Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
thebriggs 6/9/2010 10:04:00 AM
I LOVE this product! I use it everyday, each morning and night, and in-between when I can. My hands get pretty roughed up and definitely look older than the rest of me. After a day of bartending, with the hands in the water, then can look kinda scruffy. I use this all over my hands, not just my cuticles and I have had amazing results. I use the almond cream as well, but I enjoy the smell of the lemon so much more! It smells like a delicious lemon pound cake! My hands are softer, smoother and my cuticles are not splitting and breaking as often. It's only been a few weeks, but I love that the progress is immediate. I hate waiting for results! Some people may not like the waxy-like texture and they may hate having to dig in a pot for the product, but its worth every minute and every penny!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Exact Eyelights Waterproof, Black Sapphire
thebriggs 6/9/2010 9:57:00 AM
I wish you could notice the "eyelights" a bit more. I did notice some sparkly bits, but nothing that anyone else would see. This is absolutely the most difficult waterproof mascara I have used. I used eye makeup remover, soap, petroleum jelly, etc...and this stuff just doesn't want to come off! This is great for the 8 hours I want it to stay on, but I prefer NOT to wear my makeup to bed each night. I have to work so hard to get this stuff off that I rip out eyelashes each time. I only used this for one week, so I will try the regular, non-waterproof next....maybe.

Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme
thebriggs 5/4/2010 11:29:00 AM
OMG! I love this hand cream! It is a handsaver! In fact, I use it all over for all the scaly dry patches that randomly show up now and then. It smells amazing...like a delicious almond cookie. I have my hands in and out of water all day and they were looking pretty bad. After one use, literally ONE USE, my hands were completely moisturized and looked & felt 100 times better. They used to be red, raw, flaky and scaly and now they are beautiful. I can't recommend this creme enough! The only downside is the packaging....the whole digging into a pot to get the stuff out... is no fun. For the ladies who have nails, it would be difficult to use without having it constantly stuck underneath your nails. I still would recommend and repurchase, though...because it is the best hand creme I have ever used in my entire life!

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
thebriggs 4/15/2010 10:17:00 AM
I read some of the other reviews about the "studio secrets" primers, so I thought I would give this one a try. I have some serious issues with wanting my makeup to last all day (like they want to claim they do) I hate having to go through 15 steps each day just to put on my face, but when you're constantly in the public eye, believe me, it matters. I don't want to have to think about my makeup during the day and I don't want to have to check myself every time I pass a mirror. THIS product helps me in all those aspects! After washing my face, putting on anti-aging eye concealer and regenerist serum, I smooth on little pats of this primer. (A little goes a long way!) It feels fab-u-lous on my skin and instantly mattifies any shine on my t-zone. I hate that I have to dig it out with my concealer brush and then spread it with my fingertips....but alas.....it sure does make my foundation go on smoothly. My face feels "set" after I finish with my foundation and I don't see my giant pores, acne scars or uneven skin blotches. I feel like a porcelain doll. After working from a 10 hour day, my makeup is still there! No touch ups, no blotting sheets, no nothing! I thought my foundation did it's job before, but this just makes it perform like no other product I've ever used. I would definitely repurchase, even though the price is high for such a small jar. I only need to use a little bit, so $10 once a month is worth it for me!

Treatments (Eye) -Olay - Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum
thebriggs 4/11/2010 7:51:00 PM
I do like this eye serum. It feels hydrating underneath my eyes, goes on smoothly and has nice light sheen to it to "reflect" light. It doesn't burn my eyes at all, which is why I have been using it for so long without trying another product. My eyes can be temperamental with lotions and face products. I've been using it for 6 months now and can't say I'm noticing a difference in the quality of my under eye skin or in my lovely fine lines. I still get the crepey look without the proper primers. I was hoping it would do more for me, but maybe I need to try a different Olay product to get the effect I want. I really want to try pro-x, but the price has been scaring me away. The packaging is nice because its a pump. I'm not even half way through the product and its been just about 6 months. Maybe I need to use more than I am, it just freaks me out to smear too much of 6 different products on my face each day. The price isn't bad. Its drugstore pricing for something I want to work as well as a luxury product. At this point I would rather pay $30 for the same amount of something that I feel actually works. I'm all about prevention and maintenance....and I can't say this product delivers on either of those.

Eye Shadow -NYX - 10 Color Palette - Champagne & Caviar
thebriggs 4/11/2010 7:40:00 PM
If anyone says they hate this product because of the colors, they shouldn't be buying a nude color palette. This palette is supposed to be used as nude eyeshadow colors. This is an everyday look, not a "out at the club" look. This is a nice muted palette with nice shimmery browns and a couple good highlight colors. The nudes and browns all go on nicely, the only one I don't like the texture of is the white highlight. It is a bit chalky and just too much white for me. I'll stick to the single nyx pot called "my favorite color". It gives a bit of sparkle with the perfect flesh tone for underneath brows and in the corner of my eyes. The liner colors are perfect. Black and brown are all I need, I don't get into crazy blues, purples or pinks with my liners. I can wet my liner brush and they go on with high impact, or use them dry for a softer effect. The mirror on the inside is huge! I love that I can see my whole face, not just one eye. The makeup itself smells a little bit different (like it has no fragrance), but you can't tell unless you stick your nose right in it. Overall, I'm really pleased with this palette and will definitely get some great use out of it for my everyday look.

