Polishes -Sally Hansen - Nail Art Pen
rated 1 of 5
tbabi 4/20/2013 12:01:00 AM

I have the same experience with these nail art pens others here do. I bought the black and white ones from Wal-mart hoping that it would be easy to do cute designs with. It's easy to do designs but the white one is see through you have to do many coats to get it to show up. Once you finish your design and you put a top coat over it as directed, it smudges all over. I tried giving it time to dry but it doesn't help either. I don't know what to do with them. I just have them sitting around. I'm gonna try them again and see what happens.. perhaps try different top coats I don't know. The idea is awesome but I think it's the water-based thing that makes it bad. Don't purchase this. Save your money cuz they are quite expensive.

Styling Products -TiGi - Rockaholic Fun Times Hair Spray
rated 5 of 5

This has crazy hold. I feel like this is a product is multi-purpose. I use it when I'm trying to get volume without teasing or getting hair to remain in place. I really like it but it does smell too sweet (strawberry lemonade a bit candyish). It is rather pricey but it does last a long time to me as a little goes a long way. It also has never flaked on me so all of that are the reasons I love this hairspray. Packaging is really edgy looking but my second can started leaking. (I'm pretty sure it was my fault after packing it on my 1.5hr trip) It stopped leaking I think after it dried on the outside of the can. I can still use it, I just can't flip it around too much. Never had the nozzle clog though. I would suggest buying a travel size and testing out if you like it or not before purchasing a whole can that you may not like. It all comes down to knowing what you want for your hair and how to use this product. Ex. Limp hair = spray roots or height/volume. Too many people spray this on like crazy like one of those cheap drugstore hairsprays and wonder why their hair is a mess....

Misc Beauty Tools -Earth Therapeutics - Soft Soles Gel Booties-Socks

If you get dry feet from wearing sandals all summer or walking on the beach bare foot than you need this. WOW they make your feet baby soft when you apply your favorite foot cream with it overnight! Works every time but they are pretty pricey, I think it was $30 CAN. I usually do a good pumice scrub, apply foot cream and then these gel booties and your feet go back to normal.

Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Pedi-Expert Pedicure Kit
rated 3 of 5

I have the Pedi-Expert Shower one (pink & blue). It's pretty basic. It's essentially a container with a flat pumice attachment that attaches to the top. The bottom has a brush and the middle has nothing. It comes with a small cuticle pusher that you could put inside but I wish that it came with more attachments because the inside is bare. But it does do what it's supposed to do and for $2.50 or maybe less I really can't complain. The reason I got it is because I bought my mother a Revlon Pedi-Expert but the one that's kinda like the ped egg with stainless steel blades. Well it worked great for her but after constant use for what seemed like forever it got dull, even though it says lifetime warranty. I figured since hers was great perhaps another one by the same brand would work for me. I got the shower one because I don't really have problems with callus only when I wear sandals constantly or barefoot on the beach in the summer. This is good for people who occasionally need to work on their feet so to purchase again I think I'd just buy a huge pumice stone instead.

Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Precision Lash Adhesive
rated 5 of 5

The applicator tip is very precise and makes it easy to apply without ton of mess or long drying times. It's also very easy to remove and invisible when placed on eyelashes. Better than duo in my opinion but the only problem is it does get gunky when the glue dries at the top of the tube but it's ok once you clean off the rim.

Crème -BeneFit Cosmetics - Some Kind-A Gorgeous
rated 4 of 5

At first I didn't like this product but once I played around with it, I really like it. What I like is it doesn't feel like your wearing makeup and it gives your face a silky even complexion. Sometimes I wear it over That Gal brightening face primer and it gives you such a perfect looking face. I don't use the sponge that comes with it because I just feel like it soaks up all the product and it doesn't give me a good finish. I use a good flat top buffer brush to do the job and I get no dry patches. I got dry patches when I wasn't well moisturized/primed and used the sponge that comes with it but as long as you do the basics it works for me.The bad thing about it is it smells bad but the smell doesn't linger.

