Blush -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster™ Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in rose

I quite like this blush. It does not look powdery, smells pretty nice, and is a pretty shade of true pink. It fades a bit throughout the day. The shimmers give a nice glow and the pigmentation is good in that you won't get too much blush on the first sweep but you can definitely build up. One thing I've noticed is that a couple of the colors (such as the lightest pink) have more pigmentation than the rest, so that you are never sure whether the color will show on the place where you put your brush or whether it will apply evenly. I don't really scrutinize my cheeks after i put on the blush, so i don't find the "unevenness" noticeable at all. it's pretty easy to work with the blush. it hasn't made me breakout at all and the packaging is really pretty. overall, this blush is not the best in the whole wide world, but there is nothing outstandingly wrong with it either. i recommend this if you want a natural-ish pink blush.

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Shimmer strips custom eye enhancing eyeliner trio
rated 5 of 5

I have very oily skin and these eyeliners stayed in place relatively well for me. By the end of a long day, it transferred very very little and faded only to about 80% of it's original color. -the blue shimmers in the black liner is faint to the point that you really cannot notice it when you wear it. the black is pretty dark, but it does not beat the bold, pitch black color of L'oreal Extra Intense. it applies pretty smoothly. -the brown liner is not true brown but is rather taupe with a pearly finish, which I like. it also applies smoothly and has good pigmentation, though slightly less staying power (fades slightly). -the blue liner is least pigmented of the three, but applies most smoothly. you can build the color up, though I also find that the staying power is not as excellent as the black liner. I still recommend it, and I still think the quality of this blue liner is above average. -i have only tried the black one on my tightline and it has performed better than many of the best reviewed eyeliners (MUFE, UD, L'oreal Extra Intense, Milani Liquif-eye, etc.). traces of black liner are still on my tightline at the end of an 8 hour day. it does transfer very lightly to the waterline, but does not smudge under my eye. it also doesn't transfer onto my contacts and make them blurry like other liners have annoyingly done. -there is a "sharpener" that comes attached to each of the liners. the sharpeners are definitely something that you have to learn to use. you control how angled you want the point of the liner to be. -the liners become blunt pretty quickly after i sharpen them. i also generally find it difficult to control the thickness of the line with retractable liners. -the quality of the twisting part (that retracts the product) is patchy. it twists up smoothly for the black one, feels even too loose for the brown one, and does not twist smoothly for the blue one (not loose enough) overall, i highly recommend these liners, especially given the price and the quality of the product itself.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Smoky ShadowBlast in Silver Sky

I think the packaging is nice in terms of the quality plastic caps. However, the eyeshadows wiggle tenuously in a container that is too big and the stick is simply too chunky to apply easily. I bought this for the purple end, because I wanted a nice, classy, wearable purple. This color does the job. Both ends are on the sheer side so it takes a few swipes to get it opaque. The application was relatively smooth, but did not lay down the product perfectly evenly. Sometimes, I could see little clumps. But they could be smoothed over easily.

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Liquiline Blast in Blue Boom

This is a nice, pure bold blue. When I wore this, I put it on top of a layer of black eyeliner. I have very oily skin and it didn't smear off my face. But it did slip a little bit to the outside corner of my eye. I also strangely found specks of blue on my cheek after a few hours. It doesn't seem to flake on my eye, so I don't know how that happened. Granted, I didn't wear eye primer. This eyeliner is quite sheer. It takes me several swipes to make it opaque. And it doesn't layer smoothly when I build it up. I see a tiny bit of uneven clumping. But that can be easily smoothed over with my finger. All in all, I would repurchase this because this nice of a blue color is uncommon, particularly among lower-end eyeliners.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Pure Gold
rated 5 of 5
sweet_cake 1/7/2011 4:10:00 PM

This gold is really pretty. The color is clean and tends towards the golden orange rather than golden yellow. I wear it as an eyeliner during the day, and it will not look particularly flamboyant. Nice pigmentation and buildability. As usual for NYX Jumbo Pencils, the quality is good in terms of smooth application, excellent staying power, and blendability. A packaging problem with all the pencils is the cap. They splinter easily, especially if you push in the cap so that it's snug. The whole cap doesn't crack, but I can see strain marks on my caps. Even so, the product is still really nice.

Eyeliner -NYX - Jumbo Pencil in Electric Blue

The color is not completely opaque on the first swipe, but you can build. I noticed that this color was "clumpier" than the other colors I've tried. By that I mean, after building up a few swipes, I noticed that the color wasn't completely even. But that is not very noticeable. Perhaps it is because of the little tiny, sparse sparkles that are in it. Overall, the color is pretty if unnatural, it has good staying power, and it is easy to use.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil - French Fries

This color was a little bit too pure-brown for my asian skin. But it did not transfer, fade, or slip noticeably even though I have very oily skin. All NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow pencils have the cap that I don't like - if you push in the cap too much, the plastic cap will start cracking. And I hate sharpening it because I waste so much product. But it really does have good staying power, even without a primer.

