Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Moonlight Magic
tinydancer73 3/3/2010 7:20:00 PM
I must disagree with the earlier reviewers. I love this fragrance! Though I agree it's nothing at all like the original Moonlight Path. If you're a fan of MP you may be disappointed in this. I've never liked MP much because it was too heavy and floral for me. MM to my nose smells like a somewhat sweet, berry vanilla with a light floral mixed in. Not a fresh berry but more of a "warm" berry. It settles nicely and works great with my chemistry. It also has great staying power. My only complaint is the packaging. Too childish and tacky. If BBW decides to keep this one around (and I hope they do), I'd love to see more sophisticated packaging.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Dial - Yogurt Vanilla Honey Nourishing Body Wash
tinydancer73 11/24/2009 3:47:00 AM
Apparently I'm in the minority but to me this smells horrid! I get a strong chemical smell with an undertone of artificial sweetness. But aside from the scent I agree with the high marks. It's rich, lathers well and doesn't dry you out, and you can't beat the price. It's worth considering if you're on a budget, but be sure to sniff if in store!

Lipstick -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Lipstick Rumi Joon
tinydancer73 11/7/2009 6:42:00 PM
My new HG lipstick for day-to-day use. As others here have said, it's so neutral, it looks like my natural lips after I've been exercising. In other words, I don't look like I'm obviously wearing lipstick, just like I'm healthy and glowing. It lasts a long time for a sheer lipstick, and I don't detect any smell. I agree with whoever said the packaging isn't the greatest, but from what I read it is biodegradable. All in all a great product. I'm very happy with it.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Ginger Vanilla body wash
tinydancer73 10/22/2009 8:48:00 PM
EDIT: Ok, after using this for a couple of weeks it's really grown on me. Bumping it up to a 4. Recently purchased this body wash at half price as BBW clears out its autumn scents. First, I have to say I'm a huge fan of the Ginger Vanilla fragrance -- I also have the lotion, body spray and candle. The body wash doesn't smell the same, however. The spicy ginger is much more pronounced than in the other products, and I smell very little vanilla. To me, it smells like ginger ale. I'm not a huge fan. I don't hate it, and at half price I think it was a worthy purchase, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. I just wanted to alert any fans of the lotion/spray that the body wash smells different!

Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Spiced Apple
tinydancer73 10/19/2009 10:47:00 PM
Well color me shocked. I'm blonde with very fair, cool-toned skin, and red lipsticks are always overpowering for me so I steer clear of them. Like most everyone else here I got this lipstick as a GWP, and was stunned to find I love it on me. It's sheer enough that it looks natural. It just gives my lips a punch of color without being too dramatic. Would definitely consider purchasing when I use it up. Finally, a red I can wear!

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - creme brulee 3-in-1
tinydancer73 10/14/2009 4:34:00 PM
I admit I'm a bit surprised by all the positive reviews. This product has hardly any scent to it! I had to rub it in my hands and hold it up to my nose to smell anything. And what I did smell smelled plasticky and artificial. And let's be honest, without the fragrance, it's just another body wash, and you can pick up body washes for a lot less money at a drug store. I'm normally a fan of Philosophy's 3-in-1's for the great scents. I've owned several. But I'm afraid I can't recommend this one.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Leaves
tinydancer73 10/10/2009 12:34:00 AM
I have mixed feelings about Leaves. The fragrance is nice, very sweet and spicy. It's that familiar smell that stores pipe into the air during the holidays to make shoppers feel cozy and want to linger longer. And therein lies the problem. It smells like holiday room freshener! Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, since I like that smell. I'm just not sure I want to wear it on me, or whether it's better just to burn a candle in that scent. That said, I bought the lotion and body spray and have been wearing them. The fragrance is gentle, which is good for me. I've found as I get older that I can't handle strong scents anymore. They make my throat scratchy. Basically, if you're looking for a gentle, warm, familiar fall/holiday fragrance that makes you feel nostalgic, Leaves is a good choice. Just don't expect anything too original!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Twilight Woods
tinydancer73 10/10/2009 12:08:00 AM
Note: This review is for the lotion. I picked up a $1 preview lotion in Twilight Woods the other day while getting some Leaves scented products. I like the scent, woodsy with a bit of sweetness, but it's too strong for my tastes. It's sweeter at first, but as it dries the sweetness fades and I'm left with an overwhelming perfumey smell. I just put a little dab on my hands an hour ago, and right now I have an itchy throat and a headache! Clearly I won't be buying more of this when the full product line comes out next month. It's too bad, because the smell when I first put it on wasn't too bad. I might even have preferred it to the Leaves, which is a bit too sweet for my taste. But the Leaves is mellow, cozy and doesn't make me feel sick after applying it, and this one does.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Swanson Ultra - Neutral pH Tea Tree Oil Shampoo
tinydancer73 8/30/2009 4:24:00 PM
This shampoo has to be one of the best-kept secrets in hair care. Most of my adult life I've used expensive salon products, and none has been as effective for me as Swanson's Tea Tree Oil shampoo. It's well-balanced, doesn't dry out my hair nor does it weigh it down. It's SLS-free, but lathers well unlike other SLS-free products I've used. The best part is, I've actually had some hair grow back in the year and a half I've been using it. I had developed some balding areas that really worried me. I'd had to strategically comb my hair in order to cover them. Pretty traumatic for a 30-something woman! But since I've used this product, I've noticed they've gone away! The scent isn't anything to get excited about, it's typical tea tree oil smell, though not so bad as some TTO products I've tried (I'm not a fan of TTO's scent). But it goes away after you're out of the shower, so I'm willing to live without perfumey shampoo. This shampoo only costs me $3.99 for a 16 oz. bottle. I wish more people knew about it, because it's really a wonderful, gentle shampoo. I believe you can only order it online. I buy four bottles at a time. I'm well stocked!

