Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub

I love this stuff...if you have sensitive skin, then it's probably not going to be a product that you'll like. However, for my combination skin..nothing works better for keeping my skin clear! I gently rub it in circular motions on my wet face while in the shower and it keeps those little annoying flakies away, makes my skin smooth, and keeps break outs to a minimum. I've used it for YEARS because it's cheap, and it works!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
urstandingonmytoes 5/8/2013 10:37:00 PM
This was a waste of money for me. I didn't find that it gave me volume or length. It globs up on the end of the brush and is just a hot mess. I won't EVER buy this again, and honestly...if this is what I get from Cover Girl Mascara I won't give any of the others a try.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
urstandingonmytoes 4/10/2013 1:06:00 PM
I bought these for my teens and they LOVE them...the oldest raves about how her lips aren't chapped anymore, and the color payoff is perfect. It gives their lips that subtle tint, that doesn't look overdone but is definitely more color than just a regular tinted balm. The scent is nice, not overpowering. Because these aren't as waxy as a traditional balm, the staying power isn't as great, but they feel nicer on the lips..light not heavy. The price is really not that much more than a regular balm, so it's worth trying. I might pick up a few for myself now that summer is here and I'm going more natural on my makeup. :)

Concealers -Laura Geller - Real Deal Full Coverage Cream Concealer
urstandingonmytoes 3/29/2013 5:01:00 AM
Very concentrated..so a little dab will definitely do ya! This has great staying power. It covers my mild undereye circles completely and the redness around my nose. I picked up a "tester" size of this at Ulta for $10 and honestly, it has lasted me forever. I couldn't imagine buying a full size unless you have got major issues that need covered every day. In all, it's a good product and I'll probably buy it again if I can find another trial size.

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner in Black
urstandingonmytoes 3/29/2013 1:18:00 AM
Disappointed in this product. I was expecting something that would really work on the waterline, or with "allergy eyes"...especially after watching QVC where they used this on the models and sang it's praises. Yet, somehow what I got was $22 worth of smudgy, smeary crap. This ALWAYS smudges under my eyes. Now that isn't to say it's completely gone from my waterline. There will still be some spots of it stuck like glue in places, but most of it is under my eye. It's not a becoming look on me. You might have better luck, but to me it's just a mediocre gel liner (in a very small container!) that I could spend half the amount of money on at the drug store. It's a nice dark creamy black, but that's about all it has going for it in my book. I won't buy it again, and I've already passed this on down to my teenage daughter.

Lip Gloss -Unlisted Brand - Khroma In the Flesh Lip Set
urstandingonmytoes 3/27/2013 11:54:00 PM
I picked this lip set up from Ulta for $14.99. It has a dual lip pencil/lipstick and then a lip gloss. I got it in "In the Flesh" because it has a bit of a pink tone to it instead of just beige. Pros: The lip pencil/lipstick work well. They are a very soft neutral pink tone that is very close to my lip tone. I used both and liked the result, even without the gloss. The gloss adds additional color, not just shine. It's not sticky, or goopy. It feels nice on my lips and with the lipstick as a base, it lasted for a decent amount of time on my lips. The lipgloss tastes nice too, so if you kiss someone they will think your lips are extra sweet! ;) Cons: The biggest con for me is the very strong honey smell of the gloss. It's almost sickeningly sweet. Luckily it does dissipate quickly, but that first minute I really try not to breathe thru my nose!! If the smell doesn't bother you then I think this is a decent gloss for the price. Overall, I think that the price wasn't bad for all 3 products, even though it's not a full size lipstick, you definitely get a lot of the gloss to make up for it. I'm very fair, cool toned and the pink in the gloss/lipstick keeps me from looking "dead" which is a problem I have with most beige lipsticks. Would I buy this again? Yes, if I can just get past that honey smell!

