Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals in 1.2, fairly light

Well, this was just 'eh'.

PROS: Absolutely, positively the best foundation for sensitive skin. Hands down. I reach for this when i'm having an irritated-skin-day. Fantastic coverage.

CONS: Well, that SPF is a joke. I mean, *maybe* it will protect someone a little (very little) if they use half the jar for an application, but seriously. I wish cosmetics companies would just stop advertising SPF in foundation. It's such a marketting scam. I even asked bare essentuals what they recommend for an application. Even they didn't know.

Sinks into fine lines, wrinkles and pores.

Can look chalky.

WARNING: The safety of micronized minerals has not been evaluated. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are safe in their normal, natural forms. HOWEVER, there is some concern that when ground up to nano sized particles, these minerals can cause cancers and neurological problems. The cosmetics industry is opposed to testing the safety of these nano ingredients. They claim that the normal sized particles of ZO and TiO are harmless, so the super little particles are too. Trust me, ladies, any student of physics will tell you that the draw to nano technology is that the particles behave *differently* when nano-sized.

Consider for a moment that when you puff this stuff on your face, you are breating it.

Liquid -Shu Uemura - Water Perfect Fluid Foundation
rated 4 of 5

I am still looking for my HG foundation, but this will certainly do for now. The coverage is buildable - sheer to medium. On sheer days it looks great. If you need a little extra, it will build nicely without getting gummy or chalky. The color does not darken during the day, so that is definitely a plus. It doesn't slide off the oilier areas of my sensitive skin. On the whole, it looks pretty good. It has a nice matte look without looking 'dead'. I brighten it up with a quick swipe of bobbi brown pink shimmer brick or nars orgasm blush.

The color selection is a bit limited. It tends toward darker tones and yellows. I'm on the pale side, and there is definitely no wiggle room for me on the pale end of their color spectrum. But if you find a color that matches, Fantastic! I have very sensitive skin. It contains a fragrance (why DO they do that???), but it hasn't given me problems. (My gold standard for sensitivity is bare minerals.)

Application takes a little practice. I have had the best luck with fingers. It must be blended quickly. Stays on all day. Sets very nicely with the shu loose powder.

Crème -Vincent Longo - Water Canvas

Wow. This was a terrible product. I've heard great things about it and decided to try it myself. CONS - First of all, the packaging is terrible - absolutely NOT hygenic at all. Secondly, although the coverage is somewhat buildable, it gets very chalky on about medium coverage. It looks terrible. Third, applying it is difficult because it doesn't exactly 'grab' if you wear any kind of sunscreen or moisturizer - it just slides off. I tried several application methods - foundation brush, sponge, wet sponge, fingers. None of them really worked. ALthough the sponge was the best. Also, it feels terrible. I felt like I was wearing paste. And it is just not suitable for sensitive skin. The apples of my cheeks were inflamed after about a week of use. PROS - * IF * you can get it on, and looking good. It does look fantastic for about 4 hours.

Wow. I love this stuff. I've been from the La Mer end of the spectrum to the Kinerase end of the spectrum. I never thought that I would have found my HG eye cream in my local grocery store! My fine lines and wrinkles are softened. It feels great on. If you try it, use sparingly under makeup. Creamy concealers have a little trouble sitting over it.

I am in my mid 30s with sensitive, sensitive skin. I feel like I've tried everything to keep it under control. I would have never thought that relief would have come from a $3 bar of soap! I would recommend this product to ANYONE. Dry skin, oily skin, combination skin, all of it. It is the only cleanser I have tried that does not irritate at all while sufficiently cleansing the skin. THIS IS MY HG CLEANSER!!!! :-)

This product has worked wonders for me. I am in my mid 30s with sensitive skin that tends towards mild rosacea. This product has definitely calmed my skin and eased the redness. I use it in conjunction with a bar of vanicream cleanser and a moisturizer. I heartily recommend this product to anyone with sensitive, irritated skin.

