. I wish it were a bit cheaper of course but since it's great quality I will happily buy it again - whenever that is. This stuff is going to last me forever!

Foundations -Urban Decay - Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup

I bought this at Sephora with the help of a colour specialist. The actual product matches my skin very well and I really like the buff that it comes with. I'm able to blend the product in quickly and easily for a great finish. BUT the buff is bigger than the pot that holds the product, so as I use more of the product, it's going to be harder and harder to get at it with the buff. Although it's great quality, it's a little pricey - about $40+CAD. I would probably buy this product again because it's vegan and provides great all over coverage.

Eye Shadow -Shiseido - Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow

Very nice eyeshadow! I have it in Rose Tulle and was lucky to pick it up at a warehouse sale for $6. I'd have to think about it at full price, however. It glides on smoothly and provide a luminescent, lovely colour without creasing. A really nice Spring/Summer product. The packaging isn't the best, however as it is a bit of a deep pot. I do use my fingers to apply shadow, however so I suppose using a brush wold be easy with this type of container. Overall, lovely product.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Ageless Lifting & Firming Daily Moisturiser - SPF30
usernameusername 9/15/2010 12:27:00 PM
I've had good experiences with Aveeno before. I used to buy it on sale because it's a slightly more expensive drug store brand. I was interested when the Shiitake moisturizer came out but then had a HORRIBLE experience. I don't have typically sensitive skin yet this moisturizer burned the skin on my cheeks by the 4th day. The skin was literally burned into, very painful and embarrassing. I guess it must be the shiitake complex because as I said, I've never had problems with Aveeno before. The burns went away a couple weeks after discontinuing use.

Moisturizers -Yes To Carrots - C Through the Night Night Moisturizing Cream
usernameusername 9/15/2010 12:06:00 PM
I generally have dry skin, especially in the winter. I'm also in my late twenties so I'm starting to be pro-active in taking care of my skin. I bought this C Through the Night Cream which is on the cheaper end of drug store night creams. The cream didn't absorb into my skin - it just kinda sat on top. The fragrance is far too strong for something that's made for putting on your face. I found the packaging bulky as well. I will not be buying this one again. I'm using up the rest of it on my hands at night.
