Eye Primer -Fyrinnae - Pixie Epoxy
rated 5 of 5
supersally 4/8/2010 11:43:00 AM

I'd like to clarify something first. Fyrinnae states that it's not an eyeshadow primer, so I think that PE does not prevent creasing, well it's a plus if it does work for some of you. Therefore, a real eyeshadow base before PE is recommended. :) Only a small amount is needed based on your own experimentation. Then, you gotta let it DRY completely before patting any shadows on, otherwise glue-like residue could be running off your lids. (not pretty) Also, it is not supposed to be working on matte and I agree..... I find that synthetic brushes (liek Ecotools) applies eyeshadows more evenly and smoothly on my lids - a personal preference. The blending is great, but I know it will take practice. Once you get it, The effect is glossy and bright, better than foiling. I know I've foiled a few times, but almost all failed or basically the eyeshadows all creased on me within a very short time even with my primer underneath. (very oily lids I've got) The problem with the normal foiling is apart from the water, I also went a hunt for the perfect foiling serum/selant whatever you call it to no success. I've wasted my time and money on all those products that don't work. PE is the only one that doesn't require a lot of effort and is not messy. I love it! Pixie Epoxy is cheap, small sample jar is $1.50 about 1.5 ml. (The site indicates at least 8-10 uses, but I've used mine for over 20 times and still have half!) Full size tube is 10ml only set you back with $7.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Orgasm
rated 3 of 5
supersally 11/24/2008 11:44:00 PM

I got this as a set of the lip gloss and Nail Polish Set. (I bought it for $35 online) I'll do the polish review sometime soon.. What I like about it: Great packaging - the gloss has a black rubber cap (which i love to touch) and durable tube (won't break if dropped from hand). NARS gloss tubes (or any products under them) don't have the luxurious appeals, but simple yet elegant to the naked eyes. It's a strange feeling of understated timeless design. Quality - it's there and it lasts. What I don't like about this product: Color of orgasm - It looked a nice frosty peach with gold shimmers in the tube, but on my pigmented lips, the peach part didn't show. It's not a MLBB if used alone, rather look like I painted sparkles on my lips, tacky at the point. I found that it's better with a lip balm underneath or better yet pair this with a red lip stick or lip stain; this gloss will enhance the lip color. Texture - maybe I'm not the one who fancies long lasting lip gloss. I find this tacky and sticky, but without any liquidy appeal of a gloss. It's not gritty though. Under the wrong light, I look scary wearing this alone. this tube is NOT running liquid (as in a lot of gloss) but a gel like texture in the tube. I guess this is supposed to be in the sheer category for me. I need to take 3 swipes into the tube to get it noticeable on my lips at first. I haven't tried on Orgasm blush, but I've seen that orgasm blush is supposed to be naturally sheer pink/peach. So I guess that's what the orgasm line is about, the gloss too. I just hope this tube had more color packed on (or even make it more liquidy) that it would look good on me.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Tokyo Plum Blossom - Juicy Tubes World Tour by Christopher Kane (2008)
rated 4 of 5
supersally 11/19/2008 1:20:00 PM

Oh, the World Tour collection. I got this off ebay without box for 18 consider that it retails for about $28 in Canada. (Blood suckers!) I love the package cause it's kinda unique - a woman illustrated on the front of tube, kinda dreamy.. It is plummy color with lots of sparkles - all kinds of colors depend under which lighting you are under. I wore this and it looks heavenly under direct light. I like this disco ball look since it is sparkles, not chunky glitters. Not gritty! One lippy off for the STRONG perfumey smell - the first time I put it on, I just had my lunch and I really wanted to get fresh air... Now I'm used to it somewhat also because I use it once in a while. This tube will last you at least a year if you apply it every week. This can work as a breath freshener when I'm out of gum! LOL

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Light Beam After Dark Lipgloss
rated 3 of 5
supersally 11/7/2008 12:12:00 PM