Skincare - Face -Kinerase - Kinerase C6 Peptide Intensive Treatment

I am in my mid 30s with sensitive skin. I spent waaaaay too much time in the sun as a child and teen. Needless to say, my skin looks older than I would like. I decided to try the Kinerase line because of the glowing reviews it's had on this forum. It's also sold in my dermatologist's office, and he thinks highly of it. I tried it on the right side of my face for 5 weeks. On the left, I used my usual line. After about a week, my skin was less blotchy. I was really impressed. I decided to continue the split-face test to see how much of an improvement I would see. Unfortunately, my skin began to worsen. The fine lines and small wrinkles I had grew more apparent. My skin was not painfully dry but looked crepey when I applied makeup. At the end of 5 weeks, the lines under the Kinerase side of my face were much more noticable than those under the control side of my face. I would recommend to all those considering the Kinerase line to get a travel pack, try it on one side for a month, and see what you think. It's become a HG for a lot of people. It simply didn't work for me.

Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dr Feelgood
rated 3 of 5
twinkle_twinkle_star 9/4/2005 8:47:00 PM

First the cons - My biggest problem with the entire benefit line is that the products do not seem to work well together. Benetint, Lemon Aid, and Dr Feelgood are all great products, but Dr Feelgood tends to make Lemon Aid ball up and move around. Benetint over Dr Feelgood will not stain the skin (which is good for some) and disappear. The Benetint foundations are not all that great, so one ends up using Dr Feelgood as a primer for a different brand of foundation. Mixing and matching works for me, but as a line, I see it as a drawback. The tin tends to stain the sponge. Of course, it's a sponge, so a little oxydized metal won't hurt the efficacy, but it looks bad. All Benefit products are a little hard to learn to use. This is not something that you can slide onto your face and expect to look great on the first try. Now the Pros - It really does help with pores. My biggest problem is with enlarged pores and Dr Feelgood is fantastic at minimizing those. It really does control oil. With large pores, I have some extra oil. I don't tend to turn into an oil slick by the end of the day It seems to seal in the good stuff. I have large poors AND dry patches AND super sensitive skin. I haven't had any flakies on my cheeks since I've been using Dr Feelgood. My skin is velvety all day. It really does help the over all look of other products. Dr Feelgood is not a cheap product, but I feel like I actually SAVE money on other products because of it. It travels so well. I am never concerned that Dr Feelgood will leak out of my makeup bag and ruin anything in my suitcase. For those who travel, this is HUGE. Overall, I will continue to purchase this product. For those who are considering a first purchase: - Practice, practice, practice. This is kind of tricky to use. Give yourself time to get it right. - Keep your expectations appropriate. No product will be all things to all people. Dr Feelgood is a fantastic primer and controls oil well. It is not a replacement for foundation.

I've been trying out the YSL products. For the most part, I've been impressed. Pros - GREAT coverage. Nice colors. Adhers very well to the skin. Very matte. Cons - Very, very difficult to blend. Illuminates dry skin. Dries out dry skin even further. Sort of "dead" finish.

This isn't my HG, but it's a wonderful product for the price point. It absorbs nicely, leaves no whitish residue, and does a fairly good job moisturizing.

Moisturizers -Clinique - After-Sun Rescue Balm
rated 5 of 5
twinkle_twinkle_star 6/5/2004 2:24:00 PM

This product is one of the best out there! I'm usually not a fan of clinique. I find the quality lacking. I try to be as careful as i can, but every once in a while, I miss a spot with the sunblock. Then i have a weird sunburn stripe somewhere. After-Sun Rescue Balm keeps me from peeling. It feels cooling and lovely, and it never has broken me out. We all try our best to avoid sun accidents, but if you have one - rush out and get some of this. You'll love it!

I'm really surprised this product is as popular as it is. The granules are so few and far between, i don't believe it actually scrubed anything at all. I had much better luck with a soft wash cloth.
