Fragrances -Kate Spade - eau de parfum

I am one of the MUAers who LOATHED this scent at first whiff. When it first came out, I recall sampling it at Nordstrom and hating it. For some reason, I picked up a bottle at Sephora today and spritzed it on my wrist. My first reaction was regret. However, within five minutes, I began to realize how lovely I smelled. I continued to smell my wrist throughout the store and at the last minute, snatched the bottle off the shelf and added it to my haul.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones that have the right body chemistry for this one. The gardenia gives it a lady-like feel and yet the heady honeysuckle and jasmine are so sensual. Definitely what I will wear this summer!

Lo and behold, this smells identical to an oil I wore for years called China Lily. The difference? CL costs about $8 for a roll-on while Kai is $45.

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze

I have this in the deep gelee and the deep tinted lotion (2 for 1 at Walgreens). I love both! I use the gel on my face, neck and chest and the tinted lotion on my arms and legs. The result is such a lovely BRONZE shade! Not orange, not yellow, not muddy. Everyone who sees me now asks where I have been on vacation!

I am a PPP with light olive skin and dark hair. I use latex gloves to apply it so that there isn't the fear of yammy hands and I can vigorously rub it in for even coverage. I also use a cosmetic wedge to apply to my feet and toes so that it doesn't get blotchy.

One note of caution, the tinted lotion has shimmer in it so I would not use it on your face!

Fragrances -Demeter - Kahala Blue Hawaii

Yum! Just bought this today and I can't stop sniffing myself! Though I have shyed away from Demeter scents in the past because of the reported lack of staying power, I just had to get this one.

Smells like a yummy concoction of pineapple, coconut and other tropical fruits. Though it is named for the drink, I don't detect any boozey notes. The staying power seems decent as well. It is a young scent without making this 30-something feel like a teenager.

Highlighters -Urban Decay - Blackberry
rated 1 of 5

Again, another scent failure from UD. I had really hoped to like this one after being disappointed by their latest offerings. It seems next to impossible to go wrong with a blackberry scent, but they somehow managed to do it. Smells cheap, plastic, and is intensely cloying. Again, color and glimmer are lovely, but the smell is just a disaster.

Highlighters -Urban Decay - Champagne Body Powder
rated 1 of 5

Gah! Doesn't smell like Champagne at all. I recoiled in horror as I sampled it at Sephora. UD started out so well with Red Hot and Cake, but things are just getting worse. As always, the color and shimmer are lovely which is the only saving grace.

Fragrances -Bulgari - Omnia

Just picked this up at Sephora yesterday after trying it a few times. Pros: LOVE the way it smells right out of the bottle! I am normally a Hypnotic Poison wearer, so this actually seemed light to me. Cons: The bottle feels cheap and it seems you don't get a lot for your $67. Hubby HATES it as well. Says I smell like a grandma. It dries down to a very sandalwoody scent on me and I think he reads that as powdery.
Not sure if I will keep it or not.

Highlighters -Urban Decay - Caramel Body Powder
rated 1 of 5

I love UD powders, but IMHO, they have only gotten worse since the original releases of Red Hot and Cake. Carmel smells cheap. There isn't anything warm or appealing about it whatsoever, just a cloying, sickly-fake-sweet smell. The color was lovely and the packaging as cute as ever.

Highlighters -Urban Decay - Gimlet Body Powder

Do you want to smell like green LifeSavers candy? If so, this is the product for you. Absolutely dreadful fragrance. On the upside, the green shimmer powder does look lovely, deadens redness, and the smell seems to fade.

GAK! One whiff of this at Sephora and I knew it wasn't for me. The only thing that smelled worse was the Gimlet powder.

Deodorants -Tom's of Maine - Natural Deodorant
rated 5 of 5

The PERFECT deodorant! I have this in Honeysuckle Rose and it smells wonderful. I love that it is natural, controls odor, and seemingly controls wetness. As strange as it sounds, I love that at the end of the day, I will occasionally get just a hint of pit odor that lets me know that I am not clogging my body with chemicals.

Fragrances -L'Occitane - Verbena
rated 4 of 5

Love this scent! I love lemon/citrus smells and have fond memories of Love's Baby Lemon Scent. This is, by far, more complex than the Love's. Very lemony and green smelling. The drawback is the lack of staying power. I can squirt and squirt this on myself and still not smell it in two hours.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation
rated 4 of 5
tangoedweb 1/31/2004 8:27:00 PM

Pros: Nice texture, doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, great packaging (gotta love the pump), and a little goes a long way. Cons: Pricey and thick (needs to be blended with water or moisturizer). Not sure if I will buy again or not. I don't think that this is my HG foundation, so I will continue to hunt.

Lotions/ Creams -BeneFit Cosmetics - Bathina Sandal Scandal

My feet are so soft! I love everything about this product with one exception: I don't like the minor stickiness after I put it on. Other than that, great scent, works like a dream, and utterly cute packaging!

Wow. Bright. VERY bright. I put a dab on in the store and liked the vibrant, but soft color. When I put it on the next day at work at full intensity, my co-workers looked at me in sheer horror. It's going back.
