Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Moisture
rated 5 of 5

I like this product a lot. I don't have any wrinkles but I guess at 25 I do have fine lines hanging around that I pretend don't exist. Anyway, I got this as gratis through my job and really liked it. A lot of the products I have recieved over the years I had no interest in purchasing on my own. They either felt too rich, or gave me clogged pores. I actually felt like this gave me just the right amount of moisture and I guess has an anti-wrinkle benefit as well. I can't tell you if this actually has some magical wrinkle reverse affect but I can say it does not break me out and I really enjoyed the texture. Products like Olay regenerist, proX, and that Garnier serum + moisturizer felt gross and left my forehead very clogged up.

Polishes -Nailene - Sensationail Gel Polish - Raspberry Wine
rated 5 of 5
themisanthrope 4/13/2013 10:40:00 PM

I really like this color - in fact I have a backup. I acquired this initially through the starter kit and I get compliments every single time I wear this color. It never gets old! It wears well, goes up to two weeks without chips and sometimes I wear it for three weeks despite the growth showing on my nail. I guess this is more for someone with very cool skin - it's a wine sort of color, a bit on the pink side and it has flecks of the same color in it.. Overall a nice color and takes two coats to look opaque. I have no complaints.

Eyeliner -Eyeko - Skinny Liquid Eyeliner - Black
rated 2 of 5
themisanthrope 12/21/2012 10:10:00 PM

I wanted to like this because something about this brand is attractive to me. I guess I'm a sucker for marketing. Anyway, I've had this pen for a short while - probably three weeks tops and already it seems dry. Actually, it was dry on my very first use. This seems to be a trend across liquid eyeliner pens vs. the kind you dip into the pot(Revlon liquid Colorstay) since I have the same problem with Cover Girl 24 hr liquid liner. The felt tip is nice, but seems to emphasize the little wrinklies when I try to line my upper lid (I'm only 25 wtf) and I end up with a less than perfect line. I would like to do winged liner, but I feel that this pen is just too dry to do anything that requires slower handwork. I've tried it before and the wing just looked crusty and day old. It's also made in China which is a big MEH for me.

Treatments -Shea Moisture - Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque
rated 5 of 5
themisanthrope 9/2/2011 10:43:00 AM

I originally purchased this when it was BOGOF at Walgreens, and it is now BOGO50% plus 20% off code so I stocked up on this and other various products from this brand. Sometimes I use this as a deep treatment masque, but daily I use this as a styler to defrizz my hair. I use this generously on the ends of my hair and where ever it may be frizzy.. usually a little past my hair line where I have these random cowlicks that won't grow out. I think this stuff is great. It leaves my hair very soft... If you use too much, it will leave your hair looking oily because it is so rich. This is a trial and error product until you can figure out the right amount for your hair. EDIT 12/21/12 - I'm still using this, probably on my 5th tub of it. I use it to flat iron my hair, sleek back buns, braids, dip my split ends in it.. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

Treatments -John Frieda - Full Repair Perfect Ends Sheer Mist
rated 3 of 5
themisanthrope 6/25/2011 8:10:00 PM

I use this before flat ironing. It seems to protect my hair, but too much of this can leave my hair feeling oily/dirty. Quite annoying since flat ironing is a lot of time and effort and I try to go three days without washing. I had to use so much dry shampoo to get the feeling out. When used in limited amounts, I suppose this product does its job. My ends did feel very silky to the touch. I wouldn't repurchase because I am sure there are better products out there for a more reasonable price.

Top/Base Coats -Nailtek - Foundation II - Ridge-filling
rated 1 of 5
themisanthrope 11/14/2010 1:05:00 AM

I bought this because Nailtiques II has been a bit hard to find in my area lately... and this is cheaper. With Nailtiques, my nails were long, thick and strong. I switched to this hoping I could maintain the nails I manged to grow. After about a month, all of my nails began to break... now they are peeling and back to the original state before I ever tried Nailtiques. I'm actually pretty depressed about it because this doesn't even function as a good basecoat for me. My nail polish chips after day 1. I don't know why this stuff wont work for me... I haven't even bothered finishing my bottle which is more than half full. All of my nails broke and I am discouraged and completely stopped painting my nails. I have to start all over again...

