Cleansers -Neutrogena - Fresh Foaming Cleanser
sueyellowjam 6/20/2010 5:36:00 AM
Got this product initially in a hotel. I was skeptical with Neutrogena facial cleanser since they always seemed too harsh. I normally use waterproof mascara, and I surprisingly discovered that this cleanser, unlike any other I've ever used, removes all traces of the mascara! I further discovered in later occasions how effectively it cleanses. After a week of traveling on the road in the summer, that usually means after a week my skins starts showing the signs - break-outs for example, due to all the sun screen and perhaps insufficient cleaning. I packed this during a trip and used it all week and after a week, my skin stayed clear, was not dry, I was thrilled! I ran out of it and discovered that disappointingly, they don't carry this over in Europe. So the first chance I was out of Europe, I bought myself a bottle of this and I am still very happy with it!

Mascara -Maybelline - Waterproof XXL
sueyellowjam 9/21/2009 4:08:00 PM
This mascara does widen my eyes a lot. I have dense and dark eye lashes, but unfortunately, it's sitting straight and pointing downward. So I usually curl them first, and then applied a mascara. This mascara holds the curl up quite well, even after a long day my lashes are still perky curling up. It also stays put quite well, without smudges. I don't mind the primmer, only problem is, it takes a bit longer to apply than normal mascara, for a girl like me who only have less than 5 min to "do" her face every morning, this is quite a bit of challenge. :) I don't like the packaging. It's a double-sided mascara so the applicator is shorter it's rather difficult to apply some certain angle which is quite annoying. Nevertheless, the results are good. I would still consider buying it again.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Turbo Boost Waterproof
sueyellowjam 9/21/2009 3:52:00 PM
Overall, this mascara was not bad in terms of adding volume and length to my lashes. It looks very smooth on the lashes and doesn't clump up despite multiple applications. Nevertheless, I'd be looking for something new since it smudges after a few hours despite being "waterproof", as so many here has already noted. I'm tired of looking like a panda everyday towards the evening or in the afternoon that I happen to take a nap. So I'll be looking elsewhere... unfortunately.

Treatments (Eye) -La Roche Posay - Active C Eye Cream
sueyellowjam 9/8/2009 3:16:00 PM
I repurchased this product again and again, hoping to see some difference. I don't have wrinkles around my eyes (yet), but some laugh lines underneath. I used it hoping that the vitamin C would slowly improve the firmness around my eyes. After over a year, no difference at all. I used it only once a day at night, during the day time I used a different cream which brightens my under eye area. Just a while ago I ran out of the cream and was using this active C cream day and night, after 2 weeks or so the skin around my eyes started to look a bit worse because the cream itself is not moisturizing enough. So I ran out to get my other cream and problem gone. Plus, since the cap is not air-tight, watch out for any color-changing indicating oxidation of the vitamin C to an inactive form.

Moisturizers -Cellex-C - Seline-E
sueyellowjam 9/8/2009 3:07:00 PM
Got this product as a sample. Mineral oil is listed on the ingredient list, yuck! This's not for people with oily skin. I used it and the same day I had 3 break-outs scattering here and there. I guess it's too tich for me. The smell is strong and overpowering. Not for me.

Moisturizers -Skinceuticals - Renew Overnight Oily
sueyellowjam 11/2/2008 3:50:00 PM
After reading all these good reviews and seeing that it has earned a pretty high ranking, I decided to try it. And oh I so wanted it to work for me. However, the second day after I used it, out of nowhere I had an angry pimple between my eyebrowns when I got up in the morning. I didn't think much about it, till the next one shows up, and then the next one. After that I examined my skin closely and found out that my pores were severely clogged with bunch of yucky white heads. Ewww... I used it for a week and now it's just sitting there. I've got high hopes, but no, won't be buying this again.