Other -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly with cocoa butter
urstandingonmytoes 3/9/2013 12:05:00 AM
I have used the original Vaseline to remove my eye makeup for years...which probably explains the reason that I'm 40 and have very few lines around my eyes. I use this every night to remove my waterproof mascara, and it works like a charm (let it sit on your lashes for a few minutes to soften it up so it wipes away). I have found that it keeps my eyelashes long and lush as well. When my face is extra dry, I dampen my face and then put a THIN coat of this...I wake up with soft, plump skin. No, it doesn't "moisturize"..it provides a barrier that keeps the moisture in your skin. Also, the molecule in vaseline is larger than your pore, so in theory this shouldn't have the ability to clog your pores. In fact, I've never had a problem with clogged pores when I use Vaseline. I know people have all kinds of reasons for hatin' on Vaseline, but, it's been good to me and I will continue to use it and love it. It's cheap, the cocoa version smells really good, it does exactly what I want it to do and it doesn't break me out..the same can't be said for a lot of other products that I've used that cost a whole lot more. I <3 Vaseline! :)

Fragrances -BeneFit Cosmetics - So Hooked On Carmella
urstandingonmytoes 2/6/2013 3:03:00 AM
I tried a tester of this at ULTA and I loved it. I didn't buy it right away, but I couldn't stop thinking about how lovely it smelled. So, I finally went back and picked it up. Yes, it's a bit too pricey for the amount, and the lasting power is about the same as with a body spray. Those are the cons. The pros...The bottle is whimsical and adorable. It has a heavenly sweet, but not OVERLY sweet scent. I am a lover of gourmand scents, and this one is just on the threshold in my opinion. It has a fresh scent to it, that isn't based on florals. So, because of that it doesn't give me a headache or make me sneeze (Yeah!!). I will enjoy this bottle, but sadly I won't repurchase. The lasting power just doesn't justify the price. If they called this a body spray and sold it for $15 I'd buy it by the buckets..but alas, they do not...so I shall not.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
urstandingonmytoes 11/29/2012 10:27:00 PM
Mascara is one of those beauty products that people either love or hate..just like fragrance. So, it's really hard to judge if you'll like it based on reviews. However, I'm going to throw my 2 cents into the bucket anyways. PROS: This makes my eyelashes very long and dark. I can use this on upper/lower lashes and there is no smudging. It doesn't drag down the curl in my lashes. CONS: It can be a bear to remove. I use Vaseline (I don't buy into the hype of the evils of Vaseline, it works for me..use what works for you.) It's expensive, I hate spending $23 on a mascara..even if it is awesome. The wand is unique, it has a little ball on the end that works really well at getting those smaller eyelashes coated and working additional mascara on the outer edge of your lashes. Also, the formula is kind of wet...this means that it easily coats your lashes, but it can clump if you aren't careful. In the end I'd recommend getting the trial size and giving it a go before you commit to a full tube. Ulta sometimes carries them, so you can try it before you buy it.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Laurence Dumont > Vanille Bourbon
urstandingonmytoes 9/13/2012 8:31:00 AM
Ohhhhh myyyyy gosshhhh!! This is my PERFECT vanilla perfume. I love sweet perfumes...in my past has been love affairs with Pink Sugar, Angel and Vanilla Noel. I have had a really hard time finding a good, sweet, but not sickening vanilla based perfume. Well, my search is over. It's funny when I got this, I was on my way to pick my kids up from school. I parked and stuck my arm out the window and sprayed on a very small spritz. (if it sucked, I didn't want it to stink up the car lol) Anyhow, as soon as I smelled my arm, I was IN LOVE and sprayed about 6 squirts all over myself lol Yeah, I got carried away, but oh well :) I bought this off Amazon for about $25 for the 1.5oz. I'm going to go for the 3.5oz this payday...because I need a back up, my girls are making me share this bottle! Just so you know this is a vanilla with a boozy note from the bourbon, it keeps it from smelling too childish. If you want a warm, sweet, sexy vanilla then this one is for you!!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked 2 Palette
urstandingonmytoes 8/30/2012 10:30:00 PM
I picked this up at Ulta...and I <3 it! Great pigmentation, long wearing and the colors are beautiful. I'm 40 years old and I don't want to rock a smokey eye every day, this gives me a great range of looks from neutral and matte...to sparkly and smokey. I don't know what else you would want or need, for me this palette checks all the boxes. The little lipgloss that came with it wasn't my favorite, it was a bit sticky and was more glittery than I liked. I gave it to my 13 year old and she seemed to like it. The brush, is fine...I don't love it or hate it. I'll keep it for blending when I can't find my favorite one.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Tazorac
urstandingonmytoes 8/28/2012 2:19:00 PM
I'm 40 with hormonal breakouts. Nothing horrible, but enough to annoy me. So, I saw my Dermatologist and they put me on the .05%. My skin can handle almost anything...so I didn't expect much from this low % amount, but honestly, I've been pleasantly surprised. My skin IS smoother. My Derm told me to wait 3 months and then at my next appt they will up the % if I feel I need it. I will say that I put it on every night...about 30 minutes after I wash my face. Avoid the creases of your nose and the corners of your mouth. Honestly, I haven't had ANY issues. My skin isn't dry, cracking, or anything else...it's just simply smoother. I wash my face with Aveeno skin calming foam at night. And, every morning I wash my face with Nubian Black African Soap then apply an SPF 30. Easy peasy...I have noticed my blackheads are a lot easier to remove, and my cheeks are so much softer. So, it's all good..can't wait to see what the higher % brings! Lovin' this stuff!