Living in Canada meaning that we get cosmetics more expansive than in the States. I bought one at half price for 5.99 CAD, so it's not too bad. Name: 800 Disco Ball Description: Golden yellow based color with gold sparkles. Applies sheer. Press-down light, not too pratical but a cool gadget in the dark. The smell is faint but I like it, not noticeable on lips. Perfect for purse Pros: Moisturizing - after 2.5 hours of wearing it, I don't find my lips to be drying. Texture - watery texture not runny, smoothly applied. me love~ Cons: Short-lasting - The top watery layer wears off in about an hour. But the shine continues on. Woo! My Verdict: As much as I love this, I find the gloss lacking something to achieve that 5 lippies. I don't mind it's short lasting, since I can't stand lip gloss staying on my lips for too long. Grab this line if you have the extra money, but wait until it's on sale. The original price (11.99 CAD) made me cringe. UPDATE: I reduced one lippie. The gloss is fine. BUT the packaging is poor! After my 5th use, it just can't seem to shut tight, very loose, that I'm afraid the liquid might run out. Turned that was a minor concern-the white retrainer, where the wand reaches inside the tube, came out!! Talk about the horror, of the gloss leaking out and wastful of my money! Rimmel, make the packaging a little better.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - WetSlicks Amazemint
rated 3 of 5
supersally 10/6/2008 8:31:00 PM

To tell the truth, I only tested in store, watches and on my lips. I'm just glad the store I've been to had TESTERS. First off, I swatched the blue one and Slaphappy, they both look similar in color, except the slaphappy with a pinker tone under it than the blue one (I couldn't really see any blue color). Those are shimmer gloss, and I like how it felt on my lips, fresh minty and ooohh. But those just came onto display here and cost around 6 something bucks, so I hesitated. About 2-3 weeks later, they were off the display table and on sale for 4.80 and I thought they were making space for new stuff. Well, that was part right. Just when I started picking out the Blue tub (I really forgot the name) I felt something sticky. Now, my hands were clean at that moment and the gloss was sealed, right? right. EXCEPT the sticky residue came from the BOTTOM of the tube. (it wasnt running, but rather like some candy you've licked and left there) Then, I battled with myself, should I buy it? After all, it's only on for 4.80, what have I gotta lose? I do - my handbag won't be loving it for sure. There's something leaky sticky even when it's SEALED, then if I open it, it would leak like crazy. (No, it wasn't a bad tube, and those tubes arent squished by anything, just a glass pot full of amazemint for sale) Unless Covergirl plan to change its tube design and stop this sticky thing from getting on my hand, considered it's packaged.. I would buy it. It's a shame cause I like the gloss.

Eyes -L'Oreal - HiP Eye Color Extender
rated 4 of 5
supersally 10/5/2008 10:19:00 PM

Well, I bought a set of three of these while online shopping, the total cost is $30 USD (shipping included), so that comes off $10/each. I did have buyer remorse at first but decided to give this a try. Technically speaking, this works as it promises to deliver, 8 hours. I do find that it stays a little longer for me if I wear matte shadow. I have oily eyelids, so having eye shadow not creasing on me for 6 hours, that's really impressive. I have a glittery eyeshadow, and I found that it looked gritty on my eyelids if I put it over this primer. This product can wear for shorter time than 8 hours depending on factors. So, why the four stars? The price is fair, IMO. The product however, does take a lot of blending and practice. Since the applicator is doe foot, it picks up more product than desired. Therefore, it's important if you remember to blend it well, and wipe excessive product near the bottle opening. Otherwise,,,, one time I waited until it dried to put on shadow, but my lids showed white residue chalk-ish film, with a q-tip dipped in water is enough to clean that. So use sparingly! I've heard of the oh-so-famous Urban Decay Primer Potion, but I couldn't bear to shell out $18 CAD for it esp that I read somewhere, that not all of the product can be used due to the packaging design. (if you really want to get your money worth, I saw on youtube that cutting the bottle in half and scoop it out..) So if you are looking for a good primer that does not hurt your budget or something to cling onto eyeshadows so they won't crease as easily. This could be your choice.

Mascara -Neutrogena - Healthy Volume
rated 4 of 5
supersally 8/28/2008 10:19:00 PM

I got this for 6 dollars, so that was a pretty good deal, same as my covergirl lash blast. And I tested this for two weeks, in comparison to the Lashblast I have. The smell: The only mascara I've smelt that actually has a sweet pleasant smell. I'm good with no smell/little smell. Does it work? Kind of. It gives volume, but my eyelashes are straight and I curled them first. I guess it is all about natural look. my lashblast actually did a better job of curling my eyelashes. Three coats of this will get you a more dramatic natural look. I find under three coats is not enough for me. In my opinion, any mascara that opens up my eyes is great in my opnion. I didnt really expect great length or volume, As of today's technology, it's still impossible to get full FALSY lashes if your lashes are born thin. If i did not get this for 6US and for it's nice smell, I would only give this 3.5 edit: I did find this to be more of my liking. Even though, it doesn't give you stick-together-stick-straight lashes, but I do look natural. A great product if you want to look you have no "makeup".

