Fragrances -Stella McCartney - Stella Rose Absolute
rated 5 of 5

I was about to purchase the original Stell when I came across this. I've tried both several times, and this smells very similar but is more intense in terms of having deeper notes and greater lasting power. I've even tried spraying the original on one wrist and this on the other one, and this definitely outlasted the original. Love it. I think I've found my signature scent.

Misc Beauty Tools -Shiseido - Eyelash Curler

Okay, I've tried both this and Shu's version, and I have to say I overwhelmingly prefer this curler. IMHO, Shu's is for bigger more deep set eyes, and seeing as I don't have big deep set eyes, the curve and size of the Shiseido curler is a better fit. Shiseido's version also allows you to replace the rubber pads - a big plus for me.

Masks -DDF - Sulfur Therapeutic Mask [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

I have to agree with all the reviewers. This stuff is great! I leave it on for about 10 minutes, and it really reduces the severity of occasional breakouts. I've tried other sulfur products like Murad's spot treatment, and I think they're really effective on non-sensitive skin types. Just don't put too much on because they can be a bit drying.

Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - Foundation Brush #43
rated 4 of 5

Before I tried this, I thought I didn't like foundation brushes. But Trish's brush totally changed my opinion! The bristles are very fine and smooth, making it a cinch to apply liquidy foundation. It feels so nice on your face and gives you a seamless look. I've tried both Presriptives' and Paula Dorf's brushes to no avail. The bristles on both are not as fine, making it more suited for creamier foundations, IMO. I also like that Trish's brush isn't as dense as other foundation brushes so it doesn't soak up all your foundation. The only thing I would change about it is to make the head a wee bit shorter for better control.

Lip Liners -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Lip Liner- Petal
rated 4 of 5

I'm glad BB came out with this pale pinky nude lipliner for her spring 2003 collection. MAC's Spice and LM's Chestnut, as well as BB's Nude and Nude Pink, are too dark against my fair complextion, but this is more beige than brown - the perfect MLBB (and somewhat different) shade for my fair, cool skintone. My only gripe is the hefty $20 pricetag.

Highlighters -NARS - Multiples
rated 2 of 5
tammysl 1/16/2003 3:49:00 AM

I jumped on the bandwagon and got these in Cannes, a bronzey rose, and Malibu, a mauvey pink. But IMHO, they didn't live up to the hype. They're too drying for the lips, and I found the cream-to-powder formula harder to blend than a creamier product like Stila's Convertible Color. The shimmer also emphasized my large pores. The Multiple would be an okay product if it was the price of most department store blushes, but at $33 a pop, I will definitely not repurchase.

Blush -Stila - Convertible Color Magnolia
rated 4 of 5

This is a muted mauve with brown undertones that pairs nicely with dramatic lips or smoky eyes. My only quibble is that you have be a bit heavy-handed to get the color to show.

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Deep Clean Gentle Scrub
rated 5 of 5

I'd definitely recommend this to all those who have very oily skin and occasional blemishes. I only use it on my forehead and chin, because it makes the skin on my nose flaky, and it's really helped to clear up and soften those areas of my face.

Treatments (Eye) -Almay - Kinetin Rejuvenating Eye Treatment
rated 3 of 5
tammysl 11/9/2002 2:13:00 AM

I've been using this for about 3 months now and while it moisturizes my eye area effectively, I haven't noticed any dimunition of my fine lines. I keep waiting for a miracle, since other ladies seem to have success with it, but I don't think it's coming.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear in Shy Beige
rated 5 of 5

I always use this to tone down really dark or bright liners and lippies. It's not sticky and gives great shine and moisture. I will definitely repurchase when I run out.

Makeup Brushes -Shu Uemura - #10 Handy Nylon Brush

I use this as a concealer brush, and it makes blending near the lashline and corner of my eyes a lot easier. Overall a fantastic brush that's just the right size.

Blush -NARS - Desire
rated 5 of 5

I balked when the MA at Neiman's suggested this blush for me, because it looks so bright in the package. But don't be scared. It's actually a very natural and playful pink. Just a a little bit adds a lot of oomph to my cool toned coloring, meaning it'll last a long time. I also discovered this is what Lara Flynn Boyle usually wears on The Practice, and I love her look.

Lip Gloss -Laura Mercier - Ambre Rose Glace
rated 5 of 5
tammysl 10/19/2002 2:23:00 AM

After reading all the raves, I ran out to try this and bought it on the spot. It's a lovely shade of rose and bronze with tiny specks of gold shimmer that makes my lips look natural yet enhanced and prettier.

Lip Gloss -Kiehls - Lipgloss
rated 5 of 5
tammysl 10/15/2002 3:01:00 AM

I bought this in Peach Pearl, and it's the prettiest peach colored lippie I've found. IMO, it looks more like a liquid lipstick than a gloss because it's very pigmented, but I always use just a dab for more of a sheer look. It also goes great with my Nars Orgasm Blush!

Powder -LORAC - Oil-Free Wet/Dry Makeup
rated 5 of 5
tammysl 10/14/2002 10:40:00 AM

This is an oil-free and yellow-based powder foundation. A Nars MA actually suggested it to me because it's what she uses! Now I wear it practically everyday. It covers like a sheer foundation and does a good job of making my pores less visible. Plus, it matches my yellowish tone and hasn't caused any breakouts. Try it! You'll like it!
