Candles -Yankee Candles - Christmas Cookie
sweetnsnooty 11/20/2009 6:52:00 PM
Sweet, delicious, freshly baked Christmas cookies - that's what this candle smells like. I burn it in my dining room and my house smells as if there is a sweet treat baking in the oven. Throw is quite strong, I originally had it in my bedroom and it was just too sweet smelling in there. Will repurchase for sure, yum!

Candles -Yankee Candles - Nutcracker

Awesome holiday fragrance, somewhat fresh and very festive. Not overpowering and not too light. I detect a slight hint of pine, bayberry and citrus. Definitely a keeper and back-up worthy!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Cool Citrus Basil Splash
sweetnsnooty 11/11/2009 4:56:00 PM
Fresh and invigorating, wakes me right up on those lazy mornings. My favorite combo is the body lotion and splash. The lotion smells pretty strong when first put on, but it's a nice, fresh smell, not at all overpowering. There's nothing out there that smells quite like Cool Citrus Basil - I find that products which contain citrus of any kind are too overloaded with the citrus ingredient and that's all that I end up smelling.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Lavender Vanilla
sweetnsnooty 11/11/2009 3:01:00 PM
I do not like the smell of lavender on its own but with vanilla mixed in...mmm, divine! What a relaxing, soothing and calming fragrance this is, I just can't get enough! When lit, this candle smells like lavender sprinkled with vanilla, just enough to where the lavender is not overpowering. If you decide to get this candle, make sure to get the 2-wick jar, as the throw is a lot stronger. At first, I bought the large 1-wick jar and ended up returning it because I couldn't smell anything! The sales girl sold me on the 2-wick candle and am I grateful that I listened to her - I bought back-ups as well, just in case.

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Sheer Infusion Body Lotion
sweetnsnooty 11/11/2009 2:54:00 PM
I will not be purchasing this lotion again because since I bought this, I discovered Olay's Quench Plus Age Defying body lotion, which I prefer. Sheer Infusion is quite pricey, but only a small amount of lotion is needed; otherwise, it gets greasy and my hands feel "dirty". I don't mind the smell of this lotion, which to me smells like your average drug store lotion, some call it plastic-like. I got the "Botanical Blend" - the lotion is not so much moisturizing as it is smoothing and really, it's nothing special. Fancy name + fancy bottle = fancy price.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Vanilla Cupcake
sweetnsnooty 11/11/2009 1:53:00 PM
The reason I said that I would not buy this product again is because vanilla is very popular and there are soooo many candles to pick from that smell like yummy vanilla. Vanilla cupcake smells like...well, vanilla cupcake: sweet and sugary. Throw was excellent in my medium-sized bedroom - I burnt a medium jar. This particular fragrance does get "boring" after a while, maybe because it's so heavy sweet and, I'm afraid, to sensitive noses it may be a bit too strong.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Sage & Citrus
sweetnsnooty 11/11/2009 1:42:00 PM
I remember picking this up last year and returning it for some reason. Come this fall, I picked it up again and I love, LOVE it! Citrus & sage is the candle I burn when I feel stressed, anxious. I find this fragrance calming, peaceful. The citrus in this sage/citrus combo is not overpowering at all, as I find with most fragrances that contain citrus. This is the candle I would love to smell while getting pampered at a spa.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Black Amethyst Shower Gel

Musky, woodsy, manly, divine, a bit perfumey. Lathers up well, and I also use it as bubble bath - it makes my entire bathroom smell soooo good!

