Polishes -Essie - Leading Lady

I bought this as a mini-size together with Beyond Cozy and Snap Happy, now I almost wished I'd bought the full size! Applies easily in 2 thin coats and produces a dark-ish raspberry colour with jelly finish and fine red sparkles - very Christmassy. Lasted an entire week on my nails - which is almost unheard of for me! And considering it's a glitter polish, it came of with only a little scrubbing. Love it.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby
rated 4 of 5

Colourwise, this is a bit more pink than the picture above would suggest. As it is a sheertone it's difficult to over-do, but still has a decent colour pay-off on my skintone (NC15/BB porcelain). A versatile neutral blush - would definitely buy again.

Masks -Soap and Glory - Deep Pore Detox Mask
rated 5 of 5
ural0000 12/29/2011 7:42:00 AM

Satisfyingly scrubby - I only wished the heat effect wasn't quite so transient. Instead of shaking the tube as instructed to mix the product (otherwise you get a solid phase and a watery-oily phase squidging out), I've taken to kneading it beofre use as that just works better. I use this and The Fab Pore, alternating them - and my skin seems to like this. I have not had any spots since starting to use them (I did get the odd one in the area next to my nose or on my chin) and my skin has not dried out either: it's just really quite well behaved.

Masks -Soap and Glory - The Fab Pore Facial Peel
rated 5 of 5
ural0000 12/29/2011 7:35:00 AM

Have been using this for a few months now - I slap this on when I'm showering (which i do in the evenings) and alternate it with the self-heating S&G scrub. This doesn't feel as satisfyingly "scrubby" as it contains no abrasive beads, but is in nature closer to the Dermalogical lactic acid peel. I usually put it on before going under the shower (I take my make up off first) and leave it on while I shower, rinsing it off last off all. It does make the skin feel very smooth afterwards and it seems to absorb whatever I decide to slap on after a bit more speedily. My visible pores over the nose and just to the sides of my nose are less noticeable since I've strtaing using this - but on the other hand that could also be due to the fact that my cleasing previously was a bit... haphazard. Anyhow - nice product which I tolerate exceptionally well despite having a history of eczema. Intend to repurchase.

Moisturizers -Soap and Glory - Night in Shining Armour
rated 5 of 5
ural0000 12/29/2011 7:28:00 AM

When I first started using this I initially had a sneaky suspicion it might be breaking me out as I developed some spots on my cheeks (which is unusual for me) - but I persevered and it is the most lovely night cream I've ever used by a country mile. I admit I don't really give much by the promise of anti-ageing and wrinkle-reducing, but my slightly dry skin has been tip-top this winter. Fully intend to re-purchase.

Cleansers -Soap and Glory - The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
ural0000 12/29/2011 7:23:00 AM

Bought this when I ran out of my usual BB cleansing oil - and very pleasantly surprised by it. Has a similarity in smell to BB as both smell of lavender - which may evoke "old lady" associations with some. I take my eye make up off separatly, then use this for the rest of my face, let it sit while I do my teeth and take it off with a hot wash cloth. So far I've never been left with make up on my face (there's barely any on the cloth even). I alternate this with either the Fab Pore mask or the No Clogs Allowed self-heating scrub (which I use when I shower) - my skin has never looked better. The essential oils could possibly cause problems in folk with very sensitive skin - saying that I have an inclination towards eczema and I've been absolutely fine with this. Will repurchase until they stop making it.

Lovely, lovely colour - awful brush. Ended up never using it because I found application too erratic. Shame.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Rehab
rated 4 of 5
ural0000 12/6/2011 1:43:00 PM

Very pretty taupe-y brown that reminds me of Satin Taupe. Does require a fairly quick hand for blending, but once it's on it's on for good - even without primer. Makes a nice low-key EMU used just smudged around the eye or used in the outer corner with the shadow stick in Sin on the inner lid portion. For evening I do the same and swap Sin for Midnight Cowboy.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-on Shadow Pencil in Midnight Cowboy
rated 4 of 5
ural0000 12/6/2011 1:38:00 PM

Finally a version of Midnight Cowboy that doesn't spread glitter everywhere. Definitely not a day-time shadow as it still contains a lot of silver glitter, but a genius thing to use for a quick not-too-formal going out eye. I would repurchase should I ever run out- but it's not very likely that I will as I don't use it that frequently.

