Sunscreen -Korres - Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream SPF 30
strawberrycharms 5/29/2009 12:49:00 AM
I LOVE this sunscreen! Like a lot of others, I got it as a sample in the Sun & Safety kit from Sephora. I've heard a lot of good things about Korres so I tried it first and loved it so much that I haven't had a chance to use anything else from the kit yet. It smells AMAZING (the watermelon smell is dead on but not at all overpowering), doesn't give my skin any problems, and I appreciate the fact that it goes on pretty white so I can see what/where I missed. It doesn't stay white forever; I think you need to give it 3-5 minutes for it to vanish. I agree that it's really thick and makes it kind of hard to blend in, but I'm happy to put up with that given how great I think the whole thing is. This is my every day sunscreen. I would not wear it to the beach or in direct sunlight for long periods of time, only because the SPF isn't high enough for me. I switch to Cetaphil's SPF 50 moisturizer for those occasions. Still, I can't get enough of this stuff.. I hope Korres comes out with more watermelon products!

Mascara -Mary Kay - Lash Lengthening

I officially cannot live without this mascara. If you're looking for show-stopping volume or the false lashes look then this may not be for you. But if you want longer, perfectly flirty lashes then this is absolutely perfect. A friend of mine was selling MK products to put herself through school, and I decided to give this a try to help her out. I'm really glad I did, because no other mascara has ever given my eyelashes the winged-out delicate look that this mascara does. I'll definitely re-purchase when/if I run out. The only down side to this mascara is that you have to know a demonstrator to get it. Some can be quite pushy so it's not a problem if you have a friend or relative who sells, but could be a hassle to get if you are working with some unknown demonstrator who just wants to hit a quota.

Sunscreen -Cetaphil - UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50
strawberrycharms 5/29/2009 12:36:00 AM
I grabbed this product at the drugstore before checking MUA for the reviews, and honestly I'm glad that it happened that way. I probably would have skipped it if I had read the reviews here first. To me, this sunscreen isn't thick. I have no problem getting it to blend in and although it does leave me a little whiter and my face feels a little slippery right after I've put it on, it all dissipates quickly. I was surprised at how smooth and soft my face was by the end of the day! This probably isn't something that I'd wear every day, just because I'm not overly fond of the smell (like typical sunscreen, nothing offensive) and I prefer the Korres watermelon sunscreen scent more. But I will absolutely use this whenever I go to the beach or have to spend a lot of time outside in direct sunlight, and wouldn't hesitate to repurchase if I ran out. I'm extremely glad Cetaphil made a moisturizer with such a high SPF; before I only had Shiseido to turn to for an SPF that was 50 or above and I hated it.

Moisturizers -Shiseido - Bio-Performance Super Restoring Cream

UGH! I HATE this cream. I received two packets as a sample and I didn't even finish using the first one before I threw it out. The first time I tried it out it didn't sink in well at all - it just kind of sat on my face and left a greasy feeling. After the second night I used it I woke up to a horrible smattering of bumps and painful little pimples on my chin. There was nothing wrong with my skin prior to this and now I'm livid! Thank heavens I didn't actually pay for this junk - $96 for less than 2 ounces is ridiculous. I wish there were an option to give a 0 on this..

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear for lips in Juicy Apple

I love this color, bought it twice so far! It's a great sheer pop of red, and while I've never worn it over lipstick I imagine it would enhance it quite nicely. Like some of the other reviewers, I HATE the smell of Clinique glosses but it doesn't stop me from buying them again and again.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips Diamond - April

I like this color on a lot. It's not overpowering but I think it's one of the few glosses that comes out true to the tube color. However, I'm not fond of the plumping qualities (I hate the way it makes my lips feel - unnaturally cold and will numb your tongue if you somehow get it on there). I also think there's a little too much glitter, and they're stickier than I prefer. I also really hate the applicator brush - I've already got a few broken bristles from where they snagged on the way back into the tube. I would buy this again when I run out, but only because I'm so fond of the color.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear for Lips Intense Sparkle in Sun Burst

This is a lg staple for me. I have two tubes and would be heartbroken if it were ever discontinued. I'm not fond of the way Clinique lip glosses smell to me (somewhat chemically) but it doesn't bother me to the point of not wearing it.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips Diamond - Celeste
strawberrycharms 3/8/2009 1:33:00 AM
I tried these on my hand at Sephora (sorry, no matter how many clean & disposable applicators they offer no community sampler is going anywhere near my face) and really like the color. I bought this color & April. I didn't realize they were lip plumpers until I had them on - I personally do NOT like how they (or any other plumpers, for that matter) make my lips feel. Unnaturally cold and heaven forbid it if you get it on your tongue. It did indeed plump up my lips but I feel like the Celeste color leaves me with a very glassy look - almost like I have silver foil on my lips in some light. I don't get this effect with April, so I think it needs to be paired with a very matte, darker lipstick. I also think that this has a little bit TOO much glitter in it - it's really obvious on. I don't think I'd buy this particular color again when/if I run out of it.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
strawberrycharms 3/8/2009 1:11:00 AM
Add me to the list of those who love and adore this product. I stopped wearing eyeshadow for a long time because I couldn't get past the creasing issue. I kept reading rave reviews about UDPP so I picked up a bottle from Sephora and voila! Eyeshadow stayed on without any problems for a full 12 hours, consistently looking like I had just put it on. In fact, it only came off because I took it off - I have no doubt that this stuff would've kept on working. My only complaint is the applicator - I got a bit on my eyelashes when I was putting it on and it wouldn't come off without the assistance of makeup remover (water wouldn't take it off). It can also be hard to cover up with mascara. So apply carefully unless you're after that sickly beige eyelash look! ;)

Mascara -Clinique - Lash Doubling Mascara
strawberrycharms 2/26/2009 6:29:00 PM
While this mascara looked good on I could not get my eyelashes to stop sticking together whenever I blinked (I had just a dab on my lower lashes). Even after 30 minutes they were still trying to stick to one another. This was a gwp but I won't be purchasing it.. I can't get past the sticking and while something like She Laq might solve my problem there are other mascaras that work just as well and don't stick.
