Foundations -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
rated 3 of 5

As someone who manages BP magnitude oil spills on her face every day, I was very impressed by this foundation's mattifying power. I had 6+ hours of wear before little signs of oil show up, and even then, it just became dewy instead of a gross oil slick. It has a nice watery texture that feels lightweight on the skin. I'm around NC30 (plus or minus a few sunny days) and 842 was a decent match colorwise, but the pink undertone makes my skin look really ashy. Despite the awesome mattifying effect, I'm going to have to return it because of the color.
Now for the bad:
- you need a heavy duty cleansing ritual for this. I double cleansed using carrier oils and followed up with a gel cleanser, then baby wipes. Repeat.
- cakeface. it can look reaaaally cakey. I applied one layer with a stippling brush, and maybe I'm just not used to full-coverage, but damn.
- settled into my pores and clogged my nose like cray

Liquid -FLOWER Beauty - About Face Foundation
rated 3 of 5
twizzledizzle 3/13/2013 6:28:00 PM

I've been so excited to try this foundation because of the great reviews. Unfortunately, it looks like another miss for me. Initially, the color match was great; it's rare to find an olive-yellow based foundation, especially at the drugstore(ish) price (~$13). This fdn oxidized on me to a couple of shades darker. I picked up LF6 as recommended by NC30 bloggers, but I might go back and pick p LF4. (LF5 is pinkish).
It's a medium coverage foundation that is easy to blend. My problem was that it makes it obvious I'm wearing makeup despite a lot of blending, but somehow doesn't cover up all the redness. WHAT. How does that even make sense? It also seems to have emphasized the pores and indentations in my face >.<
Pros: -I have combo/dehydrated skin and it feels nice on the face! -has a pump -no SPF - I actually don't like SPF in fdns because I prefer to use sunscreen beneath fdn

Lip Liners -Wet 'n' Wild - Liner #712
rated 4 of 5
twizzledizzle 1/18/2013 5:40:00 PM

Great MLBB color. Easy to use - glides on and gives soft color to moisturized lips. Layer a bit of Rosebud Salve on top with a lip brush and you have the most natural looking polished lips. WnW packaging has also gotten better since I was a kid. Thanks, MUA for recommending this lipliner! For $.99, you can't go wrong.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Liner
rated 4 of 5

Soft felt tip makes for easy application. Pigmented black color that you can draw precise line for a natural look or build it up for a dramatic eye. Formula dries quickly enough and serves as a great base for eyeshadow. It doesn't stray, but it does transfer a bit onto my under-eye area, but that could just be my eyeshape being evil.

Mascara -Shiseido - Perfect Mascara
rated 1 of 5

Didn't do very much for my lashes - no significant thickening, lengthening, darkening. The formula is watery and the brush isn't anything special. Makes my curl wilt. Boo-urns!

Lip Treatments -LUSH - Lip Service Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
twizzledizzle 12/30/2012 7:25:00 PM

I've bought this several times; a tin lasts me about a year with everyday use (once in the AM). It's a very thick wax that you have to warm up, which can be a pain in the wintertime. I melt it with my fingers before applying. In the summer, I can apply with a lipbrush no problem. Lip Service is great for moisturizing the lips prior to lipstick application. I only apply once a day because I'm too lazy to carry it with me and it's annoying to apply on the go. The tin is not very sanitary. It does keep my lips very moist for hours, and it's one of the few things that prevent my lips from cracking and bleeding in the winter. If only it were cheaper!

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Crystal Body Deodorant Stick
rated 1 of 5

This does nothing. It doesn't help with sweat, odor, or pretty anything that it advertises. I know some people swear by it, but it hasn't worked for me.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 2 of 5
twizzledizzle 12/30/2012 2:07:00 PM

This product is awful. I know it has many 5 star ratings, but it didn't work for me. The color selection isn't great, but I did find 005 to be close enough, at least for the first few minutes. I was able to get a nice thin layer on, which is enough to even out your skin tone. And then it oxidizes almost immediately. ORANGE FACE after a few minutes. I've worn this foundation for several weeks now. The oxidization wasn't so bad the first few times I wore this, but it's been awful this week. I keep trying it on with different products underneath (sunscreen, moisturizer, primer, etc) in hopes of finding a combination of products that minimizes the oxidization, but no luck :(
The only reason I gave this 2 lippies is because of the pump, otherwise, it'd be a total 0.
Well there goes another full bottle of foundation and $15 down the drain. Sorry, landfill!