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase paste
urstandingonmytoes 8/19/2012 1:42:00 AM
I was on the hunt for a new under eye concealer and after watching countless youtube videos, I decided to try this one. Well, I wasn't too keen on paying $28 for something that I may hate..so I was thrilled to find a sample size of this at Ulta for $10! I picked it up in MEDIUM. I couldn't wait to do my makeup the next day to try this! Well, first of all..let me stress how little of this product you need, I just tap my CLEAN finger into it, then blend it into my circles. It is very pigmented and creamy so it spreads easily and covers very very well! It has a brightening property to it, so I wouldn't use it on pimples. However, for under the eye, it's pretty good. I have fine lines (I'm 40) and honestly, everything settles into them...however, this is so creamy that it doesn't seem too as badly as other products I've tried. I also set this with Makeup Forever HD power. I will buy this again, when I run out...and if you are on the fence about it, pick up the sample size, I'm glad I did!

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
urstandingonmytoes 8/19/2012 1:35:00 AM
Let me just say..that I have freckles, and sunspots and fine lines, so I have some pretty big issues that I need my foundation to address. I have worn BareEscentuals for years now, but it has just never given me the coverage that I want/need. Although, my Dermatologist loves it and recommends mineral makeup, and it works fine for me on a day to day basis...I need something that I can put on when I am going out on a date with the hubby or just feel the need to step things up a notch. I picked up this foundation for about $15 (which is pretty expensive for a drugstore!) and a flat top blender brush from Ecotools...the first time I tried it, I was shocked at how easily it blended, and how smooth it made my face look! I won't say that it "erased" my freckles/sunspots, but it definitely toned them down and that was my goal. I lightly dusted my face with mineral veil to set it (it's what I had on hand) and the very first time I wore it, my teenager (who rarely has anything nice to say) told me that my face looked really pretty!! This also hasn't broke me out. I think I've found my HG, it goes on easily, blends well, covers my imperfections and doesn't clog my pores...yeah that is pretty close to perfect! I bought the color Ivory and it blended very well with my cool tone, fair complexion.

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay - All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
urstandingonmytoes 6/16/2012 1:38:00 AM
I am so glad I bought the trial size of this...because it broke me out. I know that everyone's skin reacts differently to products, so you might not have a problem, but it clogged my pores like crazy. I also got this, because I'm going thru menopause and the hot flashes cause my makeup to practically melt off my face. I really hoped this would help it hold up to my "personal summer". It didn't. So, I wouldn't buy this again and now it's just laying in my make up drawer taking up space.
