Lipstick -Milani - Sheer Color in Naturelle
rated 5 of 5
treegap 9/13/2006 4:52:00 PM

Holy Grail, for sure. I finally tracked these sheer lipsticks down after hearing so many raves on the MU board about them. I picked two up last night (Caramel and Cafe Stop) and three more today (Naturelle, Choco-Lite and Halo). Naturelle is a gorgeous color that definitely would flatter most, if not all, skin tones. On me, it is "My Lips But Better" pinky/beigy/nude color. I love that it's not shimmery, just shiny and moisturizing and pretty! I can't wait to try out the other colors. I will definitely use this up and buy it again and again.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Elucence - Moisture Balancing
rated 5 of 5
treegap 2/16/2006 12:15:00 PM

I adore this conditioner. It is a wonderful consistency: not too thin, but not so heavy that it weighs down hair. I have fine, dry hair and this stuff works wonders. It is so moisturizing and works well as a leave-in, too! Also, the smell is to die for...peachy creamy and delicious! I am getting ready to buy this in the liter size. Definitely a staple for me!

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Elucence Moisture Benefits
rated 5 of 5
treegap 2/16/2006 12:13:00 PM

This is definitely a staple for me. I love how moisturizing this shampoo is. It lathers just enough for me to work it through my hair without scrubbing too hard. It smells wonderfully peachy creamy and it really is just a wonderful shampoo for anyone with dry hair. Also, despite its moisturizing properties, it does not weigh my fine hair down at all. I love this stuff and am getting to ready to purchase the liter size.

Cleansers -Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
rated 5 of 5
treegap 2/16/2006 12:02:00 PM

Wow! I love this new balm. It works like a cleansing oil, but is much easier to use since it is in solid form. It completely took off all my makeup, including waterproof mascara with a minimal amount of scrubbing and tugging. My eyes are sensitive and I wear contacts, so I'm always searching for products that will help me remove makeup without tearing apart my face. This stuff is great and very gentle. Will definitely purchase again when I run out.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Cherry Blossom Body Lotion
rated 4 of 5
treegap 10/20/2005 2:28:00 PM

I got a trial size of this free awhile ago and used about half of it up. I recently took it out to finish off the bottle (trying to clean out bathroom shelves!) and was reminded of what a lovely scent this is. It's slightly sweet and I usually don't care for sweet fragrances on my body, but this sits very well with me. It wears down to a nice, comforting floral scent. The lotion itself is not moisturizing enough for me in the drier, colder months, but for spring and summer, I liked this a lot!

Lip Treatments -Philosophy - Kiss Me lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
treegap 10/20/2005 2:21:00 PM

I have the red version in the pot. I have gone through about 3 jars of this stuff; it's fantastic! I prefer not to carry pot gloss around because it gets dirty, but I keep this on my nightstand and use it every night before I go to bed. I wake up with perfectly soft lips. The scent is wonderful and the consistency is exactly the way I prefer in a balm; it's glossy and stays put without being ooey gooey. A staple for sure.

Cleansers -Basis - Sensitive Skin Bar
rated 5 of 5
treegap 10/20/2005 2:16:00 PM

Ohhh...I love Basis Sensitive Skin Bar. I was using Dove for sensitive skin but I ran out and could only find this at the store. It is a wonderful bar for facial cleansing. The lather is creamy, but not heavy or sticky. It rinses clean and never leaves my face dry. The bar was a good size; lots of product, but not too unwieldy. I also love the VERY subtle scent. This is my current favorite. So cheap, too!

Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - dr bronners assorted scented castille soaps
rated 4 of 5
treegap 7/15/2005 4:11:00 PM

I really like Dr. Bronner's soaps in both bar and liquid form. They are simple, non-drying and environmentally friendly. I particularly like the peppermint, baby, lemon, almond, and eucalyptus versions, although they're all pretty great. I don't find them harsh at all, though I suppose in the wintertime, I would follow up with moisturizer (I need to with any cleanser, anyway). I like that they don't contain SLS or other irritating surfactants. I was a little weirded out and curious about the label ramblings as well, but after reading a bit about the man behind the soap and the family that runs the company, I feel fine about supporting them. Better, anyway, than about supporting companies that might test on animals or use ingredients commonly tested on animals. I emailed the company with a question about the soap and one of the sons promptly responded with a very kind and informative answer to my question.

