Top/Base Coats -Poshe - Super-Fast Drying Top Coat
tori8780 9/7/2012 1:00:00 AM
This is my current HG top coat. Great texture (though it tends to thicken up with use, so you will have to thin it) and dries SUPER QUICK. I prefer this over seche vite because I get less shrinkage. To prevent it I've found its best to let polish dry for a minute or two before applying and always wrap your tips with color and top coat. Dries very quick and is super shiny. Can be purchased at Sally's.
I really like this particular color. I'm a big fan of reds in general and this one is beautiful. It looks great on my NW15 skin and doesnt give me the dreaded lobster hands. It applies very smoothly and is self leveling. Gorgeous red color, though it is a touch frosty.
I'm on the fence with this serum. I've been using it for about 3-4 months now with no visible results. My complexion hasnt magically evened out, its not smoother or clearer. But it also hasnt affected it negatively (no breakouts). This was moisturizing enough for me to use it alone during the summer, but I would need something on top during the winter. Overall, I dont think I would repurchase. It is very expensive, which is fine if I see results, but since I havent I think I will try something else.
All the negative reviews for this make me sad. This is a wonderful, work appropriate jelly polish. All of the soft shade colors in this collection were very pale, and this is not an exception. It builds up to a very soft white, lilac tinted jelly finish with about 3 coats. Personally, I think its beautiful for when I'm after a cleaner or more neutral look. The formula is lovely. It is self leveling and non streaky. This is my second favorite of the entire collection.
Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
tori8780 9/7/2012 12:51:00 AM
This is my HG primer. I have oily eyelids and shadow creases on me by lunch usually. Not with this! I can get a solid 8 hours of wear when I use this. I work 12 hour shifts and it doesnt last til the end without creasing, but I have yet to find anything that lasts that long. I prefer the new squeeze tube packaging. Its easier to get the product and you can get every last bit without sawing open the genie tube. Price is good, because it lasts me forever. Probably at least a year for a full size tube. Overall, an excellent product worth the price.
I really like this primer. I've used it with 5-6 different mascaras and had good experiences with each. It gives a lot of volume and length and just makes my mascara look much nicer overall. I'm on my second tube.
Highlighters -Tarte - Smooth Operator Illuminating Serum
tori8780 10/31/2011 8:12:00 PM
I LOVE this! I use it over my moisturizer then top with powder mineral foundation and it gives me such a nice, dewey glow. I do have a tendency to get oily when I use it, so I just top with SN blur and that does the trick for most of the day. This is my HG and I will most definitely repurchase!
I dont understand the hate for this product. I've been testing it all week and I really, really like it. Yes, its glittery. However, I havent found that to be a problem. I use it under my regular liquid foundation (Carmindy liquid) or a powder (either Palladio wet/dry or Benefit Hello Flawless) and it adds a fantastic luminosity to my face. Not chunky glitter, just a healthy radiance. It also makes my makeup go on really smoothly and last a full day of work (at least 8 hours). I do agree that the packaging sucks. It will be hard to get all the product out, and the top cracked within 2 days. I think a squeeze tube would be much better. Overall, I prefer this primer to all the others I've tried (BE, L'Oreal, Smashbox, Benefit). Also, I think this will be awesome during the winter when my skin is dull and dry.
This is HG for me. I use this as my foundation on days when I'm in a hurry or dont feel like putting on liquid. It gives me beautiful sheer to full coverage with my kabuki, and if I use the little sponge it came with, it covered redness around my nose very nicely. It leaves me very matte throughout the day. I really love this powder. The only thing I dislike is how bulky the package is. Otherwise, I <3 this!
Lipstick -Maybelline - Shine Sensational Pop Stick Citrus Slice
tori8780 8/18/2011 4:29:00 PM
I bought this fully expecting it to be just a sheer, balm like product. As far as that goes, it performs well - smells delicious, decent hydration, light shine. What I wasnt expecting, however, was the taste. I have 2 of these, and they both taste atrocious. I fully admit that I'm a lip licker. But none of my lippies taste like this! Its bitter and just awful in general. Maybe its just me, since I havent seen anyone else complain about it, but both of mine have the same taste and its a deal breaker for me. If they tasted as good as they smelled (or didnt have flavor at all), these would probably be a staple in my purse.
Lips -Clinique - Chubby Stick - Woppin Watermelon *NEW FORMULA*
tori8780 8/11/2011 7:12:00 PM
Overall, my feelings towards Whoppin' Watermelon are lukewarm. I have the Mega Melon and love it, so I bought this one looking for a pink color. For reference, I'm about NW15 and dont feel that I have very pigmented lips at all. This did nothing for me. No pink tint, no shine, nothing. Its essentially chapstick shaped like a marker. The forumla feels nice, but even though it was labeled "sheer pink," I figured there would be SOME color. I'm really disappointed in this one. I might try the strawberry one, but I imagine its a lot brighter than what I'm looking for.
Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Hand and Nail Harmony Gelish Gel Polish
tori8780 8/6/2011 7:35:00 PM
Absolutely amazing! I dont know what I did without this! Yes, it takes longer than a regular manicure (probably about 40 minutes all together), but the results are so worth it. Shiny, chip free nails for around 2 weeks! The initial investment is kind of pricey, I believe I spent about $120 on the UV lamp, foundation, 4 colors and top coat, but I will probably get around a year or more worth of manicures out of this. And considering a gel manicure costs around $40 at my local salon, with just 3 manicures I've already made up what I paid! I really like and recommend gelish if you are like me and like your nails to look nice, but dont have the time to constantly re-polish them when they chip. I will continue purchasing gelish and other brands of SOG nail polish.
Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base
tori8780 8/1/2011 3:40:00 PM
At first I really hated this product. I felt like it did nothing for my redness and left me oily and greasy. I returned it to sephora and moved onto to Lorac Neutralizer. Well, I recently received this in a swap and decided to try it out again. After a little experimenting I have found a routine and I really like it. I apply just a tiny bit of this (almost a pea sized drop) after my moisturizer. I use either a skunk brush or a flat topped brush to apply, then I follow with my tinted moisturizer and powder to set. I HATE the way this applies when I use my fingers, but if I use a brush, its perfection. It hides my redness and leaves a nice canvas for my TM. I dont get very oily anymore either. My tube is just about gone and I'm about to order another one from Sephora.
Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer
tori8780 8/1/2011 11:03:00 AM
I love this stuff. I use it alone with powder on top for a really nice glow, or when I need more coverage I mix it with regular TM or foundation and it adds a very subtle dewiness. I can almost always find it on acw.com for cheap. I've repurchased several times and will continue to do so. This is an HG product for me.
Palettes -Tarte - neutralEYES natural eye shadow palette
tori8780 7/18/2011 10:35:00 AM
I'm very underwhelmed by this palette (I have Volume II). The pigmentation was pretty blah. I had to layer a ton of eyeshadow on to get any sort of color to show up, both with the mattes and shimmers. Strangely, it is also giving me some sort of allergic reaction. Every time I wear it my eyelids hurt/itch. I would not recommend this palette and I think it is very overpriced. A shame, because I love Tarte.
