Lip Gloss -Silk Naturals - Kisser Slicker in Nectar
svendira 12/31/2012 8:54:00 AM
Silk Naturals have been giving me good impressions so far. I've been interested with Clinique's Black Honey Lipstick but one day I bumped into SN's web and found their dupe of the Black Honey lipstick. I read some reviews that stated the SN version is more moisturizing, so I purchased one. This is also the first time I purchased their lip product, after a while of being reluctant in choosing the right shade for me. I find that the SN is less waxy than Burt's Bee, which I like. The color doesn't really show up on pigmented lips, it just gives a natural redder tint which gives impression of healthier lips. I'm not sure how this looks on paler and cooler skin, but on medium/tan, this looks very wearable on daily basis. As for staying power, I don't expect a lot from sheer tint lip balm type. The tint is very sheer to begin with anyway. And boy does it really live up the hype, it is really moisturizing. Many hyped lip balms don't work for me, I've been sticking with Shiseido's which is definitely too expensive for lip treatment for me. Guessing from the size and the consistency (which is somehow melty), this will run out quite fast. Read on a review that she finished this only within a month. Nevermind, I will be gladly purchasing another SN's lippies!

Treatments -Kiehls - Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin-Clearing Treatment
svendira 8/2/2012 7:07:00 PM
I received this as a gift from a friend. At first, I was pretty sceptical toward mid/hi-end acne products, as I was digging on homepeelings at that moment. I glanced through the ingredients and I saw salicylic acid - which I had good experience with (in aspirin mask), so I gave it a try to a few hormonal acnes. I use this a spot treatment after applying Silk Naturals BHA Toner and Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate. For the first two days, I must say this didn't do much to the acnes. I don't know about others, but my hormonal acnes are quite stubborn ones. They're rather large in size, red, stays for a while, and when I do something (as in *ahem* picking them), they'll leave a bad dark scar which will take a long time to be vanished, even with the help of AHA and lightening product. Anyway, I kept applying them, and at day 4 I saw a mild exfoliation on the spot. I believe the redness was quite toned down, but the size of the bump wasn't noticeably reduced. In a week, the bump has gone smaller, the redness turned into a darker spot, and it was drier without looking patchy. On some spots, it was easier to extract without any mark/scar left, yet as I rub some spots have completely gone, only leaving a slightly darker mark. I kinda like the result, it works slightly slower than I expected, but it seriously made the stubborn hormonal acne disappear. I don't depend on this concerning to the scar left from the disappearing acne. I don't really think this works in lightening the darkened spot. However, this product doesn't always work (and I haven't found out why). It may works on what may appears as cystic acne, but there are some tiny rashes that can't be overcome by this. Conclusion (+) works pretty well on hormonal acne (+) not drying (+) clear finish, can be applied under make up (?) I guess this only works on certain types of acne (?) though some may find this is quite expensive, but it comes in a large size and you only need a small amount everytime you apply it (-) takes time (-) may leave dark spot I may repurchase in 2 conditions: a) in a far future, since I use this in a very small amount everytime; b) if on the way I don't find something interesting.

Lip Treatments -MAC - Tendertone Lip Balm SPF 12 - Hot N' Saucy
svendira 7/30/2011 12:02:00 PM
I think I'm gonna be the party pooper here. Unfortunately, I am not impressed with this product. The color may comes pretty nice, as mentioned a lot, it is a sheer red that gives a fresh impression to almost any color of lips. It also seems to moisturize a lot without giving a sticky feeling, just leaving a natural sheen. Sadly, the moisturizing job ends after a few minutes on me, not to mention the smell is kinda weird and too plastic-like. For the price, I think you can choose many more cheaper drugstore products that has the same quality with this. Although Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss feels more sticky, it has better color payoff, stays longer, and moisturizes so much better than this.