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Renpure Organics Moisturizing Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
themisanthrope 11/10/2010 8:36:00 PM

I have been using this for a few months and I will not repurchase. I bought it because I was curious and ran out of my regular sulfate free shampoo. I use both this and the matching conditioner. 1.This is not moisturizing at all, in fact my hair feels kind of dry after using it. 2. After a few weeks of using it, my scalp began to feel dirty and no matter how many times I wash with this, or use my nails to scrub my scalp - I still feel oily and dirty. Even my hair feels oily when I run my palm across my head. I notice my hair doesn't even smell washed. My hair smells like unwashed oily grossness. I even began to get a few clogged hair follicles aka pimples on my damn scalp! This shampoo smells good, but that is about all. I can't wait for this bottle to be done with so I can find something better. I paid like 5 dollars for this nonsense. If it works for you, that is great.. but it certainly doesn't work for me.

Lip Treatments -Too Faced - Lip Insurance
rated 4 of 5
themisanthrope 5/25/2010 6:32:00 PM

Overall, this stuff is fantastic! I purchased this expecting it to be a return. I've tried so many products that claim to be lip primers that are used before lipstick/liner. None of them worked. I've usually stuck to she laq/dupes or drugstore long wear lipsticks for when I need all day wear without touch ups. This stuff claims to keep your lipstick on while serving as a moisturizer. I will say - this does live up to both claims. My lips are significantly less flaked/cracked than usual. The package claims this is a nude cream that you apply - actually it is white to clear. White on the doe foot applicator, clear on your lips. I do think enough comes out that you do not need to double dip. One coat is enough for my upper and lower lips. I put this on, and then my lip liner. You need to be very careful because if you make a mistake, you wont be getting this off - a lot like long wear lipsticks. Ive used this with Revlon matte and my lips felt a little caked - but I expected that since the mattes are drying. I've tried it with Mayb. Color Sensational, and it works, but for some reason it becomes a little cakey/clumpy feeling on the lips. This stuff has felt perfect with my Vincent Longo fore plush lippy. VL is very creamy and this reduced it to the perfect texture where I pretty much forgot I had lipstick or treatment on. I've eaten through stuffed peppers and rice, pasta, etc and I didn't need to touch up. I love this stuff because it wont peel off like long wear lipsticks/she laq(if you've worn colorstay or another type you know what I mean!!) My one con (hence not 5 stars) is that this will break down a bit with oily foods such as pizza or a really buttered bagel... but, that is expected since you do need an oil based waterproof makeup remover to get the product off. Depending on how you chew, the lipstick is salvageable, since I've only noticed running/feathering with oily foods at the corners of my mouth. I am also concerned with the package - it poses the same issue as UDPP. I'll have to cut this open eventually.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lumene - Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips
rated 5 of 5
themisanthrope 4/1/2010 1:33:00 AM

This stuff is really great, and I got mine from CVS for 6.89 although it is 6 dollars at Sears - this was my first time trying so I picked CVS since Sears has a no return policy on open makeup. Anyway, I like the bottle. It is blue and pretty and does not leak. The hole is also small so not too much product gets out - this is great for clumsy people. I've spilled my clinique many times, losing at least half of the bottle to the sink - and that stuff is expensive!!!!! I do believe this product works just as well, if not better than Clinique's waterproof remover. It feels.. almost the same - in fact if someone filled up a clinique bottle with some Lumene, I wouldn't notice the difference. And I wear a full blown smokey eye every day..

Treatments (Eye) -DERMAdoctor - Wrinkle Revenge Eye
rated 3 of 5
themisanthrope 3/29/2010 9:25:00 AM

I got this as a .5 oz sample from Sephora. I've been using this every night since um.. November? I don't have any wrinkles, nor have I seen any new ones (But I have crepey lids). This is very moisturizing, however, it does nothing for the loose crepe 30 year old eyelids on my 22 year old face :(. I would continue to use it for moisturizer, but it's too expensive JUST to moisturize. This may work for wrinkles, but not for crepeyness, which I feel are wrinkles :( Oh well. Onto more potions.

Eyeliner -Hard Candy - Walk the Line - Night Sky
rated 2 of 5
themisanthrope 3/16/2010 7:53:00 AM

I bought this on impulse because the color is pretty. That's it. I want to return this. It is sheer and only shows up on darker shadows after lots of layering, invisible on any light eyeshadow. It also burns if it runs into the eyes, the glitter feels as if it is cutting right into the white of my eye. When I first tried this, the liner itched when it was wet, then I guess I forgot about it. This stuff takes forever to dry - today it took over an hour. I applied it at 6:30, when I touched it at 8:00 it was still moist/tacky. My eyes spent the next hour itching like mad, as if the glitter was digging into my skin. I finally went to the bathroom to scrape this stuff off. Very disappointed because it looked pretty in the tube.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The ColossalDiamonds
rated 2 of 5
themisanthrope 3/15/2010 10:50:00 PM

