Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Perfection Volumizing Mascara
rated 4 of 5

Wow! This is a great mascara! If you could give 4.5 - I would. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is that I am personally extremely picky about mascara and I think just a hint more volume would be nice, but frankly I rarely think any mascara does everything I want ...this is really excellent and you can't beat the price (and I'm not unwilling to shell out for a good mascara). I tried the LashBlast for volume a while back and was totally disappointed. This is one to try! My experience: Nice volume, kept the curl, nice drama without being over-the-top!, no chaotic spidery sprays (going in different directions LOL).

Mascara -Max Factor - 2000 Calorie Mascara
rated 5 of 5
tgkinley 12/29/2008 4:05:00 PM

Love this!!! One of my pet peeves about mascaras is when it un-curls my curled lashes. This is one mascara where I will make a slight exception because it's awesome. In fact my lashes stay mostly curled -just not totally. The color is rich, slightly glossy (but not annoyingly so.) And I personally get a lot of thickness and some nice length from it. My go-too mascara has been CG Volume Exact because it builds and doesn't clump (or uncurl) - but I think the MF 2000 Calorie is quickly replacing it because the payoff is much more dramatic! I'm totally impressed - and you cannot beat the price.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Black Cat
rated 4 of 5
tgkinley 12/29/2008 4:01:00 PM

I must say: "wow!" on many different levels (both good and bad.) I will say right up front I'm pretty new to the black shadow thing even though I'm almost 40 (i know: nerd alert) -but I always thought black would be too much. Anyway - I have MAC Carbon which I really like, but sometimes it just seems too matte. I want to try a little pigment over it, but there is only so much work I can do with this look. So - enter Stila Black Cat. The formula is pretty creamy for a shadow (in a good way) and went on very nicely. The good part is that it seem to have immediate staying power, but that was also the bad part - it was very hard to buff out the hard edges. This definitely seems like something that takes a little more work - but I do think it gives a pretty powerful look with the nice shimmer and almost decadent color. I'm not totally positive I would buy this again, but I think if you are a real black e/s conoisseur - this is worth a try.

Blush -Flirt - Peek-a-Blush Sheer Powder Cheek Color in Caramel Belle
rated 5 of 5

Totally awesome blush! This is the best quality blush I've ever used by far. And for the price - it can't be beat! The pigment is quality, long-lasting -blush rarely makes it all day on my face- but this is the best wearing yet. Subtle shimmer, nothing glittery/chunky, and it's all finely milled. The packaging is a little bit clunky, but not bad enough to not buy this. I plan on buying Heartthrob next! Which looks to be the near-equivalent of Nars Orgasm but with finer shimmer.

Brows -Revlon - Brow Fantasy
rated 4 of 5
tgkinley 11/4/2008 5:32:00 PM

This is a GREAT brow product! I love that there is both a pencil and a gel (mascara-style wand.) This makes this totally economical -but more importantly it works. The only reason I didn't give it 5 lippies, is that my first one...the lid to the pencil isn't securely on there. it slips off easily and when traveling this is a problem. I've had to tape it on there. So beware. I'm hoping it was a fluke, because I did buy a 2nd. I think this product is worth it. P.S. - i have a stubborn gray hair right at my forehead cowlick and I can use this to cover it if necessary. Bonus!

Lips -Sally Hansen - Lip Inflation Extreme
rated 2 of 5
tgkinley 9/23/2008 11:38:00 AM

I had eyed this for a long time hoping maybe it would be an inexpensive dupe for Lip Fusion (which I love) - so wrong! i ended up with an instant look of messy red popcicle! And it dried out my lips right away. I actually liked the cinnamon smell (normally don't like smell in my gloss) - but I think the cinnamon caused the above-mentioned problems. Obviously this works for some folks - so if you really insist on trying it - buy it somewhere they allow returns!!! Mine is going back unfortunately.

Eye Shadow -Laura Geller - Truffle Eye Shadow
rated 4 of 5
tgkinley 9/18/2008 4:39:00 PM

Green Eyed Ladies Alert! This color (described as cranberry red shimmer on Sephora) is beautiful and brings out green eyes better than anything else I've tried. And I have tried so many! I'm a total believer that nothing brings out green better than red, but you can run the risk with reds making you look sick, or like Marylin Manson (which is just fine if that is what you're after...but doesn't really work in a professional setting ha ha.) Truffle is so sophisticated: warm "red" with just a hint of brown to get the sophistication and the most mild shimmer. My only complaint is that it does crease a little more than other shadows. But combined with black liner on upper and lower waterlines = GREEN EYES!

