Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Powder

After being on the fence about this powder, I recalled someone posting on here how they used it UNDER makeup, almost like a primer. I tried that this morning and was blown away. I have struggled with trying to find a foundation that would cover my scars and rosacea without looking caked-on. The use of this powder prior to foundation just gave my skin a smoother surface to start from (I've tried using actual primers, they do nothing but break me out). I tried stippling it onto bare skin and then buffing in, THEN applying liquid foundation with a foundation brush. Voila! My foundation looked awesome right out of the gate, and I knew I was on to something. I also normally have to blot and then reset my makeup around mid-morning. However, I went to check on it and I still looked fresh. And my face feels softer and pores aren't so prominent. Definitely not having to retouch with powder so much throughout the day in my ever-oily T-zone either. Using it in this way, I'm not so on the fence anymore with this product. Update (6/5/11)...This powder is really making my skin "look" dry and powdery and I have oily skin! Really weird. Not sure what the deal is, but back on to the search to find the HG. I think you have to pretty much have perfect skin to use this, else it can emphasize imperfections (i.e. acne) and make you look older. Definitely used a light hand and it feels nice enough on. I just didn't like how it looked on skin.

Conditioner -Suave - Keratin Infusion Color Care Conditioner

Love love love. Use this along with the shampoo and my hair (which has lately been aggravatingly dry, lifeless and flat) now has bounce once again. It rinses out very well. I could easily run a comb through my wet hair after the shower, it just slipped right through! My hair is naturally wavy and no, this conditioner didn't make it straight and flat (even if it did, I doubt my hair would stay that way for long, such is my hair). It did make it soft and smooth and look very healthy the whole day through. It didn't feel like it was coated with anything, just soft and clean hair. I wasn't having to fight with it all day long to "get it to look right", which is my book is HUGE. Have used it three days in a row now and haven't been disappointed yet. It does have a fragrance to it but I don't mind it. To be honest, I don't even smell it after my hair is dry. My hair is once again bouncy and soft, so will definitely look to purchase again if this keeps up!

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Keratin Infusion Color Care Shampoo

This shampoo from Pantene rocks! Shampoos and conditioners just haven't been clicking with me lately. They would typically leave my hair dry (and I have oily hair so this is hard to do), frizzy, lifeless and hard to manage. I gave this a shot out of desperation, and to be honest, Suave isn't a brand I typically buy. Although it doesn't make my naturally wavy hair straight, it DOES make it smooth and soft (without being limp). My hair has more body to it and I'm not having to fuss with it all day to get it to look right. It just makes it look and feel more healthy and that's enough for me. I also use the conditioner as well. You can tell even in the shower that your hair feels different, i.e. better. I'm not wild about the sulfates in it, but at least it has the least harsh of the two ALSs in it. So far, a definite winner in my book. My hair hasn't looked this good in a while.

Liquid -Stila - Perfect & Correct Foundation

Being 40 now (boooo!), I have had plenty of opportunity/time to try various foundations. I have NEVER found one that I really really like. The color has either been off or turned orange, been too heavy and thick, or the foundation has settled into my pores, or turned into an oil slick an hour into wearing it. After reading the reviews here, I was curious to try this one out. Trying different shades of this on in the store to see which color suited me best, I noticed that it covered up some redness/rosacea I had on my chin extremely well without looking heavy or cakey and the "light" color was spot on for me. It looked completely natural, only better! That was enough for me, I purchased it right then and there, no further sampling needed. The price is high, but after searching so long for a HG foundation, I was willing to pay if it worked for me. After applying it at home with a foundation brush the next morning, I am happy to report this may be perfection. Pores are substantially diminished, the foundation looks 'finished' even without applying powder, the color is a perfect match, it's not settling into my pores and disappearing and my face isn't turning into a puddle of oil. It's not heavy, doesn't look like a mask but yet somehow still provides amazing coverage. This foundation makes my skin look perfect, even with large pores, rosacea and a blemish here and there, and I've NEVER had that in a foundation before. Ever. I will need to wear it for a week or so to see if it truly lives up to the 5-star I've given it, but so far, I think it will. I can't stop looking at my face in the mirror, I almost don't believe it. So thankful I found this foundation to give it a try. Will report back after I've worn it for a while, but so far, REALLY good!!!!!!! Update (7/27/11) Used almost half this foundation and I have to update my review. I'm really not sold much anymore. Turns out it more like a tinted moisturizer than foundation, on me at least, meaning it seems to just sink in my skin and disappear. At least it doesn't look too cakey for that reason, but it didn't too much for my rosacea or the few blemish scars I had here and there. It feels nice and light enough, just doesn't do much as the day wears on I'm noticing. Not for the price. Back to the drawing board as far as foundations go.

Styling Products -Aussie - Aussome Volume Spray Gel

First time I tried this was a year or so ago,and I wasn't bowled over by this product. On vacation recently, I needed something to replace the root lifter I was using but not liking, so picked this up again on a whim. Am I ever glad I did. Not sure if it's been reformulated, but it rocks now. Doesn't cause build-up on my hair (root lifter I was using before did in a big way), makes my hair nicely full but never 'crunchy' or 'stiff'. I use a nice boar bristle round brush while drying my hair and actually have not had a bad hair day since using. I received a compliment the other day that it looked like I'd just come from a salon. Am very pleased with this now so will definitely repurchase.

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime GLOW
tigger2438 5/13/2008 3:37:00 PM
Bought this because it was BOGO at CVS. Actually works pretty well for me. I've had issues of streaking and turning unnaturally orange with other self-tanners, but this particular one in Fair works well for me. No streaks and it blends nicely. There is a bit of faint soft shimmer to it, but I believe that actually helps to give my skin a nice healthy look to it. For me, it's nothing really obvious and I've grown to kinda like it. The smell is not overpowering, but as typical of all self-tanners, there is a bit of an odor. It does not mask any other fragrance I put on afterwards, so no complaints really. The moisturizing side of it works well too. My legs/arms haven't had that dry feel to them since I've started using it. Will definitely repurchase again.
