Eye Shadow -Rimmel - Colour Rush - 001 Smokey Noir
rated 4 of 5
tango2470 3/22/2013 6:28:00 PM

the ratings on this product are on the OLD Rimmel smokey noir...Rimmel has renewed their line of eyeshadows...with a primer this is a really nice set of shadows. the quad includes: shimmery off white, soft silver, medium dove gray and deep charcoal, perfect for a quick smokey eye. Don't be discouraged by Rimmel's old eyeshadows which were unpigmented....they have stepped up their game :)

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - nonstop glamour

I like this lip gloss so much that I think it deserves a catergory of its own. Its a light nudeish pink creamy shade with some gold shimmer. You can sheer it out for a more natural look or apply more for bold nude/pink lips. Inexpensive and superb quality.

Eye Shadow -Essence - Quattro Eyeshadow To Die For
rated 4 of 5
tango2470 2/1/2013 5:42:00 PM

I got this eyeshadow palette from Essence for 3$. It comes with 4 eyeshadows, a beautiful soft pink beige, taupe, and cream color that are all satin finish, and a matte dark brown. Very pigmented, no fall out and long wearing, this quad is amazing for a natural look or something a little more smokey using more of the brown shade. I love this quad and would definitely buy it again

Lip Gloss -Stila - Seashell lip glaze

Pretty cool toned beige color with some shimmer, but I didn't like the formula. It's super sticky, and not very long lasting, honestly I find much better products for a fraction of the price, I gave this to a friend and will not be repurchasing.

Eyes -Lancome - Color Focus Eyeshadow in Scene
rated 4 of 5

I don't understand the low ratings on this product...perhaps they changed this formula? The eyeshadow I have is a medium, completely matte warm brown. I like to use this in my crease for a natural look, it is nicely pigmented and stays put for many hours. Keep in mind that the color may not suit you if you have warm coloring but I really like it on myself. I won't buy this again simply because I find it too expensive, I have found cheap eyeshadows that are just as good as expensive ones so I'll buy those instead.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Exact Eyelights Quad - Green Eyes
rated 3 of 5
tango2470 1/24/2013 12:57:00 AM

I didn`t apply the eyeshadows how the packaging suggested-I applied it following one of emilynoel83`s tutorials with the darkest shade on the lid, the pink in the crease the pale pink to highlight and the lavender shade on the lower lashline. It looked really pretty. I tried wearing the shadows the other way and was not impressed-it looked like middle school makeup if that makes any sense (candy pink...) I like the darkest shadow in the palette a lot, the lightest is pretty good, the pink you can work with but the lavender shade is pretty much useless unless you use it to top a cream eyeshadow. When I apply this on top of a primer and cream eyeshadow it seems to have decent staying power. I wouldn`t buy it again however because it doesn`t seem worth it to buy an eyeshadow palette just for the sake of one color!

Palettes -Unlisted Brand - The Color Workshop

its pretty much hit or miss with these palettes-some are good quality others aren't. I was very impressed with a light bronzer i recieved in one of these palettes, similar to NYC sunny, the eyeshadows usually aren't very pigmented, but once in a while you will get one that has some color. I found most of the blushes to be sheer, but since they are bright they will show up on most skin tones. The lipsticks are not very good, but if you dab it on lightly on top of lip balm (instead of applying it normally on lips) It looks OK. I used this brand a lot when I was younger because it was affordable, and it's great for beginners. As for someone who wants to do smoky dramatic eyes? This might not work for you, overall I prefer wet n wild.

Lipstick -Elizabeth Arden - lipstick
rated 2 of 5

Since EA is one of the only readily available brands where I live I have tried many of their products. I tried many lipsticks, and the best ones were just OK, the rest were plain awful. They are drying, have strange shimmer and are in tacky colors. EA is the worst brand I have tried, and it tests on animals, I highly reccomend nobody buy from EA.

save your money and buy wet n wild-it`s better quality than EA! If you want to splurge, go to MAC, it puts EA to shame. since elizabeth arden is the only high end brand readily available where I live I`ve tried it many times...and am hugely disapointed. The eyeshadows are poorly pigmented, don`t blend nicely, and aren`t nice colors...They are also very shimmery and did not work for my older firends or me...Honestly the only person I could see using this makeup is a 12 year old...its sheer and the colors are crappy, she may as well use a generic kit! The packaging is OK but not very strudy.

