Palettes -Estee Lauder - Enchanted Forrest GWP Shadow/Blush Palette

RIS and soooo happy about it! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Estee Lauder eyeshadows and blush! The formula and colors are beautiful on me. I cannot wear the vibrantly and/or SUPER densely pigmented (and often frosty) shades from lines like Stila, Nars, etc. Even a lot of MAC does not work for me. This palette includes 8 eyeshadows and 1 blush. EVERYTHING is beautiful and wearable! (for reference, SKINTONE: light to med with pink undertones; EYES: olive green/amber/rimmed in teal; HAIR COLOR: honey blonde) Here are the eyeshadow shades: 79 Summer Linen (MATTE) 45 Lavish Mink (MATTE) 39 Rock Coral (SHIMMER) 54 Pretty Penny (SHIMMER) 50 Sandbar Beige (MATTE) 38 Chocolate Bliss (MATTE) 35 Hot Cinnamon (SHIMMER) 71 Enchanted Forrest (SHIMMER) The blush shade is: 11 Nude Rose (MATTE)

Blush -Estee Lauder - Signature Silky Powder Blush Nude Rose
tulipsplash 1/28/2011 11:17:00 PM
LOVE this blush. If you have NEVER been able to wear blush because you've got too much pink or "warmth" as they say in your skin, you may like this! I happen to love it. I only wish I'd found it sooner. If I'd listened to Paula Begoun on this one, I'd have never found it. She negatively critiqued the formula, which though dry, works wonderfully for me. But, it is the color that is the "holy grail" aspect for me. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!

Lotions/ Creams -Paula's Choice - Weightless Body Treatment with 2% BHA

Two ecstatic thumbs up! This review is for the recently released version of this product. I bought this to treat some clogged pores/bumps near my elbows as well as some pimples on the backside of my upper arms. Only been using daily (sometimes twice daily) for about nine days and already seeing results. The elbow area is all but cleared up, and there is noticeable improvement on the arms. I also use it to exfoliate my belly button. I apply after showering and/or before bed. This product is color & fragrance free. It is a white lotion that has a very light, mild odor to it. I guess you could say it smells a hint like melon.

Foundations -Elizabeth Arden - Flawless Finish - Mousse Makeup
tulipsplash 7/17/2010 8:06:00 PM
My skin tone is in the family of MAC NW20. I wear this in Champagne 01. FYI colors Champagne and Ginger run slightly pink (as does my face). Champagne disappears into my skin, unless I've just had my gold blonde highlights done. Then, the color looks off. But, once the hightlights have faded a bit (about a month old), this color looks excellent on me, and works well even into the winter months when my blonde hair is brown. Promoted as a foundation for "the makeup minimalist" and that's an accurate advertisement. Offers very sheer to light coverage. DOES NOT cover blemishes but DOES smooth, and even out the skin tone. DOES NOT give you flawless skin per se, but definitely enhances whatever skin you've got. That said, the formula is very thin as it does not include any potentially pore-clogging thickeners, so it shouldn't add to any flaws i.e. cause more blemishes. I have been using this foundation for almost a year, and still LOVE it!!! It's perfect for me! Now, I just need a powder to match (don't like the EA powder counterpart).

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Eyes Indian Summer
tulipsplash 5/31/2010 5:50:00 PM
Loved the original Indian Summer (manufactured pre-2005); I returned this one to the store. Light shade too white and dark shade too dark for eye shading, more like an eyeliner shade.

Ref: NW20ish. This wears chalky on me. Returned to store.

Blush -Revlon - Smooth-On Powder Blush - Naturally Nude

(Reference: MAC NW20; GA LSF 4.5; CDP RFF SPF24 in O20) Claims to be matte, but there's a sheen to it. I can't get away with any sheen, however subtle it may be, on my face. Love the color but wish it was a bit darker too. Jane's Blushing Babydoll is working for me right now.

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Luminous Silk Foundation

I am NW20 and I was matched to LSF ($59) in 4.5. Coverage is medium, and appears polished, professional, and obviously made-up. I prefer something more sheer.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
tulipsplash 4/24/2010 11:42:00 PM
PROS: Near flawless (and beautiful!) and no less than medium coverage; Creamy, blendable texture; Hygienically packaged; per Paula Begoun, this is "a workable option for those with normal to slightly dry or oily skin." CONS: Wears chalky on me (like any and all foundations or powders from MAC). And, it initially stings my face when I first put it on. The stinging, however, stops within a minute or two but that can't be a good thing for me. (I do have very reactive skin.)

