Misc Beauty Tools -E.L.F. - Mechanical Eyelash Curler

I haven't had any problems out of this tool! The only issue is that I have a hard time getting to my outer lashes, but with some maneuvering I can manage it. It was a dollar, and it curls my lashes: SOLD!
Wow. This was only one dollar. And it WORKS. I have never tried an eye primer before so I decided to buy something cheap. I have nothing else to compare this to, but I can definitely tell a difference in how long my eyeshadow/liner lasts. It even saves me more money since I don't have to reapply my eye makeup. THANK YOU MUA!!
Oh no! This really jacked up my face. :( It did sting a bit, but I was expecting that. I used a very weak concentration 2 days in a row as a toner. Then I rinsed it off after about 5-10 minutes. It did seem to shrink my active acne down a little bit, but by day 3 I could already see this taking its toll: large puss filled acne along my jaw! I even developed a large one on my neck where some had run down my face. I'm still breaking out in tiny white heads all over my face a few days later. I'm glad this works for so many, but this is yet another natural remedy that I can't tolerate. Too bad, since it's so cheap!
Cleansers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser (Normal to Oily Skin)

This gave me the pleasure of having my first cystic cheek acne! I tried this last year and forgot to review it, probably because I want to forget I ever used it. I was just starting to figure out what worked for my skin and I picked this up since everyone I know said how basic and gentle it is. I used it for about a month. At first it seemed to be doing okay; it did leave a film and I think my blackheads actually got worse. Then the cystic acne showed up. It was really bad and it even did the same thing to my husband at exactly the same time! Previously I never had a zit on my cheeks. I am still dealing with the hyperpigmentation marks 9 months later.
Yuck! This broke me out terribly. I got this in the oily formula. The color match was pretty close but it had a bit too much pink in it. I liked the coverage, but it smelled terrible and I could feel it sitting on my face. It also itched like crazy! This made my nose really oily, which I never have problems with. It was hard to wash this off my skin. I literally had 4 little whiteheads develop from this before I even got if off (I think I wore it about 4 hours). Needless to say I will not repurchase!
Moisturizers -Trader Joe's - Nourish Oil-Free Antioxidant Facial Moisturizer

I was looking for an everyday moisturizer that was spf and oil free. I am in love with the Nourish cleanser so I picked this up for cheap at Trader Joe's. This stuff is non-greasy and it didn't make me itch! I am pretty pale so I didn't really notice a white cast. Unfortunately this is very clogging for me. Within 2 uses I had those clogged flesh colored bumps along my jawline and nose, and though it didn't itch, I was getting those small red irritation spots on my cheeks. I have been able to use this around my eyes with no problems or milia so I will use it up for that. Oh and I love the pump!! I am very clog prone so I don't think it's fair for me to give this a bad rating when it's something I figured my skin type couldn't handle, so I gave it 3 lippies based on what it is. It's a non-greasy, spf and oil free moisturizer with some good ingredients at a great price. If you typically use creamy moisturizers with no problems I would recommend you pick this up and give it a shot. Just watch out if you are clog prone; personally I don't think I can handle anything creamy and will try gel moisturizers next.
Conditioner -Trader Joe's - Balanced Moisturizing Nourish Spa Conditioner

Used together with the (drying) shampoo this is not moisturizing enough to keep my hair from frizzing up. However used on its own it's a pretty average conditioner. It seems I am slightly allergic to something in this though, just like the shampoo, and it can make me itchy. I will use it up but not repurchase.
Shampoo -Trader Joe's - Balanced Moisturizing Nourish Spa Shampoo

I'm on the fence about this shampoo. It leaves my hair squeaky clean with no flakies or dandruff in sight. However it makes my hair a dry frizzy mess too, even with deep conditioning, which I wasn't expecting from something with "Moisturizing" in the name. I also must be slightly allergic to something in this (probably one of the many oils) because it can itch sometimes. I will use this up slowly as a clarifying shampoo but will not repurchase.
Cleansers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser

This smelled funny, itched, clogged, and caused an explosion of zits. Need I say more?
Cleansers -Trader Joe's - Tea tree oil facial cleansing wipes

Holy crap these were super drying and irritating! I really should have known better, what with all the alcohol. I got a big zit or two afterwards (now I know I can't use witch hazel though). My husband seems to like using these. When he uses them, I can smell him a mile away, LOL! ;)
You know, I usually hate mango scents, but this smells like a creamsicle to me, LOL. This stuff is a great value, and leaves my legs a lot smoother than with irritating shave creams. The only thing about this I don't like is that it is a little thin, and if I'm not super careful it will easily drip out of the container and make a mess. I do like this and plan to repurchase the next time I'm near a TJ (they're an hour away). The smell is addicting... I even caught my husband using this to shave his face! ;)
I think my husband thinks I have not been bathing properly, because this soap lasts forever! It never got mushy either. It rinses clean and is not drying. I was not expecting such a spicy smell, which I usually am not a fan of, but I LOVE the way this smells! Unfortunately this clogs me up on my chest and gives me lots of bumps; I think all bar soap does this to me though so I won't dock a lippie for it. This is super cheap too!
Other -Trader Joe's - Antiplaque Toothpaste with Fennel, Propolis & Myrrh
theparsley 4/20/2012 12:40:00 AM
I must admit I did not like this the first time I used it. Once I got used to the taste however, I love it! It's cheap and SLS/fluoride free. Originally I switched to see if SLS/fluoride had anything to do with the acne around my mouth (alas it did not), but I haven't had one mouth sore for months after using this! I was surprised by how much this foams. My mouth is definitely clean. I must caution however that there is no whitening effect with this toothpaste. I noticed my teeth had dulled a little after using this for a few weeks. I make sure to do a weekly peroxide rinse and that seems to have taken care of it.
Cleansers -Trader Joe's - Nourish All in One Facial Cleanser

HG. This is the first cleanser I've found that does not break me out! I have sensitive, combo, acne/clog prone skin. I've had a hard time finding something that will not dry me out, break me out, irritate, or clog me. I have been using this cleanser for 3 months, and it has not caused me any of those problems. It doesn't make me itch or irritated and it removes my very basic MU. It only dries me out a little if I consistently use it twice a day; I usually just rinse with water in the am. I only use half a pump for my whole face. I think it could become drying if you use more than you need to or if you already have dry skin. I haven't noticed any evening of my skin tone like some others. I also don't think this has necessarily prevented acne or done any miracles for me, but it's a great basic cleanser (which was exactly what I was looking for). Plus it's CHEAP. Why not give it a shot? It if doesn't work, you're out $6. If it works for you... you've found a cleanser for only $6!!! The nearest TJ is an hour away from me, but next time I go, I will be stocking up on this cleanser! :) Oh, and they are apparently expanding the line to include a moisturizer. I'm going to keep an eye out for that! EDIT (8/16/12): Guys, I ran out of this cleanser and could tell how well it had been working for me! My face was a lot more red without using this and my acne took a lot longer to heal. So even more props to this cleanser; I will never be without it again!! :)
Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - Peppermint Castille Soap

This lathers awesomely! It smells great and tingles. It did give me body acne however (even on my arms and legs). Now I know it was the olive oil. Otherwise a great buy.
