Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche Star Secret Aishwarya Beige
texasceleste 8/23/2007 5:39:00 PM
There are only two lipsticks in my entire LIFE that I have used an entire tube of...Nars Dolce Vita and L'oreal Aishrawya Beige. I have actually used two tubes of this! It is my workday go-to lipstick. I find it very subtle and polished, and also quite moisturizing. The only thing I don't like is the stinky L'oreal fragrance that is present in all of their lipsticks. I think that other reviewers have described it accurately as a semi-matte nude-brown with pink-y undertones and no shimmer. If you are warm complected and pale, I think you will find this very wearable.

Lipstick -Givenchy - Rouge Interdit 07-Mystic Pink
texasceleste 5/18/2007 1:41:00 PM
This is a nice neutral (but not too brown) dark rose color with no noticeable glitter. Very suitable for my light olive skin and doesn't leave an unattractive pink stain or make my teeth look yellow (a common problem I have with pink lippies--perhaps a whitening treatment is in order!!) Not quite matte, you can see that it's creamy on the lips, but definitely no shimmer. A grown-up lip choice. Not out of place for the office or on a night out, and a nice creamy formula to boot. I am a big-time lip-licker so I have problems finding a formula that is moisturizing enough for me--not an issue at all with this. Packaging--eh. I find the whole thing a little gimmicky (and bulky, the cardinal sin for my bulging everyday m/u bag.) I think it is nicely done, though--I don't find the cloth pull to be cheap, and it is attractive. I'm on the fence about it.

Meh. Nothin' special. EDIT: gave this away and bought Diorshow. Hated the brush (they have revamped, but I still won't re-buy this.)

Conditioner -TiGi - Bed Head Self Absorbed Conditioner

OMG this smells like puke. I am only using it because my mom gave me a giant pump top bottle (which is the only thing I love about this junk, the pump top!) Seems to be drying out my ends and the smell made me nauseous this morning. Yuck!

Huge rave for this. As I write, I am sick and congested with a cold that has kept me awake and unable to breathe or smell anything for days. My co-worker just brought me some of this and I applied it to my neck, ears, temples as directed and all of a sudden, I could smell again! And another co-worker said it was nice to see me smile again, for the first time in 5 days. I love this stuff and I am totally buying a bottle to help with my headaches, colds, and sleepless nights. I would never have thought that an aromatherapy product could make me feel so much better.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Slip Pink
texasceleste 12/31/2005 9:04:00 PM
A total winner-super unique and looks good both on me (PPP/LLL with blue/green eyes and medium brown hair) and my mom (olive skinned with dark brown hair/eyes.) I haven't seen another color from any line that comes close to this. Others have described it well so I won't attempt. A must-have for any MAC enthusiast or fan of trend colors.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Concentrated Duo - Spirited
texasceleste 12/25/2005 12:36:00 AM
This is a pretty duo of teal and indigo--I bought it because I needed an indigo shadow to line with and I didn't have time to get to the mall before going out. Although people have complained about the shadow pots being bulky, I actually liked the design, which includes a mirror on the other side. I haven't tried the teal yet and really don't see myself wearing it much, but I tried the indigo on a friend (dry) and on myself (wetlined and then dry.) It "travels" much worse than Milani or MAC shadows, in fact it's almost as flaky as a loose pigment IMO. I had to take a baby wipe to my friend's face to clean up her undereye area after applying it to her lid dry! It was a good idea for L'oreal to advertise the higher level of pigmentation in these products, as their e/s has left much to be desired in that area in the past. They are a major improvement in that area (holographic shades were so poorly pigmented, the advertisement bordered on pure fiction.) However, the wear time is still not as good as Milani. Despite its shortcomings, the indigo shade is pretty, wearable, and went on nicely when I wetlined with it. In summary, it was OK in a pinch, but I think Milani still takes the cake for best drugstore e/s.