Eye Makeup Remover -Clinique - Take The Day Off Eye Makeup Remover
sueyellowjam 8/28/2008 1:38:00 PM
This is the best makeup remover I've used, but then, I don't use that much makeup and don't have extensive experience on other makeup remover. I used water-proof mascara everyday. This can easily get off the mascara, all of it, without leaving any trace behind. I have used a few other brands before but nothing close to this one. All the others I have tried took longer to remove the mascara, and still leave some traces behind. Nevertheless, Take the Day Off is rather greasy compared to the other brands - and hence onl 4 lippie. It doesn't really bother me since a face wash normally follows the makeup removal, and the greasiness is gone after face wash.

Tinted Moisturizer -Clinique - Moisture Sheer Tint [DISCONTINUED]
sueyellowjam 8/26/2008 4:22:00 PM
This tint goes on very smoothly, providing a very light coverage, allowing your natural color and freckles to show through, but nicely evens out your skin tone. You face looks very smooth after applying that. It is oil free, but as usual independent of what I use I need to blot a few hours later. The color stays put after blotting. Nevertheless I took 1 lippie off because the sunscreen is only SPF 15, I'd use it only in winter. In the days when it's sunny outside or during the warm sunny days, SPF 15 is hardly sufficient to give a good protection to the skin. So sigh, I will be happy to buy it again and again if Clinique would improve the sunscreen factor.

Cleansers -Clearasil - Total Control Deep Pore Cream Cleanser
sueyellowjam 7/6/2008 3:17:00 PM
I was a loyal user off clearasil cream cleanser. A few years ago I couldn't use any cleanser, for some reason my skin was always tight after cleansing with any other cleanser ranging from cheap to expensive. This was the only one that cleased my skin well without leaving it taught. I didn't have problematic skin or acne so I can't say how effective this cleanser is against these problems. Eventually I think it was discontinued at least in Europe so I moved on and managed to find some other cleanser that worked for me. :)

Treatments -Murad - Acne Spot Treatment
sueyellowjam 7/4/2008 3:13:00 PM
This product did nothing for me. I bought it to help with the occasional break-out. This product is by far the most ineffective product, not only it didn't do anything to improve the condition, the next day I found a few more zits around the area I used it, oil-filled. I thought that was coincident, tried it again a few times with the same results every single time. It's a no, never for me.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios XL SPF 60 Fluide Extreme
sueyellowjam 7/4/2008 2:55:00 PM
I've been using this for about a month after reading that Mexoryl is a broad spectrum sunscreen which protects against UVA and UVB. The high protection of SPF 60 rang an alarm in my head, because I'm allergic to a certain ingredients in sunscreen and usually something higher than 30 smells trouble to me, even those labeled "for sensitive skin" such as Neutrogena Dry Touch. I get rashes all over. The only SPF 50 protection I'm ok with so far was the Bioderma. To be cautious, I stopped by the store twice to try it out. I didn't believe it the first time I didn't come home with a bad reaction. I thought that was because I didn'g apply enough. So I went went back the 2nd time and this time applied more products on my arm. I was pleasantly surprise to find that my skin was completely ok with that! Hooray. I went ahead and bought the fluid extreme. I'm happy with the sun protection. I was on vacation twice using this everyday. Once in August in Rome - extremely warm with intense heat - for 1 week. With its excellent UVA and UVB protection. I came home neither with burn nor much darker skin! As a sunscreen backed with scientific proof and recommendations from dermatologist, I trust that this is a good product. The reason why it is a 4. I have very oily skin, If you care much about how you look (measured in terms of shininess) then this is perhaps not the right product for you. If I do not blot regularly, a few hours later my face is s-h-i-n-y, the clear greasy film is so obvious from the mirror. Alone with tissue paper I could see how much of grasiness I got on the tissue paper! I have to have a tissue or blotting paper with me at all times when using this sunscreen. Not surprising knowing the Mexoryl XL is not a water-soluble chemical. Well, so far I'll still keep buying it, mostly because the product offers great protection and there's only that many sunscreen with high protection that my skin doesn't protest against. When using this I blot regularly and apply powder on my face. Will keep using it until I find something that I can rate 5.