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Pumpkin Spice Muffin 3-in-1
tinydancer73 11/23/2008 6:11:00 AM
Heaven in a bottle. I thought the pumpkin pie 3-in-1 smelled nice but I got tired of it quickly. This is far superior, IMO. There are more layers to the scent. I smell the cake, I smell the spices and I smell the pumpkin. I get a whiff of carrot cake at times, but that's fine because I love the smell of carrot cake too! I've been trying to wean myself off of philosophy's 3-in-1s (too pricey and I'm trying to go sulphate-free), but these scents keep bringing me back. I have no doubt I will be stocking up on this scent. One of my absolute favorites.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Eggnog Latte 3-in-1
tinydancer73 11/14/2008 11:49:00 PM
I don't smell much of the "latte" in eggnog latte -- the eggnog scent is overpowering! If you love eggnog, as I do, that's a good thing. This wash is strongly scented and foamy, and it puts me in a holiday mood whenever I use it. I wish the scent of philosophy 3-in-1's lasted on your skin.

Gels/Soaps -Olay - Botanical Fusion Body Wash
tinydancer73 8/17/2008 2:05:00 PM
I picked up the green, Hydrate one about a month ago. It smells OK if you like the scent of patchouli, but it doesn't have the moisturizing qualities I've come to expect from Olay washes. Also, the cap broke off the second time I used it! I got it for a very reasonable price at Target, so I'm happy with what I got for my 3 bucks, but I won't buy again because my skin needs more moisture. Will finish the bottle though. It'll do for a summer body cleanser.

Gels/Soaps -Sephora - Creme Brulee Body Wash
tinydancer73 4/2/2008 5:55:00 AM
YUCK! This stuff stinks. I don't know what it smells like but it's not creme brulee. There's little to recommend this wash. I gave it two lippies because it lathers well and because I was feeling generous. Little in the way of moisturizing properties; in fact, my skin is feeling a bit taut. My quest for a yummy creme brulee body wash continues. Wouldn't buy again.

Gels/Soaps -Sephora - Tangerine Grapefruit Shower Gel
tinydancer73 4/2/2008 5:47:00 AM
Not a bad smell. The grapefruit is more prominent to my nose than the tangerine. I would prefer it to be stronger though. I bought it in the hopes of finding a refreshing spring scent to wake me up in the morning, but I can't even smell this stuff unless I hold it right up to my nose. Nothing special about its cleansing properties. Lathers well. It's good enough to use up the bottle, but I wouldn't buy again. I guess I'll have to keep looking for a good wake-me-up citrus scent.

Cleansers -Desert Essence - Thoroughly Clean Face Wash with Organic Tea Tree Oil and Awapuhi
tinydancer73 4/2/2008 5:42:00 AM
Not a bad cleanser for acne-prone skin, especially for the price. Philosophy's Purity is still my HG, but it's expensive and I was trying to cut back so I picked this up at Trader Joe's. I don't have serious acne problems but I do get the monthly blemishes, and this stuff takes care of them. It's too drying to use twice a day, so I use Cetaphil in the morning and this wash at night to remove my makeup. As long as I alternate with a gentler cleanser my skin is happy. The smell is strong but I got used to it. The consistency takes some getting used to as well. It's watery and wants to run out of your hand. If you have dry skin, steer clear. But it's nice for the occasional breakout, and at this price I'd certainly buy again.
