Every year in September my skin turns to crocodile leather and stays that way all winter despite all the topical steroids and alleged eczema cures. I noticed the change coming a few weeks ago headed straight to the dermatologist to stuff my purse with prescriptions for the usual cocktail of minimally effective steroids. I tried this product for a few weeks (3 to be exact) before formally reviewing this product. I put a dot of this product on all my crocodile points then rub in my skin for a thin layer of protection. It doesn't sting despite the perfume in the product, but during the first week or so, my parched skin would guzzle down this product and it would feel just as rough, dry, and tight as if I used nothing. However..... After using this for a week and a half....OMG, all the croc-skin has disappeared and has been replaced with soft, supple, baby-soft glowing skin. No makeup, no BB cream, just skin that looks 5 years younger. My winter routine consists of washing daily with the Equate Cetaphil dupe (because I'm frugal), weekly exfoliation with the Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub, and daily use of my garbage prescription (Topicort) under this product. I use this product both in the AM and PM because I'm desperate to keep my winter croc-skin at bay. It's working! I would prefer this product to be in a squeeze tube because I'm concerned about germs now that I follow makeupalley...but actually, I'm not THAT concerned since I'm the only person using it and my hands are clean when I apply it. It's a keeper.

BB Cream -Smashbox - Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35

It does what it says. It blends well with my skin. It gives a good amount of coverage...but it's so darn expensive for what you get. You don't have to use a lot of this stuff. A drop of cream and apply with a stippling brush gives enough coverage for me. I do have to touch up especially noticeable blemishes with concealer. I would buy it again, but I'll keep an eye out for dups.

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay - All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
rated 5 of 5

We took a 7-day Carribean cruise to 4 different islands in July. UD All Nighter held my makeup firmly in place in the hot, humid Carribean weather then throughout the night. It makes me wish I had bought the full size version instead of the small one. Expensive, but worth every single dime!

Scrubs -Aveeno - Skin Brightening Daily Scrub

This has got to be the MOST AMAZING scrub I’ve ever used!!! I use this scrub 4-5X per week, but it is gentle enough for daily use IMHO. It does not strip my skin, leave it feeling “tight”, or sting when I use it. I follow it with Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion (yeah, I know, old school, but it works for me). My face is literally GLOWING! My skin has not looked this good since….well…actually…ever. I can’t wait to try the rest of the line!

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Medium/Deep
rated 2 of 5

I really tried to like this product. I waited 2 months to review it because I was looking for that one saving grace, but it never happened. I give it a 2 overall because of the high SPF protection, the buck stops there. This BB cream does nothing to help my makeup stay in place. The color is still too light for me (NC 45), but it oxidizes and eventually matches my skin. The problem is my sensitive, eczematous skin flares every time I use this and I'm left with skin the texture of sand paper and tight as a glove. It takes about 3 days of piling on moisturizer and no makeup to get my skin back to normal. I stopped wearing makeup for a couple weeks and enjoyed clear, soft, smooth skin. We went to the beach for Memorial Day weekend and I put a little of this BB cream on my face without makeup...what a mistake! My suspicions were confirmed. It's not the weather, it's not the sun, it's this cream! I hate to waste it, so maybe I'll use it on my arms and legs in the Islands this summer.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
rated 5 of 5
suchaclassylady 4/29/2012 4:12:00 PM

Love it, love it, LOVE IT! I have hyperpigmentation and eczema in the most inconvenient places on my face. Sales consultants usually point me to waxy, heavy, concealers and tell me to use it all over my face. I did that for years until I decided to try MAC. The consultant matched skin perfectly and showed me how to use a stippling brush to achieve the coverage I need without it looking heavy. It blends like a dream and it's buildable. I've recently added Studio Sculpt concealer to my regimine to preserve my liquid foundation. I will review that later as the jury is still out on that. This makeup does not dry me out, crack during the day, or sink into my pores. I love the gel consistency and it is buildable. I would recommend this to a friend.

Moisturizers -MAC - Strobe Cream

I love this stuff. It gives my dry, flaky skin a beautiful glow, a little goes a long way. It doesn't break out my eczematous skin, sting, burn, or dry out during the day. I'm still looking for cheaper substitues though.

Gives my eyes a nice pop of shimmer without being too teeny-bopper. It's a good everyday color.

Foundations -Cover FX - COVER FX
rated 2 of 5
suchaclassylady 4/23/2012 1:50:00 PM

This has the consistency of a crayon. It's hard to apply and hard to blend. I gave it a 2 because it has good coverage, but my face felt dry after applying it. I prefer something that melts into my skin instead of having to use a spackle, melt it in my hand and rush to apply before it cools. Too much work for the price.

Eye Primer -Bare Escentuals - bareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer
rated 1 of 5
suchaclassylady 4/21/2012 3:32:00 PM

What a hot, ashey mess! I had a hideous white caste all around my eyes. I looked like a racoon picture negative. This made my eyes look 25 years older and the primer would not come off without eye makeup remover. Not for darker skin.

I love this stuff! It doesn't fade, applies easily, and the pigment is just right. I love the price point and will certainly buy more colors!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 4 of 5

I get a little glittery fall out under my eyes. I like the colors, though some look ashy on my NC-45 skin. The pigment is concentrated and amazing, so be careful the application. Great starter kit for neutral shades. I will buy again.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Brown Smolder #740
rated 2 of 5
suchaclassylady 4/21/2012 3:13:00 PM

I can barely see the pigment on NC-45 skin, even when using a good primer. Maybe I'll try this on my eyebrows instead. Goes to show, you get what you pay for.

Blush -NARS - Taj Mahal

Highly recommended. This is the best blush ever! It's pricey, but the color is so concentrated that it will last for quite some time. Worth every penny. It is everything they say it is plus some.