Lip Gloss -Elizabeth Arden - High Shine Lipgloss (All)
rated 1 of 5
tango2470 12/28/2012 7:06:00 PM

Elizabeth arden is hands down, one of the worst brands I have ever tried! I`ve tried this brand a lot because it`s readily available and have tried several of their glosses. The lipgloss didn`t go on evenly, was stick,y, poorly pigmented, and smelled horrible! The colors were nice enough but very shimmery...Elizabeth arden is known as a`brand for more matura women but their products are extremely tacky... The lip gloss was more expensive then Mac, and the packaging was ugly...what a waste of money!

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow - Grege 734
rated 4 of 5

I got a mini palette free with a Dior mascara at SDM (Canada). This palette is quite nice, but not the best I have ever used. Pros: .Silky, no fallout .subtle shimmer .colors blend beautifully . a great color selection (sometimes shadows too similar look muddy) .beautiful packaging Cons: .not very pigmented .extremely expensive These colors are into cool tones natural looks that incorporate grey and brown...otherwise I would save your money and stick to MAC

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Bedazzled Biscotti
rated 2 of 5

I think this is discontinued, as I can't find it anywhere. I tried this when I was 14 and 15, fine for a young girl, adds the slightest hint of color to the eyes, but definitely not one of CGs better products. If you want a good CG eyeshadow, go for their trio in shimmering sands, and skip this. It's a very pale cool toned taupey beige with lots of glitter, its not very pigmented and relatively chalky. Wet n Wild is cheap AND good quality, get their eyeshadow instead :)

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Lavender Smokes Quad #536
rated 2 of 5
tango2470 12/11/2012 10:58:00 PM

I bought this quad after Michelle Phan did a tutorial with it (picture day) and was kind of dissapointed. First of all, I keep hearing people say that L'Oreal is a cheaper brand, but here in Canada, compared to other drugstore brands, its actually somewhat expensive. This cost me nearly 15$ with tax, which could have bougth me three Wet n Wild quads (which work way better). Secondly, the packaging is terrible. It is flimsier than Maybelline and Covergirl quads, and broke almost instantly. I do not expect fancy packaging, but I do expect something that is going to hold up nicely. Thirdly, the color selection is not all that great, If there was one matte shade in the palette I would be happier. Lastly, the pigmentation is very poor, even for drugstore eyeshadows. I am so tired of seeing people put down all drugstore makeup due to a few fail products, because there are plents of good products they simply haven't found. The quad comes with a pretty gold color that is lighter when applied (my favorite shadow in the quad) a dark plum color (this shade is similar to MAC's beauty marked, OK pigmentation) a pink purple shade with no pigmentation, a pale copper gold shade with hardly any pigmentation. This is OK for a beginner to play around with (If you can find it on sale). But otherwise, I am sticking to wet n wild because it is cheaper and better quality.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Eye Trio in Chocolate Mousse
rated 4 of 5
tango2470 12/9/2012 1:47:00 AM

I like this trio for a go to, fool proof, natural eye look with some definition. I reach for this over Covergirl country woods because it has slightly more contrast between the darkest and lightest colors. Maybelline recently reformulated their eyeshadows so if you've tried this previously and weren't impressed, you might like it now. The lightest shade is just light enough to brighten up under my eyebrow, I also like that it is matte, it is nicely pigmented. The second color isn't very pigmented, but OK simply to neutralize the eyelids, and can become more pigmented by layering it over a cream shadow. The darkest shade is a gorgeous, warm, almost rosy brown with a hint of shimmer. I took one lippie off for the lack of pigmentation with the second eyeshadow, otherwise this trio is great!

Other -Unlisted Brand - The Color Workshop
rated 3 of 5
tango2470 9/9/2012 12:31:00 AM

When I first started out with makeup, this brand was my go to. I've had several palettes by them, and I'll review each of them seperately: .The first palette I got for my thirteenth birthday. It had about ten individually potted eyeshadows, three blushes, four lipsticks, five eyeshadows, eyeliners, a lip liner and a mascara. The eyeshadows were okay for a sheer wash of color, the mascara didn't do much in the way of volume but didn't clump, the eyeliner and lip liner didn't last very long, the lip and cheek colors were a bit bright and old fashioned but okay for play makeup, overall a gem for a thirteen year old just starting out with makeup. When I was fourteen I picked up another kit. This one had the eyeshadow, blush and lip colors in complementary colored palettes. The pigmentation was worse then the last palette, but once again suitable for a young girl. I got a lot of wear out of the neutral colors, and even wore then wet for a more natural look. I then bought a kit with a shimmery bronzer, what was supposed to be a highlighter (but used them as eyeshadows) two blushes and a cream bronzer. The only downfall were the blushes that were a bit garish, but the bronzer and eyeshadows worked well. Summing it all up, this is a great buy for beginners, people who want a very sheer wash of color on their eyes, and for teenagers. For an adult who is experienced with makeup I wouldn't reccomend this.