Hair -Kerastase - Masquintense - Fine Hair
rated 2 of 5
tgkinley 8/15/2008 3:27:00 PM

I'm one of the unlucky few that this didn't work for. It actually dried out my hair and I gave it two seperate attempts 2 weeks apart. Bummed because it's so expensive. Obviously this works for many people, but I would make sure you can return it due to the price (BTW - Kerastase was quite good about return after 1 use.) Good service.

Conditioner -Ojon - Hydrating Thickening Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
tgkinley 8/1/2008 5:09:00 PM

I like this stuff. I had no intention whatsoever of buying any Ojon products because due to my fine, thin hair I thought they'd be greasy and weigh it down. Not so with this stuff (use the shampoo shampoo as well) - I actually feel like it does what it says: hydrates and gives me a little thickness. And I have not had any weigh-down at all. It also does a nice job of detangling my color-treated, heat damaged hair. Quite impressed. The price is ridiculous though - hence the 4 lippies. But I will repurchase.

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Vive Pro Color Vive for Highlighted Hair
rated 4 of 5
tgkinley 8/1/2008 5:05:00 PM

I actually like this product for every other/3rd day use. It makes my hair very soft and conditions the highlighted, tangly hair very well. Bonus: it has some UV protection in it. No - this won't give you tons of volume, but it still has nice swish and bounce, and some shine. For the price, I view this as a nice, cheap way to feel like I'm sort of "reparing" my hair (quotes because I don't think you can really undue damage) between my less frequent treatments like Kerastase. I use it with Aveda madder root to get a bit of color and alternate days with Ojon Hydrating poo/conditioner.

Shampoo -Oscar Blandi - Pronto Dry Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
tgkinley 7/31/2008 1:47:00 PM

Great product! I have tried both the powder and the spray and I agree with others: don't bother with the spray, but the powder is excellent. Oddly like other spray dry shampoo reviews I've read, I got about 2 uses out of the spray and then it was empty! But I took a chance with the powder and so glad I did. You do have to be careful to not put too much in one spot/part -only becasue then you have to rub out excess "white" - but just go slow/light to get the hang of it. This stuff is a lifesaver to get rid of oil. Great for travel also.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Soft and Slow Lipglass
rated 5 of 5
tgkinley 6/30/2008 2:15:00 PM

MAC Soft & Slow - is my new absolute HG lip gloss! this is the color I have been looking for for years! I consider this a neutral pinky with the slighest hint of brown -I almost hate writing brown...I don't like colors that make you look dead or ashy - but it just adds enough to make it neutral and not too pink. This gloss is not necessarily sheer, it has enough opacity to add dimension - but still look totally natural. The lasting power seems quite good for a gloss - ranks close to Stila glazes and Lip Fusion. I'm very impressed. Looks good with Lancome liner Caramel, however liner isn't even really necessary due to the depth. I think this would be versatile for many skin tones. I have slightly light, yellow undertones. A friend with much more tan skin put it on and it looked great on her too. I immediately went out and bought 2 more tubes (LE) - that is how great I think this is.

Eyes -BeneFit Cosmetics - She Laq ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
tgkinley 5/20/2008 12:26:00 PM

I think this is a great product. Maybe it doesn't hold off running eyeliner 100% - but until I find a product that actually does, I give this 5 lippies because the last 2 days I've used this have been dramatically better than without it. It may seem a little pricey - but this will last forever!!! And honestly, if you buy it somewhere with a good return policy - there is no harm in trying it. I personally think it is really worth it!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Color Pen
rated 3 of 5
tgkinley 5/16/2008 10:18:00 AM

I had such high hopes for this becuase I love the whole "pen" concept (lip glosses etc...) for the convenience of it. And the notion of fast drying is great. But this particular product needs some work: Color fine, and it does dry fast. But it leaves brushstrokes big time!! And it doesn't dispense well (it sort of sits at the base and you don't know it's dispensed until you hit your nail.) All and all - if they can perfect the brushstroke problem - I'd reconsider buying it again, but not until then. I'd save your money.

Blush -Lancome - Blush Subtil - Cappucine
rated 2 of 5
tgkinley 5/14/2008 12:47:00 PM

Unfortunately, I was totally dissapointed with this and tossed it after about 6 weeks. "Subtil" is the operative word here, almost impossible to get any pigment whatsoever, and then it dissapeared by mid-day! While I think the color is nice, natural, healthy-looking, I think it was a total waste of money.