Skincare - Face -The Body Shop - Vitamin C Plus Time Release Capsules [DISCONTINUED]
sueyellowjam 4/25/2008 3:07:00 PM
I'm disappointed at this product. The idea of time release vitamin C is definitely good, unfortunately, I find this just a marketing strategy. Studies showed that vitamin C remains in your skin for up to 24 hours upon application. So why do we need it to be "time release" anyway? Highly disappointed. At a price of 1 euro/capsule (bought it at 28 euro for 28 capsules) how much ative components am I actually getting? A glance at the ingredient list tells you the thruth, the first ingredient is cyclomethicone, followed by polysilicone-11, then ascorbic acid (vitain C). I'm paying money mostly for cyclomethicone, which is occlusive and clogs pores. Definitely not a smart move. The liquid itself is a light golden color. I found it very strange that there were very tiny little dark orange particles suspended in the liquid. I thought perhaps they were the oxidized form of vitamin C, which is no longer active. If this was true, then I was just putting mainly silicone polymer on my face, yuck! The positive points include the fact that the liquid itself adsorbs very nicely and leaves no trace on your skin. It feels instantly smooth - not surprising at all, given all those dimethicone in there. This stuffs makes your face feels silky smooth immediately, but it's definitely not healthy for your skin in long term because it prevents your skin from breathing. I first had an eye on the Cellex C high potency serum but I thought before investing on such high price product I should try a cheaper version. But yuck, a cheaper version of 1 euro / capsule of dimethicone is not my idea of spending money smartly. I ditched it and spent my money instead on Cellex C. One final note, after applying it religionsly for 3 weeks, no difference! Will never buy it again.

Moisturizers -Shiseido - Pureness Moisturizing Gel (Oil-Free)
sueyellowjam 4/14/2008 4:14:00 PM
I bought this a few years back while I was having a lot of problems with my skin, the texture was rough and packed with dead skin cells and red bumps popping up one after another. My face felt way too oily sometimes and yet tight. Complete loss of balance. I tried many different moisturizers at this time thinking that it might help. Since this product was advertised oil-free and light, I tried it. This is a clear gel which goes on your skin smoothly and it feels very light. It is great for people with oily skin. After using you won't have the greasy feeling of normal cream moisturizer. I stopped using it after a while since there were red bumps popping up here and there. I couldn't really tell if it was due to the moisturizer or something else. But like I said, I was having a lot of problems with my skin and red bumps were a regular business for me. I stopped using it anyhow just to minimize the risks. Eventually I got my problems solved with microdermabrasions and obagi skin care. My complexion turned from the dullst to completely beautiful. I looked radiant even without any makeup! This gel was hence just stashed away. I recently found it in my cosmetic graveyard and brought it with me to the office. Whenever I feel a bit dryness or peeling here and there I use it on my face. I haven't had any problems with it. It does a good job in smoothing away any dry patches and flakiness before I go into any meeting so that's great! Nevertheless, due to my limited use of this product I can't judge it that well so I'm giving it a fair 3 lippie.

Shampoo -Frederic Fekkai - Sensitive Scalp Shampoo
sueyellowjam 4/12/2008 5:47:00 AM
I don't quite remember why I bought this shampoo, as my scalp was not that sensitive. It is in any case, not a bad shampoo, after washing it my hair feels soft. It lathers up nicely and smells very good. There're other shampoos out there that do exactly this to my hair. It's very pricey, especially in Europe, it costs more than in the US. It's a nice shampoo and has a nice smell, but nothing particular or special about it - but at this price... Nay, I think I'll spend my money somewhere else!

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
sueyellowjam 4/12/2008 5:29:00 AM
Got this in a small jar together with other skin care products from Philosophy as a gift. I didn't like it. I didn't find it particularly moisturizing, or better than what I was using before. It left my T-zone a bit oilier than usual. The smell was AWFUL, mind you. I like products without fragrances. I can tolerate some smell but this was just simply extreme. I felt like it I was in a hospital and putting on some medicinic cream when using it. The packaging was ok, although after sometime the text on the bottle sort of "melted away". I found out later that when you touched the jar when there's still some trace of the cream on your fingers, which is normal since you were just using it with your fingers, you slowly wipe the text away. This happens to all the bottles and jars I got from Philosophy from the gift set. I won't buy this again, there're better things out there.