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Mix and mingle [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
supersally 7/28/2008 5:48:00 PM

Yes, I bought it and tried it few times, and wore at least 2 hours. I guess it would be very strange after seeing so many previous bad reviews on this product. Suddenly, I'm here to give a five star. I was hesitant when I saw the bad reviews. Hear me out. I bought the Chatty Cherry one, the model wore this in the ad, so beautiful. I cannot believe people said the color payoff is none to little. I have medium pigmented lips and a little product is the right way to go, since I'm not into loud mouth. Once, I swiped my finger in and got a showy kind of color on me. Bottom line: There is color, I don't know what other people did with it. The color is a lot. Trust me. Then, some complained about stickiness/smell. The smell is very subtle in the tube and on your lips. To me, it's a sweet smell. (I bought Estee lauder's pure color gloss, and the smell is really strong and unpleasant to me) Next, some claimed "sticky or drying", well, if I compare this to my dior gloss 23 CAD, this is nothing to sticky/drying gloss on the high-end market. Mind you, dior gloss is very sticky and has strong fragrance. Overall, pleasant faint smell and not sticky. Pros: Lots of color payoff; non-sticky, non-drying, wearable/buildable Cons: Seems to be melty - hence the name mix n' mingle Regular price a bit high I think what got on people's never is the price, eventually. But I got mine online for 7.00 USD (includes shipping), so I'm not complaining. But if I did buy at the regular price 15 CAD, I would only give this a 4 I did actually achieve the color close to the ad. After all, color tends to look different under lights, but with a lot of experimenting, you can do it!

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Volume Seduction Plumping Gloss
rated 5 of 5
supersally 6/10/2008 8:34:00 PM

Once again, I'm glad I bought it in spite of negative review here. read the label, CAUTION: do NOT use this over chapped, sensitive lips. It's funny how my skin is dry combination sensitive type I do not have a reaction to it, but I cant say this for everyone out there. The tingling sensation doesn't put me off, it was this light cooling sensation at some point - depends on how much you put on, it will vary. It's totally bearable to me. Compared to my sally hansen lip inflation - mind you, that has strong tingling and smell. Often people wonder, does plumpng gloss work? No, they either 1) make your lips appear enlarged by means of shine/shimmer OR 2) make your lips irritated. In this case, Volume seduction fits into the first category. So if any of you expect unrealistic angelina jolie's lips, surgery will do, but I'll stick to plumping gloss. I bought seductively nude, which is like a brown-peachy toned in the bottle. On my pigmented lips, it's MLBB. It gives my lips a flush of light peachy nude color along with right amount of shimmer and shine. The smell is pleasantly undetectable after few minutes of wear, so I find it pleasant. (not that the smell is bad, it smells great!) I don't think it's a good idea to use a large amount on your lips if you got super sensitive/chapped lips. Two dial turns do the thing for me. This gloss is not sticky, compared to others, and it lasts me two hours and more. I don't care for the lasting power anyway. The applicator is also ver useful. The smoothly rounded point contours around the corner and the shape of my lips Pperfectly. So I don't miss a spot, and this doesn't cause a mess when applying-just be sure you don't twist it too many times. Consider that I bought it for 7.50 for this online, I'd say its worth it, although it probably won't last a long time. Oh well, it's one of my HG! Hence, the 4.8 lippy (rounded to five) I've never given a lip gloss this high score before..

