Lotions/ Creams -Jergens - Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer

This is not my favorite product but it fills a badly needed niche. I have fair skin and my legs are even fairer than my upper body. I use "Fair to Medium" only on my legs in order to "match" my arms and basically to feel comfortable when wearing skirts and shorts. The color change is so subtle that any application mistakes go undetected and application is super fast. The result is a slight coloration which looks realistic. No one would guess I'd used a self-tanning product. The slight color wears off gracefully after a few days. On the negative side, it smells very badly and is so creamy that it does not ever feel as if it has dried properly. I always slip into pj bottoms or I could never sleep with this on because of the odor and stickiness. That said, I'll always keep it on hand for "quickies". If I should want more color and do an all over self-tan, I use Paula's Choice self-tanner, a great product.

Self Tanners -Paula's Choice - Almost the Real Thing-Self Tanning Gel
rated 5 of 5
tloul 6/13/2011 1:44:00 PM

Hallelujah, a self-tanner without an unbearable odor! While applying this, I didn’t smell anything. As the tanning ingredient began to work over the next hour, I did notice the self-tanning odor - but at a fraction of the odor generated by the many brands I've tried previously. With other brands, even after bathing I've had to change bed linens the next morning. This time after bathing, no smelly sheets. To me, application was easy because the product glides on. I applied a light to medium layer of tanner over Cervae body lotion. Like others have mentioned, the tint of the tanner is negligible. I felt sticky until I showered 4 hours later. Lucky for me, not dressing for an hour as recommended was not a problem. The results - a really natural looking tan, which is not always easy to achieve on my fair skin. My natural tan is a golden brown and honestly, I couldn't tell the difference. Other self-tanners I have used have had an uneven "speckled" look on my legs after the 3rd or 4th day or so as they wear away. This is the 7th day since applying PC, I still look like I have a tan and no speckles. I have ordered more tubes. Happy tanning!

Makeup Brushes -Estee Lauder - Foundation Brush
rated 5 of 5

I wouldn't change a thing about this brush. It's the perfectly shaped head and perfect fullness for a seamless foundation application. I find this much easier to work with than the BB foundation brush that I used to own, which was too flat for me and left streaks. I've decided not to use any long-wear foundations with this because they're just too hard to remove from the bristles. After gently washing it everyday, there hasn't been any shedding so far. As a previous reviewer noted, I dry the brush flat rather than on its end, to avoid the bristles loosening.

Makeup Brushes -Paula's Choice - Precision Liner Brush
rated 5 of 5

I am so happy with this purchase. I use it to apply PC and BB gel liners and have no problem achieving a precision line, something that I failed to do w/ the BB gel liner brush. The bristles are just the correct firmness and not at all scratchy. Good size and shape. Washes well, too.

Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
tloul 6/3/2011 3:37:00 PM

Wow, this is everything that I want in a concealer. Its texture is quite lightweight and easy to apply. After using a mid-weight moisturizer, I tap the concealer wand w/ my concealer brush to control the amount of product to be applied, then apply to undereye using brush and pat in with ring finger. Coverage is excellent, matte, has staying power and best of all does not crease. Lines are not emphasized and a setting powder is not required. Actually looks natural. At times I use the highlighter end which has a sheer, hint-of-shine finish. I'd give this a definite 5 if it were not for the dual-ended concealer/highlighter packaging. Personally, I would prefer to have twice the amount of concealer with no highlighter. I've purchased this several times now and will purchase again and again.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Slate Cream Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5
tloul 2/5/2009 2:08:00 PM

Went to a special event at the BB counter and the visiting MA said "use slate cream over bone powder with black plum ink gel liner" on those green eyes. I'm thinking I hope she knows what she's doing. The result - gorgeous, knockout eyes. The green just popped. Slate cream does not look like Slate powder shadow. On me, Slate cream is more striking and has a blueish gray tint. I thought this is a dramatic, evening look, but the MA's said nope, wear it anytime at all. I bought it all. It's my first cream powder so I had to buy the brush too. When applying, you have to work quickly because after it sets it doesn't budge. It takes a bit of practice to get it even. No creasing, no fading. I want more cream shadows now but I don't think any combination can top this. I'm BB Oil Free Warm Sand, BB Skin Beige, LM Warm Ivory with golden blonde hair. The MA used Calypso Coral Pot Rouge blush and Nude Pink Creamy Lip Color w/ Hot Pink gloss to complete the look. Very sexy combination.

Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Skin Foundation SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
tloul 2/5/2009 1:45:00 PM

This foundation applied like a dream and quickly melded into my skin. The texture is thin and watery and 1-2 small pumps was all that I needed. To be so sheer, the coverage was better than expected. I typically wear LM Sunny Beige and was matched w/ BB Beige. Skin foundation is not oil-free, per an on-line mua. Even after powdering, I looked far too glowy. My face became increasingly greasy throughout the day and so the foundation went back. I know a couple of people w/ dry skin who wear this and it looks great on them, though.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - premier dead sea mask miracle
rated 5 of 5
tloul 7/1/2008 11:14:00 AM

I bought this out of desperation when I was ready to pull my hair out over my skin. I have ultra sensitive skin with mild rosacea that can at times, instantly turn into a burning inferno with rough scaly patches, usually after trying an irritating product, but sometimes without any known trigger point. The Dead Sea Premier Mask Miracle Noir is nothing short of a miracle for me. The product is made from purified minerals and mud from the Dead Sea with liposome and vitamins. The mask itself is grainy and oily. I had to just pat it on so as not to further assault my skin. I left it on for 10 minutes, then wrapped a tissue around a magnetized block included with the packaging and streaked it along my face, which sweep away traces of the mud and iron, but left an oily mineral film. The film, I then massaged into my skin and left on overnight. The next morning my face was absolutely radiant. There were no traces of red, no burning, no scaly patches, no breakouts. Just plump, youthful looking skin – a kitten. I don’t know why this mask gives me such great results but can’t wait to use it once a week. You are supposed to wait 60 hours between uses. I have oily/combo skin, prone to breakouts and the box says for all skin types except acne. It does contain isopropyl myristate, which your pores may not like if you are acne prone. Luckily , this hasn’t been a problem for me. If you buy it in the mall, bargain with the vendor– don’t pay full price. I plan to use one of the sources the other kind reviewers suggested when I need a refill. Good luck with this!

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - One Step Face Cleanser-Normal to Dry Skin
rated 5 of 5
tloul 3/31/2008 2:39:00 PM

My skin is oily/combo, sensitive with mild rosacea and can easily become dehydrated. Even though this cleanser is intended for normal to dry skin, I do believe it is an ideal cleanser for me. I’ve tried Paula’s Skin Balancing Cleanser, which was too drying, and Skin Recovery Cleanser, which was too rich. This formula is a silky, very slightly lathering lotion that leaves my skin feeling soft without irritation, dryness, or any greasy feeling. And did I mention it rinses well? I use a cleansing oil to remove my eye makeup prior to using the cleanser. It works so well for me that I may go so far as to present it with a HG status.

Treatments -Elizabeth Arden - Allergen - Prevage MD Anti-aging Treatment (1% prescription-strength Formulation)
rated 3 of 5
tloul 4/26/2007 4:13:00 PM

My aesthetician advised me to purchase the prescription strength Prevage and I used it for three weeks. I have mild rosacea and my skin is sensitive and very reactive. Anyway, other than the odor, applying the Prevage was lovely – soft and silky. I did not notice any irritation upon application. However, over the course of three weeks my skin became terribly itchy, with large bright red patches and several large red, itchy cysts. My aesthetician kindly gave me or refund, or I should say a credit.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - RevitaLash
rated 4 of 5

This is my seventh week of use. It took about 5 weeks to see a change. My lashes were fairly long to begin with and of very average thickness. Now they are without a doubt, noticeably longer. I'm disappointed that they don't seem any thicker. Definitely some darker. I would cringe to shell out another $150 for this product, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to because once you experience the new length it is hard to give up. Edit: Still absolutely love this. Lashes nearly touch my brow and get stuck on my sunglasses lens,

Moisturizers -Neova - Day Therapy SPF 20
rated 1 of 5
tloul 3/7/2007 11:51:00 AM

Intensely red, burning skin is what I experienced w/ this product. I must have reacted to the Copper Peptides. I regret not being able to use Day Therapy because the texture was absolutely perfect for my oily/combination skin.

Lip Treatments -Fusion Beauty - LipFusion XL 2X Micro-Injected Collagen and HA Lip Plumping Therapy
rated 5 of 5
tloul 1/10/2007 5:43:00 PM

My lips were rather full to begin with but had lost some plumpness and I wanted it back. LF XL delivered its promises after the first application. It was wild to wake up that first morning to a pout. My hairdresser was impressed enough w/ my results to place an immediate order for herself. I use it every night on dry, clean lips, as directed. This totally obliterated my chapped, peeling lips and replaced them with a smooth, pink surface. I love the chic tube, too.

Cleansers -DHC - Cleansing Foam
rated 2 of 5
tloul 12/18/2006 10:02:00 AM

After using a sample of this lavishly foaming cleanser, my face felt exceptionally clean, although a bit stripped. Even though I have primarily oily skin and enjoy feeling squeaky clean, this cleanser would be too drying to use on my sensitive skin on a regular basis. Upon rinsing, to my chagrin my eyelids and the skin around my eyes were swollen and an alarming bright red. Two itchy red hives appeared elsewhere on my face and my face begain to burn a little, so obviously this was a mistake for me. I gave it 2 lippies though because it is concentrated (takes very little product) and I’m partial to a cleanser that foams.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Powder Blush in Pale Pink
rated 4 of 5
tloul 11/30/2006 11:08:00 AM

Simply the prettiest blush to have ever touched my cheeks! A sheer, clear, healthy flush of pink (no brown). I just like to look at it in the pot. Needs another swipe by afternoon. (BB Warm Sand, LM Warm Ivory)