This is supposed to be an LE mascara by Maybelline. It is supposed to be infused with glitter to make it appear.. diamond like on your lashes? Well, there is glitter - one can see it on the brush; however, it disappears on your lashes. I should have known it was going to be a failure because most glittery mascaras fail. The glitter is overpowered by the dark base. It also allows for clumping because the glitter isn't super fine. Perhaps this idea would have worked if it were a mass of super fine milled glitter in a gel as opposed to thicker glitter in a black base. I'm on the fence about returning this - I kept my receipt because I had a 'feeling' about this product, but it does serve okay as a plain black mascara, but that is not what I purchased it for. I paid a little less because I had a coupon plus my employee discount, but I don't think it was worth it. I already have a regular Maybelline colossal in glam black in my back ups - so I don't need this, and neither do you if you're looking for something that has depth or shimmer.

Concealers -NARS - Custard
rated 3 of 5
themisanthrope 1/18/2010 4:04:00 PM

I purchased this as part of the Custard/Ginger duo sweet steal for 10 dollars, hence my price point of 1. Anyway, I am nw5 and my secret to undereye circle concealment is to use something darker/yellowish so I don't look like a deer in headlights. Anyway - Custard was a perfect match and I wore it on NYE and the day after, actually. My problem is the texture. It is thick and waxy. I had to dig into the pot many times to get a good amount of product, and then really press it into my under eye circles. This product might be better for concealing freckles or pimples, but alas it is too dark for an NW5 to go anywhere but under the eyes. I returned it because the texture involves too much work. You have to warm it up with your finger to give it more slip.

Mascara -Dejavu (Imju) - Fiberwig Lash Knockout
rated 4 of 5
themisanthrope 1/18/2010 3:54:00 PM

I've used other tubing mascaras, and this seems to be the best so far. L'oreal made my lashes too fat with no length, Too Faced smells like crazy glue etc. This is not only a tubing mascara, but a mascara with FIBER! I know some people have complained that the fiber is uneven and you end up with un even lashes - but that is dependent upon how many coats you use, and if your brush is gunky or not. You can see the fibers stand up on the tips of your lashes as you apply, so you decide if you want to keep the length by adding another coat, or removing it with your finger. I add the most coats to the outter corner of my lashes, and I always make sure to wipe the end of the brush off onto the tube because the tip is narrow, therefore doesn't get the same treatment as the wider part of the spooly. I think thats where uneven length comes from. There is a little gunk at the tip of the brush and with it are fibers that will easily cling to your lashes. I use clinique primer because I feel that this alone does not make my lashes 'fat' enough. All length, no volume. If you want drag queen lashes, you can add Tweezerman fast lash to your tips. (I have a review of that product and how to use it as well.) One thing you need to be careful about - you cannot put this product too close to your water line. I have done it a few times and my waterline (where you tightline rather) has become very itchy because fibers get stick to that skin and itch my eye and lid. This can be remedied with a wet q tip but I'd rather avoid the inconvenience altogether. This does not do anything for curl, but I don't think it claims too. My lashes don't hold a curl anyway, so I can't judge. Washes off very easily - warm water removal, it just slips off like socks on feet.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 5 of 5
themisanthrope 1/18/2010 3:45:00 PM

This stuff is fantastic!! I used to use FY Eye (which is also amazing) but I found that FY Eye dries out from being opened many times (it's in a jar) and a lot of product was lost to the nooks and crannies of the glass jar. This is cheaper than Fy Eye which also motivated me to make the move. The color and consistency is identical to Fy Eye - but now to make the review more for people who have NOT tried Benefit's primer. TFSI is a peachy sort of color, maybe more nude. I am very pale (nw5) so no, the color does not show up on your lids. You need to learn how much is right for you (as with any primer) I use a dot on the tip of my index finger and pat onto my whole lid. You want enough to create a thin, but even layeer. If not, you can tell where you missed your primer. For instance, I had the perfect amount on my right eye, not enough on my left eye. Shadow on my right eye was more pigmented and even, whereas the shadow on the left eye looked sheerer and wasn't sitting in my fine lines (meaning the shadow was everywhere except my wrinklies so you could see lines of flesh through the shadow. ew) This involves practice - so give TFSI some time so you know how much to use for you. This lasts from morning till bedtime - sometimes I am sad to wash my face because my makeup still looks perfect! I use this with foiled eyeshadows, dry shadows, pigments etc. Even keeps shadesticks in place. Summer, winter, rain, or snow - again my shadow needs no touch ups. The tube is very convenient - I am using it like a toothpaste - working from the end and pushing product to the spout. Through this, I can estimate how much product is left. I purchased this in Feb 09 - it is now Jan 10 and I am only halfway through this tube. That is amazing.
