Skincare - Face -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - 55% Lactic Acid Peel
rated 3 of 5
texangal 10/20/2008 11:45:00 AM

I was highly skeptical to order this product as it appears to be homemade. However, due to the positive reviews I placed an order. It is approximately $40 for a 1 oz plastic bottle bundled with same sized pH prep solution. Shipping for the kit is about $7. I did not receive a sample of their green tea soap - instead I received a small heart shaped sponge. No idea what I would do with this? I used this product for the first time last night. I followed the instructions exactly. When I first applied the peel, my face stung. Particularly around my cheeks. I let it sit for the full 7 minutes. I rinsed off with a non-soap cleanser and re-applied the pH prep solution. My face was very warm and stung for at least 15 minutes after-wards. I went to bed soon thereafter. I woke up and didn't really notice any difference to my skin. Which is a good thing - no breakouts or bumps. YET. I plan to use the peel once a week and will come back and update. I am hoping to fade some acne scars and hyper-pigmentation around my mouth and chin area. Update: 10/21/08 Apparently 7 minutes is way too long for my skin. I noticed that on my chin area and lower jaw - some burns. Also, the overall feel of my skin is like sandpaper, particularly on my cheeks. The instructions said up to 7 minutes, but this solution is stronger than I thought!

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Professional 5 essential brushes in a pouch
rated 3 of 5
texangal 4/22/2004 2:27:00 AM

I purchased this set upon reading all the great reviews on MUA. The smell off the pouch was unbelievably horrible. It took over a week to air out. The brushes were not as soft as I had envisioned them to be. Upon my first washing, the angled blush brush head separated from the handle. I exchanged it for the Sephora Portfolio Brush set. If you're wanting to purchase a decent starter set, I would choose this one versus the Professional 5. The quality was noticeably different - much softer and sturdy. The case is so much nicer and does not have a smell whatsoever. Overall, I do not recommend the Essential Brush set.

Hair -TiGi - Catwalk Honey &Oatmeal Shampoo and conditioner
rated 4 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 1:35:00 AM

This is my favorite TiGi shampoo/conditioner line. It smells great, but not too sweet. The conditioner is wonderfully hydrating. The last time I had my hair cut at Toni & Guy, I asked the hair-washer? which product they recommended for moisturizing and he said the best they have is probably the Oatmeal & Honey. Hey, he would know best (out of the Tigi line) right? I also use the Sexed Up line, but prefer and recommend this instead. Purchase the smaller bottles first to test it out, but once you're hooked, it's always best to buy salon shampoos by the litre - less expensive that way.

Conditioner -Pureology - Hydrate Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 1:29:00 AM

This product is on the expensive side. It was $40+ for the litre bottle. However, I don't have to use as much product versus other conditioners. There's a nice tingle (reminds me of Aveda's Rosemary Mint) and minty smell. There's tons of great natural ingredients too. My hair is naturally straight and simple to comb after washing, but after using this conditioner it glides/slips through with super ease. The shampoo is alright, but the conditioner is a definite recommend. Just pocketbook beware.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 1:19:00 AM

I love this product. I was going through this phase of purchasing all natural products when I stumbled across this lip balm. You can never have too many, right? It smells like peppermint and upon application, there's a slight cooling sensation coupled with a tingle. I have recommended this product to many friends and all gave good reviews. Would definitely repurchase.

Skincare - Body -Bath and Body Works - White Tea and Ginger (All Products)
rated 4 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 1:14:00 AM

I, like everyone else, flocked to BBW when they first opened. Back then they only had super fruity scents. (I think the only one they kept was Sun-Ripened Raspberry from the original line.) I had not gone back to the store in ages, until recently. I picked up the White Tea and Ginger body lotion to sniff. I liked it right away. (It reminded me of the more expensive Origins Ginger Souffle.) Since it was a lot cheaper and satisfied my ginger fix, I bought some. I was on a plane and the lady sitting to my right asked me what perfume I was wearing. I told her that it was the lotion and she complimented me on it. Since then, I've received several more. I would definitely repurchase. In fact, I went and bought more lotion bottles and anti-bacterial soap today.

Fragrances -Givenchy - Amarige de Givenchy
rated 5 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 1:05:00 AM

This is my all-time absolute favorite perfume. A classic. I've worn this scent since freshman or sophomore year in high school. I was roaming around the fragrance counters one day and stumbled upon it. I asked my mom to purchase it for me and have been wearing it ever since. I just recently turned 27 and will admit that it's a much more suitable scent for me now versus then. I always receive wonderful compliments when wearing Amarige. Even though I don't want everyone else and their mothers donning the same fragrance as myself, I highly recommend this scent above all others.

Gels/Soaps -Ahava - Dead Sea Mineral Mud Soap
rated 4 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 12:58:00 AM

I really enjoy this soap. It's not your typical soap, as it is infused with dead sea minerals. The fragance is really pleasant, almost perfume like. It leaves my skin clean, but not dry. Even though it's about $6 per bar, they last quite awhile. I use mine strictly for facial washing. I recommend this product.

Shampoo -Biosilk - Biosilk hydrating shampo
rated 1 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 12:54:00 AM

Since I adore the Biosilk serum, I decided to venture out and purchase the Shampoo and Conditioner. I was very disappointed. The shampoo barely lathered and dried out my hair. The conditioner did not condition either. I had to follow-up with a different brand of treatment conditioner, as my hair (stick straight and always easy to comb through) was in tangles. I don't recommend this product nor the conditioner.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Endless PLatinum - Shimmering Sandstone
rated 4 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 12:49:00 AM

I love the entire Endless Platinum line. This was the first shade that I tried. I was really impressed with the way my lips sparkled. The shimmer is noticeable from all angles. It makes the perfect evening lipstick. I also own Moonlit Mica and it's also looks great. I recommend this particular line above all other L'Oreal lip products.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - L'Oreal Endless Platinum in Moonlit Mica
rated 4 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 12:44:00 AM

I love the Endless Platinum line. This is great for evening wear, as it contains sparkles. No, I don't mean the cheesy kind you find in teen makeup. I just purchased this particular color and truly love it. I'm Asian and should wear shades with Yellow/Orange undertones (according to Prescriptives) but this color looks great on me. I recommend the entire line.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
rated 3 of 5
texangal 12/4/2003 12:37:00 AM

Decent mask considering the price - less than $4 a pop. It did help dry my face, as I have combination skin. One thing that I did not enjoy was the smell. Even after repeated thorough washing, I could not rid myself of the odd smell - sulfur? I'm not typically sensitive to smell, but it really bothered my senses. I definitely prefer my more expensive Ahava Mud Mask. Albeit it being pricey, I like the fact that it contains dead sea minerals.
