Fragrances -Versace - Versense EdT
susanvn 6/11/2011 9:52:00 AM
Even though I have more or less 20 bottles of perfume, this is my first Versace. I love the fresh citrus wit some floral scent combined that is quite unique. Perfume preference is very individual, so you must really put it on and judge how the scent works on you. Having said that, this is one of my personal favorite in the collection. Its biggest cons is the staying power, only last for like 2 hours. The remaining scent after that is just like some alcohol cologne!!!

Powder -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Medium [DISCONTINUED]
susanvn 6/9/2011 3:24:00 AM
Just to start with, MAC foundations are generally great. And again I'm very happy with my MSFN. This is my 3rd pot and I dont think I'll buy any other powders :) At first I got this in Dark just to do all the shadings for cheekbones, forehead and jawline. Dark turns out to be bit too dark, too orangy for my skintone but it serves the purpose just to contour. I like the way it goes on nicely though and I decided to try the one in Medium Plus to set my foundation instead of my usual loose powder. I notice a huge difference. My skin is so smooth, pore-less without looking so caky and theatrical :) These days when I run late for work or appointment, I just put on my Lancome concealer, Benefit Pore-fessional and few touches of this powder and I'm done with my foundation routine. I got so many compliments on my skin, and many frds came to ask which foundation I use to achieve that flawless look. The 2 cons that I can think of are it doesn't come with a mirror and you'll need a brush to apply, which you can't hold 3 of them altogether at once :)

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Pink Blush
susanvn 3/4/2011 9:32:00 AM
This is my 1st drugstore lipstick, I have to admit. I usually go for safe choices of l/s, that's why Dior, Mac, Bobbi Brown are always my top choice and they rarely fail me. But this color looks so pretty in the tube and I read loads of good reviews on Rimmel l/s on MUA that I decided to give it a shoot. First is the pros: I was right just to choose it for the color. The pale matte Barbie-like pink does brighten up my face and my BF who normally objects to me wearing makeup actually keeps complimenting me when I wear this. But but but again, the cons are too many to ignore: First is the annoying plastic smell, it's right there just below ur nose the whole time. The packaging looks cheap in plastic, the cap keeps falling out. And it dries up my lips like crazy, I can't apply it on its own. I either put a lip-balm or a coat of my Dior sheer l/s underneath. But still, my lips get chapped and flaky!!! Loving the color so much, I just brought this l/s to department store in the hope I can find a similar color with better quality. And that's when I discover my new love. Try Bobbi Brown's new range - Lip Rich Color in Bikini Pink, and u'll never go back to this crappy thing :) Oh man, this new BB baby is so pigmented, moisturizing and super lasting!!!

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Powder Blush in Pale Pink
susanvn 2/28/2011 10:09:00 PM
I love this blush. Decided to go for this after reading so many good reviews about it and I'm never disappointed :) It's a pretty bright pink. If you want a light natural blush, go light-handed. And of course, build up the color for a more dramatic, contoured look. The thing that differentiates this from other blushes is its staying power. I have oily skin, so normally I have to use a cream blush and then top up with a powder blush in the hope that my blusher stays bit longer. I got many blushers from Estee Lauder, BeneFit, MAC, The Balm, etc but none lasts me more than 3 hours. But this pretty BB powder can really stay on my cheeks litterally the whole day. I put it on in the morning before I go to work, and it's still there when I reach back home. Amazing stuff!!!

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks - Powder Pink
susanvn 2/28/2011 10:00:00 PM
BB products are normally of the top quality, they rarely fail me. If you want peace of mind when it comes to makeup stuffs, hit BB counter. I have 2 PR from her so far and I love both of them. Powder Pink looks a bit bright as a cream blush on me, so I have to use with light hand. And I top it up with a peachy powder blush to set it and it stays pretty. But one thing that amazes me with this PR is when applied as lip color. Gosh, I receive so many compliments wearing this color :D)) I dont feel the dryness as some mentioned. The texture is creamy, goes on smoothly and it really lasts long. I just add some sheer lipgloss in the center of my lips to add some dimension and that's it. Lip-liner will help frame ur lip and keep the color from smearing, but it's not a must-do for this color! You may be fooled by the boring color on the pot, but trust me, the color really pops and brightens up ur complexion in a natural way. I tried to buy a lipstick in this shade (u know we dont always carry a lip-brush around) but they say they dont have it in a stick-form. Some of BB lipstick colors come near, but it's not exactly the same. So I guess I'll need to keep buying this, for an added advantage of a cream blush when needed ;)

Makeup Brushes -Make Up For Ever - Powder Brush 32S
susanvn 12/9/2009 9:23:00 PM
This is the one and only brush that i've bought from MUFE. The reason is simple: it totally SUCKKSSSSS!!! For such a prestige name in MU line like MUFE, it's a huge shame. I was sold at MUFE counter because it feels soft, the bristles are nicedly packed and its glossy wooden handle was stiff, short which makes it portable (The one that I have is BB15 face powder brush). Plus, it's cheaper than MAC face brushes, RM90 vs RM150-180, which urges me to give it a try after forking out so much money on other MAC brushes so far. But, only after one or two uses, the bristles get harden from the powder that you can feel it scratchy and itchy. The worst problem of it is it shreds like crazy, I can literally pick up the bristles from the brush and of course from my face after use. In an effort to save this, I use Johnson's baby shampoo to wash it. And guess what, the black color from the so-called "squirrel" hair came out, which still happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I wash it (I have never had this experience with any brushes, even the drugstore dirt cheap ones). After wash, the hair looks bit more shiny but still it shreds a lot and get rough after several applications. Everytime I come across this brush, I just hate myself from being so stupid to buy it. Such a disappointed experience. NEVER AGAIN MUFE BRUSHES, only MAC and BOBBI BROWN brushes are satisfying enough - now I'm convinced ;)

Eyeliner -TiGi - Big Fat Fun Eye Pencils
susanvn 12/2/2009 9:05:00 PM
Well, how should I start? This is my 1st time reviewing a product. I have always done a lot of research on MUA before making my purchase, but rarely have the urge to write in my own comment on any products (despite the fact that I never have enough room on my dressing table to store all my makeup stuffs). Seeing one of my HG items doesn't have that much credit as it deserves really breaks my heart. This item came to my realm from a recommendation of my bestie - who is a makeup sucker herself :) I'm a born messy, can't hardly draw anything, not to mention a tiny line on eyelids. My hands are not steady, so I would never think of buying liquid eyeliners. At first I was hesitant to grab this, assuming that it's gonna end up sitting of the bottom of my drawer like other expensive but useless Dior Snow, Lancome or Estee Lauder pencils. But I was convinced by my frd, she has such smouldered eyes, which enhances her makeup a lot. So I was sold, and I'm so glad that I did. For the 1st time, I can draw a smooth perfect line. The application goes on so effortlessly. It's the only product that deserve the name "automatic" liners which many claim to have but they don't!!! Before that I always thought that I might poke my eyes one day when trying to press the pencils so that the line will show up, but with this, just a gentle stroke and voila! I agree with some others that it's the hybrid between gel and cream, which makes the colors so out-standing and long-lasting. It doesn't smudge at all on my oily lids (FYI, i use Mac's Prep Prime Eye underneath, my eyeshadows fade sometimes still but not the liners). The smudger on the other end comes in handy when I want to creat a quick smokey look. Just draw a thick line, smudge it out, add some dark shadow on top of that to make the color more vibrant and some highlighter beneath the eyebrows and corners of the eyes and you are good to go. Thanks to this Big Fat Fun, I gain my confidence that every girl can beautify themselves and yes, makeup makes magic ;)