This is a really nice color for all purposes - from casual to semi-formal. It did not transfer, fade, or slip noticeably even though I have very oily skin.

Eyeliner -Sephora - Silver Green Nano Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5

I have this in blue jean and kaki green [sic]. There are tiny tiny sparkles in both of them to make them shimmery. They are metallic. In terms of application, they are not creamy so they take a normal amount of pressure. They are medium pigmented so I usually go over my line once or twice. They're both pretty dark when I put them on - I have black eyelashes. But from afar, you can see that they are not pure black. The kaki green is amazingly gorgeous - they look really classy and mature (not mature as in old. mature as in business/dinner adult.) Another thing I really like about them is that they are pretty short and they are only $5. They are 3.75 inches long from cap to end - so the actual pencil is about 3 inches. If given the choice between cheaper and shorter eyeliner or pricier and longer, I would choose the former. Since these are not mushy soft, they don't use up quickly. And since they are short, they will not take forever to get through. So when I do, I have the option of trying other colors! I don't put these on my waterline, because they don't show up very well. I had also bought the pure white, but returned it because it is chalky (little bits get caught in my lower lashes) and it doesn't go on my waterline at all.

Concealers -Almay - smart shade
rated 4 of 5
sweet_cake 9/19/2010 1:58:00 PM

I love this concealer for hiding scars, general redness/uneven skin tone, undereye circles, and mild/medium acne. I practically use it as foundation, except that it doesn't look cakey/heavy/opaque and I don't use it to cover my entire face. It doesn't seem to emphasize dry skin unless my skin is super flaky. It doesn't come off easily, even though I have oily-based skin. (I know, flakiness and oiliness should cancel out. But it doesn't on my face...) Cons: Sometimes, I find small pockets of watery pigment when it comes out of the tube. I can't put this pigment on my skin because it'll tint my skin super dark! When you layer it, that patch of your skin will get really dark. The packaging is also kind of annoying because you have to make sure you don't squeeze too hard so that concealer pops out. What I do is just squeeze out a little circle on the back of my hand and use my hand like a palette. But in general, I quite like it. The finish is sort of satiny, but mostly just matches the finish of my skin.

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Clean Oil Control Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
sweet_cake 8/17/2010 1:30:00 AM

This powder is great! I'm asian and it does not turn my face orange. The coverage is just right, in that people cannot see that i am wearing powder, but it still sets my concealer and covers it so that it looks natural. My face gets quite oily by the end of the day, and I feel kind of gross with powder and oil layered on my skin. But thats not the powder's fault. It doesn't really control my oil, although it will blot it if i reapply. In fact, i think it emphasizes the oil or makes my face produce more oil, cause i always feel like i look more oil with the powder on than without. the packaging is sturdy but really awful to open. i still have not figured out a way to open it easily. i now lay it flat permanently. so i like this product because it doesn't cake on and doesn't make my face a weird color.

Concealers -Almay - Clear Complexion Blemish Healing Spot Concealer
rated 3 of 5
sweet_cake 8/17/2010 1:23:00 AM

The staying power of this concealer is quite good. Perhaps that is why it is difficult to blend. I also find it hard to cover with powder. So the result is conspicuously light spots where i put the concealer. It does not particularly emphasize dry skin. It does not help my acne at all. It will crease under my eyes, because it is creamy/sticky. Overall, I use it occasionally to cover very red spots or spots that are oily so need the staying power of this concealer. I would hate to use it as my only concealer.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - MegaEyes eyeshadow--Cream
rated 3 of 5
sweet_cake 8/17/2010 1:16:00 AM

The color is nice for highlighting the lid and inner corners of the eye. It has a subtle shimmer that is like mother of pearl without the rainbow. I have oily lids, and the shadow comes off halfway through the day. I think its pretty pigmented. The lid broke without much effort. The clear plastic came away from the silver rim. So the packages is obviously not great.

Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Universal Points Sharpener
rated 4 of 5
sweet_cake 8/17/2010 1:11:00 AM

This is a great sharpener! It smoothly sharpens pencil liners and has a little plastic part near the blade to keep the pencil from sharpening to a tall/long point. I don't know if its just my own clumsiness, but i broke the pick within 5 minutes of opening the package! the pick is suppose to slide out but i had trouble sliding it out. so i thought that i was suppose to snap it up. so i pulled up and it broke in half. so remember to slide, not lift!

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Special Eyes Eyeliner pencil in "Black Magic"
rated 3 of 5
sweet_cake 8/17/2010 1:06:00 AM

Staying Power: i have oily skin and this eyeliner smudges easily on me. i notice the most smudging at the outer corners under my eyes. it transfers really far away from where i originally put it! Application: It applies smoothly and clumping doesn't seem to be a problem. Small mistakes are easy to fix by rubbing. But large mistakes, such as removing all of it from the lower lash line requires soap and water to wash. a line is still obvious even after furious rubbing.
