Mascara -Cover Girl - Volume Exact [DISCONTINUED]

I have always had a hard time finding a mascara that I liked. I have been using MAC Plushlash for about a year now, and decided that I wanted to find a DS mascara that was a little more accessible than MAC. Also, cheaper couldn't hurt. :) I got this & another CG mascara in a BOGO sale at Walgreens. I really like this one! The brush is super thin & small, which kind of freaked me out at first, but it really works well, and my lashes are lovely! Nice and long and seperated and a little bit of volume. This isn't super plumping or super volumizing, but it's nice for a natural daytime look. You can still tell you are wearing mascara but it's not clumping and flaking and looking nasty by the end of the day!

Shampoo -Pantene - Restoratives Breakage Defense [DISCONTINUED]

Wasn't too super impressed w/ this product. Didn't love but also didn't hate it. The conditioner was pretty good b/c it was nice & thick. I prefer really thick conditioners to thinner ones. Also, it was a creme formula which I prefer as well. My hair didn't seem any more nourished after using a whole bottle than it did w/ any other shampoo/conditioner. And I definitely still saw hair in my sink. :-/ I preferred John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette or Herbal Essences orchild milk shampoo.

Lotions/ Creams -Dove - Cream Oil Nourishing Body Lotion Normal to Dry Skin

Saw this on sale at Target and decided to give it a go. I actually really love it. It gives a lot of moisture w/out being too oily. It melts into my skin nicely and smells good. I still need something thicker for my feet, but for the rest of me, it's perfect. :) Keeps my skin nice & moisturized and soft. I'm starting to get low on my bottle and I'll definitely go get some more, and I want to try the body wash too.

Cleansers -Ponds - Deep Cleanser Cold Cream

I really like this stuff. I don't wear a ton of eye makeup, so I've always just used inexpensive makeup removers or baby oil to take off my makeup. I decided to try this one day and it's all I've been using since. I have dry moderately sensitive skin and it doesn't do anything to irritate my skin. It says you can put on and tissue off but I wash my face after using this. I only use this on the eye area. I used to use it all over my face but that's not really necessary as I don't wear a ton of face makeup. It does remove stubborn makeup gently and it's nice and moisturizing. I use Pond's dry skin cream as my night time moisturizer. I love them both!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 2 of 5

i've tried great lash in the past and didn't like it - but i have finall figured out the proper way to apply mascara to my long dark lashes, so i wanted to try it again. (i discovered that i really only need to apply mascara to ends of my lashes - working up from the root does nothing for me). anyway. this mascara is as bad as everyone says it is. it's watery, and it clumps. it makes a terrible mess when you apply it. i have to use several coats to try and "fix" the problems i had with the first coat. i used l'oreal voluminous naturale before this and only needed one coat and lashes were pretty. i always always get smudges on my face when applying this mascara. i used it for about a week so i feel like i can give a proper review but i will not be buying this again.

nice gloss. moisturizing, and shiny. i have natural and it's a pretty color. however, it tastes really bad. i know that you shouldn't be licking it but i apply lipgloss constantly, and i drink a lot of water/tea/pop at work and i hate the taste! it's okay but there are better tasting glosses out there. ;)

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Powder Palette Multi-Colored Highlighter

i really like physician's formula products. :) i've been using them for years. they currently make my favorite ever pressed powder foundation. :D anyway. i really like this multi colored powder. i use this before i put on my bare minerals and it's awesome. totally evens out my face and helps my skin look really nice. i do not use the colors individually but just swirl my brush around and then apply to my face! you could even use this without foundation and it would still brighten you up.

Powder -Milani - Minerals Compact Makeup
rated 3 of 5
starlakitty 10/22/2009 11:13:00 PM

i bought this at the recommendation of beauty broadcast. this is not my favorite pressed powder foundation. i gave it a 3 because it's not a bad product, just not my fave. color match is okay, and coverage seems good. my problem is that it feels kind of drying on my face. i usually apply my powder foundation with a kabuki brush. when i used a kabuki with the milani powder, it gave me a "powdered" appearance, didn't settle into my skin, caked up around the eyes, and made my skin feel dry. i decided to give it a go with some different brushes. nothing really seemed to help. i also tried using heavier moisturizer, too. what i do now is just take my eco tools powder brush and gently pick up some of the powder and use it to set my bare minerals. the powder brush picks up a really thin layer and smooths it onto my skin. coverage is really nice that way and it's not cakey or drying. so at least i'm getting my use out of the product! i wouldn't buy this again, though.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Naturale
rated 4 of 5
starlakitty 10/22/2009 11:09:00 PM

