Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 1 of 5
toxik 1/3/2008 1:22:00 PM

This is Lash BLAH for me. Didnt work at all. It has a rubber bristles like wand.
I have asian, straight pointing down lashes if i do not curl them. That said, i curl my lashes all the time before putting on any mascara.
Heard so much about this mascara, when i got it, I was SOOO disappointed.
Even with a primer, it doesnt work much.

Mascara -Kanebo - kate mascara base
rated 3 of 5
toxik 11/9/2007 7:57:00 PM

Sorry, I know i'm gonna pull down the overall rating of this mascara base. But anyway, Mascara bases and I CANNOT WORK. This mascara contains ALOT of fibres, which i believe is to lengthen your lashes. Pros: - Holds the curl REALLY well. The only thing I'm impressed about this product.
- Is slightly transparent (BUT NOT TRANSPARENT) with a whitish/greyish tint.
- EASILY removable by eye mu remover!!! Compared to that freaking Maybelline XXL, this is NOTHING. Cons: - Still able to see the whiteish/greyish tint after 2-3 coatings of my mascara. I have to coat alot of times just to get the unslightly colour covered.
- Does not make my mascaras result in less smudging.
**Update**: Changing rating to 3.5>4 (but MUA doesnt have such rating, lol). It doesnt deserve 4 lippies yet, maybe somewhere along 3.8, but i think i prefer to use mascaras along with this product nowadays. I can tell the difference when im using or NOT using this primer. Mascara-ed lashes look better (longer..) Changed option of repurchasing to yes, because this is the one of the better drugstore primers IMO. I'd say give it try if you can get your hands on it!
p/s: i often see people asking if there are any drugstore primers, i wanna type Kate, but this is not available in US

Eyeliner -Kanebo - KATE Gel Eye Liner
rated 4 of 5

Click Continued >> for a pic and better viewing results of Kate Powder Gel Liner in BK-2 review.

I have always been a fan of gel liners (MAC Fluidlines esp.). When I heard Kate is offering a range of gel liners, I was excited to try it. I bought my very first Kate Powder Gel Liner in BK-2, a black colour (very very very slight hint of greyness in it, ok what I mean is, it is not a TRUE Black colour) with glitter shimmers.

When you purchase a Kate Powder Gel Liner, it'll come along with a brush. I think this'd be a great buy for anyone who's new to gel-liners, you do not have to look for a brush to go along with the gel liner. I didn't like the brush though, I'm better off working with my angled brush from the craft store.

Staying power was pretty good because I have damn freaking oily lids, it stayed put throughout the day except for the inner corners, which faded abit (but then again I have the itch-iest hand ever, I tend to touch the inner corners of my eyes alot, so I don't know if I could have rubbed off the liner when I did that, or did the liner faded by itself due to my oily lids)

The best part? NO SMUDGING!!! I'm always on a search for non-smudge mascaras and liners!! Mascaras no luck. :( liners: MAC f/l and Kate. Bobbi Brown smudges on me!

Ok now the cons: the glitters/shimmers present in BK-2, fall out of them sometimes happens and land on my undereye area (a few tiny pieces only) Here's the thing. I may not advice you to get it in this shade if you're a contact lens wearer. Some of the glitter/shimmers fell into my eyes, no biggie. But when i removed my eye makeup, I felt some pain in my eyes, prolly due to the sparkles. I think my tears washed them out after that :) No no, not crying. My eyes got sensitive and starting tearing, thus washing out the irritants :)

Overall, an inexpensive "drugstore" brand to try out, and I am looking to repurchase in shade PU-2.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish - Porcelain Pink
rated 4 of 5
toxik 8/17/2007 8:42:00 AM

I love this! Favourite(st) highlighter for the moment! I find this gives me similar effect to Barbie's Pearl Blossom BP. HOWEVER, I love this like 10million times better because
1) the shimmers in PP are goldish, perfect for my asian skin colour. PB BP has silver shimmers - a little cool tone, but its very nice for a highlighter too anyway.
2) OMGZXGZXGX GLOW!!!!!
3) i find that the texture of this MSF is similar of that to Shimpagne and Shooting Star MSFs, all of them are from the Amuse collection anyway. They have shimmers - not glitters (which i hate!!!) in the newer MSFs. I should have included a comparison pic of Pearl Sunshine too, but it didnt occur to me.
Anyway, PP and PB are the ones with pink glows. PS appears peachy on me.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Northern Light
rated 4 of 5
toxik 7/30/2007 9:17:00 PM

(Click for pictures) O.M.G!! What was I thinking when I compared Northern Lights to Glissade? Yes, they do look similar at first sight, but look here
. Ah, see that? NL is pink-ier and Glissade is peach-ier. NL also has a much better colour payoff than Glissade, and doesnt have that much annoying glitter as compared to Glissade.
I LOVE THIS on my cheeks - its frigging gorgeous and I am regretting that I didn't get a back up (I don't get backups) However, MSFs are enemies with (my) pores, they've all gotten in there, ewww.

