Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Visibly Even Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
rated 2 of 5

I bought this in hopes of evening out the red hyper pigmentation of my cheeks and nose. It did neither. Although it sinks in nicely and leaves a nice velvety feel on the skin after a few minutes, DON'T use this if you are active or live in hot weather!! Any sign of moisture or perspiration and this stuff will melt completely off your face and get into your eyes. I would not buy this again because I bike to school. I also feel like there is not enough product in the tube to justify the price and it does not even skintone. It is also slightly drying to the skin, strangely enough, because it is a moisturizer. Olay's Daily Moisturizer is much better.

Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Targeted Tone Enhancer

I bought this because my nose used to be cherry red all year long. It looked like I had a cold 24/7. I think it may have been from a bad sunburn I had when I was young and I stupidly scraped off the peeling skin. This product really worked to tone down the redness. Did it work on my freckles? No. Did it work on my rosy cheeks? No. But I bought it for my nose and it did a great job of turning it from a clown nose to a passable pink nose in about a month and a half of use. I used a fair amount (size of a small pea) for my nose area and really rubbed it in there. I used smaller amounts (pinhead size) for other areas of my face that had freckles, and did not see any results on the freckles. Perhaps you should use more product to see results? I did experience a slight itching sensation if I used a lot on my nose, but nothing too bad. There was one week where I got lazy and didn't put any on (I was deathly ill), and noticed that my nose started peeling just a little. Nothing serious and it went away as soon as I started my daily skincare routine again. Overall, I give it 5 stars for working on my original problem, but no stars for freckles. It did lighten one beauty spot I have, but the rest of my freckles are still very noticeable. I will continue to use it to see if I see any improvement.

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning lotion
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 2/28/2009 12:59:00 PM

Fantastic lotion. I used to use Lubriderm and Curel, but now I will stick with Vaseline. I love the scent, although I find it smells a little more artificial the longer you have the bottle. Still smells good, though, and it lasts all day. I did not experience this weird "film" others have. I just feels like lotion.

I really wish this could have been my HG. It smudges under my eye after a few hours. I guess I'll just have to keep looking...

Highlighters -NARS - Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 1/18/2009 6:13:00 PM

Most fantastic highlighter I've ever used! Prior to this, I was using Benefit's 10 (see profile pic) every day, but decided I wanted something that gave more sheen. This was absolutely perfect. You can use this light gold highlighter on top of just about any blush and it gives you a perfect glow. I haven't experienced that robotic look that comes from using too much, but I use several swipes so I can't imagine how much you would need to use in order to achieve that effect.

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 1/18/2009 6:08:00 PM

I LOVE this blush! I was thinking about buying Orgasm as my first NARS blush, but I'm so glad the SA at Sephora suggested Deep Throat for me. It gives me a perfect flush every single time that I've always coveted that you see on movie stars. Plus, the color is very pigmented so I don't use a whole lot, which makes it worth the money, in my opinion. Yes, the packaging does get dirty easily, but I think of it as an easy way to distinguish which blushes are in which package before opening it! Will definitely repurchase again whenever I do run out. I was surprised I loved this blush as much as I did, since my first two tries with NARS products weren't too favorable (cream eyeshadow and concealer) One thing I did notice: don't use a fan brush to apply. You won't get the pretty shimmer that comes with it. When applied with a regular blush brush, everything turns out fine. I use this with Laguna and Albatross.

Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Loose Powder
rated 4 of 5
tsunamino 1/11/2009 12:40:00 AM

I really like this product. It does get annoying when I have to open the jar because the powder really does get EVERYWHERE, but I had a photoshoot the other day, and my proofs came back FANTASTIC. I had flawless skin! I use MUFE mat velvet with this powder on top, and it usually lasts me at least 10-12 hours before I need a touch up (and by then, I usually take it off anyways). I've never had a problem with this powder, although if you use too much, you'll turn out a whole lot lighter than when you first started out. The only reason why I gave it 4 lippies is because of the packaging and the price. However, I feel the price is justifiable because I only use a little at a time.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Black
rated 2 of 5
tsunamino 4/30/2008 2:26:00 AM

