I will return. The nordstrom makeup stylist matched me and after 1 hour, my combo skin was slicked with shine. No can do, way too oily. It feels great , the color is perfect, just made me way too oliy. I prefer clinique and armani sheer.

Blush -Burberry - Blossom Blush
rated 5 of 5
suraimcfly 3/29/2012 2:06:00 PM

I hate blush, I am too lazy to use it. But I love this and for what it does to my face, it's my go to product, won't leave home without it blush. I'm asian, medium yellow/olive and the color of this is so right for spring, not clowny pink or red flush like rest but with enough punch to get me feeling like I've got some healthy color.

Treatments -La Mer - Face Serum

What is it about me and La Mer. I was just a kid out of college, saving every nickle and dime to buy the smallest tub of the legendary cream. What happenned? Absolutely nothing. I then splurged on the eye cream when I landed my first job. What happened? Nada. Now, I'm going to be celebrating my #0 bday and wanted this serum to be the one, but again, nothing. Thank goodness, I learned my lesson and didn't pay for the tiny sample.

Lotions/ Creams -Lavanila - The Healthy Baby Butter
rated 5 of 5
suraimcfly 6/1/2010 9:32:00 PM

Don't knock it 'til you try it! This "baby" lotion is my new HG body moisturizer. The butter is light like lotoin but the moisture is absorbed quickly and long lasting. Ilove the smell of it! Not like a baby's bottom or anything like waht you might imagine. The packaging says it's great for sensitive adults too and this normal skin adult wants to just eat it all up!

Crème -Smashbox - 'Camera Ready' Full Coverage Foundation
rated 5 of 5
suraimcfly 4/12/2010 3:34:00 AM

After 2 months of tediously (and expensively) trying brand after brand from makeupalley and sephora highest rated list, Smashbox and Kanebo came out the clear winners. I have asian dry in winter oily in summer skin. This foundation does what I expect for an HG everyday foundation: flexible coverage, stay true color (absolutely the ONLY one that didn't turn orange/yello after 8 hours), soft to touch, head turning, compliment getting, break-out free, non-cakey, natural matte with soft lit glow. All other high end powers matted me like a mask. Here's what I tried for powder foundation and rate as 2nd place winners: Cle du Peau, Shiseido Compact, Kanebo Lunsol. I was disappointed with: Shu Umera, Channel, La Prairie, Sisley, Mac Mineralize, YSL, Lorac, Bare Minerals, Chanatelle, Revlon ColorStay, Neutrogena, Napoleon Pardis, Tarte, Lancome.

Powder -Kanebo - Lunasol Skinfusing Powder Foundation
rated 5 of 5
suraimcfly 4/8/2010 11:31:00 AM

If you live in the US, go 2-3 shades darker. Trust me. Whether it says so or not, all Kanebo powders (Kate, media, lushevel, freshel) have a skin whitener that seems to bleach your skin and you look 2-3 times whiter. The tricky thing with Lunasol is that the whiteness does not appear right away. I was half way through dinner when my friend said, "you have a white sheen on your face!" And that's wearing the darkest shade available, OC-D/4!!! I'm fair skinned asian living in California where it's sunny most of the year. You want to be fair without looking geisha and as much as I love the softness, the non-drying and the pore coverage of this powder, I can't walki around like a geisha girl when it's so sunny outside all year round.

Powder -Kanebo - KATE Powder Foundation (Transial Pact)
rated 4 of 5
suraimcfly 4/1/2010 5:28:00 AM

Great product, so so sheer yet high coverage compared to chanel and armani and even cle du peau. But BEWARE, all Kanebo foundations are 2-3 shades lighter on your skin than in the case. Those light reflectors Kanebo puts in all their makeup made me look light a ghost in their darkest shade, OC-D. I know Asians strive for the lighter is better but c'on, some of us live in California and it's just not natural to be so pale, not even as an Asian.

Powder -Kanebo - Kanebo Media Compact Foundation
rated 3 of 5
suraimcfly 4/1/2010 5:23:00 AM

Kanebo is an excellent line but don't waste your money on this one. Try the KATE powder foundation instead. In case you are new to Kanebo, the line puts out many different "sub-lines" of makeup including MEDIA, KATE, LUSINOL, TOTAL and on and on and MEDIA is their low end line. I'm having luck with their powders and eye shadow pallettes. Everything is high coverage yet sheer and exceeds the staying power of many mass department store lines. One thing that was surprising was how their powders all appear MUCH lighter on the skin than the actual pigment. That's becuase Kanebo puts lighteners into everything, it's that whole whiter is better Asian thing. If you live in the US, you might not know to buy 2-3 shades darker in Kanebo just to match your shade and unless you are bright yellow, get the OC - Ocher colors instead of the Yellow shades. I'm pretty typical yellow asian and the ocher is already as yellow tinted as I want to go. Can't imagine what Kanebo's yellow is really like! Then, if you want that bronzey look (not at all what Asia is selling), you'll have to go even darker. I don't think Kanebo even sells a bronzer.

