Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Cleansing Gel This product is a slightly better-than-basic foaming cleanser. Nothing more or less. It's labeled for sensitive skin, but it's very foamy. No real smell and rinses clean. Doesn't leave my skin stripped, but slightly tight. Removes all traces of makeup and oil/dirt in one lather. One full pump is really too much as it is fairly thick and lathers well -- especially when applied with a brush, washcloth, whatever, but somehow I ran out through this quicker than expected.
I've been using this moisturizer for about a month and I really like it. My combination skin feels great all day after applying a pea-sized amount in the morning and there's no extra oiliness at the end of the day. It goes on smoothly and feels light; quickly absorbing. There's no smell and the tube lasts a long time since I only need a small amount. It works perfectly under makeup - powder or liquid - without causing any oxidizing or unevenness. I don't suffer from redness, but my skin can be sensitive and this doesn't bother me at all - just feels perfectly hydrated. Strong recommend
Lip Treatments -Nivea - Lip Butter Caramel Cream Kiss
taurusdragonfly 6/4/2013 3:36:00 PM
I'm a big fan of Nivea in general and the kiss of moisture in the deep blue tube is my fave lip product ever. I had to try the caramel cream kiss, but admit it's just a basic lip butter. Smells amazing for the first few minutes on your lips. No taste and the smell doesn't linger. Lightweight and smooth; It moisturizes for a few hours before you want to reapply. It is a bit whitish going on, so it's become my night time lip cream. Just ok...
Eye Makeup Remover -Trader Joe's - Spa 100% Pure Jojoba Oil

Great for removing makeup and leaves my skin glowing! I think it will be too heavy for me to use on my face in the summer, but I loved it in the winter for my combination skin. A little goes a long way and it manages to break down and remove my makeup including eye makeup without bothering my sensitive eyes or clogging my pores. Makeup remover wipes are more convenient, but I recommend Jojoba oil with flat cotton pads instead.
Since I started using this soap with my Clarisonic a few times a week, my blemishes have been healing faster and my skin is smoother and more radiant. It wasn't a miracle worker, but I can clearly see a difference since I tried it. Fantastic for my PMS shiny face! At first I thought it was too drying; it's been a long time since I used actual soap on my face, but my face was not left uncomfortably dry or tight - felt just shy of squeaky clean. It's just right - thorough cleansing enough to remove makeup and oils from the day without causing any dry spots or flakies on my combination skin. I'm not a fan of the smell - the plantain extract reminds me of banana peels - which I don't like, but it's bearable. The black soap scum can get a little gross inside the Clarisonic, but washes away easily enough. The bar holds up well and doesn't hold water and get goopy or slimy in the shower.
Love this stuff. It feels rich but sinks in and leaves my skin smooth and moisturized overnight It has a light smell. I thought it would be too heavy with the shea and cocoa butters, but it totally absorbs and hasn't clogged my pores. Has a little retinol so it works really well with regular exfoliation.
Lipstick -Cover Girl - Queen Collection Rosy Tomorrows
taurusdragonfly 4/26/2013 4:48:00 PM
This lipstick is a sparkly reddish plum - really pretty in the tube. The texture looks rich and opaque in just one swipe although it feels a bit thin and greasy. In the tube it looks shimmery, but on the lips there's a lot of silver glitter in the finish. It fades kinda quickly leaving behind the silver glitter and a slight stain. Has a cotton candy cosmetic smell that doesn't linger. This collection is packaged in bronze square tubes with a true-to-color bottom that clicks nicely to close. I like the look of the tubes although the shiny finish quickly gets finger-print smudged. The finish didn't work for me, but still not bad.
A great bright lippy for fans of blue-based pinks & purples. Love the texture of this lipstick: moisturizing, applies smoothly, slightly sheer, but builds to opaque with a couple swipes. This color is super pretty - a hot mulberry purple on me - and absolutely wearable unlike some popular candy colors. It's not metallic or completely matte - it has a slight sheen. Lasts pretty well and leaves an even pretty stain as it wears off. Packaging is ok - a chrome tube with a bright clear neon orange cap. It's a short base - maybe a half an inch to grab that doesn't strongly click into place, but with such a long cap, I wouldn't worry about it coming off. The sticker on the bottom is true to color. This one is a WIN.
