Powder -Alima - Satin Matte Mineral Foundation
tamespy 6/10/2012 2:39:00 PM
This is the best acne treatment and makeup I have ever used. My case of cystic acne only responds to minerals - mineral makeup and sulfur. I also have sensitive skin and this does not irritate. I LOVE Alima Pure's mineral makeup best. It washes clear with my normal cleanser and does not clog pores -- no special removal technique needed. And it absolutely kills cystic acne before it even starts. Sigh. That is the absolute best; anybody who's battled cystic acne knows what I'm talking about. Now about its performance as makeup. For me -- Coverage is light to medium, but as the day wears on ... the makeup wears out. LOL BUT somehow the evenness of my skin is maintained. Let me say it like this ... My acne scars are visible through the makeup and as the say wears you can still see them (maybe even see them a little more clearly). BUT the unevenness of my skin is not apparent -- I mean the changes in lightness/darkness of the unblemished skin. I kind of like that because as the day wears on my makeup looks more like my skin -- only better. For me this is perfect because I don't like the makeup look. I could kiss them for all the color choices and accessory items they've created to go with the foundation. And a genius decided to sell samples to figure out the right colors and combinations. My color is so odd and coupled with living in a humid area ... it was an adventure to find the right colors for primer, foundation and finishing powders. I'm so happy with my choices. They have a customer for life in me. Note: I was not happy with the effect when I first used their products because as the day wore on the colors turned muddy gray. I realized it was the primer powder. I read someone's review on here that said just stick with it and things will improve. I changed the color I was using, which helped a bit. I figured it wasn't breaking me out so I'd wait and see. And eventually my skin meshed with the primer and by end of day the color change looked like my skin but better. I'd the height of Summer, so I blot once or twice a day. But it's not that incredible oil slick that it was and the color is still true.

Skincare - Face -Jurlique - Ultra-Sensitive Essentials Kit (trial size)
tamespy 7/17/2011 10:34:00 AM
I'm loving Jurlique products! I purchased the full sizes of the trial size products. Within 1 week the rash on the side of my eyes disappeared! The rash was compliments of another company's product. I had an allergic reaction and then my skin rejected my normal cleanser. I'm not allergic to Jurlique's ingredients or any "family" of the ingredients. Thank God. I actually purchased their products because these are ingredients that I know my skin likes. The acne and clogged pores got worse! Aaarg! And now they're getting better. I definitely went through that 2 weeks of purging. I know because everything breakout I had healed. New ones cropped up and disappeared and now I have a small batch that cropped up and are calming. It's not a miracle worker, but I see improvement every day. Also, I know that I have to use masks. That was a fact before Jurlique and it's still a must for me. I have to purify with masks several times a week in addition to the daily regimen. I really like Jurlique for the daily because it does not irritate me. It seems to be healing my skin. And my skin has not been this soft in decades. Plus my face smells so delicious! Can't wait for my husband to get back in town to see/smell the results. A little goes a long way. It's expensive as hell, but I'm only using 1 -2 squirts of products. It'll definitely last months. Except the mists. They're so refreshing that I use 4-5 pumps. Not totally reformed from over-application yet. ;D Patting is the key to their products. I've been using their products for about a month. Will update. So far so good. I'm pleased and will definitely continue to use these products. 1/21/12 Update - Still use this line.Love it and it still works for me. My breakouts are caused by environmental triggers. These products keep my skin calm and heals it quickly and gently. The larger bottles last 6 months, except the toner spray -- but I knew that. The purifying mask and blemish cream are great. Will update you again. 5/24/12 Updated Again - This line saved my skin -- it fixed my sensitivity. But it didn't clear my acne so I kept looking. Also, the cleanser didn't clean deeply enough. I still have product, but don't reach for it often. Again, I think it did what it was meant to do -- fix the sensitivity. I use different that address my acne and environmental triggers. I want to give my current regimen several more months before mentioning them. So far so good. They're not out of left field; I'm still listening to my skin.

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Original Moisturizing Lotion

Edited 6/2011: Stopped using as face/neck moisturizer. Developed a rash near eyes/upper check. Both sides of my face. Also stopped using AmLactin and BP face wash. Skin is too sensitive and cannot take it! So far so good. I use this as a facial and neck moisturizer. Because I'm so acne-prone, I add a few drops of this and tea tree in the palm of my hand and mix them together. Then apply to freshly wash, toned face. I follow with AmLactin 5 and sunscreen. Skin seems happy so far, which is not easy to accomplish -- it's really sensitive and reactive. What I like best is that my skin is not oily anymore, but it has a nice sheen. And it seems like the skin barrier is being repaired. If I continue to have good results, I will give another lippie.

Cleansers -Derma E - very clear problem skin cleanser
tamespy 1/20/2011 1:25:00 PM
Ok so the moisturizer is the my holy grail of moisturizers. That said ... the cleanser is so-so. The scent ... well .. I had to grow up. It's better to smell tea tree for less than an hour than to have acne 24-7. I don't wear makeup, but don't feel like it's working my acne/pore/dirt/bacteria issues out as well as I need. I used 2 bottles of this and had the same feeling from start to end. I use it, but I'm still searching. Doesn't irritate my eyes or skin, and it doesn't bleach my clothes. I can say that it doesn't contribute to breakouts. But it also doesn't quite do it for me. I used a cleanser that was my face's best friend, and that's what I'm comparing this cleanser to. (I'm allergic to mail-order products when I should be able to purchase everything in my city.) Until the other cleanser is available in my city, I'll probably use this cleanser. It's not bad, but it's not the greatest.

Moisturizers -Derma E - Clear Skin 3 (Problem Skin Moisturizer)
tamespy 1/20/2011 1:09:00 PM
LOVE THIS MOISTURIZER! It dents my pocketbook, but it works! I have acne and this in my regimen keeps me 99% clear -- skin loves tea tree. Works better than dermatologist regimen. My goal is to have skin so beautiful I don't need makeup. This keeps my skin clear and makes me look like I'm wearing makeup. Seriously! My oily and dry parts are more balanced all day. I have acne and extreme combination skin. Throw in ultra sensitive skin and eyes. This doesn't irritate me. The tea tree smell only lasts about an hr. I don't mind. DH loves clear skin, so doesn't mind tea tree, ya know?! Word to the wise -- make sure your hands/nails are impecably clean and don't double dip in the container. A little really does go a long way. I can cake this on any part of my face/neck with no problm, but it will buld up around my nose if I'm too heavy handed there. Even then I don't get breakouts; I just have to unclog the pore with a q-tip and pressure. Around my eyes get a little dry using this, so I dab a little jojoba under/around my peepers. Bottom line -- this is how my face is supposed to look/act/feel. EDIT: It clogs the pores around my nose; have to press/extract a few times a week. Eeck! And I got a bad batch. It smelled weird, almost spoiled. I don't use anymore.
