Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Retractable Blush Brush
sunshine 3/1/2004 2:53:00 PM
This is a great find! It's a retractable and surprisingly soft blush brush that retails for $9.99. I like to throw it in my purse and use it for pressed powder (I hate puffs). The packaging is the signature Sonia Kashuk metallic silver plastic. I recommend this brush to anyone who prefers using a brush for their face powder.

Palettes -Sonia Kashuk - Pretty in Pastels face palette
sunshine 3/1/2004 2:43:00 PM
This has got to be one of the cutest palettes ever. It comes in a shiny pink vinyl Filofax-type organizer that contains a mini-brush set on one side (blush, shadow, spoolie and lip as I recall), plus a dual-ended pencil with a nude pink lipliner at one end and a navy eyeliner at the other, and a palette in the plastic hinged compact on the other side. There are three shades of eyeshadow, all pastel, sheer and shimmery (periwinkle, pale pink and pale lime green), three sheer & shimmery glosses (white-pink, peachier pink and a berry pink) and one slightly shimmery dusty rose. My color descriptions may be a little off, but all the shades are LE. This just screams "SUMMER!" and is just adorable for $19.99. The brushes aren't top quality, but they get the job done, and I won't complain. This is a great purchase for a cool-toned person who prefers a sheer, yet subtly colorful, makeup application. In fact, my only real criticism would be that the eyeshadows may be a little too sheer. Sonia Kashuk also has a similar palette with more bronzy shades.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Full Definition Voluminous
sunshine 2/11/2004 10:14:00 AM
I was expecting a better experience from this. I thought it would be like the regular Voluminous but less clumpy ... I was wrong. It seemed extra thick, like maybe I got an old tube that had dried out a bit, and it smudged terribly by the end of the day (and I don't usually have that problem). The original Voluminous is so much better in my opinion.

Blush -Revlon - Cream Blush - Berry Flirtatious
sunshine 2/9/2004 5:03:00 PM
I really, really like these new cream blushes from Revlon. These and the Super Lustrous lip glosses have renewed my interest in this company. Berry Flirtatious is a beautiful, cool-toned pink that gives me (PPP, NC15) natural, flushed cheeks. It has a cream-to-powder texture that's really easy to blend. The pop-out mirror is cute and nifty as well. I highly recommend these!

Brows -Maybelline - Expert Eyes Twin Brow & Eye Pencils
sunshine 12/3/2003 12:58:00 PM
This is my holy grail brow product (along with clear brow gel). The shade, Charcoal Gray, is perfect for a PPP with near-black hair. It has a very dry finish, so it doesn't smudge, wear off or go on too thickly, and there's no hint of red in the color (a common problem for me). They're also ridiculously inexpensive, and the little pencils are SO portable. This works better than Chanel's Precision Brow Definer and is about 1/10 the price. I would rather use a #2 pencil as an eyeliner, however, so I don't know why this is marketed as such.

Liquid -Jane - Stay Calm Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
sunshine 12/3/2003 12:16:00 PM
I am so sad to write a bad review for this. I really wanted it to work because it's so cheap (and the little bottle is cute). Maybe this works if you have really oily skin, but on me it was the streakiest, chalkiest mess. My skin is pretty normal, but my pores have a tendency to clog. The color (Fair Enough) was actually a good match for my NC15 skin, and that's why this gets two stars instead of just one.

Palettes -Jane - Limited Edition Holiday Eye Palette
sunshine 12/1/2003 4:06:00 PM
I absolutely love this palette. The shades are fantastic; only the bronzy one seems a little out of place with the other cool/neutral shades. I would definitely buy this again and again, which means that the Jane executives will never make another palette. The pigmentation & quality are excellent.

Palettes -Jane - Eye Zing Holiday Palette (2003)
sunshine 12/1/2003 4:04:00 PM

This is awesome! I have a lot of the shadows already, but in my opinion you can never have enough Sungloss. The palette itself is a little clunky & weird, but I'm not complaining for $5.99. The shadows wear better than MAC on me. Such a great buy!

Palettes -Sonia Kashuk - Mostly Mauve Face Palette
sunshine 11/21/2003 3:47:00 PM
Groovynub has done a very good job of describing this palette. The odd thing is that the blush included does not seem to be the same as her regular Pink blush (which I have), although that's what it says on the back of the palette. I actually prefer the one in the palette. The powder has a subtle sparkle & doesn't control shine for very long, the eyeshadows are nice but not wildly exciting, and the lip colors are just all right. They actually look a little too purple for my PPP (NC 15) skin. The crapplicators that come with this set should be thrown away immediately. I gave this a 3 because I only really *love* the blush. I much prefer my Nordies MAC palette for $38.50 - it has 4 shadows, 2 lippies & 2 blushes plus usable shadow & lip brushes. Still, this is a convenient & reasonably priced way to try several colors.

Eye Shadow -Shu Uemura - ME Silver 945 [DISCONTINUED]

This is something that I purchased based solely on the raves in Productville; otherwise, I'd never think to purchase a color that looks so dark & shimmery in the pan. (For reference, I'm a MAC NC15/Stila A/BB Porcelain with dark, dark hair & hazel eyes.) I'm glad I listened to Productville! This shadow has amazing blendability and versatility, depending on how you apply it. Thanks for all the great reviews that convinced me to buy this!

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Cute [DISCONTINUED]
sunshine 11/10/2003 2:32:00 PM
This is a great matte blush for PPPs. I'm NC15 and usually wear cool tones, and it gives a nice, healthy flush. It's very similar to Well Dressed, but without the shimmer, if that helps anyone. The Sheertone formula is great.

Mascara -MAC - Fibre Rich Lash Mascara
sunshine 11/10/2003 2:27:00 PM
Wow, I'm very impressed by this mascara! Yes, the wand looks like it fell in the garbage disposal, but it gives incredibly long lashes. It doesn't thicken too much, but that's fine with me. Works well with my Shu curler. It's about twice as expensive as my L'Oreal Lash Out (when I get it on sale, LOL), but it gives such a dramatic result that it's worth it.

Fragrances -Bulgari - Omnia
sunshine 11/3/2003 4:14:00 PM
I. Love. This. Fragrance. I love it! It's spicy and sultry but not overpowering. Quietly sexy. Magazines always refer to its white chocolate note, but I definitely detect sandlewood - just not in an obnoxious, overgrown hippy sort of way. The bottle (if you can call it a bottle) is so beautiful and unique, truly a work of art. I think I may have finally found my signature scent.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colorjuice - Maiden in Raisin
sunshine 9/19/2003 4:11:00 PM
I'm surprised, but I really like this gloss! In the tube it looks really warm-toned and brown, but I got such a deal (2 for $3.99) that I said what the heck. I'm glad I did! It's kind of a sparkly nude on my pigmented lips, but it doesn't wash me out or make my PPP skin look sallow. The sparkles are very fine and multi-colored, and the result is beautiful. I'm just not crazy about the scent.

Liquid -Sonia Kashuk - Hydro-Tint SPF 15 [DISCONTINUED]
sunshine 7/3/2003 12:41:00 AM
This is a fabulous product. I am the mother of an impatient toddler, so multitasking is a necessity. It's so great to find a moisturizer with broad-spectrum SPF that isn't too greasy or too dark for my skin. I have the light shade, and it looks a little dark in the bottle but blends out nicely. It also gives light (but not non-existent!) coverage. I can't believe it's only $9.99! IMHO this far surpasses Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer. If you have fairly good skin that's not too oily or too dry, get thee to Target! Update 11/21/03: Has anyone else noticed that the price has been increased to $11.99? I'm glad I got mine on sale for $8.50!
