Polishes -China Glaze - Sweet Hook

I love this pale lilac. It took 2 coats for complete opaqueness and it's very lovely. I had no issues with streaking or anything. I used it with China Glaze base coat and I've had it on for 4 days and with 2 tiny chips near the tips. The other fingers look like I just put it on. I love it.

Eye Primer -Avon - Eye Shadow Primer
rated 5 of 5

I've been using TFSI for several years and I really liked it but I didn't enjoy the price tag. I tried E.L.F. when I ran out and thought it was just okay. I was making a purchase online and decided to give this one a try since it was only $3.99 on sale. I bought the lightest color which is a great match and actually looks good on it's own.

I will honestly say that this is right on par with UDPP & TFSI. I have tried and used both and this is just as good. When I use this along with either Maybelline's Color Tattoo, a MAC Paint Pot or even Avon's Big Color Eye Pencils, my shadows will last until I take them off at night. I put them on at 7 am and they are still on by 8 pm. It is in a pot like the paint pots or color tattoos and has a mousse like texture. I'm sold on this product. I feel there is no need to spend $20 when I can get this for $3.99. Even at full price I would buy it instead. The only thing I don't like as much is that it is in a pot instead of a tube. I like my primer in a tube (but not in a wand - don't like that either). I will still continue to purchase.

Lipstick -Avon - avon totally kissable
rated 4 of 5
taralynn36 3/19/2013 2:13:00 PM

I have 2 shades, Lovey Dovey Pink and Red Embrace. I first got the pink during a promotion and while I like the color, it is pretty sheer for me. I usually wear it over top a pink liner or Jordana's Lavender Lady matte lipstick for a little more coverage. Then because I expected them all to be a little sheer, I ordered Red Embrace thinking it would be a sheer red coral. It's definitely opaque but a very pretty bright red. It seems to be a neutral warm red to me. I like it a lot although I wanted something sheer. I was looking for a nice opaque red so this will work.

Bronzers -Hard Candy - So Baked Bronzer, Tiki
rated 5 of 5
taralynn36 2/18/2013 8:05:00 PM

I like this highlighter a lot. It's perfect for my NC25/30 skin. It's a little more shimmer than I like for daytime unless I put it on very lightly but it's perfect for a night out. I use my WNW Reserve Your Cabana for day (perfect light "work" glow) and I use Tiki at night. They are basically the same shade but Tiki has more shimmer to it.

Treatments -Avon - ANEW CLINICAL Luminosity Pro Brightening Serum
rated 5 of 5
taralynn36 2/17/2013 5:06:00 PM

I am using this at night in conjunction with the Reversalist Serum during the day and I am getting nice results. My skin is definitely more luminous since using this product and I am seeing slight fading of brown marks.

Most of the poor reviews are coming from the younger set. I can see where this would be too thick for someone in their 20's. I don't think I would have used it then either. But for someone in their 40's or up this works very nicely. I find it perfect for my drier skin which soaks it up. I have experienced no breakouts or other issues.

Eyes -Avon - BIG COLOR eye pencil
rated 5 of 5
taralynn36 2/17/2013 1:58:00 PM

I purchased these years ago and wasn't impressed. Then I purchased two of the Eye Brightening LE that was in the outlet to round up my order so I could get free shipping. I immediately ordered the other Eye Brightening and a couple of the lighter normal versions. I think where I went wrong years ago was that I didn't use a primer. I now use these with a primer and as a base for a matching eye shadow. My shadow lasts all day and looks just as perfect at 6 pm as it did at 6 am. The Eye Brightening LE line is absolutely gorgeous. I have all 4 colors and I love them all. You can frequently get any of these for around $2.99 which is a steal compared to Maybelline Color Tattoo or even a MAC Paint Pot. I have both and I love the Big Color Eye Pencil just as much.

Eyeliner -Jordana - Fabu Liner Liquid Eyeliner Pen
rated 3 of 5
taralynn36 2/10/2013 6:55:00 PM

This is a nice liquid liner and probably the easiest to use of all that I have tried. I have the black and brown as well and I like the color and ease of application. My only beef is that they don't last as long on me as my other eyeliners. My Avon Glimmersticks last longer and my Lucy Mineral eyeliners last all day (when applied wet they look just like liquid eyeliner). I find myself reaching for those instead.

BB Cream -Skin79 - Super+ BB Cream Gold Label
rated 5 of 5
taralynn36 2/8/2013 8:52:00 PM

This is one of the first beauty products I ever ran out of and took apart to get the last little bits. This is the first BB cream I have used and I have to say I am hooked. I have used several tinted moisturizers, PF Healthy Wear and Sonia Kashuk, & Paula's Choice Matte were some of my favorites. The Healthy Wear was my favorite due to the higher SPF but it just never was a great color match. I love the Skin79 because it adjusts better to my skin tone. I just add a dusting of Lucy Mineral's OCC powder and I am good to go with great looking skin.

After running out of this I decided to give the Pink label a try. From what I can see is that the Gold label seems to have more coverage and is thicker. I didn't need a whole lot to cover my face. The Pink is just a little sheerer but I use a little more so I feel I am getting just a little bit more moisture. For me, I think Pink is perfect for summer and Gold is better suited for winter.

I also found out that if you push the nozzle that dispenses the product up, it removes the inner canister and the lid can pop off. That's how I got about another week out of an empty container. You can also see how much is left.