Styling Products -Dove - Smooth & Soft Anti-Frizz Cream
rated 2 of 5
treegap 7/15/2005 4:02:00 PM

I got a free sample of this when I purchased Dove shampoo and conditioner. I tried it anticipating that it would leave my hair feeling weighed down and greasy like most other smoothing hair products. To my surprise, it really did live up to the lightweight claims! I found that the consistency was easy to work into my wet hair and it did not leave it feeling heavy or greasy. It did a moderate job of smoothing and defrizzing my hair which, while long and straight/wavy, can get pretty frizzed out in the humidity. I used up the sample and would consider buying a full size of this product. UPDATE: The silicones are drying my hair out! It worked for a few weeks and then started to lose effect. I'll use sparingly, if at all.

Tools -Shiseido - The Skincare Cleansing Massage Brush
rated 5 of 5
treegap 7/15/2005 3:58:00 PM

I love this brush. It is not too harsh at all on my sensitive skin. It exfoliates just enough to leave a glow, but not too much that you can't use it every day. I usually use it once a day, or every other day and find that it really does leave my skin healthier looking and smoother. I like that it has the massage nubs, in addition to the super soft brush bristles. Like all Shiseido products, the packaging is beautiful.

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash 60 sec. Mask Scrub [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
treegap 7/15/2005 3:53:00 PM

This product is pretty good. I like that it tingles and leaves my sensitive skin feeling very fresh and clean without stripping it dry. I also like the dual purpose of the mask + scrub. It doesn't irritate my skin at all and has a cooling effect. I usually leave it on for more than 60 seconds to maximize the mask action. Overall good product.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
treegap 7/15/2005 3:21:00 PM

Definitely the best mascara I've tried. Also, the non-waterproof version is great. This stuff is a new staple. It volumizes, lengthens, curls, does whatever magic it does to make my sparse, thin, Asian lashes look amazing. It also layers fairly well, so if you're looking for a really dramatic evening look, it easily will do that. I love this stuff. And yes, the woman at the Lancome counter tried to sell me some eye makeup remover, too, which I declined. I find that it comes off just fine with a combination of my DHC cleansing oil and whatever facial cleanser I happen to be using. Holds up well throughout the day, but doesn't seem particularly stubborn to take off at night. I love this mascara!!

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Volume Mascara
rated 3 of 5
treegap 7/15/2005 3:17:00 PM

I wanted to love this product as I am a serious Shiseido fan, but I don't. It volumizes to SOME degree, but not in any dramatic way. It is a pretty average mascara, in my opinion that I will certainly use, but am not ultra impressed with. It didn't clump, which was nice, and went on pretty smoothly. I did find, however that it takes forever to dry! It seemed to get on my face more than other mascaras.

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Mascara Base [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
treegap 7/15/2005 3:13:00 PM

This is a great great product! This base really thickens, extends and helps hold a curl with your mascara of choice. I have relatively thin and sparse Asian lashes and this has always enhanced whatever mascara I was using at the time. It's easy to apply and has removed easily with a variety of eye makeup removers. I love this stuff!!

Treatments (Eye) -Shiseido - Benefiance Revitalizing Eye Cream [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
treegap 7/15/2005 3:10:00 PM

Wow! This eye cream certainly does moisturize! I find it's perfect for the winter and times when my skin is particularly dry. I only use it at night and the small jar has lasted me quite awhile. To me, it is a luxurious face product that I use sparingly, but enjoy quite a bit. It's a tad too expensive and rich in consistency to slather on liberally.