I bought this in black and eggplant after finally finding it (went to 5 stores to get it!!). The black is incredibly smooth with a very deep black color to it. The most amazing thing is that it LASTS. It would probably last for 3 days if you kept it on that long. On my eyes, I noticed absolutely no flaking and it stayed completely black all day long. No flaking or fading whatsoever. On my waterline, however, it was a different story. I tried waterlining for the first time with the HiP liner, and have a few negative things to say about it. It stayed on nearly the entire day (great!), but it also got stuck to the surface of my contact (bad). I had to take out my contacts and scrub the heck out of them before the liner would come off. Great staying power and practically waterproof, but painful if you get them on contacts. On the non-irritated eye, it stayed on the waterline for hours and hours with some fading and flaking at the end of the day. It also irritated my eyes slightly and was a little painful when it was on the contact. Another plus for this is it comes off easily. I used EVOO to take it off and had absolutely no problems with it coming off, despite the fact that it had incredible lasting power. I even got compliments on my makeup that day. I can only compare this to regular L'Oreal liquid liners and Benefit Babe Cake. I have not tried MAC fluidliners, so I would not know how to compare. Based on my previous experience, I can say that this is definitely the best liner I've purchased and will definitely purchase again! Waterlining may not be in the future though.... Edit: I use an angle brush and it works like a dream! So much more control with this liner than any other that I've tried. The others tend to make my brush skip and wobble. Not so with the cream liner. Have not and will not try the brush that comes with it. EDIT: I've had this for about a month and all went well until it started smudging! I haven't been doing anything different, but now it smudges after a few hours! I'm very disappointed. It might be the weather or something, but I'm going to try MAC fluidlines now. It has also RUINED several pairs of contacts! I got some on the contacts when it was wet, and when I scrubbed it off, I could no longer see out of the contacts and they irritated my eyes so I had to throw them away. Took off 3 lippies for this.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 4/30/2008 2:08:00 AM

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet!! This is definitely one of the treasures that I've learned about from MUA, and I'm glad I did!! I use it mostly as a mask with honey and some sugar, but it also works well as a moisturizer and amazingly well as a makeup remover. Amazing! I will never ever have to shell out extra money for eye makeup removers ever again! I don't use evoo every night, though. I switch it up with some regular cleansers that I have, but I use it to remove my mu and as a mask when I feel like treating myself. Best stuff around! The honey mask, on the other hand, is even better. All the redness I had on my face disappeared and it looked like I was wearing foundation! Please read my review on honey for more clarification.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Honey
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 4/26/2008 3:12:00 AM

I LOVE honey masks! I read about this while researching different masks to use. I had used EVOO alone and with caster oil and wasn't quite satisfied with the results. I did get a little more glowy with EVOO, but it wasn't the best. Then I tried a honey mask and noticed that my skin turned whiter and more even (I have red "circles" over my cheeks, that I always have to cover with foundation). Today I tried honey, EVOO, a few drops caster oil, and some sugar. I first mixed the honey, EVOO, and caster oil together in a bowl and applied to washed and slightly moist and steamed face and rubbed it in for a good few minutes. Then I steamed my face again, paying attention to my nose where I get blackheads, and added sugar to the leftovers in the bowl. I took the sugar mix and applied it to my face, scrubbing gently. Then I went and watched the rest of my movie and steamed my face again and wiped it off with a hot washcloth. I wiped off all the sugar, but not all of the oil, and in about ten minutes, the olive oil had soaked into my skin, making it feel extra extra soft. As an added bonus, my skin was almost white!! It was amazing! I think if I keep this up, I will no longer need to wear foundation! Even the SO noticed! Not only does honey get rid of unwanted redness on skin, but I find that it also makes my lips even redder. How about that? I look like an old Hollywood actress (albeit Asian) even without makeup. Edit: One thing you have to remember is to wait a few minutes before seeing the results. My redness still showed up as I was washing my face and for a few minutes after, but in about 10 minutes it evened out. Caster oil is also not necessary, but I add it because I have it

Blush -L'Oreal - True Match super blendable blush n1-2 precious peach
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 4/13/2008 6:32:00 PM

I loved this! It's the perfect peach blush and shows up great on my skin. My only complaint would be that it stained my white fantail brush ever so slightly, and I had to wash it quite a few times which made a few hairs fall out.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 4/13/2008 6:23:00 PM

I don't understand why most people didn't like this mascara. It's my HG of drugstore/everyday use mascara! Sure, it doesn't give me as much volume as Bourjois Volume Clubbing (my other HG), but it's great for every day use and it doesn't smell at all. Doesn't clump, but it does tend to take the natural curl out of my lashes a little. I like the brush and the large package because it lets me grip the brush easier. It's WAY better than Rimmel Volume Flash. If you have problems with flakes or raccoon eyes, it's probably your lids, not the mascara, IMO.

Lip Treatments -Carmex - CHERRY Click-Stick
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 4/2/2008 6:28:00 PM

I LOVE Carmex! Someone mentioned it on the boards and I happened to pick up a tube at Target. I've been looking for something for years to replace my Natural Ice cherry chapstick after they discontinued it, and I think I'm going to stick with Carmex! It's much cheaper and more effective than the others out there. I like the slightly waxy feel, but it's a lot less waxy than Chapstick. This is a must-have for me. The yellow and red tube might be tacky, but at least I always know where it is in my makeup bag!

Mascara -Bourjois - Volume Clubbing
rated 5 of 5
tsunamino 3/29/2008 3:29:00 AM

This is the best mascara I've come across. It gives dramatic effects, but it is a bit hard to take off, and clumps if you don't use it properly. Read tutorials online on how to use the brush properly, and you'll get amazing results. When taking it off, make sure that you follow the natural way your lashes grow out instead of scrubbing back and forth and you won't lose any lashes that way!