Lip Treatments -BeneFit Cosmetics - Lip Plump
rated 4 of 5
tbabi 1/17/2013 5:45:00 AM

Ha nooo.. it says lip plump because the nude colour is supposed to make your lips look bigger and fuller if used on it's own. It has no properties to sting and make it fuller. It's actually a primer that requires you to apply only a few dots and then smooth over the lips. It is a bit drying but when done sparingly under darker lipsticks it gives the lipstick staying power. Which is what you want because darker lipsticks can bleed. You don't really need this product if you already have a lip liner that matches your lipstick - but if lip liners don't give you enough staying power, then this product could work for you. A down side is that it is drying but hopefully your lipstick isn't drying too and if you plan to wear it alone the shade may not look good on everyone.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Smooth 'N Shine Extra Strength Polishing Serum

I've had a bottle of this forever because you only need a small amount. If you apply to much it can look greasy so a dime or nickle size is really all you need if your hair looks dry/dull.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Lemon Aid
rated 1 of 5

It creases so badly and it is so light in colour it makes me look crazy and sick. You wouldn't think it would crease so badly because you literally have to work at warming it up before attempting to slide it over your lid. But then once warmed up it's slightly oily and magnifies lines that aren't really visible if you haven't have used it in the first place.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

Sephora is pretty far away for me now so I decided to give this gel eyeliner a go since my other one dried up. This one was really good, I was very surprised how smooth and jet black it was. Great product I will keep repurchasing it because it's exactly like the other high end ones I've bought and it was really easy to remove and stayed put throughout the day.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Carbon Black Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner
rated 1 of 5
tbabi 1/17/2013 2:46:00 AM

I hate this. A few years ago I bought a great eyeliner with a very small tip that got discontinued and I thought because this one was labelled felt tip that it would be similar. WRONG! this has a huge felt tip that gives you thick application and was super watery. Even when I shook it up it would just continue to make my eyeliner look patchy. When I tried going over it it just removed more of it. I don't have the patience for a eyeliner like this. Everyone says it's so great so maybe I got a bad one but still I don't like how big the felt tip was.

Treatments -Aphogee - Two-Step Protein Treatment (formerly Treatment for Damaged Hair)
rated 5 of 5
tbabi 1/14/2013 12:48:00 AM

From damaging my hair consistently for many years with flat irons, curling irons and blow dryers my hair had 3 textures. The root was my curly 3b/3c hair and the middle was 2c/3a texture and the end being stick straight dead. I wanted to fix this and didn't want to go the drastic route of cutting the dead ends off so I was introduced to this product. It helped revive those stick straight ends to a 2c/3a texture that I could somewhat deal with until my hair grew out to where I could cut them off. When my hair got back to it's normal state, I returned to the evil flat iron and it gave me the same problem but with loads of frizz. I tried the 2 step treatment and it has revived some of my curls. (I will slowly cut of those ends that are not my real texture slowly) The 2 step protein treatment is messy and stinky. I used a spray bottle the second time but still it still drips and makes a mess. It also is very stinky but that's expected from pure protein. Great product.. did an awesome job on my very damaged ends. The moisturizer had great slip but wasn't really a great moisturizer. The second go at using this product I mixed it with another moisturizer for added moisture. I bought the little packs and I bought 2 the first time and then the second time I did it I bought 3 because my hair is sooo thick, 2 seemed like it wasn't enough. Directions were easy to follow but for those that don't know.. don't place a towel under your hair when doing the protein treatment or any clothing because your hair literally will harden to whatever material it dries to. Don't agitate the hair too much as well because depending on how fragile and damaged your hair is, it could just snap off when the protein is dried in hair. I know it sounds scary but honestly it's the easiest thing to do and not as scary as it sounds.

Shampoo -Burt's Bees - More Moisture Raspberry and Brazil Nut Shampoo
rated 1 of 5
tbabi 1/13/2013 10:16:00 PM

It was drying which is odd for the name being More Moisture. It smelled really weird. It also made my scalp itchy so I just discontinued use. The reason I tried it out is because it's 98.1% natural - silicone, paraben & sulfate free. The conditioner was really thick which is nice but other than that there really are no pros for the shampoo or conditioner.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Summer Fruit

Ya. I don't know what to say about this product. Most people wear lip balm cuz they want the dry lip feeling to be treated but this product only keeps your lips moist if they are already moist :S. It kinda defeats the purpose but if you like lip balms for the sheer fact that it smells good and it has cute packaging, than this is the product to use. But honestly, I wouldn't have tried this as I already have a few favorite lip balms that work for me. I bought this because it says it's 95% organic and 100% natural, paraben & petroleum free I thought wow let's try it out. I like that company's are focusing on that but this product just wasn't good enough for me - especially how expensive it is in Canada seeing that it is just a lip balm. (I'm unsure how much it is now but I remember buying it when it was all the rage and when I saw it in a Canadian store)