Candles -Yankee Candles - Lakeside Birch
sweetnsnooty 10/22/2009 6:07:00 PM
Pleasant fragrance at first sniff out of the jar; however, when lit - I smelled nothing. I had this candle burning in my bedroom for a couple of hours and could not smell a thing - might as well have had nothing burning.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick - Rose & Shine
sweetnsnooty 4/1/2009 12:03:00 PM
I guess I expected a better color payoff. Rose & Shine is a perfect name for this lipstick; however, the color is a lot lighter on lips than it appears in the tube. I like that this lipstick is unscented - a major plus. While this lipstick is not drying, I expected it to be more moist. I don't like waste and I'll use this lipstick up, but I will not repurchase because of so many other options that the cosmetics market has to offer.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Swirl Candle - Very Berry (Sweet Strawberry & Buttercream)
sweetnsnooty 11/24/2008 11:16:00 PM
Very Berry sure was promising! Unlit, it smelled of delicious sweet strawberries and buttercream, yum, such a sweet combo. The swirl colors were attractive: red and white. I couldn't get home fast enough to light my new candle. I waited an hour...nothing. Another hour went by and all I could smell was wax and a hint of artificial strawberry. As the hours went on, the fragrance never improved. Very Berry turned out to be a very stinky candle, nothing but burning wax, ew. This fragrance was a limited edition, I suspect that it may have been a left-over from Valentine's Day, judging by the colors and the sticker on the jar. I thought I'd write a review anyway, in case this fragrance makes a comeback or if it's found somewhere and people are looking for at least some input before they decide to buy. I'd say, skip this one for sure. Yankee Candle has some great products out there but Very Berry is not one of them.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Yankee Candles
sweetnsnooty 11/24/2008 11:05:00 PM
As I write this review, I sit here in my bedroom filled with the aroma of Vanilla Cupcake, my newest Yankee Candle. I feel as if I'm surrounded by vanilla cupcakes, it smells delicious! I find that Yankee Candles are hit or miss. Some fragrances have great throw while others are super light. I recently purchased a candle which smelled super yummy cold but once lit, all I smelled was nasty wax, yuck. Back to the store the candle went. For reference, that candle was a swirl in "Very Berry", a mix of sweet strawberry and buttercream. I love going to the Yankee Candle store, even if I'm just window shopping. The colors and fragrances are addicting and oh so inviting, delicious, refreshing or rejuvenating -- depends what it is that you're into. The candles are quite pricey at $24.99 for the large jar; however, they do last a long time and Yankee Candle often has specials, sales or coupons floating around. Also, Yankee Candle will exchange or take back a candle even if it's already been lit. The jars are not the most stylish things out there but I feel that they are practical and easy to handle. The glass lid stays put, unlike some sloppy metal tops (Slatkin & Co., to name one). The Yankee Illuma-lids are great accessories, they really do make the wax in the jar melt down evenly and prevent black build-up on the jar. I recently picked one up at Bed Bath & Beyond on sale for $7. Of course, you're not obligated to buy this accessory, just make sure that you trim the wick on a regular basis and that will prevent soot from forming on the jar. Like I said, Yankee Candles are hit or miss, but I'm giving Yankee a rating of 5 because they have an excellent return/exchange policy, so your money doesn't go down the drain if you're unhappy with the product.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Tart in Lemon Lavender
sweetnsnooty 11/21/2008 2:03:00 PM
I was surprised to learn how little throw this tart had. After warming the tart for nearly two hours, I could barely smell it in my large living room. A strong scented candle usually fills my living room right up -- that's when I decide whether or not I will be buying the candle in the large jar. I'm afraid that this one will not be it. I haven't excluded Lemon Lavender entirely, I may give it a try again, maybe in a smaller room or in the bathroom but right now I'm exploring Yankee's other fragrances. I usually shy away from lavender fragrances because I find lavender to be sharp and overwhelming. That's where the lemon steps in here to calm it down, nice combo. I love the lavender and lemon put together as it creates a lightly citrusy yet sweet fragrance with a hint of lavender. I just wish that the aroma were stronger but for someone who likes a light throw, this may be a great buy.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Coconut Bay
sweetnsnooty 11/21/2008 1:43:00 PM
I owned Coconut Bay for just a few days and ended up exchanging it for another fragrance because the throw was too light. I wanted my small bedroom to smell of exotic coconut but the fragrance that the medium-sized candle produced was that of a faint powdery whiff of stuffy coconut. While the fragrance was barely detectable, whatever I smelled was too sweet and I believe that a large candle may have been too sickly overwhelming for my small room but at the same time not strong enough to enjoy in a larger area.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Sparkling Angel
sweetnsnooty 11/21/2008 1:31:00 PM
I purchased Sparkling Angel at the 2007 Christmas sale at Yankee Candle and have just scraped the leftover wax to use on my tart burner. The fragrance of Sparkling Angel was truly nothing special, though it was fresh and pleasant. Another light and fresh candle from Yankee. While I burnt this candle, my house smelled fresh and sparkling clean. The throw was light in my large living room. The wax melted unevenly but I have since purchased Yankee's Illuma-lid and I find that this little gadget truly does work -- it makes the wax melt down clean and evenly, no residue on the jar! I will not repurchase Sparkling Angel only because there are so many other "clean" fragrances out there to choose from but if you're looking for a slightly different and new fragrance to make your house smell fresh and clean, give Sparkling Angel a try. I was just at the Yankee Candle store and saw that Sparkling Angel made a comeback this Holiday Season.
