I LOVE this lipgloss. The color is divine (especially when applied sheerly) on my pale, cool-toned self. I love the buildable quality of the gloss, the deep pigmentation, and the yummy scent. I got this 75% off at CVS and am going back to stock up before they're all gone. The purpley/berry color is like my lips but better and can be combined with many combinations of eye makeup and blush color. I can't recommend this enough, especially if you're cool-toned.
I bought a back-up of this eyeshadow today. It is the smoothest, most natural cream-colored, matte eyeshadow I've ever tried. It blends like a dream and serves as the perfect base for all my eyeshadows, or I love it alone for my "natural" days. I also use it, thanks to the suggestion of a previous reviewer, on top of my concealer underneath my eyes to create that "well-rested" effect; I was afraid I would be too pale to use it that way, but it works perfectly. It's a must-have in my bag.
Lipstick -Cover Girl - Cover Girl TruShine in Lavender shine [DISCONTINUED]
swinginthelobby 10/9/2007 11:28:00 PM
I think I can now stop searching for my perfect MLBB lipstick. This color barely heightens my naturally pink-mauve-ish lips and adds a touch of shine and moisture. I love it. The packaging could definitely be improved, but for the price tag I won't complain. I will absolutely repurchase when I run out, as this has become my go-to lipstick!
Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Midnight Blue
swinginthelobby 8/8/2007 7:23:00 PM
I love the color of this eyeliner. It wears similarly on me to MAC fluidliners (which I love), but I like HIPs color better because of the metallic element. I wore this paired with bronzey-orange eyeshadows and it wore well on my lid, but faded mid-way through the day on my waterline. I will continue to wear it on my lid, but I'm not sure I will purchase any other colors from HIPs line of fluidliners dupe because of the waterline limitation.
I got a large sample of this in a swap. I lovelovelove the color. It suits my brown eyes and pale (cool-toned) skin better than I ever expected. I love wearing this blended with Teal and Steel Blue pigments, with Lemon in the inner corner blended in. It's a lovely shade and is an unexpected highlight color that I will reach for over and over. Downside: I feel like I cannot wear it alone and many days I'm a one-shadow only girl due to time constraints. I wish that it was a bit more flexible solo. Overall though, I will try to swap for, or purchase, more if I use up what I currently have.
Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Shinylicious in Berry Exotic
swinginthelobby 8/8/2007 7:17:00 PM
This is my favorite lipgloss of the summer (and I've tried *many*)! It's a slick, non-sticky gloss with relatively impressive staying power. I love the scent of it -- the smell alone is enough to make me want to reapply! The color however, it also a contributing factor. It's a sheer reddish color in the tube but goes onto my slightly pigmented lips nearly clear. I love the hint of color that it gives my lips, but this is definitely not for the girls looking for any real pigment in their gloss. I am a fan and will repurchase if I run out while Maybelline still produces it!
Mascara -Rimmel - Magnif'Eyes Eye Magnifier Eye Opening
swinginthelobby 7/10/2007 11:06:00 AM
I'm on my third tube of this mascara, and I love it! It makes my lashes super-long and helps thicken them. It clumps somewhat easily, but I have found that problem to be more due to application issues rather than specific formulas of mascara, so I can work against it. It's a bargain at about $5 at Wal-Mart and sometimes cheaper when it's buy one, get one at the drugstores. Rimmel has been making some surprisingly good mascaras lately, but this one tops them all for me.
Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Juice - Pink Grapefruit
swinginthelobby 5/7/2007 2:12:00 PM
I love this color. It's a pretty, sheer, pearly pink on my lips, and helps tone down some of my natural pigmentation into a pale, baby pink. It's super-versatile and was cheap because I got it at the Walgreen's buy one, get one free sale. I love the packaging of these. I also think that these are an excellent value for how long they last, but I will repurchase when I run out.
Lip Gloss -Revlon - Midnight Swirl Lipgloss in Sassy Sangria LE
swinginthelobby 5/7/2007 12:40:00 PM
I love this color, a deep raspberry, and the applicator. Yes, it was expensive for a DS lipgloss, but I would purchase it again just for the feel of it (slightly sticky, but with enough slip to apply easily).
I ordered this after lemming it for a long time, and then reading all of the positive reviews on MUA. I am a pale brunette with mostly cool undertones. So far, I LOVE this stuff. Everyone is right about the amount -- I just barely touch my SK powder brush to the surface of the powder and then blend it into my cheeks. However, after blending, I usually do it again in order to get that pop of color on the apples of my cheeks. I also used my finger to put some on my lips and covered it with a clear gloss -- perfection. This was my first NARS blush, and undoubtedly, will not be my last. Also -- I would repurchase this glowing blush, but because of how little it takes to achieve the desired affect, I can't imagine ever having to!
I cannot say enough good things about this cheekstain. The color is a beautiful, sheer watermelon pink. The scent is divine and the staying power is always impressive. I find that I have to take my time in applying this color because even though I'm a PPP, it often takes a few layers to achieve the color I want. Overall, I would purchase this again, though I can't imagine how long it will take me to use this tube up!
I love this product! I'm a PPP and it only takes a dab to make my skin glow. It's a gorgeous red color, without being too warm for me. I love the compact it comes in, and it takes so little to apply that I'm confident it will last for a long time. I also love this on my lips with some gloss over it. Definitely a staple in my makeup bag.
Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze Gelee in medium deep
swinginthelobby 3/19/2007 9:27:00 PM
I really like this product. I'm a PPP and one application gives me a healthy, golden glow. I still need to perfect my application method because despite exfoliating and (what I thought was) careful application, I still have a couple of splotches and missed spots. I may take the idea from a previous poster of using gloves because this stuff stained my hands badly even though I washed them after! However, the color payoff is worth it. I dried quickly (though NOT "rapidly") and left my skin feeling smooth. I also thought the smell was rather nice, not at all horrible like some. I would purchase this again, I just hope it's not being DC'ed because I can't find it at some stores...One final note: I love the packaging of this because I can see exactly how much I have left!
Eyeliner -Prestige - waterproof/automatic eyeliner in "lightning"
swinginthelobby 3/10/2007 3:25:00 PM
I really like this color, but it has more blue in it than I was hoping for. I don't think that the color of the packaging is an accurate reflection. However, it has good staying power (over my Urban Decay Primer Potion) and I use it enough that I would buy it again, I think.
I'm a cool-toned, pale brunette and love this blush. It looks garish in the package, but after blending with my Sonia Kashuk blush brush I was surprised at how pleased I was with it. It's a lovely bright pink with no shimmer but can be blended to look more natural or just brushed on lightly with minimal blending for a more dramatic look. I also love the quilting on the top but the package feels really cheap, I'm afraid I'll drop it on my tile floor and break it; but for as little as it cost it would be easy to replace!