Shampoo -John Frieda - Root Awakening Strength Restoring Shampoo
thebriggs 4/11/2010 7:33:00 PM
I wanted to love this shampoo...I really did. John Frieda puts out a great anti-frizz line that I love. I have difficult hair. It's fine and thin, but frizzy and curly. It's dry, damaged and overprocessed too. I thought this would help with the root lifting I wanted. I thought it would be a lightweight shampoo that wouldn't weigh my hair down. I thought wrong. Pros: It smells fantastic! The packaging is handy and easy to use It lathers well Cons: Dries my hair out Doesn't seem to get my hair clean, so I lather, rinse and repeat...and repeat There are no "root-awakening" properties (in fact it makes my hair lay flat on top of my head and move into the dreaded "triangle" towards my ends. My hair is not stronger than before, its drier and breaks off more I will go back to L'Oreal EverPure because it works so much better for my hair and it has NO sulfates like this product does.

Eyes -Ardell - Demi Pixies
thebriggs 4/11/2010 7:27:00 PM
I love false eyelashes! Who wouldn't? These are so adorable and easy to use and it cuts down on the amount of mascara I feel I need to cake on each day. (can you tell I'm a makeup junkie?) I use the glue that starts off white and dries to a light brown color. I usually end up buying a half dozen packs of eyelashes each month. Not always these particular ones, but it makes my morning process go a bit quicker. The demi's are great because they look way more natural than some of the other ones and I can do a retro cat-eye effect with these quite nicely. I can usually use these about 3 times before they start to look terrible. So it only comes to about $1 per wear. Overall, I'm happy with the quality and ease of use.

Scrubs -Olay - Regenerist Detoxifying Pore Scrub
thebriggs 4/1/2010 11:37:00 PM
So, my "new" skin had been giving me problems in the past few months. I'm in my late 20's and I've definitely noticed a change. I was getting weird breakout problems and lots of uneven skin tone was happening...blegh. So I decided it was time to start the anti-aging process. Let me tell you that this stuff is SO worth it. In 3 days, my face was absolutely clear and my skin is so much smoother and way more even. It smells fantastic and the price is great. Do I love paying $9 for a facial cleanser? No, but this is something that I can now not live without. And its better than paying $20 or more for a similar product from a "high-end" line. I love finding something that works so well that I can run to Target and pick up

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner
thebriggs 2/12/2010 10:45:00 AM
This product is disgusting! The colors are so pretty, but the packaging is bizarre and the rubber tip is hard to deal with. Once I turned the dial about 85 times, the product finally started to seep through and I could only wish I had left it in the tube. As soon as I started to try and spread it on my lips, that's when I had issues. I couldn't spread it on. The weird rubber tip and the consistency made it impossible. It also felt like I was putting shards of glass on my lips. I tried to wear it, but I had to take it off after 15 minutes because it settled into the corners and inside of my lips and anytime I took a sip of a drink or ate or kissed, I felt though shards of glass again. Even after I took it off my lips still felt tortured, so I put on some burts bees and then topped it with my aveda lip gloss to help sooth and still make my lips look nice. I will never buy this again!

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
thebriggs 2/12/2010 10:40:00 AM
My biggest complaint with this product is the consistency. When I put it on my face, I have these little foundation "bits" all over. No amount of blending could make them go away, I have to literally pick them off my face. This is more of a sheer coverage, which I'm not really going for. My skin tone is uneven so I need something with at least medium coverage, but I prefer full coverage. This foundation was hard to layer and after a few hours it managed to slide off my face, even though my skin isn't oily. The colors were great though, I did find a perfect match for my skin tone, I just couldn't get over the horrible consistency

Concealers -L'Oreal - Infallible Concealer
thebriggs 2/12/2010 10:34:00 AM
So I'll have to agree with other reviewers on this product. I have dry skin so when I use this product I have to work it with my fingers first to warm it up so it blends well. I just rub my finger on the top of the stick for a bit then dot it under my eye and blend with a concealer brush. I love that it stays on literally ALL DAY. What I do love it most for is as an eye shadow primer. It helps my shadow stay on all day, it doesn't crease and it helps colors pop. I may or may not buy this again as a concealer, but as a shadow primer, yes.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 15 Normal/Dry Skin
thebriggs 2/12/2010 10:27:00 AM
I bought this foundation wanting to love it, but I had such a hard time with it! It wasn't about the color of the product or the consistency. I had a really hard time blending the product in and once I did, it did the "let's settle into my fine lines" dance. Truly, not after an hour I had caked up foundation in my smile lines, under my eyes and around my nose. Setting with powder or not didn't make a difference, I was just constantly looking in the mirror and rubbing the caked bits of my face (which also rubbed off the foundation) so I looked blotchy and you could tell where the foundation had come off. I tried to super blend it in one day, using 3 other products to help, but nothing worked. I like revlon products, just not this one.

Liquid -L'Oreal - infallible never fail makeup
thebriggs 2/12/2010 10:21:00 AM
I recently bought this foundation and I LOVE IT! Finally, I have found a base that can give me the coverage I need at an affordable price. This foundation comes out pretty thick and you can definitely tell that it will stick around. I have combination skin, but with this you would never know it. It mattifies after it sets, so I can wear it with powder or not, depending on where I'm going. It feels good on my skin...not like I'm wearing a full coverage foundation. I got the palest color and it goes perfectly with my natural color. There is no problem with lines around my face or "floating face". This foundation is especially perfect for me because I am a bartender, work long hours, and I can't take time out of my day to reapply makeup. It truly does last! One drawback....I noticed it does not last the full 16 hours, more like 8. After about 8 hours I had to blot with some tissue around my nose and chin. But overall...this foundation is fantastic!
