Lip Liners -NYX - Jumbo Lip Pencil - Plush Red 712
rated 4 of 5
sushiomelette 12/11/2012 2:45:00 PM

This is a very nice lip pencil. It does bleed a little and when first applied is VERY creamy, I usually have to blot afterwards to set it. While it's a neutral red, I find it less blue based than NARS' Dragon Girl. Makes for a perfect pin up girl look though. If you're looking for a cheap red lip color that lasts somewhat, then this is it for you. I'm looking forward to trying NYX's other colors.

I didn't know I needed this brush until I got it! I apply concealer to my undereye area everyday and use this brush to blend it in. It's so soft and light and easy to use. Great quality brush at a great price.

I got this while it was on sale at Sephora and I'm so glad I did! It's the perfect bronzer brush for blending and buffing your bronzer. It's sturdy, the bristles are thick and soft, all around good quality brush. Great purchase!

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Professionnel Platinum Angled Eyeliner Brush #23
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 9/18/2012 8:28:00 PM

I was lucky and bought this while it was on sale at Sephora. I don't know how I put on eyeliner without this brush! I typically would use my angled eyeliner brush and was finally convinced I should try a bent eyeliner brush. Now I think, why didn't I get this sooner? Makes it so easy to line eyes and even get between lashes. I would always have difficulty doing the perfect cat eye with an angled eyeliner brush, now this makes it so much easier.

Palettes -LORAC - PRO Palette
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 9/13/2012 3:34:00 PM

I caved and bought this palette when I was at Sephora yesterday. I had been pining for it since it came out and I'm so glad I bit the bullet. I love this palette. It is rare to find a palette that contains as many matte shades as there are shimmer shades. I own a lot of UD palettes and the colors are usually so shimmery, I like that Lorac has included so many matte shades for us working girls. There isn't one thing terrible about this palette. There are so many different combinations that you could make, either for day time or evening, mixing shimmer and matte shades. The texture of the shadows is so buttery soft and so easy to blend, the only negative thing I noticed is that when you dip your brush it, you get shadow flying. Today I tried Cream on the lid and brow bone, Taupe in the crease and Sable lining my eyes and lower lash line. I can't wait to try more looks, especially with the Mauve and Garnet shadows, as I don't think I have shadows in these colors. Overall a great purchase! You will not be disappointed. You get 0.32 oz for each eyeshadow which doesn't seem like a lot but in UD's naked palette each shadow is 0.05 oz, so you get a lot. Top row matte colors: White Cream Taupe Light Pink Mauve Sable Espresso Black Bottom row Shimmer Colors: Nude Champagne (Sparkle) Gold Lt. Bronze Pewter Garnet Deep Purple Slate I just tried the eye primer and is goes on smoothly but for keeping colors bright all day, the jury's still out. I'll come back and review it once I've had a chance to really test it out. From Lorac's website (this look is hot): "Go PRO this Fall with professional cosmetics from LORAC! To get the PRO look, first even out skin tone with Natural Performance Foundation. Add a long-lasting, velvety-rich glow to the apples of the cheeks with LORAC's PRO Powder Cheek Stain in Coral Crush. Highlight under eyes and on cheekbones with Perfectly Lit Luminizing Powder in Spotlight. For the eyes, always prime the eyelids with Behind The Scenes Eye Primer. Then to create this sultry eye look, Carol used the PRO Palette, using the Nude shade from lash line to brow bone, the Garnet shade on the lid and outer corner, and then defining the eyes with the Black Matte Shadow in the outer corner and crease. For a more dramatic effect, try the shadows wet. To line and define, use LORAC's PRO Cream Eyeliner in Black along the top and bottom lash line. Finish with big, babydoll lashes with LORAC's PRO Mascara. This lengthening and thickening mascara has a jumbo, tapered professional brush to grab even the finest of lashes and those hard to reach lashes in the corner of the eye. For the lips, mix the Vintage & Muse shades together from the Couture Shine Nudes Duo."

Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Even Finish Foundation Spf 15
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 8/6/2012 8:09:00 PM

I wanted a new long wear foundations after realizing my MAC Prolongwear NC35 wasn't matching my skin tone. I decided to try this new foundation and it seems to be holding up well. I'm Natural Tan #4.25. What I love about this foundation is that it looks like my skin, it blends in so perfectly. When the MUA applied it, I thought where did it go? But the color match was perfect I was so excited (nothing annoys me more than your face color not matching your neck or chest. It applies smoothly and not sticky (sometimes Prolongwear felt thick when applied). It blends easily, doesn't streak. I also got the face touch up stick it's also a perfect color match. The price is definitely higher, but the packaging is great with the pump.