Liquid -Cle de Peau - Refining Fluid Foundation SPF 24
tulipsplash 4/24/2010 5:06:00 PM
Per Paula Begoun's critique: PROS: titanium dioxide provides sufficient sun protection; smooth, fluid texture that blends well and sets to a satin-matte finish with a hint of luminescence; water/silicone-based foundation best suited for normal to slightly dry or slightly oily skin; CONS: cost ($118) and limited access (sold only in select department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue); Paula warns that B10 is too peach and B20 is slightly peach. GOOD2KNOW: the color code: Each shade is prefaced with either a B (for Beige); an O (for ocher) an I (possibly for Ivory???). Also, this (like most all foundations) wears better if you prime the skin beforehand with a skin-appropriate moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, or primer etc. You gotta put something under it. Reference: Age 39. My skintone is in the family of MAC NW20. The SA recommended I try O20. I could ALMOST pull this off, but alas, it was too yellow for me. If someone with as much pink in her skin as me can almost wear this yellow-based color, I would say O20 is definitely a neutral, wearable, natural-looking, yellow-based shade without going too yellow. Dewey finish that doesn't turn colors or oxidize. Coverage is light to medium. Yes, I would repurchase upon finding the right shade for me, which I believe I could do without any interference from an SA.

Bronzers -Sue Devitt - Beausoleil
tulipsplash 4/12/2010 3:27:00 PM
For reference: Chantecaille Compact Makeup in Peach (matches closest) or MAC NW20. LOVE this! It is the one and only bronzer I can wear. Perfect for my coloring. Description: Half of the compact is a soft rosy bronze. The other half is divided into two colors: natural pink and beige-gold. All three colors have soft, wearable shimmer. Customize It: I keep my swirling brush mostly in the pink and beige colors, picking up just a little of the rosy bronze. This color combination works best on me. In fact, I wish the rosy bronze strip was the smallest strip of the compact. It is gorgeous, but I only need just a little. Multiple Use: I do wear the beige-gold on my green eyes. I wear the pink shade on my lips. Would definitely repurchase!!

Powder -Chantecaille - Compact Makeup
tulipsplash 4/6/2010 12:54:00 AM
Per Paula Begoun: Coverage: Polished, natural, and sheer, especially for a powder foundation; wears more like a pressed powder Application: smooth and even Finish: Natural Matte (not dry or chalky) Shade Selection: Beautiful, but each goes on lighter than it looks in the pan (must test drive) Appropriate Skintype: Best for normal to dry or slightly oily I would have to say that I agree with Paula's critique. I love to wear this over my sunscreen. However, the biggest selling point for me was the shade selection. I have a very hard time finding foundation colors that match me. My skintone is in the family of NW20-NW25, but the MAC products look chalky on me. If you have pink, peach and yellow undertones; and, if you find that most foundations wear too yellow or too pinky beige on you, CHANTECAILLE COMPACT MAKEUP IN PEACH just might work. It did for me!

Palettes -Sue Devitt - Hydrating Marine Minerals Destination Eye & Cheek Palette Solomon Islands
tulipsplash 3/30/2010 1:16:00 PM
Gorgeous coral-ly pink color best for fair -- medium skintones!!! IMO, this is best used as a FACE SHINE/HIGHLIGHTER/ILLUMINATING/SHIMMER product, rather than eye shadow or blush. Use it to set off the brow bone or upper cheek bone. This product is similar to products such as: Diorskin Poudre Shimmer Ultra Shimmering All Over Face Powder aka Diorskin Shimmer Star, which comes in colors like Diamond Pop or Amber Pop; Clinique's Fresh Bloom Allover Color; and any number of shimmer bricks.

Eyeliner -Sue Devitt - Eye Intensifier in Black Widow Black Lavender
tulipsplash 3/24/2010 8:50:00 PM
A grand slam homerun for green eyes. Dark purple eyeliner with purple sparkles. Chubby stick, but I can still get a tight line. Lasts all day on me. Retails for $22. I got this (full size) as a sample with my order. Lucky green-eyed me! Would love to see this in a skinny stick--it'd be easier to work with.

Concealers -Sue Devitt - Bermuda Triangle
tulipsplash 3/24/2010 8:44:00 PM
There is no way this color could work for everyone, but I am so happy that it works for me, a girl with a lot more peach and pink than yellow undertones. I have such a hard time finding a good concealer. They are always too yellow for me. But, this is PERFECT for me. And, I got it GWP from the Sue Devitt website this month. What a gift!! I love the color, the consistency and the packaging. A+++