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers - Guava Splash
rated 4 of 5
supersally 6/3/2008 3:50:00 PM

Having read many bad reviews of Covergirl Fruit spritzers, I decided to buy this anyway. One thing is that this guava splash is one of the least attacked spritzers, so i'd give it a try. Am I surprised at how good this is! This is extremely moisturizing and is easy to get off as well - I don't find it sticky. The staying power is decent - for the price 5.99 CAD - I like to layer two coats of this gloss and it will last me four hours. if I just put on a thin layer, it last me two hours and doesnt lose a lot of shine. THAT IS if you don't eat greasy food in-between. Personally, I don't want lip gloss to stay for too long anyway. I deducted a lippy, simply because I think the packaging could a be a little better - the end of the tube has some cracks that looked as if it's going to erupt any second. Covergirl, please improve the quality of the tube, making it more durable. And the smell is good, but if I smell it for too long, it has this medicine-y smell. Not unpleasant though. AND one thing that ticks me off is that those tubes are NOT sealed!! The first time I bought one home and found out that someone had used it although it's not MEANT to be a tester. I can't return it to the store - the store has a no-return-on-opened-cosmetic rule. So ladies, next time you go out to buy fruit Spritzers. No, drugstore ladies wouldn't bother to wipe off the evidence, so 100% of time you can tell by opening 'NEW' tube and make sure they are not used!! This tube will last me for some months and I ever run out of it, I am going to collect any color/flavor I like. BTW, is it me or are some of the tubes smell identical? and the grape plash? it smelled like true medicine, not grape at all.. UPDATE 10/02/08: Since I don't use lip product on a daily basis, after a while, the color does separate in the tube. Not that I would mind, but some people may not like it. I just top it off my lip stain or alone or just wipe the clear frost-ish liquid with tissue!

Mascara -Max Factor - Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara
rated 3 of 5
supersally 5/31/2008 12:25:00 AM

This is a fantastic idea, but reality and dream are two different things. It's not like I hate it. Since we don't have Max Factor in Canada, I had to buy online-about 9 US. I am not complaining the price. I bought the 24 karat brown. I like how the dual-ends are placed in a narrow tubes, so that when I take them out, there's not too much excess on the wand. And the wand is short and spiky, thin, not bulky. The usage: I really did not get a grip on this. I guess this takes practice. It's tricky. I like to swipe one coat brown first, I don't wait it to dry and I swipe two/three coats of golden tone onto my lashes. Don't over-apply it, since it will clump! It's better removed with an oily based remover. It takes a lot of tries just swiping the golden coat(s) off using the normal makeup remover. The important thing is: does it work? I applied it, and I was admiring myself in the mirror, with the lamplight opened, I am pleased about the golden flecks at the end of my lashes. However, I went out to my friend's house, and askedd her how my face looks different, she said: 'the eyeshadow?' No, I told her to look under the living room light. After inspecting my face for a couple minutes. She finally admitted that my lashes are a bit golden tinted... GRR No, I don't want to buy another like this no matter how the colors look so tempting on this. I am on the fence though. I don't see how it huts if I just use brown mascara for daily use.

Lip Gloss -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lip Vinyl - Blue Fantasy
rated 3 of 5
supersally 5/30/2008 11:09:00 PM

I am glad I bought this on ebay, which I paid 8 US for it. I smoothed a thin layer on my lips as this pot will last you a long time. It looks like melted chapstick sparkled in blue/green and that comes almost non-exsistence on my lips as I tried putting more on my lips. Kind of thick. I could buy some chapstick for 4 bucks cheaper. I decided to give a three lippy. Those are for it's fun packaging, the brush and lip pot design. Two lippy deducted off of it's lack of blue-ish sparkle effect AND the smell/taste. Sadly, the negatives outweigh the positives. It's a shame while estee lauder makes the most sophisticated lip products in their pure color line, the smell/taste is a MINUS from me.

Lip Gloss -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Crystal Lipgloss with Liquid Prisms - Clear Flash
rated 4 of 5
supersally 5/30/2008 11:00:00 PM

Okay, this is a really cool effect, in the tube, it's like really holographic, blue mother iridescent pearly color. This is unique, so I give Estee lauder a nod for this. You can't find the same effect somewhere else. I bought mine on ebay for 15 bucks. The color looks rosy with blue shine on my lips. I suppose I heard from somewhere that blue lip gloss is supposed to make your teeth whiter. So, I guess judging from the way it looks in the mirror and under the sun, it's partially true. My fault for not sniffing my first tube - and I ordered more later on. I don't like the smell, it's undescribable with plastic-y scent. I'm not a fan. I thought I only got a tube that's been put away for too long. However, a week later, I went to Estee lauder counter and I sniffed estee's new product, Ultra-Light gloss, with the exact same smell/taste. I give it a four for it's packaging, comfort-cy, effect, rare existence. One lippy deducted because of smell/taste. But it's not nauseusly sickening, I guess some people like it. It is moisturizing though. I wouldn't buy this again, since I ordered 12 more without sniffing the tube first... Smell/taste that puts me off the most! The smell is at its height when smelled from the tube. On my lips, it's not strong, but detectable. So here goes my 180 bucks... in tears.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Infallible Lip Colour Duo
rated 4 of 5
supersally 5/27/2008 3:24:00 PM

