Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen Lipstick - Ravishing
rated 5 of 5

I find that this lipstick is greatly under rated when it comes to the more "popular" MAC lipsticks and it doesn't make your teeth look TOO yellow, which is what some orange/coral/peachy colours tend to do on me. I went to MAC looking for a wearable peachy coral thinking that Shy Girl was the way to go... which ended up a lighter nude peach on my skin tone. Then the MUA recommended Ravishing which was exactly the colour I was looking for. It looks lovely with browny toned eye shadows and also perfect for the spring/summer season, though I would wear this lipstick year round because I love anything peachy whenever because it looks quite good on me.

Moisturizers -Marcelle - Hydra-C ComplexE Moisturizing Gel-Cream

I really enjoyed using this product on my skin because it left it soft with a glowing shine... not a shine that I found greasy. The product was not out of this world or anything with an amazing texture but it was okay.. Although I do have to say that the price is outrageous an I do not like the packaging because it is glass and hard to travel with. I don't mind that it is in a pot because I mean who puts on moisturizer without clean hands? I would not buy this product again because I am looking for a more natural moisturizer because it is much better for your skin to have a natural moisturizer because your skin is the biggest organ in your body.. ya da ya da ya da

Bronzers -Korres - Korres Colour Monoi Oil Bronzing Powder 01 Sunglow Light
rated 3 of 5

This is a review for the Korres Colour Monoi Oil Bronzing Powder in Sunglow Warm. When I first opened up this bronzer I was impressed with the packaging, I think that it is very sleek. The colour looks lovely on the skin and definitely a bronzer that I thought I could slap on because it adds just the right amount of colour to the skin, when compared to my Benefit Hoola that is quite a bit darker. In Sephora I swatched the bronzer on my hand and saw the slight shimmers, that looked quite fine, and I compared it to Nars Laguna bronzer and saw that it definitely was similar to this bronzer. I assumed that I would love this bronzer, because I heard that the reviews on Laguna saying that the shimmers were just enough, but did not make you look like a glitterball. So I wore this bronzer on a very hot day that I was definitely sweating through and halfway through the day, I saw these silver shimmers on my black velvet shorts that at first I thought was dandruff, but then saw the shimmer and I thought nothing of it. Then I when I looked in the mirror, I could spot out the silver glitter flecks on my face and it turns out that the shimmer particles fell off of my face. Definitely not a pretty sight. It was not that noticable, but it really did bother me. I probably will find a way to use this bronzer, but obviously not regularly and I cannot see myself repurchasing it.

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion
rated 5 of 5
unconventionalbeauty 5/1/2010 5:42:00 PM

This lotion cured my eczema and I never have stopped using it ever since. When I was younger I had eczema and I had it on certain parts of my legs, arms and behind my ears. I went to a dermatologist and had all of these rough and quite painful creams that I was prescripted. One day my dentist recommended this cream. My eczema was gone after continually using it! There were times that I did not use it and my eczema came back, so I am a continual user of it now. It is very moisturizing lotion but never feels greasy. I use it everywhere on my body, including my face but I have combination oily/normal skin so I don't know if this would be moistuizing enough for really dry skin. A real staple in my collection.

Lips -Quo - Lip gloss
rated 4 of 5
unconventionalbeauty 4/6/2010 6:27:00 PM

I bought the gloss in Babe and I am thinking about getting Mango. The gloss is very pigmented and I was surprised as to how opaque it was. I love the look of glossy hot pink lips and although Babe is not really in the hot pink category, it is a version of the look that is much more wearable for everyday. I would say that it keeps the intensity of the pigment for about an hour. The gloss is very sticky in consistency but I like sticky glosses because they are much more pigmented. Babe does not have any glitter but some of these glosses do. They are quite moisturizing

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cork
rated 4 of 5

This eyeshadow is lovely. I was buying two shadows for an everyday look and I knew that I wanted All That Glitters for the lid, but I was looking for a crease colour that was not too dark but still not in the lid colour realm. When I saw Cork I was a little bit skeptical because it was just a tad yellow. Although I ended up buying Cork and it is a lovely crease colour for a neutral everyday eye.

Lip Treatments -Alba Botanica - Coconut Cream Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
unconventionalbeauty 3/6/2010 3:00:00 PM

This smells divine. I saw this on my mothers vanity and smelled it. I simply needed to have this lip balm. Probably because I was lacking in really good smelling lip products. I love that it contains ingredients that are good for you. Unfortunately the texture gets kind of grainy after the first couple uses. So one lippie gets knocked off.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Carbon Black Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner

I wanted this product to work so badly but I am so sad that it did not. :( I first bought this eyeliner when I heard many positive reviews on youtube. The first bit of time that I tried this product I was kind of going through stages of denial. For example, I noticed that the eyeliner did not have a very good lasting power. I really did like the shiny look of the liner, the wand and the application was like heaven. I kept on using it because it was pretty much kind of like "the" eyeliner" all the makeup gurus on youtube were using (which is pretty much where I look to buy makeup). So I was in denial about that until I say this review of this eyeliner saying that it flaked on them. And then I realized... damn this eyeliner is flakey! There are times when I came home and I could only see the outside of the eyeliner "line" and the middle of the line was pretty much gone. I also tested it on my hand and it was pretty easy to rub it all off. I also tried it with and eyeshadow primer, setting it with a black eyeshadow, and those techniques together did nothing.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Medium
rated 5 of 5
unconventionalbeauty 2/8/2010 1:21:00 PM

This powder is perfect for those who want a powder to look like their actual skin and control oil. If you have quite a bit of acne/discolouration/redness, then you will have to use a lot more concealer. But this powder is great for those who have okay skin or perfect to use on an off day when those girls who want a heavier coverage do not feel like using a liquid foundation. I had Studio Fix Powder and I will never go back, it was way too cakey, accentuated your pores and the coverage made it look as if you had a mask on your face. I kind of want to take off one lippie because of the price, but I think that it really is worth the price. This powder is exactley what it says it is; natural.

Concealers -Rimmel - Hide the Blemish
rated 1 of 5
unconventionalbeauty 2/8/2010 1:02:00 PM

Out of all the concealers I own, this is the worst concealer out of all of them. The texture is very waxy and it is probably the worst smelling beauty product I've ever tried. It pretty much smells like plastic on crack, just really fake smelling. The packaging says that it effectively conceals spots, blemishes and under-eye circles. Well only if you want to end up looking like an ashy, cakey mess. Sorry but there is not really a redeeming quality in this concealer.. well maybe the price. But this makes me want to stay away from drugstore concealers forever.

Bronzers -BeneFit Cosmetics - HOOLA
rated 5 of 5
unconventionalbeauty 2/7/2010 1:31:00 AM

I was looking at buying Hoola for quite a while but I could not decide between that and Nars Laguna (they are both 30 CAD), just because Laguna was kind of like everyones HG bronzer. Hoola was definetely the option I was leaning towards just because it is matte and has no glitter/sheen to it, so that I could get a 2 in 1 product (contour and bronzer). I decided to get Hoola when I saw the Legally Bronze Value Pack at Sephora (45 CAD). http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P255605&categoryId=C10339 This bronzer looks gorgeous on my skintone it really does look like I hung around the beach for an hour or so. I like to wear it in the 3 formation on my face. When winter is dragging on, it makes you feel like spring/summer time is that much closer. I have olive/yellow undertones in my skin and I think that it is really natural on me. It is impossible to apply too much of this product and it is very blendable.