Concealers -Shu Uemura - Pro Concealer [DISCONTINUED]
svendira 7/19/2011 2:18:00 PM
PROS: - Very pigmented, covers very well - Does not oxidize - It stays for a long time, even without primer - Quite on a dry side, so it's good for oily skin. I find it stays when everything else on my face has melted down. - Get a shade lighter for the undereye, it brightens very well. (Don't forget to moisturize first) - It's rather small, but it's very compact CONS - Kinda expensive, but I guess the price goes along with the quality - Not very generous in size - You have to dip your finger to get the product. Well, you can use brush anyway I am NC30/35 and I find 7yr Medium Light is lighter than my skintone, so I barely use this to conceal any scar/blemish/dark spots on the face, I tend to use this as undereye concealer. I set this with MAC Blot Powder and it stays for more than 7 hours. the shade I'm using is pretty neutral, I am yellow undertoned but when I apply this on my friend who is slightly pinkier than I am, it matches. So far I have used Laura Mercier, MAC Select Moisture, NYX, Bare Minerals, Revlon, ZA, and I find this is the best. I think I will repurchase, I even think about getting Shu foundation.

Crème -Bobbi Brown - Oil-Free Even Finish Compact Foundation
svendira 2/7/2011 11:11:00 AM
I am NC30 (NC35 when darker), and #3.5 Warm Sands suits my yellow undertone very well, it's not heavily yellow that turns your skin orange-ish, it's just a yellowish shade that brightens. The shade matches very well, only, I can't really seem to compromise with its texture. It's a thick creamy foundation that once applied will turn to powdery finish with medium coverage. I never tried applying it with brush since I don't have any proper brush yet, but when I'm applying with sponge, it instantly gives medium coverage which I think is good for those who needs to cover here and there. I don't find it cakey actually, and when I finish them with MAC Blot Powder (in medium) the skin will look polished in a matte finish. Until, a few hours, it starts to blend to your skin (may I say, oxidize. It doesn't turn into a muddy dull shade anyway), leaving a semi dewy skin, but, unfortunately, I find it enhancing unwanted features on my skin. It fails to give me flawless texture and cover horrible pores after a while. I guess you need to have a perfect skin to have this work, because I bet, if you have a superb surface, this will turn your skin into a beautiful dewy finish. I have tried it with primer (Monistat and Pureluxe) but it just doesn't seem to work. Instead, I got some small rashes, guess it's because I've managed to block my pores :|

Blush -Stila - Peony Convertible Color
svendira 1/20/2011 4:27:00 PM
I love layering this with Everyday Minerals' Bollywood blush, combined, they create a very beautiful peachy--pink that would compliment my NC35 yellow toned skin. It gives a very natural flush, very suitable for daily usage. At first, I did not like the texture since it reminds me of pigmented lip conditioner, I was afraid it's going to turn oily on my skin. But once applied, the texture helps to blend easily. The other cream blush I use is Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge and the Stila is way easier to apply and blend. As for the staying power, I always top it with other blush to help it lasts longer, I don't really believe it will stay since I have oily skin. The packaging sort of looks cheap, but it works effectively so it doesn't really matter. It's made of plastic so I don't need to worry about any kind of fragility. It's also very compact. I really recommend this product, use it with finger or any stippling brush, it's very easy to apply and the result is very natural.

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay - De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray
svendira 11/20/2010 6:51:00 PM
I didn't use this as a finishing spray because instead of mattifying, it gives a dewy finish. And for oily skin this delivers bad news. So I use this as a primer and it successfully creates a perfect base, and makes concealer and everything i put on (expect powder blush, sadly, I always have bad luck with powder blush) sticks for hours. It doesn't break my out either. I wasn't expecting for any oil control but at least this doesn't make the skin oilier. Good thing for a primer, might repurchase IF can't find anything better, because a bottle actually lasts pretty long.

Eyeliner -Bourjois - Regard Effet Duochrome Eyeliner
svendira 9/12/2010 2:53:00 PM
Mine is Noir bleue. It's a blue with very subtle shimmer. Very adorable color, pulls more and you get glamorous but not over-the-top blue liner. I bought this to substitute MUFE Aqua Eyes, the blue one. Turns out this has more beautiful color in my opinion, and it's creamier than makes it easier to apply. I'm not a big fan of its staying power anyway, I must say it's worse than Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner and MUFE. But for such beautiful color, and such friendly price, it's alright for me. I was testing the purple one on the counter, and I think I'll get it the next time I visit Bourjois. It's definitely on par with Urban Decay to me, since UD doesn't impress me that much in the staying power department. Anyway, it gives great shade if you apply and smudge, great tool to create effortless smokey eyes.