Tinted Moisturizer -Aveeno - positively radiant
rated 1 of 5
twizzledizzle 12/28/2012 5:21:00 PM

I wanted to try Aveeno because I've always liked their skincare products and got excited that they were making TMs. I've had this bottle for a year now and I hate it more every day. Can't seem to throw it out because I really want to make it work, but here's why it won't:
-gritty, greasy texture (strange!) -oxidizes like crazy (hello there, oompa loompa!) -product goes on streaky, whether I use my fingers, sponges, brush, etc. it's odd how much blending is required of a tinted moisturizer... -it settles into my skin and magically emphasizes my wrinkles and fine lines that don't exist! -sorely disappointed in a product that's $15-18.
The one thing it does do it even out my skin tone because of its light-reflecting particles -- but this is only from afar. Close up, it doesn't do anything but make me look like a BP oil spill disaster.

Eye Shadow -MAC - MAC Brun Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
twizzledizzle 12/28/2012 4:25:00 AM

Great to fill in brows with a slanted brush. As an olive-toned person with dark hair and very sparse brows, brun fills it in and the grey-brown hue looks more natural than anything else I've tried. Has great staying power whether I'm applying it alone or over foundation.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Lemon Aid
rated 1 of 5
twizzledizzle 12/28/2012 4:16:00 AM

For medium skin, the color is a bit too light. It's very tacky and can cause you to tug on your eyes if you don't warm it up enough. I've used it alone to even out my eyelids as well as a primer for shadow because it has a tacky consistency that eyeshadows can stick to... for like, an hour. Then it creases horribly. It doesn't blend very well, either. While the little mirror is useful, the product pan is a gross petri-dish for bacteria. Overall, for the price, it doesn't do what it's supposed to do.

Mascara -Physicians Formula - Organic Wear Fake Out Mascara
rated 3 of 5
twizzledizzle 12/28/2012 4:05:00 AM

Overall, it's not the worst d/s mascara ever, but at around $10, it's overpriced for what it can do. Apply it right and you can get a "my lashes but better" look that isn't dramatic. Otherwise, it can clump and smudge like crazy. It does, however, make your lashes feel soft and healthy. I think the problem is mostly with the brush, not the formula.
Pros: -very dark and can make your lashes look lush if you apply it right -lashes stay soft and pliant, NOT brittle or hard at all -seems to make my lashes look healthier -formula stays moist and doesn't flake off -easy to remove with just moisturizer or baby wipes -fairly long-wearing -non-irritating -supposedly 100% "natural" ingredients
Cons -bulky brush that can't get at all your lashes (esp inner and outer corners) -clumpy; you'll need a lash comb -not waterproof -- prepare to raccoon it up! -smudges a bit -not very dramatic -ugly packaging

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 70
rated 4 of 5
twizzledizzle 6/20/2009 3:43:00 PM

This sunblock doesn't smell odd, feel greasy or heavy. My combo/oily skin loves it and I have yet to break out after using it for 1 month. It helps make my skin feel soft, dries clear and matte and provides a good base for my makeup.

Moisturizers -Yes To Carrots - Yes to Cucumbers Facial Hydrating Lotion
rated 3 of 5
twizzledizzle 6/20/2009 3:38:00 PM

I have combination skin: normal cheeks and neck, super oily t-zone.
This is a light moisturizer that makes my skin feel really soft without aggravating my acne. I started using it during a really stressful semester and it actually decreased my breakouts. Aside from dark spots, my skin is pretty much clear now!
I have very little faith in lotion products after all these years, but YES TO CUCUMBER is freaking amazing. I can wear it all day and don't even shine until very late in the evening. Having to only blot once a day is pretty awesome.
I agree with the other positive reviewers about the packaging, though for a drugstore product, $15 for 1.7 is a bit weird, BUT if it works, why not? Unless there is a magical product out there, this may be my HG moisturizer. ----- EDIT 2012: this moisturizer no longer works for me. Not sure what changed. I've repurchased it twice but won't any more. It no longer feels moisturizing, just sits on my face with a cloying scent. At least it doesn't break me out -- I think I'll just try to use up the rest on my hands or something.
