Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Pleasures
rated 5 of 5

I am surprised when I see negative reviews of Estee Lauder's Pleasures. This is probably my most favorite fragrance ever. I have been on the hunt for my signature scent since 7th grade and I believe this is it. Which does surprise me (being that it's 'just' a cosmetics companys fragrance) when I've tried everything from Chanel to Juciy Couture and everything in between. My mom wore Pleasures while I was growing up. In class recently, the girl next to me smelled SO GOOD and I immediately remembered the scent and knew it was Pleasures. Sure enough, it was. Her words exactly were "I always go back to Pleasures..." and I think that says alot. I knew I had to have it. I feel so confident and feminine wearing Pleasures. It isn't and offensive perfume. When I smell this on other people, I never think "omgsh their perfume smells so good", or I never even think 'perfume' when I smell this on other people. I simply think they just smell good. They smell clean, fresh, and right out of the shower. It is a floral, but a clean floral. I don't get the whole "bathroom spray" that other reviewers are talking about. I think thats absurd, actually. As for reviewers complaining about the 'blah' bottle...you get what you pay for. The bottle isn't 3 different colors with intricate cuts and a lid the size of my palm. If you want an intricate, elaborate bottle..you pay for one. This fragrance is affordable compared to alot of perfumes out there. $30 will get you .5oz, $55 for 1.7oz, and $75 for 3.4oz. The .5oz is perfect for your handbag. And it LASTS!!! It lasts ALL DAY LONG. Pleasures smells so amazing, every time I spray it on my wrist I have to inhale my wrist. I can't get enough of it. Pleasures is definitely 'Signature Scent' worthy.

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash Volume Mascara

I am surprised at the bad reviews for this product, and I normally use YSL or Dior mascaras-- I am VERY picky and particular in my mascaras. I bought this after finding out my friend used this (her eyelashes looked amazing). I usually hate these new little plasticy brushes, but this one is the only one I like. Separates, lengthens, adds volume, and holds curl. I love the hot pink bottle, I think it was probably $6 or &7, Im not sure but somewhere around there. I was about to buy my YSL mascara for $30 but decided to try this instead and am SO glad I did and saved over $20!

Styling Products -Sebastian - Potion 9

I have shoulder length hair that is medium-coarse, but I dont have tons of it. I was simply looking for a product that would make my hair more manageable but not weigh it down. And this is it! If you have specific needs, this probably isnt it. But it is a simple styling product that is lightweight and does its job. I blow dry and straighten my hair everyday, and this makes it look really healthy. Not greasy or heavy at all, and you can tell when you pump it on to your hand that it is a very light product. Before I was using sebastians whipped waves (i believe that is the correct name), even though I straighten my hair, but I found that product to be waaay too heavy and very greasy. I could barely use a dime size without looking like i forgot to wash my hair. Im not sure what size I own, but its a nize size bottle and I think it was around $14, which to me is not bad at all. I also love the pump dispenser and the smell is wonderful. It smells just like a salon.

Lipstick -MAC - Lipstick in Plink
rated 3 of 5
stonefoxxx 1/10/2009 1:03:00 AM

Very very subtle. When applied, it basically just gives your lips a sheen..not a frosty sheen, but a glossy sheen. Not much color at all either. I reach for this when I go to class because it doesnt look like your wearing anythng but some lip balm. I wouldnt recommend this because it doesnt do much.

Lipstick -MAC - Frenzy Lipstick
rated 3 of 5

I cant wear this on its own, too brown. I own a Jemma Kidd lipstick in "A-List" and it is too milky pink/beige so i never wore it. But layer these two together and I get the shade I wanted-- a bronzy, silvery, pink. So if you own Frenzy and arent happy with it, try layering it with another lipstick you own, preferrably one that almost looks like a pinkish concealer and the colors gorgeous! I wouldnt buy again because on its own i dont like it. I just make it work because i didnt want it to go to waste, and this way, my Jemma Kidd doesnt either.

this smells AWFUL! i recieved it as a sample gift from sephora. i chose this over three other options because i had heard so many good things about it. i was so shocked by the smell because it seems it gets lots of raves and good reviews. the smell is this overpowering plastic, almost like melted hot glue. smells very artificial and very strong. as soon as i put it to my skin and got a wif of it, i washed my face immediately. my cat was on my vanity and even gagged..

Fragrances -Chanel - Coco Mademoiselle
rated 4 of 5

I never thought I would seriously consider buying a Chanel fragrance (they all seem to be very spicy and for "older" women). However, this ones different. This fragrance makes me feel mysterious, sexy, classy, and chic. It is spicy and sweet at the same time. All you need is one spray. The lasting power is what really got me. It lasts foooorreverrr. Lasts all day. Probably the longest-lasting fragrance I've come across.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Iconic High Definition Lash Curler Mascara
rated 2 of 5
stonefoxxx 12/20/2008 12:00:00 PM

DISAPPOINTING! I bought this mascara after my friend raved about it and how it looked like she was wearing false lashes. WHAT A MISTAKE! I could literally count my lashes after using this. This is the type of mascara that clumps yours lashes together, making it look like you have four eyelashes. It never seems to dry. CLUMPY and STICKY. What a mess. I guess this would be ok if you used one sweep of mascara. Not a volume building mascara AT ALL. And for $27? WHAT A RIP OFF! SAVE YOUR MONEY LADIES! I would stick to the classic Dior Show if I continued using Dior mascara. The iconic is not worth a penny.