Tinted Moisturizer -NARS - Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 3/14/2012 8:04:00 PM

This is a good tinted moisturizer. Honestly, I really only wanted to try it because they have a shade named Alaska and since I live in Alaska I was curious if it was a match, and it is! But really it's nice that it doesn't settle into lines and it has spf and we'll see if it lightens any dark spots I may have. Good purchase so long as you find a color to match. For reference I'm NC30-35 with yellow undertones.

BB Cream -Too Faced - Tinted Beauty Balm Multi-Benefit Skin Care Makeup
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 3/14/2012 7:56:00 PM

I agree with the other reviewers that this is more like a tinted moisturizer. In face. the packaging reminds me a whole lot of Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer, the illuminating kind, but less sparkly. My skin feels moisturized and calm when I put this on, but I definitely need a powder to set it otherwise my face is shiny. I got the color Cream Glow (I'm NC30-35). And it's perfect match. This is nice to wear on those days where I dont' feel like putting on too much makeup.

Polishes -Butter London - Trout Pout
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 3/2/2012 7:17:00 PM

Trout Pout is a creamy coral pink, like salmon pink or flamingo pink, very bright and perfect for spring/summer. It took about 2 coats for full opacity, it applies pretty thickly. I can't wait to wear this all summer!

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Perversion
rated 3 of 5
sushiomelette 2/29/2012 8:46:00 PM

I was really excited to try this eyeliner but even though they claim that it's "waterproof" it really isn't. It's moved all over my eye and on my lid which is very annoying. Won't repurchase. I will probably just stick to Zero for my waterline.

Eyeliner -MAC - Liquidlast Liner - Point Black
rated 4 of 5
sushiomelette 2/29/2012 8:45:00 PM

This. Does. Not. Budge. Unless you use an oil based makeup remover. Also don't use the applicator it comes with. It's very difficuly to apply with it, use a slanted eyeliner brush. This is the best eyeliner that won't move for nothing. Great for making cat eyes. I hope they don't discontinue it! It's the best waterproof eyeliner for the money.

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Luminous Silk Foundation
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 2/29/2012 8:08:00 PM

I was in my Nordstroms looking for the Nars tinted moisturizer, and I saw this and I knew a long time ago I wanted to try it but I didn't know which color I was. They MUA matched me with 5.75. I tried it today and boy they don't lie when they say silk. It feels so silky applying it and it's seamless, no streaks whatsoever. I'm kind of sad that it doesn't have some kind of spf protection in it. It doesn't accentuate the dryness, but it doesn't help it either. That being said, I'm going to compare it to Nars' Sheer Glow foundation because they seem similar to me. It is expensive, yes, but once you have the right color it melts right into your skin.

Lipstick -Urban Decay - Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Lovechild
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 2/29/2012 8:00:00 PM

When I saw that UD released a new lip color in the SSHG lip color (which really looks like a lip pencil), I wanted to try it out because I love Fbomb, Punch Drunk, Adrenaline, etc. Now, I haven't tried the UD lipstick version of this, but I imagine they should be the same. The color they describe as a pale pink. I would also add that this pink on my lips (I'm NC35) makes me look like Nicki Minaj. So, if you're looking for that type of pink, this one is very blue based and is prone to making your teeth look yellower if they're not super white. That being said, I say to UD to keep cranking out colors in the lip pencil formula because I love 'em.

Lipstick -Revlon - Revlon Super Lustrous in Fire and Ice
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 2/28/2012 3:06:00 PM

I'm glad I read reviews on this before I purchased it. This is an excellent red, hasn't bled on me yet. On me it looks more red than reddish coral, but I still love it. It hasn't dried out my lips and it has lasted through eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Plus the fact that it's so much cheaper than department store brands, this buy is a no brainer.

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Active Naturals Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream
rated 5 of 5
sushiomelette 1/4/2012 2:14:00 PM

I've had eczema since I was a kid and only recently has it gotten really bad during the winter. I decided to try this after trying really expensive lotions. It helps a lot because after it dries it adds this thick protective layer preventing me from scratching, but also because I don't feel as itchy anymore. Most people can't understand what it's like not being able to scratch an itch. There's just no satisfaction until you just about scratch your skin off and bleed incessantly. This has finally saved my skin somewhat without having to resort to steroids. At night I use the Intense Relief Overnight Cream and that seems to help. In the shower I use Aveeno Body Wash. I've seen improvement in just two days. I just have to remember to put it on everyday after I shower. Update (1-23-12): After using this consistently, my skin is no longer bumpy and irritated, nor do I feel like ripping my skin off constantly. It really really helped and I'm going to continue to use it and repurchase. I highly highly recommend it if you are an eczema sufferer.