I am surprised that I bought this despite all those bad reviews on this. Boy, am i glad I bought this! BTW, I bought Mulberry, Surprisingly, I found it to be very close to the shade that is indicated. The color varies under different lightings. On me, it's a rosy color, with no shimmer, just matte, even under broad daylight. First, onto the dryness some people complained about. (as with any lipstick, inside my mouth feels dry after some time happens with any lipstick) My lips are on the dry side most of the time and occasionally my lips are well moisutirzed on its own.(sound weird, huh?) Like some recommended, your lips will look better if you prep it first. Use a new toothbrush to exfoliate for a couple minutes, let your lips dry and smooth on this lip product. THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THIS: 1. Application: It's long doe-foot, and the narrow tube down prevents too much product on the applicator. But it's also up to you to brush some excess off at the opening if you find it too much product in one swipe. It goes so smooth and even on my lips. 2. Quality of product: I own a couple covergirl smoothwear, which I havent tried yet. The difference: the balm of L'oreal infallible is without all that greasiness + uneveness of covergirl ones. L'oreal sure gives quality yet the pleasant texture of what balm should look like. (if you know what i mean, go compare covergirl balm to l'oreal one.) 3. Smart Design: It's the first time I have ever give a product 'packaging quality' a five. One reason is that although the so-called mirror doesn't resemble any material compared to the real mirror, BUT it actually works as well as a real mirror - except smaller. 4. Barely-there Texture: This takes practice, the first couple times I've tried it, it didn't go as well as I thought. Now, I've learnt how to apply it. First, exfoliate your lips - a must if you want smoother texture. Second, smooth it on your lips - if too much product, swipe some near the opening. remember, it's BEST if you don't re-dip the wand into the tube - unsanitary and horrendous-looking. Wait two minutes and apply balm. Voila! 5. Long-Lasting stain-like: I feel this is a great subsititute for LIP STAIN, they share similar genes! I wear this for 4 hours, with drinking, eating and no more lip marks on my cups. It stayed intact. I don't feel like wearing lip gloss/stick for too long, so i tend to scrape it off with remover at about 4 hours. However, i think this will last you 6 hours and more depends on what you eat and drink. But this, as with all other makeups, is not without its fault: I guess if I use this daily, it would empty out in 2-3 months or less. Since the lip color is supposed to be matte, it broadened unflattering texture lines of my lips, boo.... But I'm not really complaining about this though. My lips start to feel dry after 5 hours. This is such a shame, I would love to give it a 4.7, but decide to give it a 4.2 As with the balm, I really love how it smells, not synthetic, something more pleasant. If you do use up the balm too fast, don't worry, find an alternative. I tried it once with Bonnebell smackers in vanilla, and it's just fine, doesnt scrape off much color. Also, do NOT rub/press your lips together while it's drying - it will look awful. CAUTION: If you do eat food infused with abundant of oil (Hello, hash browns!) the lip color will break down, but not to the point where it completely fades. Remember, remove it with an OIL-BASED makeup remover, like l'oreal had instructed on the back of this cool gadget! This doesnt come off with regular oil-free remover, so do read l'oreal manual!! Overall, it shows that L'oreal were actually putting their effort into making a product that is long-lasting AND fashionable. This is my HG when I want to look glamorous! I bought it online for 9.00US, Sweet!

Lip Gloss -Christian Dior - Addict Lip Gloss - A Treat of Lollipops - 271
rated 4 of 5
supersally 5/23/2008 6:53:00 PM

First off, I had this for a year and half. This tube will last you a long time even if you area frequent lip gloss applier since the design doesn't let you get too much product at once. The color is mauvish pink with a lot of shine - as it says on the package - but annoying as time goes. it's too sparkly/runway for my taste. Staying power is good for few hours. cons: very sticky and hard to take off. Even if I did at first, there's this thin silver film left behind. had to scrub that off. Overall, not a bad product, but very expensive!! 23 CAD for a tube. The smell is not lollipop at all, sort of plastic-y pancake topped with syrup smell.