Liquid -Bourjois - Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation
rated 5 of 5
ural0000 10/24/2011 4:41:00 PM

I already liked the original healthy mix foundation, but had to use a primer underneath as it tended to emphasize the pores over my nose - with this one, Bourjois seem to have fixed that problem. It's a semi-matte, light-ish coverage foundation - with a primer it doesn't quite last all day, but the staying power is still very decent. It looks by no means heavy and can be used just in patches to even out the skin tone without having to put on full "war paint". 51 Vanille Clair suits my fairly pale skin (again, this seems to be a better match than the original helathy mix). I would say probably the best liquid foundation at drugstore/low-mid range level.

Cleansers -Bobbi Brown - Cleansing Oil
rated 4 of 5
ural0000 9/18/2011 7:30:00 AM

I have just repurchased this - took me about 10 months or so to go through the bottle, so the fact that this really isn't cheap doesn't particularly bother me. I generally use this at night time to take off my make up - I massage on about 2 squirts of it and leave it for a minute or so and either rinse it off under the shower or wash it off with a terry facial cloth and hot-ish water. I never noticed a greasy (or some reviewers mentioned "slimy") residue - it removes all my make up (I don't exactly trowel it on, though), including non-waterproof mascara. If I've used waterproof mascara, I usually take it off with Clinique Take the Day Off first. It didn't have any impressive effect on my skin condition, however I didn't leave my face feeling tight during the winter months and never caused any breakouts either. I very much like the pump container and will probably use the empty one I have to fill another creamy cleanser I use occasionally into it.

Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - The Porefessional
rated 3 of 5
ural0000 9/18/2011 4:54:00 AM

Odd product. Had a bit of disaster scenario when the SA used this on me together with Some kinda Gorgeous - it looked alright until I got out of the shop and then proceded to slide all over my face. To the point where I went into the nexts Boots I came across and bought make-up remover wipes. That bad. At home, I tried the combination again, and it took me a few tries to realise that this is a product you wnat to use in MINUTE amounts. Really, the less you use, the better it works. With this I can even use Bourjois Healthy Mix, which usually creeps into the pores over my nose. Applied it does feel a bit weird - it's predominantly silicone base, so it feels quite...slippy, I guess is the word I's be looking for. I only apply this over mynose and just to the side of it - no breakouts after almost daily wear for about 3 weeks.

Liquid -Bourjois - Healthy Mix Foundation ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
ural0000 9/3/2011 6:25:00 AM

I picked this up after hearing Lisa Eldridge extolling its virtues in one of her videos, describing it as being practically invisible once applied. Unfortunately, not quite so for me. I don't have horrendous skin, but my T-zone is a bit oily with visible pores - and while this foundation is lovely on the rest of my face, it settles immediatly into the pores over my nose. It;s nothing that couldn't be fixed with a judicious application of a pore refining primer (I use Benefit The Porefessional), but it still adds an additional step in the morning. In terms of shade match, I have to say I'm impressed however - I'm a bit on the pale side and a lot of low end foundations' lightest shade is still a bit too dark or too yellow for me. I boucgt this in shade 51 Vanille claire and it is a pretty good match. Another thing I really like is the pump dispenser - it' seasy to get a half or quarters squeeze if I just want to even out the centre of my face without applying full war paint.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Stila Kitten Palette Summer 08
rated 4 of 5
ural0000 7/10/2011 10:41:00 AM

Every summer, reliably, I get this little gem out of my box of "make-up I'm not wearing right now, but that I'm definitely not throwing away". Very wearable selection of shades, although I'm not a great fan of Ray which looks a bit too pumpkin orange on me. The blue-turquoise shade makes it a nice day-to-night item. I like the slim but sturdy metal case which makes the palette travel well. I would repurchase, but even in the 4th summer of using this, I've only made a fairly small dent in Sun, Wheat and Kitten - I doubt I'd need a replacement any time soon!

Crème -Rimmel - Match Perfection Cream Gel
rated 5 of 5
ural0000 5/7/2011 6:30:00 AM

First off: I'm a difficult customer for foundations. I'm quite pale and in most drugstore lines the fairest shade still makes me look as if I'd been tangoed. Also, I don't like the way most foundations (and that includes BB Skin which is what I used up until now) start looking a bit flaky around the corners of my nose even if I moisturise the heck out of my face. I did try the liquid version of this foundation and while the lightest shade (Ivory) worked surprisingly well, the flaking was still a feature. Now this little gem does what I always wanted from a foundation - it makes my skin look even without having to use all over my face (I usually just do the centre, as that is where I'm a bit red), it doesn't dry or break me out, it lasts pretty much all day and - it looks as if I'm not wearing any foundation at all. I would highly recommend this. It performs better than any high end foundation I have ever tried. I plan to repurchase as long as they make this for and if they ever discontinue it, I will do some serious bulk buying!