Fragrances -Salvatore Ferragamo - Incanto Shine
rated 4 of 5

I was on the search for a new fragrance and thought I wanted something spicy and strong. So Im surprised that I bought this. The sales person at Nordstroms recommended it. I really like it. Its clean but not at all soapy smelling. I would describe it as creamy. I dont think its heavy or overpowering like others are saying. And about it lasting..its not like you get wiffs of it 8 hours after spraying it, but i can still smell it on my skin which is nice. I dont think DG light blue last at all. Yes this does smell a bit more fruity like others have said..but not like an obnoxious B&BW body spray. Its doesnt smell like that awful cotton candy that so many perfumes seem to smell like. And i like the packaging; except the lid. I think they could have made it glass as well..but it is plastic. oh well, no big deal. Words that I personally would use to describe it: creamy but crisp, fresh, girly, easy.

Bronzers -Cover Girl - Tanfastic Bronzer in "Soleil"
rated 4 of 5
stonefoxxx 7/19/2008 12:28:00 AM

First off, whyyyy do CG products STILL contain parabens? Secondly, I hate CG. Overrated and cheap. Hyped up. The only drugstore brand you can really depend on is Maybelline. This bronzer is ok. Nice color, shimmery as in metallic, not glittery. Too shimmery though, cant really wear it anywhere but the cheeks. I hate packages like this for blush or bronzer. You cant use a big fluffy brush and swirl it around. I prefer round compacts, not a rectangle strip of bronzer. All in all, a decent bronzer for the $, but the parabens still confuse me. CG needs to wake up.

Self Tanners -Neutrogena - MicroMist Tanning (Medium 2 shades darker)
rated 4 of 5
stonefoxxx 7/18/2008 12:45:00 AM

I really like this. The spray is nice, and yes, is "micro-mist". Its clear, smells alright..a little chemically and when dried, and little like that infamous self-tan smell. I love the color you get with this. It looks like a real tan..not brown, not orange. Dont expect to look like a Kardashian, but you wont look like an Oompa Loompa either. I got Medium but would probably get Deep next time, b/c the medium has taken me several applications to get good color. I dont think its easy to do your back side like Neutrogena claims, you still need help just as if it were a lotion. I apply this in my bathroom while standing on a towel. I notice that after applying it and leaving my bathroom, Ill go back in a few minutes later and it reeks of self tanner or chemicals. Also, after spraying it alot, I start to feel like its in my throat from breathing it in so much. Bottom Line: A bit smelly, hard to apply to back side, not greasy, awesome color!

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free
rated 3 of 5
stonefoxxx 7/17/2008 1:27:00 PM

After hearing all the rants and raves about Laura Mercier TM everywhere, I decided to give it a try. It was summer, I was tan and had clear skin, and I didnt want to have to wear foundation. Instead of getting rid of foundation cold turkey, I thought this might be a nice balance. While it is sheer and gives a wash of color, it covers nothing. I didnt expect it to (hellooo, tinted moisturizer....). I regretedly asked the SA at Sephora for help picking a shade. The color she picked is about 3 shades to dark/orange. Hideous. Im so bummed. I should have taken it back but never got around to it. And it was $42!! Its nice I guess, but not for that much. Maybe if it were about $20 cheaper. Thankfully I got a Sample of Lorac foundation from Sephora that was so light I was able to mix some with the TM to get my color. BTW, the Lorac foundation is so sheer and not greasy at all (like the LM TM is..even oil-free) that I think Im purchasing that next time. Disappointed and annoyed.

Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
stonefoxxx 7/13/2008 4:33:00 PM

AMAZING. I looove this! The concealer is very good at hiding dark circles, etc. But the highlighter is why I will continue to buy this again and again. It brightens the eye area up so much. I have been on a mission to simplify my makeup routine but still look great, and this is a HUGE HELP. I dont need foundation after using this. It makes me look well rested. Very similar to YSL Touche Eclat, but less than half the price. Its around $8-$9. The only downfall for me is the packaging. I like how its 2-in-1, but its not alot of product. Then again, it doesnt take much when applying. Im just curious to see how long it lasts me (I've bought it just recently). I got it in light even though Im pretty tan. Im only 18 but I love this Age rewind concealer. I highly reccomend this! TIP: The highlighter looks great on the inner corner of your eyes, and I like to apply it in a "C" shape around the outer corners, so that it highlights the highest part of my cheekbone and brightens the eye area.

If you want to look like cheap trailor trash with spidery tacky lashes, get it. A new piece of crap product from CG once again. Surprise! Oh and it contains parabens. Breast tumors anyone?

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
rated 5 of 5
stonefoxxx 6/9/2008 3:06:00 PM

I love this cleanser! Very creamy, skin never feels tight or slick after using. Removes face makeup very easily. I bought the travel size ( i think is like 3.5 oz?) for $10 at sephora and has lasted me about 2 and a half months, and im not even half way through the bottle. I bought the travel size bc i wanted to try it first, but this is my all time favorite! i had been using proactiv for years, but decided on a whim to try this. The scent smells like Aveda products, herbal..which i happen to love. I feel so refreshed after using this and never makes me break out. My skin looks amazing. love it! very satisfied.