Blush -MAC - Smile
rated 5 of 5
toxik 7/29/2007 6:54:00 PM

*I LOVE THIS BLUSH!!!!!* This is the one I also pick up to use on my face whenever I can't decide what blush to use for the day. PLUS its matte, I've been loving matte products nowadays. It's a very natural, soft pink. Could be the HG blush for me. Will definitely repurchase once I run out of it but this is LE :( NC25 StudioFix/Fluid, Asian.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
toxik 7/28/2007 6:17:00 PM

I love this, but it isn't my HG yet because it doesnt quite control oil. I have to pair it up with Blot Powder, yet I still risk looking oily at the end of the day. (reminder: im a oily freak)
I like the coverage it gives, and prefer this over the compact. It can get messy, though, because mine doesn't come with a pump, so I have to pour it out onto my brush. Also, its packaging is made of glass. (klutz alert!)
Then again, I like how the glass packaging kinda glams up the whole foundation bottle.

Highlighters -MAC - Barbie-Pearl Blossom
rated 4 of 5
toxik 7/28/2007 6:09:00 PM

I have this and Pearl Sunshine, and you can take a look of my review over the Sunshine page. I love this, but not as much as Sunshine mainly because it's TOO pink on my yellowish skin. It's beautiful as a highlighter.
Don't think it works using as a blush for me because I'll only end up looking with "I PUT LIGHT PINK HIGHLIGHTER ON MY CHEEKSSS" face.
Also, building up the colour as a blush will cause my face to look 'frosty'. However, I like the cute packaging of Barbie :)

Highlighters -MAC - Barbie - Pearl Sunshine
rated 5 of 5
toxik 7/28/2007 6:03:00 PM

I love this!!!!!!!!! It's the perfect Peach. Also, it really gives the "sunshine" look. Beautiful alone or over a blush.
I own both Pearl Sunshine & Pearl Blossom, I must say I prefer this over Blossom because I'm an Asian, so the peach colour suits me more than the pink would.
Definitely repurchase again! I wish it isn't limited edition! I also like the cute packaging of Barbie :)

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 3 of 5
toxik 7/28/2007 6:00:00 PM

It's ok. I prefer the fluid one more. Gives good coverage, but oil control ain't really there. Hate the sponge compartment, it was a little too thin for other sponges, can't imagine it being packaged even bulkierrrrr though.

MAC Studio Fix/Fluid NC25.

*Update*: you know, this thing is crazy. some days it gives good coverage, some days it is just crap! remember to moisturize well when you use this product (which i think IMO, is not a foundation for dry skin in this case) because this product will emphasize blotchiness.
Will not repurchase because im sure there are better products out there, and cheaper.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum Express Mascara
rated 3 of 5
toxik 7/28/2007 5:57:00 PM

Lengthens slightly, and volumizes alot. I LOVE IT if not for the fact that it smudged on me. Curl could not be held throughout the day.

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Prep + Prime Skin
rated 3 of 5
toxik 7/28/2007 5:50:00 PM

When i first used this product, I noticed that my foundation glides on smoother. Also found slight shimmers in it. Oil control is actually not there but helped a little wee bit.
I'm a oily girl though. Pores - did not fill in much, there is very very very little effect that I didn't even notice about it.
However, I find that without this primer, foundations could not be applied as smoothly as I want them to be.
For example, I tried my Alima MM foundation the other day without using this primer. Oh boy, it was crazy. The powder settled into my pores! So I guess this primer helps a little.
Will stick with it for now, but will not repurchase again.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Perfectly Pink Lipglass
rated 5 of 5
toxik 7/28/2007 3:19:00 PM

As the name goes "Perfectly Pink" - it is indeed perfect! However, this does not appear PINK on me. It is slightly peachy, with pink - i think it depends on how much of it you apply. It goes more pinky with less, and as you build it up, the peachiness shows up more and more.
As always, MAC lipglasses are very sticky, same goes for this. I wish MAC would make more creamy lipglasses though. (shimmerless ones)

Too bad this is LE.

Foundations -Za - Two-Way Foundation SPF20 PA++
rated 4 of 5
toxik 1/30/2007 1:02:00 AM

One of the most affordable, cheap and good foundation in the drugstores in my country. It covers my redness/acne moderately with a swipe of it.
Can totally see the BEFORE AND AFTER difference! However i find that it oxidises pretty fast on me and i look alottt darker after that (but then again i have oily skin so whatever i use oxidises fast) and i had to get a shade darker than my face because of the different skin tone in my neck and face.
I'm still looking around for better foundations, but its highly possible i may repurchase this again if there's a need.

Mascara -Fasio - Power-Stay Mascara 3D Curl Long in Black
rated 3 of 5
toxik 1/28/2007 8:55:00 AM

I bought this mascara after hearing raves about it. Well, i was absolutely amazed by it when i first tried it. It lengthens(those fibres in the mascara!!), volumized a little.
However, im starting to experience problems as time passes.. I realised it smudges at the outter corner of my eyes (when i laugh too hard i think) NOTE: I have oily skin.
The fibres in the tube are getting a little out of control too. Like goopey and all.
Also, its damn hard to remove. I need to use dazillions of eye make up remover to go over my lashes again and again. After cotton pad, and with cotton butt to ensure my lashes' clean.