i'm not really a big fan of mascara, to be honest. but i just started a new job and i am wearing more makeup to work (specifically eye makeup) and an eye look just isn't complete with some mascara. i really really like this. i have long dark lashes and i just need something to make them stand out more than they do. this is perfect! my lashes look my natural lashes, just darker and better. which is exactly what i was looking for! this does not irritate my eyes. it also doesn't flake during the day, and i have had that problem with other mascaras. i leave my makeup on all day, from 7am until 11pm when i get ready for bed, and my mascara still looks nice at the end of the night. one minor complaint is that the brush seems flimsy. i'm afraid i will break it up when i put it back in the tube!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Liquid Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Formula

i've been using this for years and years. my mom got this for me when i was 16, and said i should be using a seperate face soap. i've tried other things (both expensive & inexpensive) and i always end up coming back to this. it's gentle, it cleans well, and it works for me. i've bought countless bottles of this over the years. it's kind of pricey for a drugstore product but my husband and i both use this and one bottle lasts you months & months.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
starlakitty 10/12/2009 1:27:00 AM

i really love this lotion. my skin is sensitive to sunscreen and this was the first lotion (of many) that did not make my skin break out in an angry red rash! i used this all summer. i'll probably switch back to my clinique yellow lotion for winter but the aveeno was a great buy. :)

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expertwear eyeshadow singles (new formula)
rated 4 of 5
starlakitty 10/12/2009 1:20:00 AM

i'm reviewing the shade 'pink sunsation' specifically. it's a pretty goldish pink shade with shimmer. i got this ridiculously cheap at my grocery store...they had a bunch of these just sitting on a shelf as clearance products. i picked up this color, a gold color, and a copper color. i used sally hansen natural beauty fast fix primer with this. the shadow lasted all day but very subtle. it's a really pretty neutral color and it's pigmented but it's not a deep color. this would probably make a great highlight. i just used it on the lid, which was also pretty. i've had one maybelline quad that was kind of a flop, but this shadow was nice!

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - pure stay long wearing pressed powder
rated 2 of 5
starlakitty 5/6/2009 1:56:00 PM

I bought this powder based on all the good reviews here! I was also pleased that it was dirt cheap ($8 only), had SPF and was available in the drugstore. I went to CVS and picked this up in Ivory. Ivory is a bit light for me. No matter how I apply it, it always seems to make me look like a ghost. And I'm already pale so I don't need any help in that department. ;) It comes with a sponge for application. I tried it once but I much prefer a powder brush or kabuki. Tried all three methods for applying and I didn't like it. It seemed kind of drying and never seemed to settle in my skin. Also, didn't seem to give me any coverage for a foundation. I get better coverage from my Physician's Formula Mineral Wear powder! Overall, I was not exactly impressed. The only reason I'm not going to return it is because I dab a wee bit onto the sponge and use it over my liquid concealer to set it. Totally gets rid of undereye circles! At least I didn't waste money and I'll be able to use up the product. But I wouldn't buy it again. There are better powder foundations out there.

Makeup Brushes -Bare Escentuals - Flawless Application Face Brush
rated 2 of 5
starlakitty 4/17/2009 9:44:00 AM

This came w/ my BE starter set. I've used this brush for over 2 years, or about as long as I've had my starter set. :) I find that it does apply the color to the face well, and it works great with BE. It is scratchy, but I just go lightly on my face and it helps. It does shed a LOT though, and it drives me crazy. Sometimes my face will be a bit sticky from my lotion and I'll put on my foundation w/ this brush and I have to use another brush to try and remove all the little hairs. Plus, I dropped it once and the metal part is coming loose from the handle. :( I need to find a better brush to apply my bare minerals with! Overall, not a bad brush to apply it but there is definitely something better out there.

Lip Treatments -LUSH - Honey Trap Lip Balm
rated 3 of 5
starlakitty 4/16/2009 10:09:00 PM

I'm not really thrilled with Lush products...I bought this and Lip Lime. I wore this for a few days before my husband literally refused to kiss me or come near if I had this on. It was THAT offensive to him! LOL I think it worked okay as a balm. Nothing expensive. My complaint with Lush lip balms is that they get kind of dry. :-/ Anyway. Threw this one out b/c my husband didn't like it. Have moved on to bigger & better things.
