Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 5 of 5

My go-to top coat! Dries fast and shiny :). Makes doing my nails on a regular basis easier. Two qualms: 1) The tendency to cause shrinkage with some polishes. Not a big deal-- I just use ones from Essie or Deborah Lippmann for those (which work just as well, but Seche Vite dries the fastest!). 2) A bottle gets goopy and difficult to use about halfway. I have used Seche Restore, but it never fully "restores" the polish. I end up buying a new bottle anyway.

Top/Base Coats -China Glaze - Strong Adhesion Base Coat
rated 5 of 5

Currently my HG base coat. A little about my nails: I'm a regular painter; no peelies or ridges (pretty healthy); I'm not that conscious about my hand activity though I keep my nails at an average length, so they're not high maintenance. I've been through a couple bottles. Seems to do what it's supposed to do. If I ever have any problems with a particular polish, I usually end up switching the top coat and that usually solves the issue. Base seems to dry fast and I haven't had staining since I've used this!

Moisturizers -L'Occitane - Rice Ultra-Matte Face Fluid
rated 3 of 5

I got a travel size to try on my combination skin that tends to get more oily in the summer. It does what it claims to do-- mattify and absorb oil. It is also velvety and and ultra light, but perhaps too light for my skin. I feel this product is suitable for REALLY oily skin (and I thought my skin was oily ...). Packaging-wise, I like that it is in a pump.

Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Dream Curls
rated 4 of 5

I have nothing to compare this product to as this is the only product I've used since I got my hair permed, but so far I can say I'm happy. For better control, I spray this on to my hands then run through my hair. My curls unravel beautifully as it dries throughout the day without being frizzy. I wash my hair every 2 days so for a pick me up, with damp hands, I run my fingers though my hair. Would definitely repurchase. Plus, it smells good (according to people around me).

Polishes -Laura Mercier - Caviar Dreams

This isn't your generic black. It has a wonderful green sheen when reflected in light. Very pretty. This polish applies very well, and dries smooth and shiny. It also lasts fairly long without chipping.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Style Minx Lipglass - Heatherette

Fabulous! Love the fierce packaging. The gloss color is an amazing fuchsia. I don't do bright colors, but in moderation works so I have an excuse :P.

BB Cream -Skin79 - Lovely Girl BB Cream
rated 2 of 5
szie 1/3/2009 7:45:00 PM

On front of tube: "It is the multi functional blemish balm and an essential cosmetic for juniors." "It has special skin care properties which is soothing, redness, irritated skin even coverage." I have yet to have a BB cream that claims to have ~healing~ properties to actually work. I don't hate this BB cream... I just don't find it suitable for my needs. The coverage is sheer and I need something more. The scent is kind of hard to describe. My sister claims it smells like pear (and she likes it), whereas I find it off-putting somewhere between soapy fresh and generic cosmetic. This BB cream gives a glow, yet not oily. It controls oil pretty well. The shade is yellowish gray, not that it matters because this product is sheer, sheer, SHEER. Maybe if I had better skin I would have liked it more.

Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - tweezers
rated 5 of 5

What more can I say? These tweezers are awesome, seriously. It is a little pricey (what put me off from buying it), but totally worth it now that I have it. I'm looking into getting mini ones for my bag.

Polishes -MAC - Kid Orange
rated 2 of 5
szie 10/23/2008 3:37:00 PM

I bought this mainly for its bold color (in the bottle). This is a creamy orange based red... which, unfortunately, does not look well with my golden undertone. It goes on average, and 2 layers are decent to coat your nail. I bought this at the CCO so I'm not regretting that much, but, please, don't buy nail polishes from MAC if you want quality.

Polishes -OPI - You Don't Know Jacques!
rated 5 of 5

A great fall color, very sophisticated! It looks like a mushroomy, mousy, brown tinged gray in the bottle; on it is very flattering on my NC25-30 skin. Two coats were enough for my taste. No problems with application. Dried down with a nice gloss. Will definitely repurchase if I can!

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
rated 3 of 5
szie 7/27/2008 10:35:00 PM

It's a hit or miss with this product. Sometimes it seems to work well with my skin and sometimes it makes it worse. When it does work, I can feel the mask tightening my skin and my skin feels clean when I wash it off. Occasionally, the mask will result in dry skin and enlarged pores on me. I find it best to use this mask when your skin is acting up or extra oily and when they say leave it on for 15 minutes, it is best to leave it on just that or less. Out of desperation I used a bit for spot treatment overnight after reading reviews and although it wasn't miraculous healing, I found my problem spots less inflamed and smaller. As others mentioned, the packaging isn't the best. Some will fly out when you're squeezing the tube. There's a lot of product in one tube so it's a good buy.

Polishes -Milani - Electric Pink
rated 4 of 5
szie 7/12/2008 12:10:00 AM

Was looking for a fun summer color and came across this. It's a deep hot pink in the bottle. When applied, it dries down matte so you need a top coat for this. I needed about 2-3 coats. My initial reaction to the color when applied was that it looked like I painted with a highlighter... not a bad thing necessarily, but not what I usually wear.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Lipgloss with Mega Shine Tea Rose
rated 5 of 5
szie 7/5/2008 6:51:00 PM

This lipgloss is lavender with silver shimmer in the tube. When I put it on, it's a soft pink and the silver shimmer bits are barely visible. It has that artificial cherry scent (think cherry Dum-Dums), which I personally don't mind, but disappears when you put it on. I like the long angled applicator. The packaging is great. I like how it clicks when you close it so you know it is shut. Overall, I will buy it again, but this tube will probably last me a while.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Lipgloss with Mega Shine - Beige
rated 4 of 5
szie 7/5/2008 5:07:00 PM

Like others have said, contrary to its name, the lip gloss is a shade of light nude pink. There is no shimmer, it is a cream. The lip gloss has that artificial cherry scent (think cherry Dum-Dums), which I personally don't mind, but disappears when you put it on. I like the long angled applicator. The packaging is great. I like how it clicks when you close it so you know it is shut. This is a good everyday color and also great for toning down other bold lip colors, but I won't be repurchasing because the color is easily replaceable.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - Long handled Kabuki
rated 4 of 5
szie 7/3/2008 2:29:00 AM

Hmm... I don't know how to start. I don't hate this product nor do I love it. It's more of a "I don't have much use for you" kind of thing. My go-to brush for mineral foundation is the EDM Flat Top brush, which I can say I love, love, love. I tried using this brush for all over powders, but I realized I prefer a bigger brush to cover more space at a lesser time and movement. The brush itself is soft and dense. No shedding, and dries pretty fast. I, personally, would not purchase again, but I wholeheartedly recommend this to people who prefer the coverage of a kabuki brush.
