A nice wholesome color for my NC-20 skin, makes me look like I'm sweeter than I am. Packaging breaks too soon though.

Blush -MAC - Cream Color Base in Fresco

This makes me looks healthy and dewy, perfect color for my NC-20 complexion, the packaging sucks bad though. The clear part pops out every time I try to open it due to the the black ring cracking. I've superglued it and it eventually breaks again. Maybe another example of MAC volume of product outliving their packaging and expiration dates!

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Medium
rated 5 of 5
stuntmom 4/14/2005 4:30:00 AM

I've bought dozens of these by now and I love the way it smoothes out oilys and makes me feel like I actually have good skin. I have found that oil blotting sheets by Allison Rafaelle once or twice a day in place of powdering every time are the best combo for keeping me from looking like a powdered doughnut ( I have super oily skin and it's better to absorb than to add more powder everytime ). I don't like that the powder shatters if dropped and I have to keep my puff upside down in the compact to prevent beading of the powder surface from all that oil, I also replace puff at least once for each compact.

Shampoo -Nature's Gate - Rainwater herbal awapuhi shampoo for fine and limp hair
rated 5 of 5
stuntmom 4/14/2005 4:22:00 AM

I bought this in bulk at the health food store and am thrilled at the quality for the price. I used to be a fancy, salon product only kind of girl, trying the cheap natural stuff periodically and going back to the expensive stuff when I was dissatisfied- this stuff has changed my views forever. Results as good as Bumble but 1/4 of the price! Love it!

Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica - very emollient body lotion - daily shade formula
rated 4 of 5

Luckily they just updated the packaging, it was so bad before I wouldn't have repurchased. It smells subtle and vanilla- like, very hydrating and is the perfect SPF for everyday coverage. I'd definitely step it up to 30 SPF for a full day in the sun but for an hour here and there this intentionally- vampire white- lady loves it.

Conditioner -Alba Botanica - Very Emollient Leave-In Conditioner

This is the first non-salon bought conditioner that I've repurchased. Good smell, consistency and really tames my fly-away hair. it replaced Bumble's leave in conditioner and it costs a third of the price!

Sunscreen -MD Formulations - total protector spf 30
rated 5 of 5

I've been hooked on this sunscreen for almost 7 years. Despite my early sun- worshipper days (that ended 15 years ago) I still get carded for alcohol at 31 years old. I credit this product for keeping my skin looking young. The consistency is great and makes me feel more confident to leave the house when I'm only wearing it and no makeup- evens out texture and coloring a bit. I should say that I use all MD products, lots of glycolic acid and never even sit on my porch without sunscreen on my face or a hat on.b I live in fear that they'll stop making this one day.

Misc Beauty Tools -Alison Raffaele - Blotting Tissues
rated 4 of 5

I really like the way these absorb my abundant oil and the price isn't bad but the packaging needs some improvement. It takes too long to get one out instead of two or three. Edit: They've updated their packaging and it's much better! Now my only complaint is I have to go into San Francisco to get them (one hour away) or mail order. They really are worth it though.

Skincare - Face -MD Formulations - Illuminating Serum
rated 5 of 5

I got a sample of this that has lasted ten days but it seems to be really expensive if you actually pay for it. On the up side, it really sped up my acne scar healing time to seem almost miraculous. I'm using it in conjunction with M.D.'s sensitive skin cleanser, facial lotion and illuminating mask (every other day) and I actually left the house with only translucent powder for the first time in months! I'll drop the cash to have skin this even and clear!

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
rated 1 of 5
stuntmom 1/10/2005 4:24:00 PM

I used ProActiv for two years with pretty good results( still breaking out but seemingly less) but in the last 6 months I was breaking out so bad it had me questioning why I was paying for this elaborate system and using so many products when my skin was looking so bad. I stopped using ProActiv and started using an Ayurvedic, sandalwood soap and Nelson's acne gel both from the health food store and am pleased with how much clearer and smooth my skin is. ProActiv also was pulling some shady stuff with their billing (double-charging, sending me to collections because they owed ME money- they still owe me $68 they keep saying they'll send it and haven't yet). Also, never trust any acne medicine that tells you that diet doesn't affect acne ! Cutting out caffeine, smoking, fried foods and excess sugar made a real difference in my skin.

Treatments -Nelson's Homeopathic Products - Acne Gel
rated 5 of 5
stuntmom 1/10/2005 4:11:00 PM

After using ProActiv for two years with good results, my skin grew intolerant to it and was stuck in the breakout/dried out cycle. I switched to an Ayurvedic sandalwood soap followed by the Nelson's acne gel and am impressed by the improvement in my skin. I'm not dry and the pimples that I've had are tiny and clear up on their own without needing to be extracted. I'm two weeks into my first tube and loving it. Edit: I loved the idea of homeopathic skincare but it turns out for me there is no substitute for glycolic acid and regular facials- I cleared up instantly and my scaring is fading so fast! I'm back to M.d. Formulations.
