Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Aquafina Hydrating Lip Balm
thriftesfai 11/4/2010 11:09:00 PM
This just may be my HG lip balm. I bought mine at Dollarama for $1, and it came with two in a pack. I love the size, it's perfect for my lips. But most of all it is SOOO moisturizing. I have tried countless lip balms, nothing compares to this gem that was only a dollar. I have very chapped lips, all the time, and this soothes and keeps them soft with any gross film. I'm not a huge fan of menthol, but I can tolerate it because this works so well. Def repurchase....I must stock up on these...
Highlighters -Fyrinnae - Mineral Highlighter in Center Stage

I LOVE this. This gives me a healthy glow without any shimmer or glitter. Brightens up my skin, and even if I'm going through a bad day with breakouts, etc, this instantly takes away from all that and makes me look much better. Finely milled, no chunkiness going on, and easy to apply. And excellent value for money! I puchased the mini or sample size, so I'm going to purchase a full size next.
This is a very good concealer, considering you find your shade. I have very dark, hereditary circles that are difficult to cover. It covers amazingly (lol) even without my usual Bobbi Brown corrector underneath. Very opaque, creamy, easy to blend and has great lasting power. I got a great match in the colour Deep Golden. The key to getting it to look good is MOISTURIZE your eye area well and then use a patting motion when applying it. If you're using it for your face, a little goes a long way so don't cake it on or it'll be obvious. I like the tube packaging, despite the fact that it can get a bit messy, I can get every last bit out by squeezing/cutting it open. I took one lippie off due to the price. But overall, it's a great concealer, has the ability to really perk me up and make me look awake.
As of now, this is my HG scrub. I live in Canada and I've heard of people say that it's difficult to find their products, but I get mine at a Black hair care discount store down the street for about $5. Maybe anyone having difficulty would like to try there. I have dry skin, as well as eczema that causes my skin to be pretty sensitive. I base my skin care routine on products that clean, moisturize, don't break me out (acne-prone) and are gentle/non irritating. This is amazing for me. I use it about twice a week to get rid of flakes, and it works perfectly. The smell may not be the truest cocoa butter scent I've ever sniffed, but that doesn't bother me. It's gentle, doesn't sting or hurt when I exfloliate and gets the job done. Best of all it leaves my skin feeling clean without stripping it of moisture. Huge amount for the price, totally worth it. It's a must in my skin care routine. I've repurchased once, and I'll do it again.
Conditioner -Suave - Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner
thriftesfai 8/22/2010 11:02:00 AM
Perfect for COing. Silicone free, pleasant but not harsh scent (another reviewer pinned it down best, fruity with a hint of coconut), rinses out clean and leaves no buildup on my hair. The formula is thicker than let's say an Alberto VO5 conditioner (also good for COing though) but this is a tad more mosturizing for my hair. Awesome buy at $2, will repurchase!
Makeup Brushes -Sigma - F80 Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki (was SS197)
thriftesfai 8/20/2010 1:37:00 PM
I live in Canada, ordered the brush from the site and got it a little less than two weeks later. Came in a little draw string bag, a plastic brush guard, and a few informational pamphlets. Upon receiving the brush, the handle felt sturdy and comfortable in my hand, and the brush itself is densely packed, very soft and is synthetic. I washed it before my first use, and it shed about two hairs. This may not happen to everyone though, and after all two hairs isn't that bad at all. This was the first and last time it shed after washing. Drying time took a day (it was completely dry the next day), despite how dense it is, which is odd. I don't know why LOL, maybe I'm lucky. I used my Revlon Colorstay foundation, poured a bit onto the back of my hand and dabbed the brush in the foundation and started to gently dabbing it onto my face. I also spray my face, the foundation on my hand and the brush with some water prior to application, that's just my method, it helps for a smoother application on my dry skin. After I applied foundation where I need it, I starting gently buffing it into my skin. Oh boy. I looked airbrushed. It required no pressure, all I had to do was work in circular movements making sure the brush had contact with my skin. Basically, the brush did all the work. It's soft, so application wasn't unpleasant in any way. The overall end result was smooth foundation on my face, a second skin. I've used this brush many times after with the same result. I highly recommend this brush, it's affordable and excellent quality. The one I got anyway. Give it a try!
This mascara wasn't good but it wasn't bad either. I personally hate the primer. Firstly, I actually have never needed a primer (this mascara confirmed that for me) and secondly it was so difficult to cover the white primer with the black mascara no matter what I did. I will say this though, I already have long lashes, but this stuff made them sky high. Not perfect, I won't go back to it, but it did perform well enough.
Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Canus-Goat's Milk Rich Moisturizing Soap
thriftesfai 6/12/2010 4:15:00 PM
Left my skin soft and didn't flare up my eczema and cleans very well. No sickly scent, would repurchase.
I like this, it does work and keeps my lips soft. I just dislike the smell, it can be waxy. Other than that, it's cheap and cheerful, so why not?
Beautiful deep, wine red. It can be a little drying, but moisturizing your lips beforehand can stop that. It applies smoothly and evenly. It's not my fanstasy red, but it's more of a sultry one that's great for nighttime.
This left my hair too hard and stiff. I could barely move my hair. Even the littlest bit lft it this way. It flaked a bit in my hair too. I wouldn't repurchase.
Shampoo -Joico - K-Pak Reconstruct Shampoo for Dry or Damaged Hair
thriftesfai 6/12/2010 4:03:00 PM
I love this, it helps to counteract the damage I subject my hair to on a daily basis LOL. I blowdry my hair straight and quickly go over it with a flat iron. This products helps keep my hair strong, softer and in better condition despite what I do to it. Will repurchase!
I'm not sure if this did anything as far as nail growth to be honest. My nails grow fast regardless so maybe that's why. But it did help the condition of my nails overall, made them stronger and stopped them from breaking, chipping and peeling.
Polishes -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dry Fast Dry Nail Color
thriftesfai 6/12/2010 3:53:00 PM
I really like the choice of nude colours they have, but the consistency isn't to my liking. It does dry fast, but a little too fast.
Polishes -Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color
thriftesfai 6/12/2010 3:52:00 PM
The colour selection is amazing, as well as the lasting power. It doesn't get thick too quickly and is smooth as easy to apply without getting all streaky. The brush isn't too big or small or awkwardly shaped. I LOVE it.
