Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Matte Finish by Kate Moss
trisheee 5/18/2013 10:58:00 AM
The color #109 is absolutely stunning! Finally, a bright (almost red) shade that really flatters my medium NW30 skin tone! When turned 45 I had to rethink the whole red lip look as I felt it further aged my features. I actually grieved for the days when I could slap on any color and go. Since then, I'm 51 now, I've searched in vain for a red that I could wear with confidence knowing it looks great. 109 is the one! The most perfect red with a bit orange (70/30) that's not too bright but just bright enough to light up the complexion. It's matte but not drying. And its opaque but not thick and gloppy in texture. It glides on like silk...expensive silk with substance! I adore this shade...and it adores me! And, as if it weren't enough to find the perfect shade the formulation is out of this world amazing! I've had absolutely no issues with dryness, uneven fading, or patchiness. I apply a very thin layer of lip balm under it and I get about 5 hours of wear before I need to re-apply. In addition, there's no unsightly traveling in the fine lines above my lip...this stuff stays put. I can't sing the praises of this lipstick enough. I'll have to get more shades 'cause I'm wearing this one out! But you can bet I'll get a backup of this gorgeous color! It's perfect for spring and summer...and so affordable, too. I never thought I'd say this but, this is my Holy Grail lipstick!!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Peach Petal
trisheee 5/12/2013 11:10:00 AM
This shade is a bit milky in color when worn by itself and I wasn't too crazy about it when i tried it on my bare lips (NW30). But over my bright lipsticks, stains and matte lippies it transforms the look beautifully with almost anything I pair it with it. It looks especially lovely when I want to tone down bright orangey shades and gives them a gorgeous summer peachy look. I have (and love) other colors from this line and they've always been my favorite formulations...outperforming most of my high end glosses. I love that they're not sticky and too thick but just the right consistency that provides comfortable wear. The square tube looks so lovely and chic and makes me smile every time I reach for it. I spotted them on clearance at Walgreens this week and bought back ups of all my favorite colors. I sure hope Revlon is just repackaging these. Why would they discontinue this line when it's loved by so many? Revlon...please don't take this away!!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Gray-T Escape
trisheee 5/8/2013 4:06:00 PM
If you're looking for the most perfect, elegant, undersated, classy, greigey pink your search is over!. Like other reviewers I carried this nail polish around in the store going back and forth on whether or not to buy it. I have so many nude pinky greys that just don't look right with my cool coloring that I swore I'd never buy another and just quit searching. That is until this baby showed up. Oh my but it's beautiful! Delicate, but it makes a statement. It has that kind of futuristic , clean minimalist look...polished and utterly gorgeous! I can't stop raving about it or looking at it on my fingertips. Everyone and I mean everyone (that wears nail polish) has asked me "who makes that and where can I get it!?". The color pairs well with my wardrobe of neutral clothes and looks great with pops of any color, too. I used a $4 off coupon (in this weeks Sunday paper) for any Sally Hansen polish over $5 and these were on sale for $5.99 at walgreens this week. 99 cents for my HG shade is not bad! I have other colors in this line and love the formula...even the wide brush. If you take nothing else away from this review and you want this polish brand/color to remain chip-free for (at the very least) 4 days, and up to a week, then do not use a base or top coat...they're already built-in. Believe me, I've tried all variations of each and this polish alone works far better by itself than with anything under or over it. I'm going on my 6th day with this color and not a single chip. It's quite shocking as everything chips on me within the 1st day! If you love light beige, with a hint of gray, pink and lavender (no shimmer) then you're gonna be in love with this polish!!

Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Last Lip Wear Caramel
trisheee 5/3/2013 1:12:00 PM
Once in awhile I like to wear a shimmery neutral color in place of my usual bright creamy lipsticks, and this one fits the bill quite nicely. I wouldn't have glanced twice at these had I not fallen in love with the "Sherry Sparkle" shade a colleague of mine wears frequently. I have a separate review on that one. Both caramel and sherry sparkle are gorgeous, similar in shade, and understated neutral lipsticks that tie whole look together without appearing too bright or shimmery. Caramel is a light coppery pink with a touch of brown. I do NOT look good in brown lipsticks but this one has warmth and a peachiness to it. In the tube it looks a little 70's frosty brown, but on my lips it just looks classy and elegant...especially in warmer months when I have more color on my skin. Looks lovely with my (faux) tan. I'm impressed with this lipstick, shade range and the fact that it doesn't dry out my lips...like so many others. I get at least a few hours of wear, and it's super easy to touch up...just swipe and go. I'm not crazy about the packaging as it doesn't roll down all the way but I've depotted it into a lipstick palette and reach for it often now. These look and wear like much higher end lipsticks for around $2.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Embark eye shadow
trisheee 3/24/2013 12:34:00 PM
I received this eyeshadow in a swap and am surprised at what a beautiful difference it makes when I blend it in and slightly above the crease. This shade opens my eyes right up and they appear fresh and wide awake. I also have the supposed dupe in wet n wild's vanity palette, but I don't feel it's an exact dupe, in fact, the wet n wild shade makes my eyes look a little tired and red, but embark has the opposite effect. This eyeshadow can be worn sheer or built up for more intesitity. For reference I'm NW25 and my eyes are a light golden brown. I like to use a matte cream shade on the lid and embark in the cease for that perfect neutral, well rested look. I also smudge a little underneath the outer half of my lash line. My other brown shadows are getting so jealous...I can't bring myself to use anything else as this looks so darn pretty! This shade is quite a unique brown in that it has a deep burgundy purplish undertone that's neither warm nor cool but perfectly neutral, so I can wear it with almost any other color. Yes, I'm thrilled with embark and will most definitely repurchase.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara
trisheee 2/15/2013 12:19:00 PM
I thought this would have gotten a lot more love after looking at many reviews and demo's on You tube. I was compelled to give it a try after seeing long, lush, and perfectly separated lashes. And so I did. Im pretty picky when it comes to mascara and I quite like this one...in waterproof. A few days ago one of my friends asked " since when have you started wearing false lashes?". Yep...it does that, and more! It gave my puny sparse lashes a real boost in terms of length, separation and fullness. And I didn't get any smearing, smudging, or flaking with it. I find it on the drier side but I much prefer that rather than wet gloppy mascaras. I didn't think I'd ever find a mascara that could rival Maybelline one by one WP, but this one is fast becoming a favorite. I got it in blackest black and it is, indeed, very black. I've only been using it for a week and will update if anything changing. But so far, so good...very good in fact. Absolutely worth a try IMO.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Revitalift Miracle Blur
trisheee 2/8/2013 8:28:00 PM
Would I buy this again? Hell yes! I must have at least 15 primers (at every price) in my vanity drawer and none of them hold a candle to this stuff. I'm not even sure if it is an actual primer because I read a few reviews stating they put this on after their makeup. Anyway, I use it after my moisturizer (with SS) and wait a few minutes (while I admire how this blurs my lines and makes my skin look like velvet) then apply my foundation. Holy buckets, I'm shocked and amazed at how perfect my skin looks when I use this first. Because I use retinol my face always appears shiny and I don't care to powder it because then it looks cakey...More mature skin types will understand this. But with this product I don't really need powder to get a velvety finish. The price is steep but well worth it IMHO. Definitely pick up a sample if you spot one. I don't notice any unpleasant fragrance and it doesn't feel thick on my face, unless I use too much. I use a small dollop about the size of a peanut and smooth it all over my face and neck. Some days I can just wear this, concealer, blush and mascara for a totally natural, yet polished look. I've never tried anything quite like this and am so fearful they'll discontinue it. A silly thought but I have to wonder if L'oreal priced this high knowing we'd become addicted and pay any price for it! Huge rave!

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush Mellow Mauve
trisheee 1/25/2013 2:51:00 PM
Am I the only one that thinks this color resembles Tarte's "exposed" blush? It was almost a spot on dupe when swatched. That day I wore exposed on one cheek and mellow mauve on the other then asked my daughter to tell me which was which. She couldn't and said they looked exactly the same. In terms of color they're close but formulation and lasting power... not so much. Tarte wins hands down. However, if you're looking for an affordable dupe check out Mellow mauve. It's a neutral toned blush leaning on the cool side that seems to flatter almost every eye look and lip I pair it with. For reference I'm NW30. It's not heavily pigmented but easy to layer for more opacity. I get a full days wear from this and it does not fade on me. I don't see shimmer but there is a barely noticeable glow. I'm loving this blush and find myself reaching for it often as it's a no brainer and goes with everything. $3 at Target. A steal IMHO.

Lip Treatments -Eucerin - Aquaphor Healing Ointment for Lips
trisheee 12/16/2012 1:52:00 PM
Ive tried all the top rated lip balms and This is the ONLY one that has truly made a difference on my chapped lips. I only bought it because I had a $2 off coupon which made it almost free. I wear lipstick and/ or gloss daily, so my lips are consistently dry and uncomfortable by bedtime. Once I started using this lip repair I haven't had a single issue with dry or chapping lips. This literally healed them overnight...the first night. I also use it to prep my lips while I'm applying makeup then tissue it off before lipstick. I can't believe the improvement...and so fast! It says "immediate relief" on the tube and they're not kidding! Try this before bedtime if you want to wake up with baby soft lips in the morning. HG all the way...and back! I'll never be without this lip balm again!

