Shampoo -Redken - Body Full

Saw this on a mega sale and picked up the extra large bottles of shampoo and conditioner. I had high hopes for this brand, and am horribly disappointed. I have long, straight hair that is fine, but I have a lot of it. When using this shampoo and conditioner, my hair seems dull, flat and is terribly tangled. It feels straw like and hard to comb through after a shower, yet seems greasy soon after. I got a great deal on this product, but now I have two huge bottles I'm trying to get through. I'll use this a few times, then a cheapie drugstore brand a few times just to soften it up and bring some life back into my hair! Will not repurchase or recommend!

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
rated 3 of 5

Meh, its okay. I have naturally long, curled lashes, but I still like my mascara to give me super dramatic volume and length. I have been using this mascara for a few months, and it can deliver. You have to work with it though, and be careful because the ridiculously oversized wand makes it very difficult. I think the formulation is good, but the wand is just so cumbersome, it causes clumps and smears. I have minimal smudging, and do like the end result (if I put the effort in), but the giant wand will stop me from repurchasing.

Bronzers -New York Color - Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny 720
rated 5 of 5
tinkerpuppet 1/18/2012 11:16:00 PM

Was looking for a bronzer to give my face a hint of colour through the winter on my NW20 skin. Was all set to head out to Sephora or MAC and spend $$ and checked the reviews here to find some good suggestions to look out for. Instead I found the reviews for this NYC product and figured I had nothing to lose. I'm so happy I gave it a shot! Its exactly what I wanted. I don't really contour, I just give a light sweep over my face/neck. It is sheer and matte, so if you're looking for something more dramatic, you might not like this. Like others mentioned, the packaging is cheap, but so is the price! It does have a nice mirror, and I use the sponge to protect the product inside (I use a big fluffy brush from Ecotools to apply). Will definitely repurchase and have recommended it to many!

Moisturizers -LUSH - Celestial
rated 5 of 5

Love this! I've been using it for about a year. I have terrible dry flakey skin, and making it through a Canadian winter is tough. Finally last year I was tired of the cheap drugstore brand that I'd used for years but just really wasn't cutting it. However I was shocked when I started looking at the prices of higher end creams. Then I found Celestial. At $24CAD it was over three times what I used to pay, but still way less then a lot of other brands. I usually avoid Lush as the smell of the store is too overpowering. But I had heard about this moisturizer, so held my breath and got a sample. Which is my first thing I love about it! I didn't have to invest in a whole pot only to chance me not liking it. I got two samples and loved I could compare them. I knew instantly Celestial was the one for me. I can feel my skin soaking up all the moisturizer. My face has never been so smooth and soft. I love the scent, its very subtle. I don't notice any extra breakouts, and my skin tone has evened out a lot (no more red irritated dry patches). Personally I like the pot. I can get every last bit out of it. I hate having to toss away a tube or pump that I know still has some left but I can't get it out. The packaging is simple and I appreciate that. What a waste some brands make! I did try my old drugstore stuff again this summer to see if it really was worth the extra money. Using the cheap stuff, it all felt so oily/chemically and the smell was horrid. Something I'd used for years and years I couldn't stand anymore. Celestial only for me from now on. Already this winter my skin is still soft, when every year before by this time I'd have red patches and flakes. HG!!!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadow Quad - Skinlights
rated 4 of 5

I am really happy with this product! I can understand why some others aren't big fans, but I think those same reasons are what I like about it. These are very sheer colours. I'm finding them perfect for my minimal makeup look in the summer. I use either the brown or the beige (depending on my mood) on my lids as a sheer all over wash, the lightest colour I use as a highlighter (under the browbone and on top of the cheekbone) and the rosey colour I have actually been using as a cream blush. So in this one palette, I'm getting three different products! I have very dry skin (even in summer) and I don't have much trouble with creasing. Occasionally I might have to give a quick blend with my finger if I notice it, but really it hasn't been an issue at all (I use no primer, just a swipe of light foundation when I'm doing the rest of my face). Also, I find it lasts very well. I usually do my makeup around 8am and take it off twelve hours later at 8pm. There is always trace of the shadow on my makeup remover wipe. The packaging isn't fantastic, one lippie off (not sure why its upside down when you open it? My older one isn't like this), but that's totally reflected in the price. Again, these are very sheer, so if you're looking for more punch, this won't be for you. But I'm loving my summer look this year, and its the only thing I've been using!

Cleansers -Marcelle - Cleansing Milk for Normal to Dry Skin
rated 5 of 5
tinkerpuppet 6/28/2011 1:01:00 AM

I have found my HG cleanser! I have very dry skin, and I'm lazy. So I tend not to stick to a regime often as cleansers dry out my skin and are usually time consuming and messy. This is perfect! I rub it onto my dry skin, massage in, and use a damp warm washcloth to wash it off (which also gently exfoliates at the same time). No splashing water all over the place and my skin actually feels moisturized afterwards. The difference has been amazing (its been over a month). I don't mind the packaging at all. I shake the bottle (it is a lotion and I think might separate a bit) and simply pour a little onto my fingers. My fingers never touch the mouth of the bottle. Totally hygienic and I know I can get all of it! I also love that its easily found in drugstores at a reasonable price. My search is over!

Concealers -MAC - select cover-up
rated 4 of 5
tinkerpuppet 5/29/2011 10:21:00 PM

I love this concealer, but I use it a bit differently. I take a dab of moisturizer, and a dab of this, and make my own tinted moisturizer. I love it! It gives me the sheer coverage I want, the tube lasts forever, and it's a fraction of the price of an actual "tinted moisturizer". Plus I have very dry skin (even in summer), most tinted moisturizers I've tried are still way too light and my skin ends up tight and flakey. This way I can use my own moisturizer that is right for my skin, and adjust the coverage I need that day.

Eyeliner -Annabelle - Smoothliner - Bronze
rated 4 of 5
tinkerpuppet 5/11/2011 10:16:00 PM

This is my go-to liner for everyday. I'm a busy mom and was looking for something simple and quick, but not as harsh as a black liner. This Bronze liner is perfect and really makes my dark green eyes pop. The sparkle is subtle but makes a great difference. I usually wear this on its own with some black mascara and I'm good to go. The only reason I gave it four stars is I find it does wear off during the day. I often do a quick reapply if I'm going out somewhere in the afternoon/evening. However I will still be repurchasing often!
