Styling Products -Phyto - Phytodefrisant

I have a LOT of fine, wavy hair. I always use product before blow-drying or flat-ironing & am always on the lookout for products that are natural & can be used on my hair whether I do it straight or air-dry/wavy. The CS @ Sephora talked me into this, to be honest. Not the best product I've used but certainly not the worst. My biggest gripe about the product is that it's a leave-in that you must then use a heat-device with it to "activate" it, per the CS and what I've read. So that even if I want to be wavy, I'd have to use the diffuser on my hairdryer or end up "crispy".

Cleansers -Caudalie - Instant Foaming Cleanser
rated 2 of 5

I wrote the price semi-expensive b/c had I bought it, it was a Sephora sample, it would've been a lot more. Yes, so it was a sample set with my VIP pts. I used the foaming cleanser all over but then the serum on 1/2 of my face. I liked the foam and thought it was so gentle that it was better as an a.m. cleanser, more than anything. Smell is nice. Within days I have the worst breakouts in a very long time! Nothing else in my routine has changed. Sephora CS said the product line would be "ok" for my skin type and in reading the other reviews, it's worked for some but as I say, YMMV! (your mileage may vary) The reason I know it's this and not the serum is because it didn't just happen on the cheek/side of face I used it on; it's everywhere! Ugh! Such a bummer!! I know it's not purging b/c this isn't a product that is supposed to have that effect...

Sunscreen -Peter Thomas Roth - Instant Mineral SPF 30
rated 5 of 5

** I have the newer product that is TINTED (in 3 strengths)** I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and I usually skip powder and SPF (If I can get away with it) b/c that's how bad my skin is. So, I would consider this a "bronzer" for me with ordinarily would be taboo...love it. You click the applicator to turn "off", "light" "medium" or "dark" and I find that it's very difficult to turn "off" so bare that in mind. It gives nice color and good coverage AND SPF. Since I keep my face out of the sun, even when on vacation, this helps me look NORMAL and not a different shade of white. It actually makes me look 'healthy' **gasp**. Winner!

Conditioner -LUSH - Forever in Bloom conditioner
rated 3 of 5
thefitchick 1/24/2011 11:19:00 AM

This is a very light conditioner-probably even too light for me. My hair is very thick but fine. If I don't blow it dry, it's wavy. This doesn't help me in the styling department or in the frizz department. It's difficult to comb out (which I do in the shower). The smell is fantastic. This is probably the 4th conditioner I've tried of theirs, as a longtime user, and probably my least favorite.

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Biomedic Purifying Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
thefitchick 1/24/2011 11:16:00 AM

This BioMedic cleanser is now with the La Roche Posay line. I bought it thinking it would work like the Effacler (??) products because it is purported to be more medicated, etc. Nope. Like the other better. It's ok-not an HG product but not bad either. It does have a strong medicated smell but other than that, it reminds me a lot of MB's glycolic foaming wash.

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Effaclar Purifying Gel Cleanser

Love this cleanser. Bought it overseas when the airline lost my luggage and all my skin *stuff*. Used this almost exclusively to remove dirt/grime etc. Lathers nicely. Rinses clean. Packaging is perfect for use at home or travel. My skin never had a poor reaction to switching to it- in fact, cleared my skin. Winner!

Treatments -DERMAdoctor - Picture Porefect serum
rated 3 of 5
thefitchick 1/24/2011 11:10:00 AM

Been using this for a month. I don't notice any immediate results (in terms of mattifying or "shrinking") and haven't noticed anything longterm...in fact (hate to say this) the blackheads that I did have, are not loosened or lessened. It is sticky to apply. To me, it's just an 'eh' product. When I feel like I cannot go bare on the T-zone, I use this.

Shampoo -LUSH - Godiva Solid 2 in 1
rated 4 of 5

Love the smell! Switched from The Blonde to this and happier for it. It's not my HG of shampoos, though. You almost have to have a (reusable) tin to store/travel/pack it with.

Toners -DHC - Coenzyme Q10 lotion
rated 5 of 5
thefitchick 3/7/2010 4:53:00 PM

I use it like the reviewer below me posted-not on a cotton ball and swiped around like a usual "toner". I don't like toners and have tried a ton but this...LIKE! I'm acne prone, clogged pores with fine lines. This is one product that (knock on wood) hasn't caused any "issues" as a toner/lotion. I don't find it too tacky or sticky compared to a lot of other toners, lotions, anti-ox treatments, Vit C's...it's on the low side. I wish the price were lower. I don't qualify for any of the DHC discounts b/c I don't buy enough. They have samples to try if you are unsure.

Moisturizers -DHC - Acerola Cream
rated 4 of 5
thefitchick 3/7/2010 4:46:00 PM

I have acne, clogged pores and fine lines. This is the only Vit C product that doesn't cause any "issues" or irritation. It fades brown spots and post-zit marks fast. I like the packaging b/c it seems it would make it stable longer...dunno. But I will keep buying this product. A little goes a long way therefore the little jar seems to last over 6mos!

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Drying Lotion
rated 4 of 5
thefitchick 8/30/2009 2:10:00 PM

Just started using this. I've tried everything over the counter and prescription. Topical and meds. Lasers. You name it. I get a immediate visible reduction in zits. It brings cysts to a head. It dries out some of the smaller whiteheads so that they vanish overnight (therefore less popping...bad, I know...). Was skeptical because of the magazine ad hype and didn't know anyone who had tried it. I'm ready to try the buffering lotion for some of my deeper cysts.

Hair -Moroccanoil - Moroccan Oil
rated 5 of 5
thefitchick 8/30/2009 2:06:00 PM

This oil is getting a lot of hype in the mag's this summer. I also read Cindy Crawford's quote in Vogue saying that as she ages, her hair dries out and this prevents that. blahblahblah...picked up the bottle after talking to 2 ppl IRL who have used it. Love it. Little goes a long way. It immediately made my hair smoother and shinier. I got complements from people the next day! My hair is super thick, super wavy, and basically super unmanageable. I previously used Keratase deep cond. treatments but will switch to this. I rated the packaging a "3" b/c who cares really?! It's in a box and they could've sold it w/o the box and saved some paper.