LOVE this lipstick! Teddy Bare is very nicely pigmented, smells like watermelon, and goes on smoothly. The texture is creamy and almost matte and is nearly opaque with one swipe. Feels good on the lips - not drying and stays put - no feathering. I can sink into lines a bit, but doesn't look obnoxious if your lips are moisturized. This color is a brown-toned pink - a really nice nude for darker complexions. Not pasty at all. I feel confident I can pull it off even without lip liner with my deep brown complexion. The square tube is slick & shiny gold with a true-to-color bottom. The top clicks into place so you don't have to worry about it making a mess in your purse. It's kind of a short tube, but priced well.
I wanted more of the Kate Moss line after purchasing #11 & #6, so I gave this rosey mauve a try. Definitely not a typical color for me -- I'm deep brown, so I usually go bold or glossy. But I adore the creamy pigmented formula of these lipsticks and decided to try it anyway. On me, it's too pale pink alone, but it has enough of a hint of caramel to do a pinky nude lip with a brownish liner. It's got a slight shimmer that keeps the paleness from looking chalky. I've topped it with Bigelow's plum mint mentha lip tint and absolutely love that combo. It's not a color I would buy again or really recommend for darker skin tones, but it's overall a good product.
Loving the Kate Moss collection - wish there were more shades I'm into. This shade is a nice deep hot pink with a creamy nearly matte finish. It goes on smelling like cherry at first, color last fairly well, and stays moist and bright. The tops click on tightly and I dig the matte black tube with the red Kate signature and crown.
Color 11 was so grey and dry and ashy looking on this dark brown skinned girl even though it looked like a good match when swatched on the back of my hand. Unfortunately, it made my skin look dusty and every pore was obvious. I tried the next shade up - 12 is the darkest color available and it turns out is a much better match for me. The shades apparently apply differently than they appear in the bottle. It is light and feels weightless and once set blends nearly seamlessly with my skin. The demi-matte finish is a little tricky for my combination skin though: cheeks can look a bit dry while my t-zone looks normal on application. I switch to a more moisturizing moisturizer than usual when I'm wearing it to balance the matte finish in my drier areas. After a long work day, my face still looks pretty good although my t-zone definitely has some shine and there may be some creasing around my mouth. I liked the finish best when applied with a stippling brush. One pump gives me the perfect medium coverage that lasts about 5 hours without primer. Photographs really well and looks natural as it wears. With a primer and/or setting spray, it lasts even better and transfers less. I like the slim tube and haven't had any problems with it leaking and I love that the pump is neat and controllable. I'm not a fan the artificial scent, but it's not lasting or bad. This is my favorite liquid makeup so far by a lot.
finally found my favorite red lip! Total sexy vamp style on my cocoa brown complexion. definitely bold but not too bright. red color is a little brick with a hint of blue tone. goes on creamy and opaque. lasts well with without bleeding - i even wore without a liner the first few times and it wasn't too messy. it has a mostly matte finish but doesn't look dry either. definitely transfers when eating, drinking or kissing, but oh well. the case top clicks on securely so i'm not scared of a red nightmare in my purse. Great price - so worth a try!
Conditioner -TRESemme - Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner
taurusdragonfly 12/18/2012 2:52:00 PM
Gave this a try when it was on sale at my local store after reading a lot of reviews from kinky/curly haired girls that consider it a staple. I've used a few times to cowash and have been really impressed. It is creamy but not thick or heavy. Gives lots of slip for easy detangling. This gave me light, bouncy, smooth hair each time. Worked well with my usual leave-in conditioner and styling products too - no buildup. I really don't notice a scent. For the price, this is a win.
Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain- Rendezvous
taurusdragonfly 12/16/2012 8:42:00 AM
I'm getting into bolder lips and thought I'd give this a try. With my chocolate brown complexion, I absolutely love this orange color. Rendezvous doesn't look coral or pink on me - looks tangerine with a hint of shimmer. The texture is a little odd - creamy, but waxy and semi-sheer. I have to layer and blot and press a bit to get the right finish. not bad although it settled into the lines a bit. Has a slight minty smell at first. I was surprised at how much stain it actually left. I like alone it and I love it topped with Nars Wonder. Bright and bold without being clownish. Its pigmented enough to work on my browner upper lip and pinker bottom lip. It is definitely a summer look, but I'm going to rock this warm glowy look in December anyway.