Blush -NYX - Rouge Cream Blush
trisheee 11/15/2012 10:48:00 AM
I have these in almost every shade but Natural is my favorite! The all apply beautifully and easily but are very pigmented and only a little smidge is needed so they last a long time...and I use them quite often. I find they're much better to apply with a brush rather than my fingers and this provides a very natural, luminous (but not shimmery) and long lasting finish. You can't beat these cream blushes at this price. I have many other HE brands and these compare favorably. I can't wait to try the previous reviewiers suggestion on applying it with a damp beauty blender. These blushes are practically foolproof and you can get them for a steal!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo rich mahogany
trisheee 10/19/2012 2:00:00 PM
The first time I tried this e/s I wasn't really happy with the formulation. It just wouldn't blend well for me. I adore the color but couldn't get it to work. After sitting in my MU drawer for a couple weeks I pulled it out and tried it again...with a stiffer, denser blending brush. YES...I'm in LOVE!! Not sure if it dried a little in the pot or if it was the brush, but after coming back to it two weeks later made all the difference in the world. It was so easy to layer for a little, or a a lot of intensity. And the color...omg, so gorgeous on my light brown eyes! I used a primer first then put this in, and slightly above, the crease and it blended out beautifully. Note that my eyelids aren't the youngest, nor the smoothest, but this didn't highlight that, as some shimmery shadows tend to do. I'd say this is more matte than shimmer. Although there is a touch of sheen it's just enough to light up the eyes! After wearing this from morning to night it stays fresh looking and just applied. No creasing or fading...on me. I'm enamored of this little pot of brown eyeshadow and have worn it everyday this week. If I find this again I will most definitely purchase a back up.

Eye Shadow -Annabelle - Haute Chocolate Trio Eyeshadow
trisheee 9/27/2012 11:41:00 AM
Got to jump on the bandwagon! I received this in a swap and couldn't be happier! It deserves all the raves it's gotten. Smooth, silky, highly pigmented and the colors are so gorgeous! If you live where this is available, and you like the colors, don't hesitate to pick this up. It's one of the best eyesahdow formulations I've ever tried. And the staying power is awesome. Fabulous little trio!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - COLOR TATTOO barely beige
trisheee 9/21/2012 11:35:00 AM
This was a very nice surprise! I love a little shimmer but can't wear powder shimmer any where near my actual eyelid because it transfers so badly to my crease whenever I blink. Not a good look for more mature hooded eyes..IMHO. However, this beautiful cream shimmer shadow dries fast enough so that it doesn't transfer. Yippee! Once it's on it doesn't budge. Now my eyes can sparkle and shine again! Please note that it's not too shimmery...there's NO glitter here, just a beautiful understated sheen. I think it's very appropriate for eyes of all ages, and it plays extremely well with any other type or color of eyeshadow. Thank you Maybelline!

Treatments -Neutrogena - Rapid Wrinkle Repair night moisturizer
trisheee 9/20/2012 10:38:00 AM
Hold the phone! This night treatment is miraculous! I've been using the rapid wrinkle eye cream and it was working really well so I thought I'd see how this one performs. And based on the all the good reviews how could I resist? Wow! It's a powerful workhorse that softens, smooths and makes my complexion much more radiant than any other treatment product I've tried...at any price. And let me tell you, in my 50 years, I've tried a few! This treatment does exactly what it claims to do. It really does soften those pesky lines...especially around the eyes and above my lip. I've been using it at night for 3 weeks and have noticed a huge improvement not only in the lines but how smooth and glowing it makes my skin. My skin is dry and sensitive with a few lines/crepyness and I have some unevenness and discoloration...it's addressing all of it. The only slight issue I have is with the fragrance. IMHO it smells yucky. It may not bother some but I just don't care for it. However, I'll gladly put up with smell because it works so incredibly well. And all for about $17. I've used retinol products at 10 times that price that didn't work half as well. One pump the size of pea covers my face and neck. I started using it every other night for about a week, as I'm sensitive to retinol, after one week I applied every night. And then i just watched while the clock turned back on face. A HG night treatment for me!! Edit 2/10/13: I wouldn't dream of switching to another treatment. I'm so completely satisfied and pleased with how much my skin has improved since I started using this! My fine lines have improved by at least 50% and the overall tone by even more. My face and neck aren't anywhere near as blotchy and discolored as they were. And no more dry patches...anywhere. Excellent treatment. Affordable, too.