Fragrances -Hanae Mori - Hanae Mori Butterfly EDP
texasceleste 11/22/2005 4:36:00 PM
So, someone sent me a sample of the EDT and I loved it. I bought the EDP because perfume never lasts all day on me--probably my oily skin! I actually like the way the EDT smells on me a little bit better, but I'm still in love with this scent. Men like it and my fiance said that the bathroom "smelled like pancakes" after I was through getting ready this morning. I can only guess it was the Mori because he's never said that before. The bottle is a little too girly/fragile to me; I prefer bold, modern packaging like Alexander McQueen or Viktor and Rolf, but that's really the only drawback IMO.However, I still gave this a 4 on packaging quality because the quality is not really in question, I just don't like the top-heavy design.

Fragrances -GAP Beauty - Scent editions eau de toilette sprays
texasceleste 6/11/2005 6:54:00 PM
I bought the 1.7 oz. eau de toilette in Spun Orange Blossom and I'm really happy with it! At $29.50 I think it's really reasonable, especially compared to the $19.50 perfume oils. I'm happy with the staying power, and fragrance seems to fade very quickly on me usually. But I think my favorite thing about this fragrance particularly is how much it smells like higher-end fragrances such as Jo Malone and Marc Jacobs. I was convinced I needed Marc Jacobs' Blush but have been just as happy with the scent of Spun Orange Blossom (which, although supposedly a one-note scent, really seems to skew more towards honeysuckle or perhaps jasmine on me.) The staying power of this GAP version is actually better than the more expensive Blush, so I couldn't be more happy with it.

Polishes -OPI - Let Them Eat Rice Cake
texasceleste 5/10/2005 11:04:00 AM
Hateful! God, I wish I had read the reviews of this here before buying it...but what the heck, it's six bucks wasted. Everything bad that was said about this polish is TRUE. It has an unfortunate opaque consistency, which would have been fine except for the fact that it's streaky as all get-out. And the color-maybe there is someone in the world whose complexion this hideous color would work on, but I can't think of whom. It makes nails appear greyish-purple, like a once-livid bruise that is now drying out. If you are looking for a HG nude or lighter shade for the summer, try Dulce de Leche instead. Skip this one, no matter what Allure has to say about it!

Fragrances -Versace - Crystal Noir
texasceleste 12/29/2004 10:02:00 AM
I hated this and thought it was mannish the first time I tried it; however, I do like this the more I try it. However, the gardenia top note does not last *at all* and it ends up smelling like straight up sandalwood on me. I got it as a Sephora sample and I wear it occasionally, but it's too woody for me to actually buy. Sexy, though, and the men do love it. Good for winter parties.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Giggle Glossimer
texasceleste 12/4/2004 10:57:00 AM
This is my absolute HG l/g. It's exactly the color of MLBB. My only gripe--besides the exorbitant price, but what price beauty?-- ;) is the packaging. It's gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but something about the consistency of the gloss and the wand tube that it comes in really does not add up. I have so much trouble getting good wand saturation and I am never able to apply enough without some fancy maneuvering. One other thing that I noticed for you bargain hunters: while at the d/s yesterday, I compared the color of this (in the tube only, not on yet) to Revlon SL l/g in Nude Lustre. While not a dead ringer it is certainly quite comparable, maybe just a smidge less rosy. Worth a try. Still, I have no doubt that I will continue to buy this. The texture is great, nice and thick but not gloppy, and staying power is second to none. All in all, a nice product.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Invisible Blemish Treatment
texasceleste 11/19/2004 8:17:00 AM
Ugh--this product is 28% alcohol and it feels (and smells) like you are treating your face with nearly undiluted rubbing alcohol. A big no for those of you like me, who are cursed with both oily, acne-prone skin and sensitivity. Clean & Clear usually has great drugstore acne treatments (particularly their bp product, Persagel), however, this one I would pass on. If there's salicylic acid in here somewhere, it's not doing anything for me.

Fragrances -Dawn Spencer Hurwitz - Toast
texasceleste 11/18/2004 11:48:00 AM
Yummy, yummy, yummy. This is the most comforting scent I have ever worn in my life. I want to buy a bottle for my mommy so that she will always smell this comforting when I give her a hug! I agree with the poster below who said that the only really noticeable notes were the cinnamon and amber ones; that is the case for me as well. Good staying power.