Blush -MAC - Coppertone
svendira 7/14/2010 4:51:00 PM
Not much to say, I love it very much. Super pigmented, matte (but somehow it gives subtle glow), medium brownish peach, very finely milled. I really recommend this to you yellow undertoned and tan girls out there. Oh just to warn you, a little bit goes a long way.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner in BlackBrown
svendira 7/14/2010 4:39:00 PM
I choose this over Urban Decay (regardless their beatiful color range). Urban Decay liners go way to creamy and soft, which somehow I find it harder too control. To me, this eyeliner is on par with MUFE Aqua Liner. They don't smudge at all, and does not leave panda eyes after a day activity. Great for waterline too. Yea I guess if you're looking for MUFE's Aqua Liner dupe, this is the right thing. One lippie off to the packaging, I cannot sharpen it. It may take extra work to create a thinner line. Overall, it is definitely a steal for the price and the quailty.

Lip Treatments -RoC - Dermatologic Enydrial Repairing Lip Care
svendira 4/9/2010 5:28:00 PM
I heard some raves from my relatives, and my dermatologist recommended this product too. First try, I like how it moisturizes without making my lips greasy and shiny. But after using frequently, I find that this thing starts to give me that shine and this filmy feeling that lasts for a while. As for the moisturizing job, this still does well. This might be a good product, but not as what I've expected. I will recommend this to those who needs to heal the dryness. I wouldn't repurchase though, I want something less shiny.

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Shy Girl
svendira 3/29/2010 5:02:00 PM
I tried to like this product. Shy Girl basically is a warm pink nude color, which will fits any undertone. But this fact annoys me the most: THE TEXTURE. I don't know how everyone who loves this put this on their lips, but I've tried every kind of application and it still gets badly flaky, and it seems like mocking every lip moisturizer I've worn. No matter how moisturizer my lips are, they get superflaky everytime I apply Shy Girl. It's not that I suggest not to buy it, I guess it's just not for me, I seriously fell in love with the color and without noticing the flakes details, it gives a beautiful but not over the top shine. UPDATED: Ok, I've found out how to wear it properly. After moisturizing your lips, let it sinks for a while, then DAB lightly (you will have dab it repeatedly to build the colors). This lipstick is a great way to mute pigmented lips, but I find that it's almost impossible for me to wear this alone if I'm building the color read hard. It really mutes "LIFE" in my face (note: my skin is tan and has strong yellow undertone). Anyway, the staying power is pretty good, and after working on those moisturizing problem, it doesn't dry my out, too.

Lipstick -LORAC - Matte Lipstick - Imagine
svendira 3/9/2010 1:11:00 PM
I am very happy with this. I got the "my lips but better" look with this lipstick. Imagine is described as natural rose brown, creamy with matte finish lipstick. On my pigmented lips, it completes my yellow undertone with warm rosy light brown, definitely makes my face brighter (I'm NC40-ish). As for the staying power, I never expect a lot from lipstick, this one does well, leaves a little stain after a few hours, might need to reapply if you want more polished look. This also doesn't sink into lip lines. Great smooth texture, somehow i find this lighter that any other matte lipstick. My previous favorite was Revlon's Mauve It Over, and I personally think this has a much better texture, a deeper color version of it, and warmer, of course. It would flaunt every medium skin with yellow undertone I suppose. I would repurchase it although this costs a little too much for daily usage.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara
svendira 2/11/2010 1:44:00 PM
Pros: - Natural looking - Lengthening (at least for me) - Nice black fluid with a decent consistency, controllable for me while applying, I can easily avoid making clumps - Great at separating the lashes (also after using use elf clear mascara as base) Cons: - Smudges after a few hours (on oily lids) - Doesn't really hold curls - If you're looking for a volumizing one, I don't think this is it Why not repurchasing: need something to hold curls, something that doesn't smudge, and volumizing my poor thin lashes.

Blush -Rimmel - Apricot [DISCONTINUED]
svendira 1/6/2010 4:13:00 AM
Pros: Beautiful subtle shimmer Nice pink peachy color Very buildable, yet can reach a perfect sheerness Matches olive-yellow undertone Dirt cheap! Cons: The glitters. I personally don't look for glittery blush. Sometimes i swipe my cheek with fan brush to get rid of them. Packaging, although it is cute but i find it too fragile Never tried NARS deep throat that's said to be similar. But if it is so similar,i personally much prefer Rimmel since i think the glitter is weirdly chunky. This doesn't break me out but I don't think I will repurchase because I'm not a fan of shimmers.
