Makeup Brushes -Bare Escentuals - Handy Buki Brush
specialribbons 6/22/2012 4:38:00 PM
Hmm...I think shedding problems may be inherent within certain batches, while hardly a problem within others. This brush actually shed on my face while the SA was matching me for a Bare Minerals foundation, but I ended up taking the brush home anyway. I haven't had a shedding problem at all with my own, and it definitely does the job to apply my Bare Minerals Matte foundation.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15
specialribbons 6/22/2012 4:26:00 PM
Purchased this because I had been interested in mineral makeup for quite a while~ My face and neck are different colors, and I figured that mineral makeup would be a better choice as it is typically more forgiving (in terms of color) than liquid foundation. I have extremely prominent dark spots (hyperpigmentation) from old acne, so this by itself does almost nothing. However, this paired with my Pefecting Cover concealer looks FANTASTIC after application. I bought this along with the Bare Escentuals primer (the one formulated for oily skin), yet it tends not to last all day on me =\ However, I can't say I've EVER had a makeup that's lasted all day on me, so that may not be a fair criticism to make. After a few hours, this oxidizes and starts looking dirty and muddy on my face. This may be because I picked a color that was a bit darker to match my neck to begin with, and the oxidation throughout the day crosses the line of acceptability. This product is extremely subpar in terms of everyday usage, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Despite this, I find that it looks fantastic in photography. That's about the only positive about this foundation, and I'm fairly certain that there are other foundations that look just as nice in photography AND for daily wear. This in mind, DON'T BUY IT.

Concealers -Sephora - Perfecting Cover Concealer
specialribbons 5/25/2012 7:16:00 PM
I LOVE this concealer. The MUA at Sephora honestly spent an hour with me helping me find what worked best, and I ended up with this over several other brands. The coverage is INSANE on this. Because of this, I only use concealer on a daily basis (to cover my undereye dark circles and hyperpigmentation). For only $16, the package comes with a ton of product. I've been using it for about 2 or 3 months, and still haven't made much of a dent. Even so, I plan on picking up another to serve as a backup to go in "that drawer" that everyone has full of "just in case" products :)

I feel like I'm always the one to rain on the parade = I reeeally wanted this to work for me considering the good reviews. Unfortunately, this made me break out HORRIBLY :( In addition to making me break out, I HATED the awful cosmetic-y smell that I endured every time that I spread it onto my face. This is NOT for people with sensitive skin.

Lipstick -Pixi - Lip Blush in Love
specialribbons 2/16/2012 9:40:00 PM
This is the absolute BEST lip stain color for me. I love it! The red color is brighter than both Benetint and The Body Shop stain, and suits me slightly better. My only gripe is the packaging. I HATE marker lip stains >:( they tend to dry out, and can apply unevenly after a while. Even so, this is the stain I use most often if I have time to carefully apply it at home.

Lips -The Body Shop - Lip & Cheek Stain
specialribbons 2/16/2012 9:38:00 PM
This is the stain that I keep in my purse. I have tons that I keep around, but this is by far my favorite (including Benetint). The red color is much brighter and suits me a lot better than Benetint, which is more of a deeper and rosier red. The packaging is perfect! It's not messy, it's easy to use, and easy to transport (unlike Benetint). This is just all around BETTER :)

Palettes -LORAC - Color Me Couture Eye Shadow Palette
specialribbons 1/23/2012 8:24:00 PM
This is my first LORAC palette, and I'm pretty impressed. The first three colors in the palette can be used when making a beautiful daytime look. The colors are vibrant and pigmented, even without a primer. This palette is very usable.

Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - microfinishing powder

I really enjoy this. I use it every day over my Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse, and it works perfectly to keep down the inevitable shine. I have VERY oily skin and very little can be done to prevent me from looking like a disco ball at the end of the day, but this certainly helps. Best of all, it's ACTUALLY translucent. Other "translucent" powders usually give a whitish cast, but this one is undetectable. I have the smaller size, but I can't imagine ever running out. I've had this for a month now and haven't made a dent O_O The only thing I can criticize is the packaging =/ It's a screw cap with holes to allow some of the product through, which in theory sounds like a great idea (so that you don't pick up too much of the product). The problem is that I never use the entirety of what comes through, and now have half of the product sitting on top. So every time I open then container, it makes a bit of a mess :(

