Powder -Chanel - Double Perfection Compact Teint Poudre Mat Eclat [DISCONTINUED]

HG foundation! I've always disliked liquid foundations (messy, time consuming, makes me feel like I've painted my face) so powder foundation appeals to me immensely. This is a gorgeous product (in equally gorgeous Chanel packaging) that can be sheer or thicker, depending on how heavily it's applied. A word of caution: immediately after applying, it may look too "powdery" but give it 5 or 10 minutes and the texture disappears into the skin and just leaves a smooth, non powdery, effect. I have it in Soft Beige/Subtil 1.2 (NW20 in MAC) and though it's pricey ($47.50 US) I can't bring myself to knock it down a lippie - it is a divine splurge.

Lip Gloss -C.O. Bigelow - Mentha Lip Tint 1136 Nude
rated 4 of 5

This seems to be the first lip balm/gloss that I find myself carrying around in my pocket all the time; I love the green tube and I adore the texture of the balm. The color is a perfect pink for my not-so-pigmented lips, and I find it lasts longer than most other balms. My biggest problem with this product (and why I knocked off one lippie) is that the product tends to gunk up around the top of the applicator, and I have to wipe it down pretty frequently. Other than that, it's very much worth the $5 I paid for it at BBW.

Blush -NARS - Creme Blush in Cactus Flower
rated 5 of 5

Every good thing you've heard about this product is true! It's one of my 2 favorite blushes (the other being NARS Mata Hari) and I'm NW20, LLL, light brown hair, hazel eyes. I had my doubts about creme blush because 1. My skin tends to break out easily, and I thought creme blush would encourage it, and 2. My skin gets pretty oily, and creme blush might not stay too long. Cactus Flower has neither of these reactions on my skin. To apply, I use my pointer or middle finger to pick up a little blush, then lightly tap it onto my cheeks. Thank goodness it blends so easily into my skin; otherwise, it'd look like measles. The product stays for hours, and the best part is that the color looks natural, like it comes from under my skin instead of sitting right on top of it. I think that's the reason I love this pretty pink creme blush so much. Oh, and don't be scared by the color in the pan - it's a gorgeous flush on the skin. Seriously, if you're considering Cactus Flower, you need to try it!

Eye Shadow -Flirt - Dreamy Eyes Eyeshadow in Golden Lady
rated 5 of 5

This is a beautiful deep golden/bronze eyeshadow; my perfect bronze 'neutral' in that it's subtle like a neutral, yet bronze enough to make the green in my hazel eyes pop. The texture is what really hooked me when I tested the product in the store - it's a beautiful silky texture with great pigment. I pair this up with Honey Lemonade as a highlighter and it gives a great look. While I love the color, the Flirt! packaging is pretty bad, so I'd be interested in figuring a way to depot and palette these e/s. (If anyone has any ideas, please pm me!)

I love this eyeliner! I have oily eyelids, and this stuff lasts all day on me. I have it in suede and granite, and though I use both, granite is my go-to eyeliner when in a rush. (It's a really nice dark gray that looks great on my cool PPP skin). And with the cheap d/s price, this can't be beat!

Eye Shadow -Flirt - Dreamy Eyes eyeshadow in Honey Lemonade

I'm so excited I found this color! It's a frosty white-goldish color that works perfectly as a browbone highlighter. In my mind, it's like MAC Vanilla pigment without the mess (though I still love my vanilla pigment!) Definitely would repurchase, $10. for the eyeshadow. The only downside is, like other posters mentioned, the packaging isn't so hot. (minus 1 lippie)

Blush -NARS - Mata Hari

Another winning blush from NARS! I'm NW20 LLL with very cool toned skin, and this is the perfect flush! The bright pink color in the pan made me a bit apprehensive at first, but believe me, don't judge a blush by it's pan! :-P

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection
rated 2 of 5
tina9479 10/20/2005 8:44:00 PM

I wanted to love this product as much as everyone else does - right now my HG mascara is Lancome Hypnose, and the prospect of paying $7.00 every 4 months instead of $22.00 is quite appealing. The first few days I used Lash Perfection were glorious - beautiful, thick, long lashes with amazing curl. Then, I started noticing the flaking. I've never used mascara before that made my eyes look like I sprinkled black glitter all over them. Needless to say, it's not the look I'm going for. Tonight, I decided to give Lash Perfection one final try, and after 4 hours of wear, I'm covered in flakes. I guess I'm sticking with my Hypnose for now. (shrug)

Treatments -Neutrogena - Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5

I've only used this product twice (the second time being right now as I'm typing) and while I'd usually wait to see long-term results, I feel the need to review. The smell of this peel is absolutely horrendous. Imagine taking a shower, dropping your towel in the wet bathtub, leaving for vacation, then coming back 2 weeks later and smelling the towel (This is the best analogy I can come up with - you get the point, awful smell.) I wouldn't reject a product just because of the 10 minute odor, but just want to warn anyone considering buying this product.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Waterproof
rated 4 of 5
tina9479 8/18/2005 6:47:00 PM

I feel bad paying so much for a tube of mascara that will go bad in a matter of months. However, I'm getting married in a few months and have been doing some makeup research to do my own makeup on the wedding day. "I'll use it for the wedding" has been my big excuse for purchasing otherwise too-expensive makeup, and although I've bought some bombs, this is not one of them. To put it simply, it is excellent. It does not flake or clump on my lashes, and I have not had a single raccoon eye. A co-worker even asked me what mascara I was using - she thought perhaps I'd put on fake lashes. It's really that good. I took off one lippie because it is expensive, but if you can spare the money (or have a special occasion to use as an excuse) then pick this up.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Deckchair Pigment
rated 4 of 5
tina9479 8/18/2005 6:31:00 PM

Beautiful color, great quality. It's a pink/peach but very shimmery - I like to use it in combination with Coco pigment for a pretty and natural eye. I took off one lippie only because the pink color doesn't seem to show as well on my skin as it looks in the jar. Would definitely buy again.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Color Juice - Taheati
rated 5 of 5

My favorite Color Juice! It's a pretty coral-peach color, but looks very natural on my lips. Lasts long too! It can be hard to find - I found mine at Target for under 5 dollars. I liked the color so much, I went back and got a 2nd tube right away!