Bronzers -Wet 'n' Wild - Reserve Your Cabana
rated 5 of 5

I am NC25 & I use this as a highlighter. I would have never thought of it until I read the reviews. I found it at CVS for just a couple of bucks. It makes a wonderful soft glow on my cheeks. I'm super impressed.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
rated 5 of 5
taralynn36 1/27/2013 11:09:00 AM

I picked this up on a whim because I decided after several months of just using Skin79 Gold BB cream and Lucy Mineral's powder foundation, I wanted a little more coverage for special occasions. I had been using MUFE HD foundation in 120 but I didn't want to shell out the $44 for something I would only use occasionally. I haven't used a drugstore foundation in awhile and I haven't used a Cover Girl since I used the Clean Oil Control Foundation when I was pregnant 9 years ago. But I saw this had great reviews so I thought I would give it a try. I have to say for 1/4 of the price, this is just as good as the MUFE HD I was using, if not even better. On me, this went on smooth, had great coverage (although my skin is in good shape except for a few small hyperpigmentation spots on one cheek) and it last all day. It did not oxidize on me and stayed natural looking. I am NC25 with yellow undertones and I used Nude Beige which matched perfectly. I picked up Buff Beige and Nude Beige, looked side by side and didn't notice any real difference. I guess Nude may be a hair darker. Now the packaging isn't beautiful but I'd rather save $30 buck over packaging any day.

Mascara -Maybelline - The Rocket Volume Express
rated 5 of 5
taralynn36 1/27/2013 10:37:00 AM

I purchased this in the waterproof version after buying CG Clump Crusher water resistant and it not holding up at all on my lower lashes. I've used every version of Maybelline's waterproof mascaras and I prefer the One by One version over any other. I was going to get that one but the store only had blackest black and I prefer brownish black for my waterproof as I generally only use it on the bottom lashes and I have very light hair. So Rocket was available in brownish black so I picked it up. I'm glad I did because it did a great job. It held up all day with no running or smudging. My eyes can water frequently because of allergies so I always use wp on lower lashes. I have used it on my upper lashes and while it's not quite as good as Jordana's Best Lash Extreme it still is pretty good. I may try the normal version next time I need mascara for my uppers but I'll probably stick with this for waterproof in the future.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher Water Resistant
rated 3 of 5
taralynn36 1/26/2013 10:36:00 AM

I was disappointed in the water resistant version. I know it's not waterproof but I was hoping that it would stand up a little harder to my allergies which sometimes make my eyes water quite a bit. I always use waterproof mascara on my lower lashes and normal on top. On a normal day that's all I need and my last waterproof (Maybelline Falsies) held up all day with my allergies. This one lasted barely an hour. Which disappoints me because it looked so great on my lower lashes. They were very individual and lush. But I had to go out and get another Maybelline waterproof so it would last. I will continue using this on my top lashes though. It doesn't clump at all after two coats and it looks very nice although I noticed the curl didn't hold like other reviewers mentioned. I think most people will like this as a normal mascara but not for a true waterproof, which it doesn't claim to be anyway.

I will buy the normal version of this mascara mostly because they make it in brown and that's so hard to find. So kudos to Cover Girl for making brown mascara!

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
taralynn36 1/26/2013 10:24:00 AM

I've tried a few dry shampoos from Sally's and Suave's other one & this is the one I will buy again likely. It works just as well as the other ones and it's only a few dollars and easily accessible at any drugstore. A lot of reviews complain about the smell but I like it. Plus it's dissipates so quickly that it's not really an issue anyway. I think it smells much better than Suave's original formula anyway. I like the smell of Ion's & Batiste but I have to make a special trip to Sally's to purchase. I can pick this up grocery shopping.

I can see where this might leave a white cast or make hair feel dry but I think this is if you use too much. I use a quick spray on my very light blonde hair (it's dyed with 10V and naturally an 8N) and it's perfect. Now if I'm going for a tousled ponytail look, I use more & it does help blend in my roots with the white powder. I think I'll probably stick with this brand in the future.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Primer Eyeshadow
rated 3 of 5
taralynn36 1/17/2013 8:47:00 PM

This is E.L.F.'s new eyeshadow + primer. I suppose this is their partner to drugstore items such as Maybelline Color Tattoo or Cover Girl's Intense Shadow Blast. It is a primer and shadow in one. Right now they are offering 4 shades at $2 a pop. I have tried 3, Sultry Satin, Misty Mauve, & Coco Loco. I will break down the individual shades below but my overall take on them is that they are okay for $2 but I'd rather spend an extra few buck for Maybelline. My biggest beef is that they dry so amazingly fast that you really don't have time to blend them at all. They dry within seconds literally.

Sultry Satin - a nice champagne color. I'll use it up but I prefer the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded which is extremely similar

Coco Loco - This went in the trash after 2 attempts. A beautiful dark bronze cocoa color but it dries so fast it separates and looks splotchy if you try to blend it.

Misty Mauve - the only color I may buy again but I doubt it. It's a perfect base for Toasted in the original U.D. Naked palette. This is what I use it for.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Benetton Rosso
rated 5 of 5
taralynn36 1/14/2013 9:27:00 PM

I have completely fallen in love with this perfume. I checked out a few fragrance websites, saw the excellent reviews and decided to try a bottle without sniffing. You can get a 3.3 oz bottle for less than $20. It is so well worth it. I can't get over how expensive this smells and the lasting power for so little money. The notes are mandarin, lemon, fruity notes of passionfruit, peony, Arabic jasmine, patchouli, styrax and vanilla. I have seen comparisons to Lancome Hypnose and as a lighter version of Hypnotic Poison. I can see both of these. I sprayed it at 7 am and at 6 pm I can still smell it. I wore it today to school and for the first time I had several compliments on how I smelled so nice. The packaging is less than stellar but the scent makes up for it.