Powder -Cle de Peau - Powder Foundation SPF 21
rated 5 of 5
suraimcfly 3/24/2010 3:46:00 AM

I've found my new favorite powder foundation. With my oil covered skin upon me during these warm days, I went on an exhausive search of a new powder foundation. I searched the drugstore favorite like ColorStay by Revlon and the high end brands like Chanel and La Prarie and my now 2nd fav., Korres. Cle du Peua is now my new HG foundation. I tested it on one half of my face and my past favorites on the other half. The coverage is moderate like most others but the finish is what sets this foundation apart, you will look gorgeous! Your flaws are covered but not to the point of unnatural (like my last HG La Prarie). It stays on for 6 hours even in direct sunlight and during physical activity like the La Prarie powder but this looks more natural. The packaging is complicated but it is refillable, another one up on La Prarie. If you are olier than oily, put La Prarie on 1/2 of your face and Cle du Peau on the half, compare. You can't go wrong with either one.

Liquid -Yves Saint Laurent - TEINT RESIST Long Wear Transfer Resistant Foundation
rated 4 of 5
suraimcfly 11/6/2009 2:31:00 AM

At first application, this is the best foundation I've come across after Korres' Wild Rose. But after a few hours, my whole face became oily and unattractively shiny. The color didn't change, but the texture did, from matte to sheen. I still like it and with some powder, it performs better than other liquids out there. Just keep in mind that the YSL shades are way lighter than other brands. So, a 7 is light/medium not nearly a true medium as the label states.

Skincare - Body -Bio Oil - All Products
rated 5 of 5

I'm going to bathe in this stuff! It's that good. So Walgreens lady tells me she uses this as her daily facial moisturizer, morning and night. It fades her brown spots. I told her I was oily, she says it's ok, I won't regret it. She was so adamant that I get this.... Well, after 1 day, my spots were less noticable. It moisturized so well and smells so yummy, that I started to dab some all over the place and guess what... instant itch and discomfort relief on my c-section scar! This stuff is shrinking my keyloid worm more effectively than the prescription steriod. I am going to see if I can find a Costco-size version and bath in it!

Powder -La Prairie - Cellular Treatment Foundation Powder
rated 5 of 5
suraimcfly 5/2/2009 12:13:00 AM

This is THE must have powder, perfect in every way except for the price. It goes on easily, not patchy or fake looking. My skin feels smooth and looks matte but not to made up. And I don't know why they don't put it in the name but this powder stays on ALL DAY on greasy skin, they should add "ALL DAY" to the description. I have oily skin and this is the ONLY powder that keeps away shine all day long, even now in humid weather. I wish I had found it sooner, would have saved a lot of money trying Lorac, NARS, Tarte, Channel, Dior, Loreal, E. Lazlor, Bare Ecsentuals, prescriptives, jemma kid, Givenchy, Armani, and YSL! Oh yeah, Hourglass, Korres and Laura Mercier, Kevin Aucion and Armani are 2nd choices if you don't need the matte finish but they are way seond cuz no powder stays on as long as this one!

Treatments -Murad - Sleep Reform Serum
rated 5 of 5
suraimcfly 4/19/2009 3:28:00 AM

A miracle fountain of youth. I've tried microderma abrasion, DDF, PRT, DR. Brandt and many other anti aging lines and this unassuming little gray bottle beats them all single handedly. What I like about it, is the simplicity of having only 1 product that actually works. Lines around the eyes are fading, skin is more even, tighter..... amazing after all these claims to find something that delivers.

Treatments -L'Occitane - Shea & Organic Cotton Ultra Comforting Serum
rated 5 of 5
suraimcfly 4/19/2009 3:24:00 AM

Wow, if you had told me that my multiple personality oily/dry skin would find a solution with this fu fu mall boutique brand, I would have laughed! The store front and the snooty old lady fragrance of their stores is such a turn off but this lotion leaves my somethings grossly oily/sometimes flaky dry skin happy in nothing but softness. I got sucked into the organic/natural products trend and have tried mychelle, avalon, jason, kiss my face, bare minerals (new moisturizer) and everything else that wholefoods will let you test for free and this lotion is the only one that consistently and instantly softens my skin. The others work one day but maybe not the next. I've never carried lotion in my purse before but I do now.

Treatments -Frederic Fekkai - Apple Cider Clearing Rinse
rated 5 of 5

This is the only conditioner/rinse that I buy over and over again. The fragrance alone is worth it! and the shine that it leaves, nothing else can compare!