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Posietint
specialribbons 12/8/2011 8:27:00 PM
Oh my gosh I love this! I had purchased benetint a while ago, and decided to try other stains from Benefit. I love this WAY more than the first! I was first a bit shocked by the consistency. Benetint is liquidy, but this is kind of...creamy I guess. I've gotten used to it now, and I actually prefer this texture :) I also feel like it lasts much longer! It's perfect for my "no I'm not wearing makeup" daily look for school ^^

Concealers -Smashbox - High Definition Concealer
specialribbons 12/8/2011 8:23:00 PM
Ehh not too impressed with this one. I'll start with first impressions~ When I first opened my concealer, I noticed that it had separated =\ skin tone colored liquid was squishing out of the top. It was gross! I have this in medium dark, which is a bit too dark for me, but my fault for rushing at sephora. It's not long lasting =\ I'd say it lasts about 4 hours out of the day. I always have to touch it up at school. Coverage is pretty sheer for a concealer. It works wonderfully under my eyes, but does nothing to cover hyperpigmentation. It DOES blend pretty well with the skin, but that's about the only positive.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
specialribbons 12/3/2011 8:57:00 AM
12/3/11: I have this in shade "Natural Beige," and it's a great match. I have very oily skin, and this definitely does a good job of keeping the oil at bay. I can go through an entire day without blotting and won't look disgusting. The coverage is great, but it blends very well nonetheless. Let me mention that I don't put this over my entire face, I don't do that with any foundation. I put it around the sides of my nose, chin, and a bit on the sides of my face where I have hyperpigmentation. After using it for weeks, I still haven't made a dent! I've only come across two negatives with this product. Firstly, this accentuates dryness HORRIBLY. Not a surprise, since this is a foundation for oily skin. If you have even slightly dry skin, I recommend that you pass on this foundation. Even if you have oily skin like me, be sure to apply a bit of moisturizer before application. The second "problem" may be considered a little trivial, but it's the packaging. You should be washing your hands before applying makeup anyway, but I don't feel too comfortable dipping my fingers in the container everyday -.- Good coverage, stays put, mattifying, and light, I will definitely repurchase this foundation, but will probably experiment with others in between ^^~ 02/16/12: I still haven't even used a quarter of this stuff, and I've been using it every day! I wanted to mention that I think these shades are perfect for darker girls. There are several African American girls at my school that I've seen using this foundation at my school, and it looks great on them! It looks natural and matches their skin. I think it's worth a shot if you're darker, because I understand that it can be super difficult to find a match =\

Toners -Clean & Clear - Deep Cleaning Astringent-Sensitive Skin (blue)
specialribbons 11/11/2011 10:29:00 PM
I LOVE this product :) I use this every single morning. First, I cleanse my face with with oatmeal (something I learned in a tutorial from bubzbeauty), then follow up by soaking a cotton pad with astringent and swiping it over my t-zone as well as my complete hairline. Then I apply aloe vera gel all over, and apply sunscreen and/or moisturizer. I used to have clogged pores all over my nose :( I had used pore strips in the past, but they would only work temporarily >:| I would use them at night, and in about 15 hours the effects would reverse. Now after using this astringent, my nose is smooth and clear :)

Deodorants -Secret - Clinical Strength
specialribbons 10/9/2011 10:40:00 PM
I love this! It's so much better at controlling perspiration and odor than dove, and I LOVE the scent ^^~ The only off-putting thing is the clicky dispenser -___- it's a little annoying, but I won't take any lippies away from the overall rating because of my petty annoyances with the dispenser.

Deodorants -Dove - Clinical Protection
specialribbons 10/9/2011 10:38:00 PM
I only use clinical strength deodorants, and they can get kind of expensive. This one happens to go on sale pretty often, so I usually take advantage and stock up. It doesn't do a particularly fabulous job and controlling sweat or odor, nor do I care for any of the scents. It does only a slightly better job than regular deodorants, but I'll take it =\ it does help to apply often throughout the day, which is easy to do with their mini versions. The twisty-clicky dispenser seems like a pointless novelty to me, and the noise can get rather annoying. I will probably repurchase, only because this is on sale so often.
