I've been on this for 9 days (2x/day) and my skin has cleared up dramatically in that short time. My face is always covered with clogged pores and pimples. I'm 36 and I can't remember a time when I ever had clear skin. This product has really impressed me so far at how fast and completely it is working. It has a dry gritty texture, somewhat similar to RAM, that takes a little getting used to. It does make my skin feel a little tight but that's remedied with my sunscreen layered over it during the day. At night I let it stay dry. I tried to layer a moisturizer over it but that didn't work very well. I've had zero irritation and zero purging =) My clogged pores are literally drying up and flaking off my skin. They feel like grains of sand lol! I'm still using the samples my derm gave me but am getting ready to fill the prescription. I've heard it's crazy expensive but for clear skin it's worth it to me. I've wasted so much money on ineffective products and derm procedures! It's time to finally spend my money on something that works! Excited to see my skin get better and better with Aczone!
Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser

I see that this product works for many people but for me... this stuff is from Satan himself. This gave me the worst rash of breakouts I've gotten in a very long time. Maybe it's the soy sterol or maybe the feverfew but my skin hated this cleanser =( Besides that, the pump stuck like crazy, the foam had no feeling of being creamy like it claims, and it made my oily skin feel dry and cracked. Yuck Yuck Yuck!
This did absolutely nothing. Didn't make me more matte or help keep my makeup on. It's like I had no primer on at all. I used this on one side of my face and used Too Faced Primed and Poreless on the other side. I did this for three days. At the end of each day I looked like I only had makeup on the TF P&P side. The Cover FX side had caused my makeup to melt away. Glad I only got a sample of this and didn't buy the full size!!!
Primer/ Corrector -Sephora - Smoothing & Mattifying

Ugh! Thank goodness I only had the sample of this! It kept me matte for about two hours the first time I used it. After that it looked completely disgusting. I literally had pools of oil in my pores =( I tried it two more times and the oil slick came on faster. It went in the trash!
Pressed Powders -E.L.F. - Translucent Mattifying Powder
treyscrap 4/12/2010 12:25:00 AM
I really like this powder and am puzzled by the negative reviews. It blurs out my large pores to barely noticeable without adding any unwanted color to my face. I use the sponge to apply, then follow up with a soft kabuki to buff in. On me, I find the coverage to be that of a light foundation. Much more than any other pressed powder I've tried. This doesn't get cakey or oxidize, however I wish the mattifying effect lasted a little bit longer. I get about 4 hours shine free with this. It is very easy to touch up though so it's ok. For three bucks... you can't beat it!!!
Way too sparkly. These shades don't have shimmer or sheen, they have chunks of glitter. That really surprised me. They are really soft and blend very easily so it was hard to make any one color stand out. In the Green with Envy quad, I like the blackened green shade and felt the glitter suited that color the best out of all of them. Very disappointed =(
Nothing special here. Curled exactly the same as my cheapo Revlon gold one. It looked a little wider and flatter than my Revlon so I thought it would reach more lashes but it didn't. I also don't like the fact that you can't buy refills for it. It will be going back to Sephora =(
At first I liked this. It went on pretty "dry" without clumps. It wasn't all goopy on the brush. The huge brush made it hard to reach all my lashes but I thought it was pretty good. Several hours later I realized that it had flaked all over my cheeks. Not cool. Tried it a second time and it did the same thing. I would not repurchase.
Cleansers -Equate - 3-1 Facial Cleansing Towelettes

These are fantastic! They remove everything, including stubborn colorstay and waterproof mascara. I use these wipes as a precleanse before my grapeseed oil wash. I've bought these over and over and will continue to do so. Easy to find and super cheap! Love!
Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sunblock spf 70

Hmmm this stuff is definitely different than most SS's out there. This is my first time using it but I wanted to make note of some first impressions. I will update this review after a week of use =) * You have to shake this before using and since it has a ball inside to help with this, I felt like I was using an old school nail polish haha! * Very thin consistency, not oily at all, sinks in VERY fast. I used a line of product the length of my ring finger to apply but felt like I could've used a little more. *It smells vile but it goes away as it dries down, which did I mention before is VERY fast? * It does have a slight sheen to it after dry down but it's easily covered up with foundation or powder. * I'm not totally confident that this will protect me from the sun since it feels like absolutely NOTHING. It is so different from any other SS I've tried though so I may have gotten used to the whole thick-sticky-white cast mess of the others. * I have normal/slightly oily Tzone and this stuff does not moisturize for me at all. It absolutely requires another light product or serum underneath. * I brought it up all the way under my eyes and I do feel some tightness there along with the rest of my face. I'm hoping this will change when I put a light moisturizer underneath. It does give a completely matte finish without anything underneath. * It is available in SPF 55 and SPF 70 (the one I'm reviewing). I compared the labels and everything is exactly the same in both. Percentages of SS actives are the same and the list of ingredients are exactly in the same order. I'm not sure how they can provide different SPF's with the same exact info lol! * It's 1.4oz and I got mine at my local grocery store (HEB) for $11.99. UPDATE: Oh I hate to ruin the great reviews this is getting but it seriously did not work for me =( I couldn't even get through a week with it! My face felt tight and dry no matter what kind of moisturizer I put underneath. My skin isn't really dry to begin with (normal/combo) so this was pretty strange for me. It might be one of the chemical SS's to blame, I'm not sure. It is a very unique product though and I'm glad to see so many people happy with it. I still gave it three lippies since it's probably my sensitive skin to blame.
This is the only SS my 7 year old's skin can tolerate. We've tried SO many and this is the only one that keeps him from getting a sunburn and doesn't give him a bumpy rash. I've bought this over and over again and will continue to do so =)
Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
treyscrap 3/7/2010 8:35:00 AM
I bought this based on the excellent reviews here (they were 100% repurchase at the time) and was very disappointed with it. I do use a primer on a daily basis (TF Primed and Poreless) so I'm aware of the difference a GOOD primer can make. This stuff made my CS foundation look worse than if I never had primer on at all. It made my foundation uneven, made my pores stand out, and highlighted fine lines that PnP usually smooths over. My foundation looked like I had slept in it only a couple hours after applying. After several attempts this went right back to Walgreens =(
The color on this came out very true to the box and what I was expecting. I got a level lighter than I actually planned since home dyes always come out dark on me. BUT... this stuff caused my hair to break off and now I've got little frizzy pieces everywhere!!! Not happy. I've been using box dyes for a long time and I followed the instructions exactly. Never again with this stuff!!!
Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Naturale Mineral Concealer
treyscrap 2/15/2010 2:37:00 PM
I keep coming back to this powder concealer =) It's lightweight, doesn't cake, covers undereye circles, acne scars and blemishes equally well. Looks a lot more natural than liquid concealer... on me anyways. I actually like the packaging with the attached brush, unlike some reviewers here. I think it's handy and makes it easy to apply sparingly (that's key with this stuff). I've bought this several times on a BOGO sale and it's very economical at that price =)
This stuff makes my hair like straw. I'm so surprised because it has so many softening ingredients in it. Maybe my hair doesn't like the protein in it? I don't know but I really did want to like this! Got a full unused one up for swap =)
